She's just keeping up the ancient Louisiana tradition of being the most corrupt state in the Union. This isn't even an eyebrow-raiser for Louisiana politics. It is the land of Huey Long, remember. She's doing ole Kingfish proud.

Seems to me that Lincoln is the key to all of this. Healthcare is very unpopular in AR and she's going to have a tough re-election bid anyway. I have a hard time seeing her get re-elected if she let's this bill go forward. My guess is that we'll see the debate, but surely she won't vote to end debate. If she does, Joe is our only hope. I hate to hang my hat on that, but I would say it would be a perfect way to pay back the Democrat party for they they have treated him.

She won't have to. I believe that should procedure go beyond this point, Reid can employ the "nuclear option." The really at-risk Dem seats will be able to avoid the cloture vote and the bill will pass with Reid giving them the OK to not toe the party line. This vote is essentially for the marbles as I've understood it. Any parliamentarians in the house? Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at November 20, 2009 09:06 PM (3nPNg) 15

The other early morning I told you that I'd seen some Senator on Greta. He said "If they vote for debate, it is a done deal". I'm paraphrasing but this guy was genuinely upset. He said to Greta's audience "you can't let it get to the floor, don't believe anything they say, I know, once it gets to the floor, it's over". Everyone ignored him and me when I posted it. The BO campaign has their operative (ordinary Americans who have fallen to the svengali effect) out ther sending cards and letters and coercing their friends to make sure this gets passed. The republicans and the conservatives have essentially been tuckered out by what went on in August, while they (our politicians) were having lovely beach vacations. BO and company knew this, they knew that the republicans and conservatives (the people with jobs, families and obligations) couldn't devote the amount of time the young unemployed ivy graduates can to "the cause"....they have won and I tried to tell you all and none of you would listen. When their PR guy can look this Lowery idiot right in the eye and say "it will pass, we will have a bill" on Hannity last night, you know, it is a done deal. And look it is starting to stink like three day old fish.

He can change the "character" of the bill and use th nuclear option. The Senator on Greats said this. If he makes it a spending bill, he can do it.
Posted by: curious at November 20, 2009 09:22 PM (p302b) 36
First of all, I don't know if Reid can invoke the nuclear option for this type of bill, my recollection from law school is that this is reserved for budget-type of legislation. If he does invoke it, we are talking WWIII type stuff. You can bet that at some point the Republicans will regain control of the Senate and with this precedent then they can proceed to use the nuclear option too. This is why a majority leader with half a brain can't use the nuclear option for legislation like this. Then again, we're talking about Harry Reid, so who the hell knows.
In fact, there is a part of me that would love to see the Dems go ahead and use the nuclear option, heads might literally roll. Surely Reid, Lincoln and several other senators will all loose there jobs over shenanigans like that. If they think the tea-baggers are rapid home grown terrorists now, wait until they try to pass legislation in this shifty way. Posted by: BTMintheSTL at November 20, 2009 09:23 PM (4X3d1) 37
curious: "Why is it different for the Senate?"
Because the crooks write the rules. Seriously. This is what has become of democracy. They've been doing this shit for ages but only now do we see the sausage-making up close and in real-time. THIS is representative government even when it isn't listening to us. The raiding of the treasury is standard operating procedure. The GOP will need to man up a filibuster this at some point. Hell, gather phone books from every city in the nation and read all the names of the people affected by this universal mandate if necessary. Do you see anyone from the Right willing to do this? If he gets the 60 to open debate, they're going to pass this monstrosity. At that point, Reid gets to let every smush and schmuck add on amendments until we have a 3,000 page sh*t pile. End result, Reid and the Democrats get their takeover of healthcare. AS the healthcare program is all about power and money, I'm sure the politicians will sell their souls, ability to remain in office, first born....whatever it takes to get this bill passed and signed into law. The dems can buy their vote by telling them they will be taken care of if thrown out of office. Although, they do seem to assume that no matter what they do, they will be re-elected.

He is fully expected to be in the Senate today to vote for the bill. Since Lieberman has backed off on his promise to vote against it they have their 60 votes. Money talks and bullshit walks. The Democrats will have the 60 votes to start debate, the 60 to shut off debate and the votes to pass the bill. In conference the bill will be pulled to the left by House conferees. The bill coming out of conference will pass both chambers and be signed into law. Yes it will damage the country, the economy, and the health of ourselves, our children, our grandchildren and those following for generations. There will be no revolution, little backlash and no retribution for those voting "yes". The American people will fall in line, as usual and become accustom to the situation. The Democrats will have a new entitlement and huge base of new voters. For those who disagree with me, look at Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Welfare, Public Education and the assault on this country's traditions. And while legislation is being passed enslaving us all, all we will do in the end is bitch and moan.

Landreui just announced she is a yes vote for moving forward. She is trying to "blunt" it by saying she is necessarily voting "for" the bill.
We know she is a 100M dollar whore and we also know any effort to say a yes vote now is not voting for the bill is a damn lie. Down to the Arkansas commie now who is up for reelection this year in a red State. She will fold as well and try to ride the not for the bill lie. So, I have been trying to find in the thread where someone says "...we have already determined what you are. What we are doing now is haggling over the price!" Wrought iron is commercially pure iron. In contrast to steel, it has very low carbon content. It is a fibrous material due to the slag inclusions (a normal constituent). This is also what fives it a "grain"resembling wood, which is visible when it is etched or bent to the point of failure. Wrought iron is tough, malleable, ductile and easily welded.
