| Pataki Endorses HoffmanDede Scozzafava, Newt Gingrich hardest hit. As someone personally engaged in the way of life in the Adirondacks and Northern New York, I’m deeply concerned about the course of our nation and the outcome of the election in the 23rd Congressional District. Simply put, we cannot afford to give another vote to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid we cannot afford another vote for higher taxes, we cannot afford another vote for government run health care and we absolutely cannot afford another vote to take away from hard working men and women the right to secret ballot. That is why tonight, I’m proud to endorse Doug Hoffman, a Republican, running on the Conservative line for Congress in the 23rd Congressional District.Newt Gingrich reacts to the news: Comments1

If Conservatives split the Republican vote giving BHO a win, then too bad. Because voting Republican now is really voting BHO-lite so you may as well lose to either if you can't win Conservative.

He always struck me as a blathering boring bullshit artist. He was easily the most pedantic politician of the past thirty years. He screwed up his political career, let the Clintons make mincemeat of him in 1995/6 and then threw his job away with a public affair. Ral genius, there. I'm just glad his innate ability to self-destruct lasted just long enough to wipe him off the politcal map for 2012. He was a total disaster waiting to happen for the conservative movement, the dumb prick. Posted by: TexasJew at October 30, 2009 12:58 AM (VPwsO) 27

Newt jumped the shark named Pelosi on that sofa by the ocean, while he waxed mournfully about global warming.
The guy is unelectable and leads no one, suffers from a clipped and terse pedantic diction, hasn't aided conservatives in any appreciable way since the nineties, and sports a serious addiction to guest spots with Hannity. Anyone recall his jabber about a "third way" for conservatives... that sounded suspiciously like industrial policy in the manner of Japanese government command and control of large economic interests? He has one thing in common with David Frum... he's not really a conservative. Posted by: George Orwell at October 30, 2009 01:07 AM (AZGON) 37

He's examining 1900 pages of Pelosi Hellcare to find the choicest bits of 21st Century Solutions and Alternatives To Outdated Reagan Dogmas. There's something on almost every page he likes. As long as he gets to be on TV for his efforts.

Newt is invested in the GOP. He has that proverbial tenure that the machine so adores. GOP by itself or GOP with conservatism is fine by Gingrich. Conservatism sans GOP not so much.
I'm guessing he wants a guaranteed return on his investment of time and past efforts. The GOP apparatus will provide for him the most. I'm guessing a new focus where conservative principles trump personalities will not give him the status he now expects. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at October 30, 2009 01:49 AM (C3uAX) 47

I think election day this year, in an off year, is getting very interesting. Today a friend said that corezine is only taking a dollar in salry and has good connections that the state need so, even if she doesn't like a lot of what he has done, she is voting for him anyway. She is the second person to say that voting for duggat will elect corzine so she might as well just vote for corzine. She also is the second person to say that she doesn't want Christie to get in cause he will put the state through hell uncovering all the corruption and cleaning things up. Seh basically said that Jersy makes NYC in the dinkins administration look like a bunch of choir boys and look how Guiliani had to clean things up. So, although she knows she is voting for corzine for all the wrong reasons, she is still voting for him. so there you have it, the second person to tell me this kind of stuff iin three days.
Posted by: curious at October 30, 2009 02:33 AM (p302b) 51
The hand-wringers who argue that we all ought (cue the song) look for the GOP label don't get it.
The GOP put Obama in the White House.
Eight years of the 'compassionate conservative' Mumbler-In-Chief, a few terms of failed GOP leadership in Congress, and the American people voted in a complete nonentity with a nice suntan and - oh yeah - 'temperament'. And they gave the Congress to just about the worst bunch of statists the world's seen since Pol Pot got the boot.
Either the GOP will be brought back, kicking and screaming, to something resembling basic principles or we will kick it to the curb and suffer through whatever it takes to build something better.

It's still beyond me why Newt gets credit for the Contract with America.
He was speaker, but the Contract and the good works done by the GOP in that era are something that Newt jumped onto. If anything, he stopped it dead in its tracks. Palin started the ball rolling on this race. Many have followed her idea of endorsing, the same boost she gave Mccain has lifted Hoffman, and some have been proven a bit weak. If someone out there wants to show us they are better at leadership than Palin, they had better step up to the plate quickly. snip~ Here is Moulitsas realizing that he had a big mouth with his endorsement and is now "gaming it out" in a laughably absurd explanation about why his original endorsement wasn't really an endorsement: I have no love for the Democrat, Owens, and I clearly have no love for Scozzafava in that post, so only an idiot would construe that as an "endorsement". An endorsement implies love for the candidate being endorsed. I wish nothing but ill will for all candidates in this race. But the GOP is full of idiots, and they've run strong with it, making my "endorsement" part of their anti-Scozzafava narrative. And now we're in a situation in which the conservative candidate Doug Hoffman has a real chance of performing better than the Republican. Um...please forgive me, Markos, for quoting you directly but let me repeat what you stated on October 1: ...So it's official, I'm rooting for the Republican to win. You were "rooting for" the Republican to win and you even made it "official." If that's not an endorsement, then I don't know what is. Oh, you stated that an endorsement "implies love for the candidate being endorsed." Um...no it doesn't, Markos. Hillary Clinton eventually endorsed Barack Obama for president last year. Do you actually think this implied love on her part? Moulitsas then tries to distance himself for the harm his original endorsement caused: So I'm no longer rooting for a Scozzafava victory. That gets us nothing. And I'm not rooting for a Hoffman victory, and I'm certainly not rooting for Owens because I'm over Lieberdems. I'll leave it to others to try and squeeze out my "endorsement" from that steaming pile of dog s--t. But I'm rather pleased I've been used to attack Scozzafava by the likes of Club for Growth and Glenn Beck. Such mischief is almost Rovian! Posted by: 52% at October 30, 2009 09:14 AM (VuLos) 91
This just in. John Boehner endorsed Dede Scozzafava in September.

I think that for the next few months, everytime the RNC mails me some
BS, I'm going to write HOFFMAN on it with a large sharpie and send it
back to them.
I've been wondering what to do with all those "official surveys" that don't have any space for me to write what I really think... Posted by: HeatherRadish at October 30, 2009 09:22 AM (NtiET) 97
HeatherRadish: Write HOFFMAN on the envelope too. Most of the time those surveys are just opened to see if there are checks inside.

Why should Newt get credit for the Contract with America? I can't think of a single point that is still in force.
He saw it as a way to get power, not as a way to change government. The first is the political view, the second is the conservative view. Newt is not, never was, and never will be a conservative. Hmm, Owens gets no love from Kos, either? Sounds like he might be farther right than Dede, too. Interesting that the R in the race is furthest to the left.

Ask for a refund...that gets their attention.
All of the congress critters that aren't voting the conservative line they promised should pay up. Call the RNC, RCC, etc....ask when you should be receiving your refund. Posted by: non_dhimmie at October 30, 2009 10:03 AM (cFwGO) 106
Was that Newt Gingrich that just jumped over me??!!!
Posted by: Shark at October 30, 2009 11:17 AM (SSZkW) 107
Newt should man up and just say he blew it on this one. You can un-jump a shark, but it takes a bit of humility and well...you have to WANT to do it. I see little humility or desire here.
Newt has rendered himself obsolete. Posted by: Purple Avenger at October 30, 2009 11:39 AM (Ieh5q) 108
While stationed in Germany, I stored a multi warhead tipped missle in my ass. At least that's what the guy behind the dempster called it. He had to put both his hands on my shoulders to stabilize himself while it was being positioned.

"As someone personally engaged in the way of life in the Adirondacks and Northern New York, I’m deeply concerned about the course of our nation and the outcome of the election in the 23rd Congressional District." George Pataki. So you vacation in the Adirondacks during the summer. Good for you, George! But we still all know you're really from Peekskill. * for those of you playing at home, Peekskill is in Westchester County, which is the next County north of the Bronx, and is definitely not Northern New York. If you want them to read, or at least notice, your comments to the RNC, RNCC, etc.; print them on your computer, and cut the paper to the size and shape of a check. Put that in the envelope, and they will slice themselved to ribbons with paper cuts trying to get to it. They may round-file it, but they will notice it. If you write on the envelope, they will just throw the whole thing away unopened.

This could have known also as the best idea ever. Mattel Barbie has always been LV Handbags quite fashionable. And it is perfectly logical that they should be rocking the Christian Louboutin, as the ladies of Sex and the City. We can not wait to wear it!
Now that which is most of us grew up, we probably do Louis Vuitton not think of Barbie too often. But she is still alive and healthy, and many adults have collections of special edition Barbies. And now there is a trendy brand new Barbie on the block. He tries to make clear that it is, with the words: ?¡ãBarbie has always been shaped feet less?¡ÀCheap UGG Boots curve ?¡ãthan the rest of her perfect body. I have only my little science for Barbie and I am proud to serve her. But she did not have thick ankles, they could just have a thin ankle. That is all. OK, think we are so terribly Designer Handbags thin Barbie still meet their ankles for the rest of her body.
