| PPP: Christie Leads Corzine 47-41The final PPP survey before the vote has Christie ahead by six. That's outside the margin of error and so, hopefully, tomorrow's vote will be firm enough to withstand a Democratic election challenge. Interestingly, Daggett is now seen as spoiling Corzine:Christie's advantage is due largely to his support from independents and because he has Republicans more unified around him than the Democrats are around Corzine. Christie leads Corzine 52-29 with indies, as Daggett's support with that group has declined to 16%. Christie is getting 82% of Republicans to Corzine's 72% of Democrats. As the campaign concludes it seems like Daggett's presence in the race has actually ended up hurting Corzine more than Christie, contrary to the earlier conventional wisdom. 45% of Daggett voters say the incumbent is their second choice to 36% for the challenger. Daggett's backers report having voted for Barack Obama by a 67-23 margin last year.New Jersey is a blue state that habitually reelects the incumbent. And President Obama sent his GOTV people to Corzine, who has been nothing but a puppet for the past two weeks. Yesterday I suggested that Corzine would pull out a bonafide win or a win via election challenge. It would be nice to be wrong. Comments1
are you listening, Governor Patrick?

"hopefully, tomorrow's vote will be firm enough to withstand a Democratic election challenge." I remember also that there was a chance for Bush to win "America's Armpit" in 2004, but that didn't happen. I do hope Christie pulls it out, but since it's New Jersey, I won't be surprised if Corzine wins again. People get the government they deserve, and in the end, there will be only chaos. I'll do my part voting for Christie tomorrow. Not my favorite ballot to cast in my lifetime, but could be a lot worse, and usually is in New Jersey.
Corzine will steal it anyway, though. I am convinced that NJ elections have been stolen for years. Not that it even matters much, since 95% of the time, the NJ GOP is completely infiltrated by dems... pretty much ALL our Republican pols are Skozzafava's, or close to it. Republicans always get a big jump in the polls on the last day of the race. That is when the liberal SOBs who run most of the polls have to become more honest so that when the real “poll” is held they don’t look like complete idiots.

Interesting polling from Ras. GOP identification is slipping a bit (and Dem identification is increasing a bit), but today's Ras tracking says -13 Obama. 46% at least somewhat approve and 52% at least somewhat disapprove, which is, I think, the biggest spread in the softer numbers.

Fuck it. I'm calling it right now. Hoffman wins. Unless the people up in NY-23 are complete dunces, there's no way Scooz's supporters switch to Owens. Owens already had the moonbat vote, already had the liberal vote, and already had the left-leaning moderate vote. That leaves the conservative vote, the Republican vote, and the tiny right-leaning independent vote to choose between Hoffman and the Scooz. This is right-leaning district, mind you. So tell me, why would any of the aforementioned right-of-center blocs vote for Owens? They wouldn't. The only 'scooz' votes that Hoffman won't get are a) the votes from Scooz, her husband, her family, and her friends, and b) the handful of righties who are too stupid to realize Scooz is no longer in the race or was never a legit (R). Hoffman wins on 11/3. QED Posted by: Dean Tweet at November 02, 2009 11:36 AM (z37MR) 62
I think I heard a Christie pollster/campaign worker on local radio claim that the number of absentee ballots submitted in Camden exceeded the number of people who had registered for absentee ballots, which got me thinking that the idea of stuffing ballot boxes en masse, preemptively, is rather gauche. The purpose is, I think, a litigious foothold to mire down the election, whereupon the ballot box stuffing can actually begin.

Thanks for the info, Triumph. It's good to know Hoffman won't be standing there alone with his thumb up his ass wondering how the Democrats got away with stealing the election. Posted by: Tweet beats dead horses at November 02, 2009 12:22 PM (z37MR) 98
Are serious? Cause that would be hilarious if that is true. Pookie was a character in a movie called New Jack City played by Chris Rock. The character was a thief and a crack addict who ended up getting shot. I tried posting this on the "party purity" thread, but it wouldn't take. Unfounded fears... more about the Third Party fears at The Other McCain. (Who is also covering NY-23 directly, live.) And, oddly enough, the phrase "party purity", whether as an insult or a statement of fact, isn't used fifty times in it. Posted by: andycanuck at November 02, 2009 12:40 PM (2qU2d) 110
Well, not only is Scuzzface endorsing Owens, she's campaigning with him as well. She appeared at an Owens campaign event at his request. From Hotair's headlines: On Sunday, at an Owens campaign event at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall on Gouverneur Street, Mr. Owens and Ms. Scozzafava talked politics during their meeting. She warned him to avoid the "hateful and divisive" tactics she said were used by her Conservative opponent. Posted by: runningrn at November 02, 2009 12:44 PM (qP2BK) 111
From the Weekly Standard, Joe Biden's packing them in: Biden is going to speak any minute, and there are maybe 250 people gathered (50 of them are with the media); Watertown has a population of 30,000. The event is open to the public--no one needed a ticket to get in--but the room is only about 65 percent full. The turnout suggests that Joe the Vice President might not connect with working class voters (the kind who populate Watertown) as much as the White House believes he does LMAO! Go Joe!
