| NFL Open ThreadA little different programming this week. Instead of cheerleaders, something important. Soldiers' Angels has a few projects underway for the folks at Ft. Hood. Also at Soldiers' Angels...The annual Project Valour-IT fundraiser.Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries. Technology supplied includes: -Voice-controlled Laptops - Operated by speaking into a microphone or using other adaptive technologies, they allow the wounded to maintain connections with the rest of the world during recovery. -Wii Video Game Systems - Whole-body game systems increase motivation and speed recovery when used under the guidance of physical therapists in therapy sessions (donated only to medical facilities). - Personal GPS - Handheld GPS devices build self-confidence and independence by compensating for short-term memory loss and organizational challenges related to severe TBI and severe PTSD.Apparently the HQ is on Team Marines but the money all goes to the same great cause. NFL? Is that some kind of roller derby league?
Also, I don't follow the logic that cheerleaders are 'unimportant.' Posted by: kefka at November 08, 2009 12:53 PM (n1uMU) 2

My locks for today: Chiefs at Jags (-7), Chiefs win Ravens (-3) at Bengals, Bengals win Texans at Colts (-7.5), Colts win by 7 Cowboys at Eagles (-3). Cowboys win Titans at 49ers (-4.5), Titans cover Chargers at Giants (-5), Chargers win And of course the Patriots win, whoever they're playing this week, doesn't matter. Anyone in Seattle want free tix to the Seahawks/Lions game? Yeah, I know...it's almost too depressing to think about these two bottom-feeders slugging it out in a pillow fight. Ticketmaster just de-listed them, but I think I can still forward them by e-mail right up until game time. Decent seats, on an unobstructed aisle in the lower 3rd of the upper, deck. Under the roof, so warm-ish and dry. Northeast corner. One of the crappy things about watching the NFL in Canada is missing a lot of the cool Super Bowl commercials for blah local content.
One good thing, though, is that apparently the Canadian networks like CTV who control the feeds from FOX can switch games much earlier than south of the border. A few minutes ago, with Arizona up 34-7 on the Bears halfway through the third quarter, they switched to the surpisingly competitive Green Bay-Tampa Bay game. Good call. Who dey. Bitches.
It's our year again. We're allowed one every twenty years. It's in the NFL bylaws, or something. Assured 5-1 in the division, but 6-0 is definitely doable. Then to the playoffs, where Palmer's head will be separated from his torso in the third minute of the first game. Good times. Posted by: Herr Morgenholz at November 08, 2009 05:19 PM (RgXpA) 158

I got a bad feeling about the Cowboys tonight. First away game in a month and they've won three in a row which usually leads to them getting cocky and not trying very hard. I'm expecting Romo to be at his worst. Can Miles Austin bail him out again? Dunno, but i doubt it.
