You know why I like Thanksgiving so much?

Because I know it is a very very difficult day for both PETA and America-haters.

Did you see PETA's new commercial of the fake prayer? It's funny...'cuz it's true.

I do tax debt consulting work. 2 years ago, my non-pay rate (the percentage of clients who did not pay) was 18%. Today, its close to 40%. The only upside is that because of the economy, I have more clients, so it allows me to absorb the increase in non-pay a little better. But, between all the new taxes, etc., getting to the point I am seriously thinking about shutting down and just flipping burgers and being a completely mindless drone.

1. HA started sucking and I left.

2. Can someone please explain to me what is wrong with Beck WITHOUT using subjective, inane, attack opinion? The Beck animus appears to be typical lefty projections of "uncool". I've been DVRing him and watching later and I have to say he has a lot more of an in depth analysis of the connections, the Marxism, and the goals of this administration than anyone else. His stuff is more like Horowitz, Sowell, and sometimes Rush than the more topical and more shallow of the other commentators.

3. I'm growing increasingly pissed that anyone doesn't immediately assume that these terrorists are liars. They have said that they are taught to lie as part of training as as they become more familiar with our culture the better they are going to get at it. They said we flushed Korans down the toilet --which was a weak lie yet still believed by the left--and now they are saying they are beaten up. The Seals know this and that's why they want an actual trial.

Mallamutt, question: in your market, shouldn't you be getting paid upfront, since your clients are already in trouble?

I get an upfront retainer based on a estimate of what the client relates they owe and the nature of their work. Most of my clients are small business types that usually, due to poor planning, being cheap on the start up, etc. are not sure of what their tax obligations are. Then, usually what happens, is that when you call the IRS and the state authorities, you find out that what they owe is usually more than what they said they owed, etc. Why: because the IRS will not send you one notice stating everything you owe. Instead, they send one notice for one year for one form. Plus, you have to depend upon the client to get all their financial information together. I also do other debt work outs, which pop up from time to time.

Bottom line, they usually piss through the original retainer before the work is done and requires fresh retainer. This is when the non-pay starts. If we are close to getting things done, I can live with a little pain of not getting paid, if for no other reason than usually, in about 1 out of every 4 cases, I will get a referral from the client.

Michael took it personally because he felt he was treated coldly and harshly, which he was.

i'm jealous, and I believe Reagan won the Young vote too. I voted for the first time ever back in last year's elections and practically everyone/everything I voted for lost that night.

I do remember back in 2004, I was in my 10th grade year and my high school was about 55-45 i'd say pro-Kerry and it was an urban school in a moderately blue district (which Bush won that year). Me and my brother stayed up all night watching Bush win re-election & then watched all the mostly unhappy faces the next day. we were tired as hell, but it was worth it. I'm glad I wasn't still at school come last year' election, the crap I would have had to deal w/ the next day. Instead I came to my workplace of the time where everyone but the boss voted McCain & we all got to happily talk about our displeasure w/ the results

I hate my generation though, i'm embarrassed to be part of youth who's only goal in life is to support socialism, dabble in secularism, have sex w/ anyone they meet, and do drugs. It's pathetic I belong to this generation. The same assclowns who still give Obama approvals in the 60s.

YRM - I have a theory, however, about the current crop of young voters. I think alot of the Obama craze was more of a fad than an actual transcedening political change. I suspect a fair amount of the youth vote for Obama was a result of the perception that it was hip and cool to be an Obamanut. Once the hip ran out in 2008, the youth vote will either 1) disappear back to the normal levels of youth voting or 2) swing back into balance. The youth vote did not show up in 2009. May have to wait until 2012 to see if I am right. But I always thought Obama was the "Disco/New Wave/Grunge/Disney Pop-Star" candidate.

156 Beck is giving a warning to our Republic.  All warriors have to decide if they're willing to fight and die for what they believe in.  If they conclude (even incorrectly) that our nation is headed for the toilet under this CinC and Congress and won't recover, then deciding to "serve their nation" causes great soul searching.

Beck has simply uttered what we veterans have always had to deal with.  Behind the "nation of laws and not of men" are our families, neighbors and communities that we care so much about.  We "defend the Constitution" for not only its ideals but for them, directly.

Ordinarily, our warriors know to weather any political storm.  The meat of Beck's warning is that this storm may not abate.  Since that is a possibility, you can't damn the messenger - only the reason for the message.  This dire situation is - in fact - REAL.  We have to deal with it.

Yes, sorta like flenser but a more agreeable chap.

As noted above, I'm getting sick of the wing of the party who thinks we need to tailor our message depending on the region we're running. Enough with the pandering and shying away from personal beliefs.

You know why Obama won? Besides the cheating, I mean. Obama was every bit an anti-American leftist liberal in every way but he knew how to stay on message. Obama told everyone he had a plan and he sounded great while he said it, whereas McCain was out there being a moderate and trying to be likable to everyone. McCain ended up be disliked by everyone, whereas Obama was liked by all Democrats and plenty of dopes in the middle.

No, we really do hate it. I put up with it cause I like the girl and she puts up with me playing CoD MM2 or watching TV shows she hates as well.

On another topic, I think Obama likes speaking at military facilities because he can essentially order attendance and they are a captive audience.  Narcissists like that, or so I've heard.

There is no one date for expiration. A lot of them have already expired. The one that effects most people, as well as all the remaining cuts, all expire Jan 1, 2011.

One that affects me personally, and a lot of other retired people, is the favorable treatment of "qualifying" dividends.  That expired Jan 1, 2009.

LOL, it wouldn't do any good to try to read the instruction manual for a cell phone. Like most manuals for new electronic devices they are written by idiots who have English as a third language and zero communication skills.

I attempted to read my Nokia manual for a while by keeping it in the bathroom. It didn't take me long to figure out that it was worthless.

'Turkey bacon'. Put several slices of raw bacon on the sides of your Turkey when you bake it. The bacon absorbs the turkey juice as it cooks. Kind of keep any eye on the bacon to see when it seems well cooked. Pull it off and munch.

I had two kids in college during the election and frankly, there was a virtual movement among liberal profs to "educate" the college students about their "obligation" to vote. Same profs that didn't bother during the Bush years were flat out organizing the "get out the vote" campaign and LECTURING their liberal bias out of the other side of their mouth ....from a State funded campus in the case of Purdue.

I objected to a Science prof (biology) who spent more time advocating Global Warming issues (no kidding, he was lecturing about polar bears dieing) and suggested that scientific methodology should be applied to the issue. After THAT mistake I was written off entirely by both my kids on all issues political.

My daughter at Notre Dame got a RAVING liberal indoctrination.....but is still convinced the campus is pretty conservative...."because they're anti-abortion". As though one issue decided your political stance. They were SO conservative in fact, that they invited Obama to their graduation ceremony and awarded him an honorary doctorate in spite of his being the most pro-abortion advocate to ever hit the White House. Who knew?

288 I am confused, or addled. Maybe someone can fill me in. I just popped over to Hillbuzz for the first time in a couple of months. I am confused. Are they rapidly morphing into a conservative blog? Because it sure seemed that way.

The Hillbuzz blog is run by a bunch of confused, drama queen gaywads who value personality over ideology. So, for example, they love Hillary Clinton, and want to see her as president, but they also gush all over Sarah Palin, and want her to be president, too. Go figure. Recently, they applauded Illinois senator Roland Burris for insisting on a public option in the health care bill, and in the same post, said that Joe Lieberman is a hero for refusing to vote for any bill containing a public option.

Point out their ideological inconsistency to them, though, and they get pissy.

They absolutely hate Obama (whom they refer to as "Dr. Utopia"), but they don't see that, as an earlier commenter pointed out, that Hillary is just Obama in a dress.

So I can't take them seriously. Not even when they say stuff I agree with.

So just for the hell of it, I checked out some of the U.K. papers that are always linked on Drudge.

Well, one of the main stories, at least in the 'Environment' sections, is that the MET, whatever that is, is warning that global temps are about to rise in the next decade.

Man, you should see the comments! Damn the brits are piling on hard and fast, basically telling the press that they are idiots, and doing the same thing the commenters at the Houston paper are  I mean they are just dogging the reporters for their ignorance.
