Gee, whatever did the Democrats do to give these crazy rightwingers the impression that Virginia was a referendum on Obama?![]() Comments1

You know what this race needs? It needs an endorsement from Sarah Palin! We cherish her, because she's driving the moderates and independents to vote for higher taxes and more government. Which is exactly why we are doing our best to drive a stake through her blessed little heart.

It's such a funny dynamic between the MSM and most of the country. Obama, the MSM, and most of the people know that these elections are a referendum on the last year of Dem rule. But they think that if they don't admit it or report it then it isn't so.

What would prevent the democrats from running a third party independent in virtually every race to thus take votes away from the republican candidate? Daggett comes off as an attractive libertarian, but when you peel back the man, he seems more sympathetic to Corzine and would almost surely throw his support behind him if forced to. Still, I bet he's taking more votes from the republican then the democrat. Same with Scozzafava. I think the dems love this third party talk - ala Perot - he will take votes from the right and only enable the left.

Obviously you're going to have to just nod your head, pass the tests, and graduate but I wonder if you could play the fool occasionally when they cough up a lib talking point. Pad your question first, "Since we're always dealing with multiple truths, there must be other positions here." Go for the obtuse challenge, "What is the main position of the opposition here?" They'll dutifully reply with a cartoon version of the conservative position of course. And the subtle knife, "Would you say that the opposition would say that's a fair summary of their position?" Then thank them for their honesty because there's no way to answer that honestly without making the response look like complete cant and distortion. He began by explaining why abortion should be an option then he tried to turn it around with an anti-abortion argument. He was dumbstruck. Couldn't think of a single reason why anyone could oppose abortion. Finally one of the students helped him out by stating (and I quote) "blah, blah, blah." He jumped all over that using "blah, blah, blah" and off he went to continue making his point. Posted by: WalrusRex at November 03, 2009 01:43 PM (xxgag) 116

There is a woman (former news anchor with no government experience, but fiscally conservative) running against him. I would hope that voters would look at the bad economy and vote for someone who would change the direction of the county (putting aside their stance on abortion). Unfortunately, as you point out, the abortion issue is like an Holy Grail to Pro-Choice zombies. Therefore, there are idiots that would rather pay higher taxes and have worse transportation and a business unfriendly environment than vote for the "radical right winger." The guy was talking about raising taxes until she won in the primary (we have a top two primary in our one party state, which really sucks, so the fact she emerged from that was amazing). Heh! Byron York articulates the Obama Modus Operandi in his column in the washingtonexaminer.com: During last year's campaign, I spent some time in Chicago looking into Obama's career as an organizer. A number of the people he worked with back then -- he was on the job for all of three years, from 1985 to 1988 -- are still in the field today, and they have vivid memories of their time with future president. Talking to them, and looking back over Obama's record, it was hard to avoid the conclusion that as an organizer, Obama started a lot of projects, gave a lot of inspirational talks, but accomplished very little. Among other things, Obama tried to find new jobs for displaced steelworkers, to create after-school programs, and to bring new political power to public housing residents. But he truly succeeded at just two things. One, he pushed the city of Chicago to open up a summer-jobs office on the far South Side, where there had not previously been an office, and two, he helped force the city to clean up asbestos in a 1940s-era housing project in the same neighborhood. That was it. I'm sure this comes as no surprise, but it just reinforces why having him come out and support a candidate early on means two words: Jack and Squat. Oh, here is a snippet from the speech Obama gave at the Deeds campaign stop 5 days ago: Obama leveled with the crowd about the election but said Deeds can still win. "Let's be honest: This is going to be a tough race. We've got a tough economy. And even if it wasn't a tough economy, it's always tough in Virginia," the president said. He also joked that Deeds is hardly the candidate from central casting, referencing his tousled hair and sometimes "askew" necktie. "We don't need politicians who are more interested in scoring points than solving problems. We don't need folks who are slick," Obama said, taking a veiled shot at McDonnell. The president also spoke of his own troubles and critics in Washington, as he deals with issues. "When I showed up after the inauguration, they left a big mess on the floor. So I got a mop and I started cleaning up the mess. That's OK. I don't mind," he said to applause. "But you know," Obama continued, "it does bother me when they start saying, 'You're not mopping fast enough. You're not holding the mop the right way.' My attitude is 'Why don't you grab a mop?' " He's still spouting the same old tired saw. I think people are starting to tire of this schtick. Posted by: John I served in Vietnam Kerry at November 03, 2009 02:36 PM (qP2BK) 196
Yes, Barack, you are the most ineffectual president this country has ever seen. You will be looked upon with scorn. Your legacy will be of disgrace, you have cheapened the office of president and have brought great shame to yourself and our country. You are the last black president, is that the legacy you wanted Barry?. Now move along and throw another party, unless uncle soros says not to. "the usual photos of sad girls crying because they couldn't get an abortion." I would love to see this. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that here in a TX election. Is it obvious? Like, a third-trimester 17-year-old with her little outtie bellybutton poking out of her shirt looking all sad and dejected while a much-taller, clean-cut doctor in a white lab coat points towards the door with one hand, clutching an unusable saline-filled syringe / long-handled forceps / slimjim forlornly at his side? Can't believe Obama okayed that picture. It seems to say "I'm an arrogant ass, but I'd be an even bigger prick if I hadn't taken all those quaaludes."

reason, nothing that obvious. Just a dejected teenage girl in a hoody with the red "no" circle over her and the word "abortion" next to it. By the way, your comment in the stimulus post was hilarous: Most people will pay a streetwalker to pretend she's something a little more desirable for a few hours. Here at AoSHQ, we offer a desirable woman money to pretend she's a streetwalker for a few hours. Posted by: ParanoidGirlInSeattle at November 03, 2009 03:01 PM (RZ8pf) 203

Oh yeah, one more thing before I run, do you guys remember when Obama was at Grant Park alone on the stage after he won the election? I think it was Tom Brokaw and Charlie Rose or Charlie Rose and Evan Thomas. I think Charlie Rose said something like "He's looking down on the crowd, watching us watch him, it's a little creepy." That is what that picture reminds me of.
