Just an oddity in my mostly Texan lifetime, when the hell was TCU ever 6th in the polls?
TCU actually used to be a top team. Decades ago (say, the 40s or 50s) they used actually used to be ranked highly on a regular basis. Posted by: AD at November 07, 2009 11:15 AM (KDQqg) 13

Big game here is gonna be KU v Kansas State. KS looking to become the top dog of the Big12 North. Actually, it probably doesn't really matter. Whoever wins will eventually have to play Texas. And I'm not betting against Texas. Posted by: HH at November 07, 2009 11:25 AM (+jvXp) 19
Jim Swink, all amercan running back from TCU and my idol. Saw him play against the Jayhawks and of course he ran a punt back for a touchdown. Also, Crutchfield all american quarterback on the same team, they rocked.

They shared a national title in 1935 under Dutch Meyer with Slinggin'Sammy Baugh on the field. Big powerhouse during the 30s. What's weirder is TCU played the Carnegie Mellon Tartans (their school color is plaid) in the 1939 Sugar Bowl. Carnegie Mellon? My son's a graduate and I didn't know their 5000 student university ever went that far. Things were simplier back then. Posted by: Strick at November 07, 2009 11:35 AM (93CPh) 23

All you cousin-pokin', chicken-chokin', banjo-strokin', inbred racist HICKS. What do Alabama grads call Auburn grads? "Boss." Posted by: BackwardsBoy at November 07, 2009 11:30 AM (ZGhSv) Gibbs was head jock sniffer. He determined when a jock should be washed! That's like winning the ugliest date contest. (laughs) Yeah, you got a point. Problem for KS is that they will still have to play Texas for the Big 12 Championship. 57 Ain't Toby one of you bama crackers, too? Scholarship. Haha. According to my theory, you're a Texas fan too. My theory is that people are either Auburn and A&M fans, or Alabama and Texas fans. The UA and UT fans are borgs who don't think for themselves very well and follow the crowd. They also were big Steelers fans in the late 70s, 49ers fans in the 80s, and Cowboys fans in the 90s. They also pledged allegiance to UNLV basketball, back in the day, yo. Most have never set foot on the campus of either school. ------------------------- Hey, why don't one of you Bammers tell us all about your 47 national championships? Yeah, tell us about 'em. I like the ones where you win the NC and then lose your last game to the #2 team, and STILL claim the NC, the most. I gotta tell you, I grew up in Auburn, and I never heard even the most rabid Bammer mention 17. Newsletter. Oh, and according to Bammer calculatin', we've won about 8. OSU's rout of PSU means the Rose Bowl is still in Iowa's power to get. If Stanzi is seriously hurt, though, the Hawkeyes probably won;t be able to keep up with OSU --although it seems like Iowa does better against good teams than lesser ones.

That being said, this year is where we are. You fuckin' Utes want another shot? Oh, right, you've already lost to a crap-ass team. Nevermind.
