I don't hate Alabama. I was bornded there.

But dad graduated from Auburn so screw them. They mean nothing to me.

alabama-cheerleaders.jpg

That's teh big game today, Alabama (2) and LSU (9) at 3:30 EST. Also OSU (15) lookin to be the spoiler for Penn State (11), same bat time.

Just an oddity in my mostly Texan lifetime, when the hell was TCU ever 6th in the polls?

Enjoy the weekend you moron football lovers.

TCU actually used to be a top team.

Decades ago (say, the 40s or 50s) they used actually used to be ranked highly on a regular basis.

They shared a national title in 1935 under Dutch Meyer with Slinggin'Sammy Baugh on the field.  Big powerhouse during the 30s.

What's weirder is TCU played the Carnegie Mellon Tartans (their school color is plaid) in the 1939 Sugar Bowl.  Carnegie Mellon?  My son's a graduate and I didn't know their 5000 student university ever went that far.

Things were simplier back then.

Scholarship.  Haha.

According to my theory, you're a Texas fan too.  My theory is that people are either Auburn and A&M fans, or Alabama and Texas fans.

The UA and UT fans are borgs who don't think for themselves very well and follow the crowd.  They also were big Steelers fans in the late 70s, 49ers fans in the 80s, and Cowboys fans in the 90s.  They also pledged allegiance to UNLV basketball, back in the day, yo.  Most have never set foot on the campus of either school.

122 Tony Snow's ghost....
"since Gibbsy is from Auburn...."

I had a co-worker who once asked me if I knew what the "n" in "Auburn" stood for.

"N" is for 'nowledge.

[FWIW, Gibbs was born and raised in Auburn, but attended NC State. Source. Go figure.]

And given the bumbling that Gibbs displays on a daily basis, it makes me miss Tony Snow all the more. I hope he's resting peacefully.

126 OSU's rout of PSU means the Rose Bowl is still in Iowa's power to get.  If Stanzi is seriously hurt, though, the Hawkeyes probably won;t be able to keep up with OSU --although it seems like Iowa does better against good teams than lesser ones.

127 Rammer Jammer, bitches! And for you pathetic little Utes, if you wanna live off the past, then suck on these 12 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES! We lost the key offensive lineman a couple of days before that game, lost another to injury in the first quarter and were thoroughly outplayed for most of the game. That being said, this year is where we are. You fuckin' Utes want another shot? Oh, right, you've already lost to a crap-ass team. Nevermind. Now go spank it to your crappy VCR tape of last years game while all 4 of your underage wives watch, K? Come back for a chat when you actually WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Call Saban and let's do a home and home series. I'm sure he wants another crack at you child-marrying dorks.
