Those aren't shoulder pads. They're Posh's bony pertrusions. It's never to early to celebrate New Years with Obama. Some surpising people show up for the party. (I was in charge of the guest list.) I read The Road and, frankly, my first thought was "needs more zombies".
One of the most depressing books I've read recently was In The Woods by Tara French. I'm not precisely sure why but I found it unremittingly grim. Man, there are lots of things in the 80's i wish would come back, but shoulder pads ain't one of 'em. Anorexic twigs wear 'em to try and make it look like they got some meat on their bones, but it just looks bizarre. You know what does need to come back? Actually, that's still in fashion in my neck of the woods. Unfortunately, the bodies in the dresses are not the ones that deserve it. Navy, I own 21 guitars, my 8 year old uses an antique or rather vintage Stella Harmony. It's friggin great guitar for an 8 year old, but he's mine and so is the guitar. Takamine's are so very very under-rated, I'd rather play the Tak-g than my Martin, Fender or Gretsch accoustics. My electrics are all my favorite. I play a vintage SG from 76 a 2006 Sg, 65 Les Paul, and 2000 Les Paul w/p 90;s. an 80 Rick 330 an 80 Hamer Special a Tele HMT and a Tele thin line. Sometimes I play my Kramer Ferrington, but not often. I also play an Explorer on occasion. Posted by: gus at November 07, 2009 11:04 PM (MaqIC) 126

I can't tell if it's the router or the modem itself. Considering that I'm actually using the desktop, the laptop, the netbook and the xbox all at the same time at the moment, I really shouldn't bitch. And yet, bitching I am. Posted by: alexthechick at November 07, 2009 11:35 PM (rfBP3) 237

Okay this is going to make me unpopular with this statement and I'm not
trying to be prudish here but ladies, umm, what exactly are you doing
here posting these pictures?? If you say "I can't believe I'm doing
this..." then don't do it. It's not like any of these morons are going
to give you anything in return.
Because it doesn't really matter. Because it's fun. Because I don't care of people know what I look like (although I hid my face - not because of the morons here but because of any other strangers that may be reading). Because half the people here are friends of mine on FaceBook and have already seen the pic - with my face (if they look at my pics, which most people do when they make new FB friends). But mostly because I *finally* have a body that I'm not ashamed about anymore. When I was 94 pounds last year I would not have shared a pic to save my life. Now that I look like a normal human again (about 115 pounds in that particular pic) I am re-learning to stop hiding behind big clothes. For the morons (who am I kidding, for the moronettes too)... I have gained a few more since this summer and it all went to my tits. Seriously. Posted by: Elizabeth at November 07, 2009 11:36 PM (hA5JK) 239

Let me tell you about my super-secret mission to New Ho Chi Minh City for Operation Chupacabra during the Whiskey War of 1976. We were hunkering down in my hidden bunker on Juniper St NW when President Carter sent us a text message that we were to engage and rescue several prisoners who were without proper health care.
Well, that B-52 dropped us perfectly to a point where we could invade and rescue, I tells ya! We stormed the prison, and when we reached the prisoners, I cried to their captors, "Let my people eat cake!" Although our men were in terrible shape --they were denied counsel, affirmative action, affordable housing, or the freedom to abort -- we brought them back safely home. Which goes to show, if you vote Democrat, the Arc of History™ will bend faithfully to the change we are and can believe in. Thank you! Me too. That's what makes them fun for me. I have a tendency to be an anxious person, so by watching something creepy that makes me think I can occupy my anxious mind with worries that are very unlikely to happen (scary movie stuff) rather than real-life stuff. --Wait . . . so mortis really is your bf, Elizabeth? hey, where's Michael in MI been lately?
I gather he's in some sort of self-imposed exile. Look, he's a nice guy, but he needs to stop treating blogs as a therapy/relationship advice service. I've heard a lot of his girl-problem stuff from posts over at Hot Air. I even advised him to avoid this site when threads had to do with relationship stuff because it's really clear he has a certain charming in its own way old-fashioned outlook. So I really can't be overly sympathetic if his feathers are ruffled by our morons. Posted by: Y-not at November 08, 2009 12:40 AM (sey23) Posted by: Y-not at November 08, 2009 12:40 AM (sey23) 392

My fucking gawd. You guys really can't let it go, can you? I commented last night because I thought that would put an end to all the drama about me, but I guess not.
You guys can't decide whether I am some ghey pussy or some emo git or whatever else. You all make up all this shit for why I left... and this is it right here. On one hand you call claim that "it's all in good fun" and then on the other hand get all serious and explain your problems with me (long posts, talked about relationships, he was annoying, I skipped his posts, nobody wants to read that shit, etc). So, in fact, it was not "in good fun". It was your true feelings. Which I knew. Which is why I left. Because I understood that. Why you feel the need to keep talking about this, I don't know. Unless you all just get off on putting others down who don't agree with your world view. I keep telling myself that I need to move to Italy where they don't
have as many blondes. no one likes to look like a dime a dozen and
unfortunately in the midwest there's not much variety.
Lacey, My natural color* is dark blonde with red highlights throughout, and my skin tone is that of a scandanavian blonde (I'm swedish and irish). I occasionally use a semi-permanant dye (straight off the shelf at CVS) to go more red. The color I use is called Spiced Tea, and I think it looks really good with my skin tone. *Honestly, I never know how to describe my natural hair color. That hair color Elizabeth posted was very popular with ladies over 50 in Russia. It was the oddest thing. We were over there in 2004 and I noted that it seemed any woman old enough to have a tiny bit of grey went for that full-on maroonis red. Looked quite odd on a 60+ babuska. Coitus is for closers. Posted by: Blazer at November 08, 2009 01:32 AM Yeah, I did that a long time ago, man. If my posts here were taken as "seeking advice" then that's my fault. I don't come here for advice. I go to family and friends when necessary. My contributions were meant to give a different perspective from a guy who's not like all the rest, since it seemed that M&Ms on the ONT had one world view of what is a woman and what is a man and all had similar experiences in their backgrounds (bad and good) with men and women. I figured I'd share a different perspective. People post here all the time bitching about men and women in their past, divorces, exs, etc. I was just adding my stories to those conversations already happening. So I thought anyway. Michael, you really need to chill out. The whole world isn't picking on you, there are other people in this world with problems too, and it's not our job to make you feel good, it's not our job to please you... Posted by: kbdabear at November 08, 2009 01:37 AM That's what you all just don't seem to grasp. You all really think I came here to have you make me feel good? This place is a time waster for me. Being funemployed, I have a lot of time on my hands and so I chose to spend it getting in conversations here in the evenings. But the conversations were simply time wasters. Data points. After I log off for the night, I go on with my life. I'm not sitting here taking notes about how to go about my life. I just find it interesting sometimes to get opinions on issues from other people. And I really don't know why *I* need to chill out? Chill out about what? I haven't commented here since last Sat night, and that was only to tell Maetenlock to let people have their fun who were mocking me about what I said on the FRI night ONT. It was then I knew that the mocking was not in good fun, it was what you all really thought of me... as it then continued on every ONT SUN through last night and now again tonight. I get it. Which is why I left. I'm not depressed. I'm not freaking out. My life is not devoid of meaning now that I don't have the AoSHQ ONT to comment on. I still read it for the funny comments, but I'm only commenting tonight to dispell all the bullshit people are coming up with for why I left. Posted by: kbdabear at November 08, 2009 01:37 AM Yeah, I didn't post a big complaining rant either. I left the ONT last SAT night saying nothing. 522 alright we need to hear from the morons and their experiences with grecian formula and rogaine and that spray paint for your bald spot It was back during the Tet Offensive against the Japs, and John Kerry and I were in a firefight that is SEARED into our memories. It was so nerve wracking after that, the nightly patrols that my chick magnet hair started falling out. I thought maybe I'd try that mudpack that the comfort girl in Saigon recommended, but the stench of that stuff was worse than an old whore's panties. Some guy in the motor pool lent me some touch up paint to cover up the patches, and it got me through my first campaign for the senate until the fumes started giving me headaches and hallucinations. After that , plugs only for me.

You are brought up in the comments because your missed. Get it?
Posted by: sickinmass at November 08, 2009 01:43 AM Um, explain how people saying that didn't like my comments, mostly scrolled by them, didn't read them, I was too wordy, and talked too much about relationships means that I am missed? Maybe I am logic-retarded, but I read that and interpreted that to mean they were glad I was gone, so they didn't have to read my comments anymore. Which is what I wanted people to tell me in the first place. As kbdabear stated, the ONT isn't the same. And I got the idea that it was partially due to my comments. But then I thought the mocking of me when I was around was "all in good fun", so I kept hanging around. When I saw people commenting when I wasn't around, complaining about my comments, it hit me that it wasn't a joke and they really didn't want my comments. Which is fine, which is why I left. But seeing all this shit and speculation about my mindset and why I left and I don't have thick skin and all this other crap was just annoying. Mocking I would stick around for. But when it is clear, as y-not mentioned on numerous occasions, that people are tired of my shit here, I'm fine with leaving. Posted by: Michael in MI at November 08, 2009 01:58 AM (ObTcs) 554
I know, man. Seriously, I don't give a shit about the piling on. I give a shit about the insincerity of it all. Saying on one hand that it's "all in good fun" and then when I'm not around getting all serious and talking about all that is wrong with me. Shit, palin steele and the rest of the trolls are dealt with in a more straight-up manner.
Just tell me, to my face, you all think I'm a loser "emo git" or "ghey" or whatever else and tell me to get the fuck off the ONT and get lost. I can deal with that. What I don't like... is thinking that the ribbing and locker room humor is "all in good fun" only to find out it's really not. Posted by: Michael in MI at November 08, 2009 01:30 AM (ObTcs) Michael, I think there are several things going on here. First I didn't get the impression that anyone teased you out of malice or truly meant to insult and drive you away. So in that sense it was 'all in good fun'. People wouldn't be talking about you if they didn't miss you in some way. Second posting long multiple paragraph posts and referring to past relationship issues too often are going to annoy people. And some of that annoyance is going to come out as teasing. And so in that sense it does reflect real feelings. This kind of ribbing is a common way to send a signal while avoiding confrontation. If you're the guy who's always late to meetings or always eats the last bit of cake, well eventually someone is going to start busting your chops about it. And yeah at times I've been the buster and the bustee. And I don't claim perfection in these matters either. When I first started commenting here I was bad about posting long essays. I eventually stopped because 1) they were exhausting and 2) no one read them. So now I dole out my 'wisdom' in small droppings. Also I'll spare you the details of my divorce. Suffice it to say that I taxed my friends' patience with my moping. But I realized after a while what a burden an unhappy person truly is and figured out how to deal with it in an upbeat way. Posted by: sickinmass at November 08, 2009 01:43 AM And no, I don't think I am a loser. I am fine with whom I am. When I say I don't have a "man card" or I am a "loser", I am using the definition accepted here of "man" etc. I have opinions on things which people deem as "not having a man card". I thought it was funny. So I mocked myself as not having a man card on things I knew were probably not the concensus opinion here for M&Ms. And I thought it was all a locker room humor thing and I'm one who can mock myself and feel fine with it. But when I read the comments people were making when I was not around, it was clear that it was not humor. If it was, I didn't get the joke. Because the only other people I see mocked on a regular basis when they are not around are trolls. So I just assumed people thought of my comments here as bad as a trolls. So I left. It's really as simple as that. Posted by: Michael in MI at November 08, 2009 02:03 AM (ObTcs) Posted by: laceythelittledrunkaholic at November 08, 2009 02:04 AM (vMBAw) 565

Posted by: Mوtenloch at November 08, 2009 01:59 AM Yes. I understood that 100%. As I said, I read the SAT ONT and it became clear to me that what I thought was friendly ribbing was really real feelings. So I decided to leave. Without any drama queen nonsense. If you recall, I simply responded to a comment you left saying to go easy since I wasn't around to defend myself, with "just let them have their fun. Good to find out what people really think when they talk about you when they think you're not around". And I was going to leave it at that and just stick to commenting on political posts. I went back to "lurking" the ONT, since there is some funny shit that usually goes on. And that's when I saw night after night of me being brought up. Last night I finally got tired of reading all the ridiculous speculation and decided to comment. Bad idea, obviously. heh Posted by: Michael in MI at November 08, 2009 02:09 AM (ObTcs) Posted by: Miss'80sBaby at November 08, 2009 02:09 AM (zmiSr) 580
So I mocked myself as not having a man card on things I knew were probably not the concensus opinion here for M&Ms.
Here is what I think. I think people see you mock yourself in a fun way as part of the conversation.... saying things like not having your man card. By mocking yourself in good fun you are opening the door for people to mock you in good fun. Maybe it didn't seem that way because there were times when it happened and you were not here, but I think that most people feel comfortable teasing/joking you in good fun because you are comfortable teasing/joking yourself on good fun. Does that makes sense? As an example... there are some moronettes here who are totally ok with the sexual innuendos (all in good fun) and the morons here know which female are OK with the goofing around and which ones are not - so they will use the names of the moronettes that are OK with it in other threads at other times because they know that moronette is ok with it herself. In the case of th emoronettes, there are several of us so it's not as obvious when the morons bring us up in other various threads. In your case there is only one of you, so it becomes more obvious and noticeable when your name is mentioned in many threads. That's the way I see it from where I am sitting. My 2 cents. Posted by: Mوtenloch at November 08, 2009 01:59 AM Yeah, see, I'm more direct. If I don't like someone's shit, I tell them to their face and I tell them in a direct manner. And that's the end of it. If I am mocking someone, it means I have no respect for the person and I don't really care if they change their behavior, because if they don't it will just give me more of a chance of getting off on mocking them more. So that's what I took the mocking to mean. Posted by: Michael in MI at November 08, 2009 02:14 AM (ObTcs) 589

Dollhouse season 1 started roughly, I think. It deviated more from Whedon's usual writing and took a little getting used to. I thought it got better as it progressed. I've found this season more entertaining since now the characters are more invested and there's all sorts of things afoot. Posted by: wherestherum at November 08, 2009 02:16 AM (GZnia) 597

Also I'll spare you the details of my divorce. Suffice it to say that I taxed my friends' patience with my moping. But I realized after a while what a burden an unhappy person truly is and figured out eventually how to deal with it in an upbeat way.
Posted by: Mوtenloch at November 08, 2009 01:59 AM That's fine. Thing is, I never started any conversations on the ONT about my personal life. I jumped in on discussions already ongoing. If I were coming here and jumping in at comment 200 with a comment like "hey everyone, how ya doing, well I had another crappy day today and here's why... blah blah emo git shit blah". But that's not what I did. I contributed to ongoing discussions. Now I'm 100% guilty of having differnt opinions on the relationship/life issues which were being discussed, but I didn't threadjack anything. So why I'm the only one taking heat for that, I don't know. Posted by: Michael in MI at November 08, 2009 02:20 AM (ObTcs) 607

No problem! I only remember the name of it because some guy took me to see it as a first date (which was a disaster). He then tried to make up for the disaster by buying me the CD soundtrack from the movie. One of the songs on the soundtrack was "my sharona" and when I listened to the CD for the first time my baby sister (4 years old then) was in my room and started doing this funky weird dance to the song... so yeah.... that long and unnecessary story how I remember the name of that movie. Please, Michael, you're a good guy. Posted by: Miss'80sBaby at November 08, 2009 02:06 AM Yes, I know that. I don't come here for some kind of daily cheering up from the M&Ms. I come here as a time-waster. I jump into ongoing discussions and go from there. Do I have a negative attitude about quite a few things? Sure. But no worse than anyone else who follows politics closely and who has had bad experiences in relationships in the past. Again, most times I talk about relationships is when others bring up the topic. So I give my own examples to add to those already discussed. I'm not looking for anyone to cheer me up about my attitude or to console me or to convince me that I am a good person and good guy or whatever. My attitude is what it is. I think that's what people here just don't get about me. I share because that's how I am. I'm not here to seek advice or be cheered up. It was the dinner scene that ruined it for me. It was so over the top and hypocritical. Interracial gay couple with one half of that couple being handicapped? It's the freaking trifecta! I also didn't like how SJP's character was treated. Like it was ok for her sister to say basically the same thing as SJP but SJP was the one who got blasted for it. And I hate Diane Keaton. Posted by: Elizabeth at November 08, 2009 02:56 AM Click on the picture and you'll note that I wore that only for losing a bet with a buddy of mine over the Winter Classic this past year (Wings @ 'Hawks). I'm a Chicago sports fan all the way. But when my damn 'Hawks blew that game, the rules of the bet were that the loser had to wear the jersey of the winning team, take their picture in it and put it as their Facebook profile photo for all to see... until the next time the losing team beat the winning team. Rotten thing about it was that the Wings and 'Hawks did not play again until the last damn weekend of the season. So I had that disgusting picture up for 3 damn months. Oy. That's the last time I bet on sports... Posted by: Michael in MI at November 08, 2009 03:00 AM (ObTcs) 697

LOL! Yeah, I don't bet on sports at all. Ever.
The Hawks aren't much better, but at least it's not the Wings! In baseball I'm a Sox fan (and anyone but the Yankees) and in hockey it's Rangers (and anyone but the Red Wings). For football it's mostly the Giants, but I have been known to root for the Pats when my man is watching the game (as long as they aren't playing the Giants of course). By the way - how do you know someone lives in Connecticut? They have a New York team as a favorite in one sport and a Boston team as a favorite in another sport. 517 Surveying his demesnes, The One's terrible gaze lighted upon the Pie of the Private Sector and he saw that the Pie was divided into many slices, some large and some small. The One spake, and declared this to be " uhhm-ahh-unfair".
518 Then did He set about to lift His mighty foot (clad in the socks he would strew about the abode of the Gilded Sasquatch) and stomp the Pie of the Private Sector into the dust so that there would be no more slices, some large and some small. 519 At first, the people cried out, bewailing the destruction of their slices but The One was not moved. For He saw the people scrambling in the dirt for the crumbs and that all of the crumbs were equally small. This he declared to be a good thing and He called it CHANGE. 520 Then did the people send the gilded tongued Osegueda as their emissary to grovel at the strewn-sock clad feet of The One. For Osegueda was a learned man having kenned the arts of rhetoric at Edison State and renowned for his skill at the Fry-O-Lator. 521 "Oh Blessed One!", mouthbreathed Osegueda, "I rejoice in your destruction of the unfair Slices and bow in obeisance to your mighty foot! I beseech thee to turn thy stupendous ear (like a radio observatory dish) and hear my plea. The crumbs that I am able to scrounge from the dirt are pleasingly uniform in size but one crumb is too small to sustain me and I am not willing to scrounge for more. " 522 The One listened to Osegueda's plea and heard the truth in his words. He then revealed Himself to Osegueda and the full glory of His benevolence and foresightedness. For, The One and his minions Pelosi and Obey had prepared a special Pie for the Oseguedans. 523 "Behold!", thundered The One, "Here is the new Pie I have caused to come forth from the hellish kitchens of Congress! It is a rhubarb pie and it is unsweetened because I still contest the Cane people of Brazil and will not divert precious corn from the Ethanol plants and Certified Organic strawberries simply cannot be had in such great quantities as I require. You and your people may partake of this Pie, as reward for your loyalty and fecklessness." 524 The hossannas sung by the Oseguedans when His minions began to ration out slivers of the bitter rhubarb pie pleased Him greatly. He saw that the Slices were, in theory at least, uniformly small and named this new Government Pie HOPE. Posted by: Deety at November 08, 2009 04:55 AM (aVzyR) 716

Good Morning Morons
I went through the top 10 Most disturbing books list, like all of these so-called lists things it is nothing more than someone’s opinion.
I note this little piece of BS posted about the “Turner Diaries”:
And the not at all scary thing is that this is still being sold at gun shows all over the US. Sleep tight!
I guess the editor is a liberal anti-gun nut. I have been to many gun shows all over the South and I have NEVER seen that book for sale at any of the booths.
At least he didn’t call it “right wing”.
And no, I haven’t read any of the listed books either. Posted by: Vic at November 08, 2009 07:55 AM (CDUiN) 722
Well, it turns out Major Hasan was just a "typical Muslim fundamentalist" extremist. Attended the same Mosque as one of the 9/11 hijackers.
Hell, for all we know, he was the 20th Hijacker. But I, for one, will sleep better knowing he was not Racially Profiled by the Evil US Military. And Obama is committed to his daughter's right to be forced to wear a burka, have her clitoris snipped off, and be gang-raped if she ever shows her face in public. My only question is: Why are we in the West doing this to ourselves? Posted by: CoolCzech at November 08, 2009 08:28 AM (QECjC) 723
