Hello mates, Let the healing commence. In the mid-90s I saw Bob Denver at a Don Pablo's. He seemed like an old curmudgeon. He was drunk, quite obnoxious and horrible to his wait staff. Posted by: laceyunderalls at November 05, 2009 10:21 PM (6Z4n6) 11
I love zombie fiction so I was going to pick up WWZ when the paperback came out.Just a quick read through in the bookstore was enough to learn that the zombies were Bush's fault.Or at least the outbreak would have been less terrible if not for the distraction of Bush's war.No sale.

Forgiveness and reconciliation are certainly in order, part of the universal human impulse to belonging and camaraderie. We're a convivial species, one that craves social interaction and a pleasant kind of interaction. Yet we also harbor our baser impulses to engage in antagonistic or even violent confrontation. So the flamewar thread gets those urges into the open and lets them dissipate harmlessly. Posted by: stuiec at November 05, 2009 10:46 PM (rBLs5) 59

Sorry, I was in the shower and catching up on what I missed.
Sassy, re Angela, yeah, I was surprised she was ok with cheating on her fiance. Yet I find her one of the funnier characters on the show, even though she drives me nuts. It's funny to watch the extras and see how she and Jenna Fischer (Pam) are actually good friends. Posted by: wherestherum at November 05, 2009 11:02 PM (GZnia) 100
First of all I know why Gilligan has his hands where they were in that shot. I used to have that problem in high school.
Second, M&Ms to medical pukes means mortality and morbidity. It is an after action report so to speak. "So why did you leave that retractor in Mrs. Paul's abdomen?" That is more appropriate than a sort of 52 to 48 moment with in the party. Other than that girls in bikinis and high heels. Who could argue with that? Rory Gilmore was homely in the first few seasons. But I liked that. She was a wholesome bookworm. In college she came into her own. Posted by: Pug Mahon at November 05, 2009 10:57 PM (yiNoG) And who can forget Zelda Gilroy, the not-hot girl who was about twelve times smarter than anyone else? (the actress was incredible and later became a Lesbian activist) The only common reference from that show these days is Rush Limbaugh making fun of Tucker Carlson, calling him "Chatsworth Osborne III" Warren Beatty was in the cast and Maynard's cousin was played by Michael J. Pollard who was the classic weirdo of all times. Funniest sitcom till Seinfeld. I can't watch the crap they have on these days. My little daughter and I just watch "Spongebob". Also, the person I want to look like is Lorelei Gilmore
When I was in high school, I always planned to dress like Miss Parker on The Pretender once I had a job. I loved her crazy-ass outfits, like the short black skirt, fishnet stockings, bright red blouse, and long trench coat, and I thought it was great how she paired her native aggressiveness and forbidding aspect with judicious use of her sexuality to intimidate the crap out of every man she met. (Until she met the one man who saw past her act to the frightened little girl who missed her mommy, of course. *sigh*) Alas, that kind of look really doesn't work in engineering, so I dress pretty conservatively. I still have dreams of getting a more glamorous job that would allow me to show a lot of leg, though. Posted by: Mrs. Peel at November 05, 2009 11:06 PM (9xiOC) 117

I'll have the town to myself. At the beginning of the trip, I turned on the radio to listen to Glenn Beck. What did I hear? Rep. Bachmann encouraging Americans to come to the Capitol Building to protest the Healthcare Bill ON THURSDAY!! I cannot stand Gilmore Girls style dialogue. I tried watching a couple episodes solely because, yes, the ladies are smoking, but it was unbearable. And in general, the whole cool mom as a best friend to her daughter interaction feels wrong. Maybe once the daughter is an adult, but as a teen? Kinda creepy, at least in my opinion. And I say that as someone who talks to his parents every day.
The Pretender is so good! Loved that show growing up, yes I am that young too. I was so mad at Joss Whedon when I heard about Dollhouse, sounded just like a rip off of The Pretender to me (i.e. different talent every episode), still refuse to watch it even though I'm told it's very different. What are folks' feelings about Fantastic Mr. Fox? I am outraged, in all seriousness. For someone to stand up for a child rapist, and then release a kids movie like a month later... so, so wrong, and more than a little evil. The fact that more people (I mean outside the blogosphere) aren't calling him on that depresses me. But what about pop culture doesn't, these days? Ugh. I liked Zach Braff in the first say 6 seasons of Scrubs. But after that, when he was more famous, it came through in his acting. Especially in season 8 when he wasn't even in some of the episodes.
On a flight out here, I sat next to a guy who claimed to know Zach Braff through friends or something and he said Braff was a douche. Even if the guy was making up knowing him, I'd believe Braff is a douchebag. Posted by: wherestherum at November 05, 2009 11:38 PM (GZnia) 184

Editor lost power? Eek, hope that's not headed my way. I agree Adrian, that the "mom as best friend" thing was a bit much on Gilmore Girls, but given the set up that she'd had her when she was 16 (or maybe 18 not sure) it sort of worked. And, when need be she was a pretty effective mom with her. I think the best part of the show was all the "characters" in the town that were constantly doing weird stuff. Aaron, (#137), I heard Michelle Bachman on Mark Levine when I was driving in my car. She said there were over 20k people there today in The Capitol. She said the police said that they were the most polite, most orderly crowd. She also said the Nancy Pelosi had a couple of them arrested when they showed up at her office (including a priest), and that asshat from FL (Grayson) was threatening to call the police on people. She said they took two of the 2000 page bills, threw them up in the air and told the people to each grab a sheet, cut it in fours and give each person part of the bill to confront their elected officials with (ask them to explain it). This is amazing because this thing got organized last Friday, promoted on Monday, and they had people from across the nation come. She is encouraging people to come back tomorrow and Saturday to continue the fight. Posted by: runningrn at November 06, 2009 12:02 AM (qP2BK) 236

So, not as a comic character, but if he were a real

I think what made Jim so endearing was the fact he was so down to earth and so devoted and true to Pam. He sincerely loved her and was willing to do whatever it took to get her. Plus the fact that they started out as friends first. He gets on my nerves sometimes (I don't think all the little jokes he does are always that funny). Also, I was wondering last year if he was losing his hair (it was an absolute mess, more disheveled than before, and it looked like they were combing it over a bald spot). This year, it looks like it use to. But I'm thinking "hairpiece" (plus I skimmed throught that Andre Agassi article in The Enquirer the other day at the grocery store, he was wearing a hairpiece when he won that French Open--it was falling apart the day of the finals and they had to McGuyver up an engineering wonder with bobby pins and spit to keep it on his head! Many of the western civilizations have already been overrun by Muslim/Islamic populations. As I travel through Canada, The UK, Sweden, Germany, France, Spain, etc. and discuss these problems with colleagues, some of them have begun to take action. We are opening NRA affiliated organizations in Spain, The UK and other places. These populations are beginning to realize that they have a major threat on their hands. At the ground level, they have lost hope that America would protect them from a catastrophe. That hope faded with the election of Obama. They understand better than we do, who and what Obama is. The Europeans and most of the world are playing Obama like the fool that he is.There are sections of communities in some western European countries that their own citizens are forbidden to enter because of the dominance of the Muslim/Islamic population. Hell, there are public and private organizations here in this country that have had to close their cafeteria's, some permanently, to allow Muslims to do their daily prayer routines. Muslims cannot pray where non-Muslims (infidels) have eaten...or so the story goes....It changes from locale to locale...It is all part of a test of our resolve. The regular folks here in this country are awakening slowly to the Muslim threat. Europe has been living with it for many years. The NRA received 50,000, that is Fifty Thousand new applications for membership and training in the first 30 days after the inauguration of Obama. Normal monthly new applications run about 1 to 2 thousand. Most NRA training and certification facilities are already over burdened. Ammunitions inventories are way down, many dealers have little supply on hand. Hopefully, in 2010 we can begin to turn this political mess around. We do have to depend on our financial system surviving and that is probable. There will be a huge write down of assets if the Healthcare and the Cap and Trade bills pass. We are facing a major exodus (I call it the next wave) of the remaining manufacturing companies if Cap and Trade passes. Two of the major A/C manufacturers have already taken commitments to move their remaining production out of the U. S. One has moved to Brazil, the other is moving to Spain. Johnson and Johnson, big cereal manufacturers and the large commercial bakeries are quietly continue their flight to Canada. And, these are just the ones that I am familiar with because of my business involvements. Oh, I forgot....Ford...we supply all of the lubricant for the windshield wiper motors on all Ford vehicles. Well, as of January 2010 all of that production is moving to Canada, to the Ontario plant. Now, this is all in anticipation of the Cap and Trade bill passing. If it goes down to defeat, all of this manufacturing will have already left the country.....Politicians and liberals will NEVER get it right. Have you ever wondered why???...They just don't understand capitalism....But they do know how to screw it up.....Thank God the Capitalists are smarter than they are. The politicians will still be sorting out the banking, insurance, GM and Chrysler mess, wondering how much to pay the Chairman, the CEO, etc, etc., and the horse will have long ago left the barn... Let me tell you about the time I rallied Americans to victory in the battle of Fort Hood.
During the great Wounded Knee Tea Party of 1978, I convened a super-secret mission to suppress the Republican Revolt and insure that dissent would remain unperipatetic and not spread. Just before my 16 commandos and I raided the Republican headquarters, I rallied my men, stirring them by crying, "Gentlemen, do not fire until you see the skin of their teeth!" Only then would America realize its mission to bring freedom of all to enter into a mandatory health care plan to insure care for all! Way late here, but do check out Gatewaypundit, and Insty linked him... the Congress is plainly acting like sovereign autocrats. Boxer and the Demotards have gone nuclear and pushed crap and tax out of committee without any GOP involvement whatsoever. Unless the GOP decides to play rockhardball and break as many "traditions" of the Senate and House as the libtards have and will, we will get not only Hellcare but Crap and Tax as well. The leftist majority in Congress does not care about how loudly the people protest. They will go all out on these two bills. They are playing for keeps and are banking on everyone forgetting by this time next year... before any of the real bad shit in these monstrous laws comes to pass.

PS, I tried on another computer that was not tied in to mime. Same result. This morning, tried ONT. Came right up without any time lag. What's up?
