One of the most depressing books I've read recently was In The Woods by Tara French. I'm not precisely sure why but I found it unremittingly grim. That and I wanted to throat punch the "hero" desperately.

Navy, I own 21 guitars, my 8 year old uses an antique or rather vintage Stella Harmony. It's friggin great guitar for an 8 year old, but he's mine and so is the guitar. Takamine's are so very very under-rated, I'd rather play the Tak-g than my Martin, Fender or Gretsch accoustics. My electrics are all my favorite. I play a vintage SG from 76 a 2006 Sg, 65 Les Paul, and 2000 Les Paul w/p 90;s. an 80 Rick 330 an 80 Hamer Special a Tele HMT and a Tele thin line.
Sometimes I play my Kramer Ferrington, but not often.
I also play an Explorer on occasion.

It reminded me of "Dinner Party" since there was a lot of male-female awkwardness and a breakup developing painfully over the episode. Still, it was not nearly as good.

logprof-I was kinda in and out so I only caught parts but it looked hilarious. I loved the reverse psychology Pam used on Michael until she felt bad about it.
Dwight and Andy play off each other so freakin' well so I love anytime they interact.
I really think this season has stepeed it up. Last season was just kind of meh but I've enjoyed every episode immensely this yaer.

I don't have too many pics of myself on this computer. Most of them are the ones I take when I'm on vacation and I rarely ever take pics of myself on vacation. Never occurs to me. Because it doesn't really matter. Because it's fun. Because I don't care of people know what I look like (although I hid my face - not because of the morons here but because of any other strangers that may be reading). Because half the people here are friends of mine on FaceBook and have already seen the pic - with my face (if they look at my pics, which most people do when they make new FB friends).
But mostly because I *finally* have a body that I'm not ashamed about anymore. When I was 94 pounds last year I would not have shared a pic to save my life. Now that I look like a normal human again (about 115 pounds in that particular pic) I am re-learning to stop hiding behind big clothes.
For the morons (who am I kidding, for the moronettes too)... I have gained a few more since this summer and it all went to my tits. Seriously.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Or one of those "on the rocks of a beach with the wind blowing" types of pics where the waves are creating a spray/mist when it crashes against the rocks since tropical waterfalls aren't exactly common in this part of the world. Jamestown lighthouse beach in RI is the perfect place for rocks with wave splash pics.

My brother was super timid for years. Shy doesn't even begin to describe it. He was shy with people, shy with anything new, shy about anything that could hurt him, etc... Then he went to middle school and everything changed. Mostly due to his group of friends - he hung out with the athletic/jock types. By the time he got to college he was nothing at all like he was when he was a little kid.

And that there is the key. You have to go in every 4-6 weeks for a touch-up. Plus, I don't have time for it. My hair is so ridiculously thick that it takes four hours when I go in for a cut and highlights. I'll do it-at the earliest every 2-3 months.

My natural color* is dark blonde with red highlights throughout, and my skin tone is that of a scandanavian blonde (I'm swedish and irish).
I occasionally use a semi-permanant dye (straight off the shelf at CVS) to go more red. The color I use is called Spiced Tea, and I think it looks really good with my skin tone.
*Honestly, I never know how to describe my natural hair color. If anyone here who has met me or seen my FB profil pic has a good description I'd love to hear it.

I was actually really bad about going in to retouch my highlights. So bad as in I never did it. It actually didn't look weird and awful. But it did take a long time before it all finally grew out and I did do a rinse to cover the last of it when I decided to go back to my normal hair color. It's just too damned expensive to do. I don't trust myself do dye my hair from a box, either.

note to the moronettes: don't ever use the drugstore bottle shit when you're on antibiotics. I did that once and had the worst reaction. My hair turned about 30 shades of everythign and I spent a weekend at the real salon trying to fix it.

That's what you all just don't seem to grasp. You all really think I came here to have you make me feel good? This place is a time waster for me. Being funemployed, I have a lot of time on my hands and so I chose to spend it getting in conversations here in the evenings. But the conversations were simply time wasters. Data points. After I log off for the night, I go on with my life. I'm not sitting here taking notes about how to go about my life. I just find it interesting sometimes to get opinions on issues from other people.
And I really don't know why *I* need to chill out? Chill out about what? I haven't commented here since last Sat night, and that was only to tell Maetenlock to let people have their fun who were mocking me about what I said on the FRI night ONT. It was then I knew that the mocking was not in good fun, it was what you all really thought of me... as it then continued on every ONT SUN through last night and now again tonight. I get it. Which is why I left. I'm not depressed. I'm not freaking out. My life is not devoid of meaning now that I don't have the AoSHQ ONT to comment on. I still read it for the funny comments, but I'm only commenting tonight to dispell all the bullshit people are coming up with for why I left.

It was back during the Tet Offensive against the Japs, and John Kerry and I were in a firefight that is SEARED into our memories. It was so nerve wracking after that, the nightly patrols that my chick magnet hair started falling out. I thought maybe I'd try that mudpack that the comfort girl in Saigon recommended, but the stench of that stuff was worse than an old whore's panties.
Some guy in the motor pool lent me some touch up paint to cover up the patches, and it got me through my first campaign for the senate until the fumes started giving me headaches and hallucinations. After that , plugs only for me.

First I didn't get the impression that anyone teased you out of malice or truly meant to insult and drive you away. So in that sense it was 'all in good fun'. People wouldn't be talking about you if they didn't miss you in some way.
Second posting long multiple paragraph posts and referring to past relationship issues too often are going to annoy people. And some of that annoyance is going to come out as teasing. And so in that sense it does reflect real feelings.
This kind of ribbing is a common way to send a signal while avoiding confrontation. If you're the guy who's always late to meetings or always eats the last bit of cake, well eventually someone is going to start busting your chops about it. And yeah at times I've been the buster and the bustee.
And I don't claim perfection in these matters either. When I first started commenting here I was bad about posting long essays. I eventually stopped because 1) they were exhausting and 2) no one read them. So now I dole out my 'wisdom' in small droppings. Also I'll spare you the details of my divorce. Suffice it to say that I taxed my friends' patience with my moping. But I realized after a while what a burden an unhappy person truly is and figured out how to deal with it in an upbeat way.

If it was, I didn't get the joke. Because the only other people I see mocked on a regular basis when they are not around are trolls. So I just assumed people thought of my comments here as bad as a trolls. So I left. It's really as simple as that.

Here is what I think. I think people see you mock yourself in a fun way as part of the conversation.... saying things like not having your man card. By mocking yourself in good fun you are opening the door for people to mock you in good fun. Maybe it didn't seem that way because there were times when it happened and you were not here, but I think that most people feel comfortable teasing/joking you in good fun because you are comfortable teasing/joking yourself on good fun.
Does that makes sense?
As an example... there are some moronettes here who are totally ok with the sexual innuendos (all in good fun) and the morons here know which female are OK with the goofing around and which ones are not - so they will use the names of the moronettes that are OK with it in other threads at other times because they know that moronette is ok with it herself. In the case of th emoronettes, there are several of us so it's not as obvious when the morons bring us up in other various threads. In your case there is only one of you, so it becomes more obvious and noticeable when your name is mentioned in many threads.
That's the way I see it from where I am sitting.

Dollhouse season 1 started roughly, I think. It deviated more from Whedon's usual writing and took a little getting used to. I thought it got better as it progressed. I've found this season more entertaining since now the characters are more invested and there's all sorts of things afoot.

No problem! I only remember the name of it because some guy took me to see it as a first date (which was a disaster). He then tried to make up for the disaster by buying me the CD soundtrack from the movie. One of the songs on the soundtrack was "my sharona" and when I listened to the CD for the first time my baby sister (4 years old then) was in my room and started doing this funky weird dance to the song... so yeah.... that long and unnecessary story how I remember the name of that movie. Heh, well I think I've just made myself an even bigger running joke here now than I was before, so I dunno.
It's not really about burying the hatchet, it's about fitting in. There clearly are people who don't like my commenting here. Which is why I left. To spare them and myself. I'm not dum-dum. I'm not going to comment to both piss off others and subject myself to mocking.
It's not about thick skin or whatever. It's about commenting here without feeling that people are dreading seeing my comments come up. It's obvious there are enough people here who feel that way, so there's no point to sticking around making their ONT experience less enjoyable.
Anyway, I'll leave you with kittehs and beefcake (well as 'beefcake' as anyone thinks I am anyway, heh).

Click on the picture and you'll note that I wore that only for losing a bet with a buddy of mine over the Winter Classic this past year (Wings @ 'Hawks). I'm a Chicago sports fan all the way. But when my damn 'Hawks blew that game, the rules of the bet were that the loser had to wear the jersey of the winning team, take their picture in it and put it as their Facebook profile photo for all to see... until the next time the losing team beat the winning team.
Rotten thing about it was that the Wings and 'Hawks did not play again until the last damn weekend of the season. So I had that disgusting picture up for 3 damn months. Oy. That's the last time I bet on sports...

The Hawks aren't much better, but at least it's not the Wings!
In baseball I'm a Sox fan (and anyone but the Yankees) and in hockey it's Rangers (and anyone but the Red Wings). For football it's mostly the Giants, but I have been known to root for the Pats when my man is watching the game (as long as they aren't playing the Giants of course).
By the way - how do you know someone lives in Connecticut? They have a New York team as a favorite in one sport and a Boston team as a favorite in another sport.

You want to know what really pisses me off? Pretty much all those talking heads on the Sunday morning shows are millionares or close. Think they drive themselves to work in the morning? I doubt it.. Do You drive yourself to work? Yeah, you do. That's the difference.
So to me, not only is the Congress out of touch, but so is all the national talking heads on TV.
And of course Congress will never, themselves, have to deal with any healthcare bill they pass.
