New Jersey Democrats Ask Secretary of State to Ignore Wildly-Mismatched Signatures on Absentee Ballot Requests

From small ACORNs grow mighty oaks of voter fraud.

Currently, when a county clerk rejects an absentee ballot request, they try to contact the voter, through mail, by phone, and in some cases, they make an attempt to contact the voter in person. And a person who has spoken to some of New Jersey’s county clerks says they’re granting wide latitude on signature styles; for them to reject a ballot request because of the signature, it has to be dramatically different from the one on file.

Could some of these cases be the circumstance an election official misjudging natural deviation in two handwriting samples from the same person? Certainly, and that's why the current system has clerks reaching out to the rejected voters (presuming they actually exist) to sort out the discrepancy. But Democrats want to short-circuit the established methods of sorting out the problem, and in fact ban rejections based on signature mismatches entirely.

Yes, by all means, let's ignore the obvious sham nature of these requests and issue ballots anyway. Imaginary people and dead people have rights, too.

Incidentally, it seems someone in NY23 is already preparing the ground for an election challenge, too:

Of the 11 counties in the 23rd, seven will be using paper ballot/optical scanning voting systems rather than the lever machines, said John Conklin, spokesman for the state Board of Elections. Two counties will combine old and new systems, while another two -- Clinton and Essex -- are keeping lever machines.

...

One wrinkle to note if the 23rd becomes a photo-finish race: The paper/scan devices are being used on a pilot basis -- and they haven't been fully certified by the state.

Conklin said the devices are on track to be certified by the end of the year. And Lipari added that they've been trouble-free so far.

...

In a related matter, the Associated Press reports Democrats are heading to court seeking to have voting machines impounded on election night. Democrats say they're going to court early because a portion of the district is requiring people who registered to vote in time for federal elections, but not in time for state and local elections, to vote on ballots -- not on the pull-lever machines.

The only election Democrats aren't going to steal is VA-GOV, because that one is just silly.

Thanks to DrewM. and notropis.

4 My real concern is that since Hoffman doesn't have a major party behind him, he may not have the money or man power to fight a big post election fight.

I wonder if it is between him and Owens if the Republicans will 'adopt' him, since he likely want to caucus with them anyway.

Might be a good chance for the RNC and RCCC to send an olive branch to the base.

At least the Dems are consistent.  They don't like signatures on contracts having any meaning, either.  Dems just don't like signatures as binding and distinguishing marks, since ... that's racist!!

Related, that's also why they hate the flag, too.  It's not so much that it's a symbol, but that it can actually carry a legal meaning when flying.  As an aside, the dems are authorizing $200 billion in emergency funds to bomb the moon, again, but this time they say that the aim is not for scientific research, but just to destroy the American flags on the moon.

Well I hope that the GOP in NJ has their lawyers out as well (geez, it's sad it's come to this) and I hope Hoffman has people on the ground as well.  One would think that when you see voter fraud buried year after year that private individuals (with deep pockets) would try to use the court system to force the government to do a proper investigation.

70 I guess voter fraud is the secret plan libs are relying on to stay in office after 2010.  Incidentally, do you think there might be collusion between the MSM and Acorn to coordinate expected results (via MSM polls) and actual results (via magic ballots, the Disney/Dead vote, etc) so as to minimize the appearance of fraud?  That wouldn't necessarily help with having more votes than registered voters, but it's not like that was a problem in the 2008 elections.

Yet what will be done about it? Nothing.  People will retreat a little more, promising to "fight" next time, but not one damn thing will change.

The Dems are pretty much in the same position as the North Vietnamese Army in 1975 - their opponents are running away and disintegrating so fast that their plans cannot keep up with it.

And this, Ace, is why the dems can do whatever they want: Obamacare, cap and tax, defeat in Afghanistan, Iranian nukes - none of it will matter when they can use voter intimidation, voter fraud, and outright vote buying to rig elections the way they want.  The US will soon be a de facto one party state, and I don't see the republican party lifting a finger to stop it.

Theres been little things on TV, stuff on the newspapers even little ads on the web reminding me I can still vote by paper ballot, what happened to this stuff being for people who couldn't show up to vote because of work travel, sickness, being in the army, ect.

We now need to vote from home because we can't walk 2 blocks away?  If you can't do that much it shows how little you care for voting, odds are you're just selling your vote away.

We already had some problems during the Pres. Election where Dem workers went to nursing homes and got them to sign for absentee ballots, which the people never got, when they showed up to vote they were told they couldn't.

I wouldn't doubt we're going to have many Saint Nicks, George Bushs and Barack Obamas voting in NJ, I mean the dems can't even try to think up good names.
