Charles Johnson Now Deleting Posts for Mentioning Hacked Global Warming Fraud Emails

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=003LKN94 http://www.filedropper.com/foi2009

The links above are to the AGW emails being discussed. I have not downloaded them and cannot vouch for them. I got the links from this article though and were I not on my work comp I would download them.

Zapped. No reason given.

The key to the scientific method is suppression of contrary data. Everyone knows that. Duh.

It seems the very scientific jazz musician is somewhat less open to questioning global warming alarmism than lefty German paper Der Spiegel.

Stagnating Temperatures

Climatologists Baffled by Global Warming Time-Out

By Gerald Traufetter

Global warming appears to have stalled. Climatologists are puzzled as to why average global temperatures have stopped rising over the last 10 years. Some attribute the trend to a lack of sunspots, while others explain it through ocean currents.

At least the weather in Copenhagen is likely to be cooperating. The Danish Meteorological Institute predicts that temperatures in December, when the city will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, will be one degree above the long-term average.

Otherwise, however, not much is happening with global warming at the moment. The Earth's average temperatures have stopped climbing since the beginning of the millennium, and it even looks as though global warming could come to a standstill this year.

Ironically, climate change appears to have stalled in the run-up to the upcoming world summit in the Danish capital, where thousands of politicians, bureaucrats, scientists, business leaders and environmental activists plan to negotiate a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Billions of euros are at stake in the negotiations.

Billions of euros are at stake? I wonder when it will occur to anyone that "billions of euros are stake" might have something to do with "the science is settled."

These people believe George W. Bush starts wars in order to goose Haliburton's stock price by half a point but they don't ever consider that billions of euros being at stake might induce someone to deliberately fudge a regression analysis.

Reached a Plateau

The planet's temperature curve rose sharply for almost 30 years, as global temperatures increased by an average of 0.7 degrees Celsius (1.25 degrees Fahrenheit) from the 1970s to the late 1990s. "At present, however, the warming is taking a break," confirms meteorologist Mojib Latif of the Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences in the northern German city of Kiel. Latif, one of Germany's best-known climatologists, says that the temperature curve has reached a plateau. "There can be no argument about that," he says. "We have to face that fact."

Even though the temperature standstill probably has no effect on the long-term warming trend, it does raise doubts about the predictive value of climate models, and it is also a political issue. For months, climate change skeptics have been gloating over the findings on their Internet forums. This has prompted many a climatologist to treat the temperature data in public with a sense of shame, thereby damaging their own credibility.

"It cannot be denied that this is one of the hottest issues in the scientific community," says Jochem Marotzke, director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg. "We don't really know why this stagnation is taking place at this point."

Just a few weeks ago, Britain's Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research added more fuel to the fire with its latest calculations of global average temperatures. According to the Hadley figures, the world grew warmer by 0.07 degrees Celsius from 1999 to 2008 and not by the 0.2 degrees Celsius assumed by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. And, say the British experts, when their figure is adjusted for two naturally occurring climate phenomena, El Niño and La Niña, the resulting temperature trend is reduced to 0.0 degrees Celsius -- in other words, a standstill.

The differences among individual regions of the world are considerable. In the Arctic, for example, temperatures rose by almost three degrees Celsius, which led to a dramatic melting of sea ice. At the same time, temperatures declined in large areas of North America, the western Pacific and the Arabian Peninsula. Europe, including Germany, remains slightly in positive warming territory.

Mixed Messages

But a few scientists simply refuse to believe the British calculations. "Warming has continued in the last few years," says Stefan Rahmstorf of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). However, Rahmstorf is more or less alone in his view. Hamburg Max Planck Institute scientist Jochem Marotzke, on the other hand, says: "I hardly know any colleagues who would deny that it hasn't gotten warmer in recent years."

Incidentally, billions of euros are at stake.

The controversy sends confusing and mixed messages to the lay public. Why is there such a vigorous debate over climate change, even though it isn't getting warmer at the moment? And how can it be that scientists cannot even arrive at a consensus on changes in temperatures, even though temperatures are constantly being measured?
...

Marotzke and Leibniz Institute meteorologist Mojib Latif are even convinced that the fuzzy computing done by [climate-stagnation denier] Rahmstorf is counterproductive. "We have to explain to the public that greenhouse gases will not cause temperatures to keep rising from one record temperature to the next, but that they are still subject to natural fluctuations," says Latif. For this reason, he adds, it is dangerous to cite individual weather-related occurrences, such as a drought in Mali or a hurricane, as proof positive that climate change is already fully underway.

"Perhaps we suggested too strongly in the past that the development will continue going up along a simple, straight line. In reality, phases of stagnation or even cooling are completely normal," says Latif.

Perhaps you suggested that too strongly. But then, billions in euros are at stake.

The article goes on as the never-say-die Natural Climate Fluctuation Denialists posit suddenly that natural factors -- like the less-radiative sun, or the oscillations of the ocean that can store large amounts of heat, and then suddenly start releasing them -- explain the current cooling.

But what they don't explain is why it is such natural forces are able to easily explain the missing "global warming" (and the global cooling, too), and yet aren't -- the science is settled! -- able to likewise explain a 1 degree rise in temperatures from 1980 to 1998.

It seems natural factors are, bizarrely, capable of cooling only, and only when absolutely necessary to help "fix" the utterly-wrong computer models. The moment they get data suggesting some warming, there is absolutely no possibility whatsoever that these same powerful natural forces could have a thing to do with that.

Beyond whether the science has or has not been manipulated, I have always had 3 questions that led to my skepticism and that I have yet to hear a reasonable answer to:
1) If the threat is truly dire and humanity faces world wide calamity, then how in the world can any serious AGW adherent agree to exempting all the developing nations from participating in the proposed restrictions. Countries like India and China, which emit far more pollutants than we, with our infinately more refined technologies, do. If they are exempted will we still have temperate climes on our side of the globe? (That last point is rhetorical).
2) Why does nuclear power, which has been effectively choked off in the US for the last 30 years, never enter any of these discussions? It is demonstrably clean and even the Left’s much admired French get 80%+ of their energy from it. Why not us?
3) If this is truly unprecedented and man made then just how the fuck did we get out of the last Ice Age? Why isn’t the earth just a big snowball?
Since I have yet to see reasonable answers to these fairly simple questions I am left with the suspicion…..no, near certainty, that this issue is just one of the latest attempts by Leftist, collectivist, communist motherfuckers to infiltrate and worm their way into every aspect of life to satisfy their totalitarian obsession.
Used to be you couldn’t talk politics or religion at work, leaving mainly sports and the weather as the only safe topics. Thanks to these bastards, even talking about the weather is off the table. Any guesses on how they’re going to politicize sports? Probably the mascot names, come to think of it.

And oh, I almost forgot. Billions of euros are at stake. As well as ManBearPig's ill-gotten millions.

21 CJ s response is purely delusional. He fails to understand the meaning of what is being said and relies upon completely superfluous issues to denigrate the obvious meaning of the posts. When the author of the post indicating that he is adding .15 degrees to the 1981 -2001 period and subtracting the same amount from the 1961 - 1981 period says he no longer knows what he meant, something is amiss. When Michael Mann and Briffa's tree ring data that justified the hockey stick graph is admitted to be completely wrong but  publicly defended then something is very amiss.

28 Nice write-up, ace.  But as far as the "science of GW is concerned", I pay no attention to it except as a strictly academic excercise.  Because none of this GW bullshit is about the climate.  It's about money and power.  This is one of the heads of the beast trying to devour not only the wealth of prosperous nations but to subjugate everyone to the whims of a few self-proclaimed elitists.  Oh, and by the way.  Charles Johnson can go fuck himself.

CJ must be a speed reader.  He read through all those megabytes of hacked emails in less than a few hours and promptly declared a nontroversy.  It's astonishing that someone who is interested in the issue would be so hasty to declare that there could be _nothing_ of any interest in the internal correspondence of the organization that feeds much of the primary data to the rest of the climate scientists.  Even a true AGW believer ought to be at least curious to see the clockwork.

What does "hide the decline" mean, I wonder?

Well, the author of this little gem is British, so it could mean many things.

Many of which are hilarious to read about, but dreadful to experience personally.

@

As for Charles Johnson; it looks like hefs descending into a vat of spittle-washed Truth/The Correct Way sermons (although embarrassingly simple and short), downdings, authoritarian bannings, serial retractions / corrections / "never-heard-of-it"s and general and long-lasting embarrassment.

Regrettable. Musicians (i.e., people who have learned to play a musical instrument well, and well enough to be paid by other accomplished musicians for public performance; NOT singers, DJs, mixmasters, and other posers) tend to be above-average-smart to titanically-brilliant (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart).

Note that this isnft the same as, and not a substitute for, education / training. Without suitable education / training in the area of interest (in this case politics, and related areas, maybe law, history), itfs easy to be fooled by others, particularly fawning sycophants.

I wonder if Dan Rather is watching.

140 Haven't had time to wade thru the comments yet, but...Dayum!  The emails I've been reading all day on WUWT and other "skeptic" sites are absolutely damning.  The top guys behind the AGW movement--Phil Jones, Michael Mann, Gavin whatisname who started the "Real Climate" blog--are all shown discussing how to a) keep professional climate journals from accepting articles criticizing AGW theory or poking holes in the methodology; b) dodge legitimate FOIA requests to examine their taxpayer-funded data and the computer algorithms used to "correct" certain datapoints (which seem to always be the ones that don't show as high a temp as the fakers think they should); c) screen comments on pro-AGW blogs to keep critics out, while appearing to welcome all viewpoints; d) coordinate responses to the few critical letters that manage to make it into print and criticize AGW studies.

Oh, these guys are absolute fucking *pinnacles* of scientific integrity!  It'll be interesting to see if a single word of this makes the MSM.

Bastards, the whole lot of  'em.  Including the MSM.

Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich warned in 1969 that American life expectancy could be reduced to only 42 years by the 1980s because of an epidemic of cancer caused by modern chemicals and pesticides.

In the 1970s, Massachusetts Institute of Technology professors published the book "Limits to Growth" warning that if policymakers didn't limit growth, the world would run out of resources and suffer economic collapse. They even developed an elaborate computer model to prove their point.

165 Hiya, Chuckie!

I guess this ain't the time to alert you to the fact that belief in man made climate change has been awarded the status of a religion in England.  (Oh dear, how to still be an atheist and a global warming believer.....oh me oh my....)

BTW, if you knew a damn thing about science, you would know that no real scientist EVER says that the debate is "settled".  No matter how the evidence stacks up at this particular time, there is always the possibility that new discoveries can....and will....upset the current paradigm.  (See Einstein ~ Physics, Darwin ~ Biology, etc.)

Please stick to your "art photography" until you get this basic concept, ok?  Have a nice day....somewhere else.

204 Here is Charles Johnson earlier today:

Email Charles quotes: I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.

Charles replies: “Trick,” of course, can also mean “an effective technique,” but if you were desperately hunting for anything smear-worthy, I suppose the word would stand out.

Yes, Charles, "an effective technique" to "hide the decline." Nothing wrong with that...

Here is another one Charles can creatively reinterpret:

The other paper by MM is just garbage – as you knew. De Freitas again. Pielke is also losing all credibility as well by replying to the mad Finn as well – frequently as I see it. I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. K and I will keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is ! [Emphasis mine.]

Of course, the morons at Real Climate attempt to argue that this release proves there is no conspiracy to misrepresent and modify the data because the emails show just how dedicated the climate scientists in question believe in their theory. (Many of whom are, of course, involved with Real Climate.) Got that? Science depends not on data, but on the extent to which you adhere to a theory. In other words, it depends on faith. Perhaps Charle should reconsider creationism if he buys that argument.

245 This is, to me at least, one of those instances where hacking into a "private" server and copying incriminating evidence is certainly justified.

Gee, the NYT et al can lead all sorts of classified information smuggled out from nefarious sources and that's perfectly okay, yet...

260 Charles Johnson has no credibility as a blogger. Period.

Posted by: Bob at November 21, 2009 10:23 AM (xGUcJ)

261 Weird... Charles is pretending not to have a hair-trigger delete policy?  A month or so ago, he stomped out my account for a single post, where I expressed a lack of horror at a Rush Limbaugh quote.  It took literally less than three minutes.

Posted by: DRH at November 21, 2009 07:10 PM (iHzMu)

262 I used to be a member of The Daily Johnson until I got banned by the prick for implying that Rick The Dick Sanchez of CNN was a a homo. Remember, the scumbag CJ begs for money to continue to run his shitshow.

Posted by: Ted at November 21, 2009 07:36 PM (L8H4X)

263 I'm hugely disappointed in LGF.  I considered it a valuable source, though I didn't always agree with Charles.  I was glad to see that he did not automatically take an "enemy of my enemy" position, and was willing to call out nastiness of some people on the right, and his reporting on the "fauxtogrophy" and Dan Rather's pathetically crudely forged memos was a huge service to the cause of liberty.

Then I got banned, too, for a single post where I objected to the tone of attacks on some conservative figures. (I think Michelle Malkin was one of the ones being attacked.)  In particular, he used one of the comments by readers to one of these conservative blogs in his attack.  Charles very rightly objected when cesspits like "Daily Kos" play that game against him, and I said he shouldn't use their tactics.

There was nothing profane or abusive in my posting.  But it was instantly deleted, my account banned, and three very contritely worded requests for an explanation of just what I'd said that was ban-worthy went unanswered.

I'd taken Charles' word for some things, like the real fascist and racial supremacist associations of some European resistance to the jihadis.  Now... I'm afraid I have to throw out that reporting as unreliable.  There may be truth to some of it (a Stormfront logo desk ornament is rather horribly unambiguous) but I can no longer assume Charles is arguing in good faith.

267 >Johnson has also banned anyone who has posted a simple question such as,
>"Why have we still not seen an actual copy of Obama's birth certificate,
>when simply producing one would put all question to rest ?"

I think I know the answer to that one.

It's a trap.

By encouraging non-socialists to waste their efforts on the whole birth certificate thing, it distracts us from concentrating on the many real issues. If the birth issue were ever to gain enough traction, the original would be produced.

As far as I'm concerned, the birth notice in the Honolulu papers at the time settled any serious question of fact.  Alas.  If he were a non-citizen, it'd sure make things easier.

I'm not sure Biden would be an improvement, anyway.  And behind him is (*shudder*) Nancy Pelosi.  And behind her is the Klansman from West Virginia.

And behind him is (IA! IA!) ... Hillary.

What we should be concentrating on is getting a non-Socialist Congress in 2010.  If we could at least gain a couple in the Senate to end their filibuster-proof majority, that'd be a big help.

Unfortunately, I don't see anyone on the GOP side putting together the kind of surge that Newt Gingrich did with his "Contract With America" that neutered Bill Clinton for the remainder of his time in office.

I don't think Obama is inclined to "triangulate"; I think he'd redouble his leftist efforts in the face of a GOP majority in Congress, making his reelection unlikely.

But if we spend all our efforts on the birth certificate thing...

270 LGF has made itself irrelevant in the last year or so.  Perhaps a term is needed here: Johnson has "Sullivaned" himself (as per Andrew Sullivan circa 2003).

What was once an anti-jihad site, is now a kooky anti-anti-vaccine / anti-anti-global warming / anti-Palin site.

These days there's seldom a post about jihadist activity, just inane posts about divisive, marginal issues.

LGF was once a place of open and free discussion, and now a place where people are banned at the drop of a hat.

The jihadi lunatics have not gone away, it's a shame they're no longer deemed important at LGF.
