When will you wingers get it? He'll reign the spending in just as soon as he fixes the economic mess that the Bushitlerchimperorburtonhitler left us in! And then bails out GM and Chrysler. And Goldman Sachs and Lehmann Brothers. And gives everyone healthcare. And gives them an $8000 check to buy a house. And pays them $4000 to destroy a working automobile and buy a new one. But after THAT, he's going to reign in spending, you hateful rightwingcon! Posted by: Empire of Jeff is hung like David Carradine at November 04, 2009 12:47 PM (xGIqT) 27

Members of public sector unions, engorged beneficiaries of that sweet, sweet pork orgy called the stimulus, the UAW, Goldman Sachs, etc.. They're not wrong to be pleased with Obama so far either either. As far as they are concerned, he's done a dandy job of "keeping federal spending under control" by directing it right into their pockets. Posted by: Deety at November 04, 2009 12:52 PM (aVzyR) 30

Thanks, JB.
When 31%of the country are IQ 92 and below, things are going to get screwed up. The mean needs to be shifted upwards, big time.
Posted by: grognard at November 04, 2009 01:02 PM (v0kvW) 37
BTW:
"IQ 76 - 92: Life is tough at this level. Anything other than unskilled labor is a trial, though semi-skilled work is possible. Learning is slow, simple and needs to be supervised closely to be effective. With application they may graduate from primary school but will nevertheless flounder quite badly in high school. Their reasoning is very superficial and concrete and they cannot see the essential form inherent in many examples of similar things. Most will never be functionally literate and the rest will not understand anything more complex than a popular magazine. It has been estimated that people in this category commit about 75% of all petty and violent crimes..." In other words, typical Democrats. Posted by: JB at November 04, 2009 01:05 PM (1OoPr) 38

grognard:
You have no idea how this issue has been keeping me up nights. Considering that non-PC researchers believe that IQ is substantially heritable (with significant group as well as individual differences), this puts a whole new spin on certain political issues. Ways to increase mean IQ: 1) IQ-based immigration policy. 2) Nootropics. 3) Genetic engineering. 4) A benign form of eugenics (perhaps required long-lasting birth control for welfare recepients.) I fear education policy can at best increase IQ by a few points. Posted by: JB at November 04, 2009 01:14 PM (1OoPr) 44

JB -- I don't think selecting people for "mild eugenics" isn't such a grand idea, nor would it necessarily boost a nation's average IQ. If you went by that program, you'd end up encouraging people like my ex and his wife (IQs 115 and 88 respectively) to breed like rabbits, and you'd be sterilizing my current husband and myself (IQs 138 and 140 respectively) -- we had to draw welfare and for about 4 months in there after my husband got out of the military due to lack of decent insurance and a family to care for back a few years ago; shit happens. Oh, and to further take this excercise: ex and wife's kid? has seen jail, does drugs, will be appyling for need based grants (didn't score high enough on college entrance to get anything but) -- she's staying with her biological dad so they can do this (kinda sneaky if you ask me); my kids out of that marriage and by this marriage? Scored highly on SAT/ACT (a 32 and a 34 so far), went the military route, are being considered for OCS, can apply for scholastic grants for college if they decide to get out. And just to rub it in further: my ex and his wife -- huge credit card debt and big O supporters, my husband and I...well, no credit cards because we don't believe in them, and I think you can guess what our support of the one is like. So are you sure you want to sterilize us, because under your interpretation, we deserve it due to those 4 months those many moons ago -- even though our IQs are decent and our family has since proved to hold its own, and hasn't really bilked the system as much as my ex's is setting to do here shortly.
