Letting Your Children Wear Camouflage is Bad Parenting? Maybe it's me, but I would no sooner dress my essence-of-innocence son as a soldier than I would dress my daughter, if I had one, as a hooker (whoops – seems some moms are doing that, too). Not to equate heroic work with sleazy endeavors – it's the frank adultness of each that makes me shiver.Uh huh, sure. She's not equating soldiers and hookers at all. It was just pure random chance that she happened to use those particular examples in the same sentence. Dear Penis:
After assessing your request, and considering the arguments you have raised, the administration rejects your request for the following reasons: You do not work 8 hours straight. You fall asleep after brief work periods. You do not always follow the orders of the management team. You do not stay in your designated work area and are often seen visiting other locations. You do not take initiative, you need to be pressured and stimulated in order to start working. You leave your workplace rather messy at the end of your shift. You don't always observe necessary safety regulations, such as wearing the correct protective clothing. You will retire well before you are 65. You are unable to work double shifts. You sometimes leave your designated work area before you have completed the assigned task. And if that were not enough, you have been constantly entering and exiting the workplace carrying two suspicious-looking bags. Sincerely, The Management Posted by: The Management at November 12, 2009 10:00 PM (rYWEB) 39

Isn't irony fun? I actually liked how in the old movies everyone smoked. It was just the way it was. Audrey Hepburn and her cig holder in Breakfast at Tiffany's poster is classic. Bogey with a cig in his mouth in his flicks. It was cool and sexy. And it never made me want to pick up a cigarette so people are influenced by that, it's their own damn fault. I'm completely against smoking bans. I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke and I've never smoked a day in my life, but I also don't like small fascism. I smoke but am trying to quit. But I'll tell you, it's one very hard habit to kick. And suprisingly, I smoke outdoors most of the time and I HATE secondhand smoke. It just angers me that the special interests are stigmatizing smokers when the very man most of them supported for POTUS smokes! Then, they try to say how great Marijuana is (has good qualities) but the harshness of the smoke on the lungs is much worse than tobacco smoke.

My grandma died of emphysema. Miss'80sBaby, I'm pretty sure you mean Kate Beckinsale (with some guy), but I'll let it pass this one time. Anyway, that guy, don't know his name, but I think he's in all the Whit Stillman movies, the best conservative filmmaker of the 90s (Barcelona, Last Days of Disco, Metropolitan), so that's some good eye candy for you with some good themes too.

I’m waiting for a service call from a plumber. The window was 3:30-5:30. It is now 8pm. Called once at 6:30 and was told that they were just about finished with a job in Bellevue and then they’d be on their way.
The annoying thing is, I just need them to change the batteries in my stupid leak detection thing for my hot water heater, which isn’t leaking. But the device is beeping that annoying loud high pitched beep and has been since I got home at 2:30 this afternoon. I now have it wrapped in towels to muffle it. Kate Beckinsale is hot but her movies are horrible.
True, very true. But very hot. So I volunteer at a hospital, pediatrics floor, playing with kids, it's a lot of fun. Yesterday, I played Battleship with this teenage boy (he chose it because it was Veteran's Day, which made me instantly adore him), and his strategy was to 'frame' the board, i.e. literally go one by one with each spot around the outer rim, then one rim in, and so on. I have never seen that before, and he apparently had never encountered my 'random' approach before. Am I nuts, or is the framing thing weird? In any case, I prefer Connect Four (Spongebob Edition!) #491 The rumor has it, that the Chicom have been secretly buying up all the gold they can with the soon to be worthless dollars that they have. Started the first of the year. Some dealers have been telling me, that it could hit 1.300 to 1,500 by next year. The price of gold is dictated by the world jewelry markets. Steady increase since Obama has gone wild with our money

Our local store carries condoms behind the counter and you need to ask the salesperson to get them. So I went up to the salesperson but I was so nervous I could only ask where the straws were. So I bought the straws and left only to have to come back to buy my condoms. Again, I came into the store and was still so nervous I could only ask where the tweezers were, so I bought them and left. I once again had to go back and buy my condoms. So I went up to the salesperson and said, in a low tone, "I need some condoms." The salesperson rang up the sale and said, "First you come in to buy straws, then to buy tweezers, and now to buy condoms..." "...What I want to know is are you going to suck it, pluck it, or fuck it?" FML Posted by: Joe Biden at November 13, 2009 12:46 AM (rYWEB) 534

>>588 Speaking as a retired squid, I'd rather have a daughter in a whorehouse than a son in the Army. Heh. My son Sgt. Chris just recently got out of the Army. 6 years in. GGE.. This is for you... The U. S. S. Constitution (Old Ironsides, berthed 18 miles down the coast from me) as a combat vessel, carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men. This was sufficient to last six months of sustained operations at sea. She carried no evaporators (i.e. fresh water distillers). However, let it be noted that according to her ship's log, "On July 27, 1798, the U.S.S. Constitution sailed from Boston with a full complement of 475 officers and men, 48,600 gallons of fresh water, 7,400 cannon shot, 11,600 pounds of black powder and 79,400 gallons of rum." Her mission: "To destroy and harass English shipping." Making Jamaica on 6 October, she took on 826 pounds of flour and 68,300 gallons of rum. Then she headed for the Azores , arriving there 12 November. She provisioned with 550 pounds of beef and 64,300 gallons of Portuguese wine. On 18 November, she set sail for England. In the ensuing days she defeated five British men-of-war and captured and scuttled 12 English merchant ships, salvaging only the rum aboard each. By 26 January, her powder and shot were exhausted. Nevertheless, although unarmed she made a night raid up the Firth of Clyde in Scotland . Her landing party captured a whisky distillery and transferred 40,000 gallons of single malt Scotch aboard by dawn. Then she headed home. The U. S. S. Constitution arrived in Boston on 20 February 1799, with no cannon shot, no food, no powder, no rum, no wine, no whisky, and 38,600 gallons of water. GO NAVY! Kinda creepy seeing Connery dressed like that...
Thanx for posting the vid, loved it. I guess I'll never get to see a night sky like that here on the east coast. Drudge headline: "Bush warns against federal control of pivate sector..." #590, regarding hope after the fall of the Berlin wall: So did I. I thought: Socialism has truly been discredited. Soon we'll have flying cars! Well, if it wasn't then, it is now with W on board! Finally. Send me my flying car. And I'll have a couple of flying pigs while you're at it. Maybe W realized that "compassionate conservatism" is simply code language for "socialist idiot who thinks true conservatives are congenitally incapable of compassion... prolly because they let leftist assholes define the terms of the debate for them." (It's one of those hi-tech, hi-bandwidth code languages.) Posted by: You're Gonna Need a Montage (rdb) at November 13, 2009 08:47 AM (zvWHK) 607
