Real? Schwarzenegger Letter to Assembly Spells Out F.U.?
Update: Confirmed, with Background

I'm calling shenanigans on this until I -- or, preferably, someone else -- confirms it.

But... as people are emailing the story around.

Seems very, very unlikely to me. I see no link to the letter in the state's official archives or anything.

Link? Kaiser Wilhelm sends this official looking link.

Adobe's not working for me so I can't open the damn pdf.

Background: The assemblyman making this request heckled Schwarzenegger at a speech in San Fran, shouting, "Kiss my gay ass!"

So, despite the left's hyperventilating over this: Seems kind of appropriate.

2 If it's true, it's gone a long way to rehabilitate Arnold in my estimation.

That's my take on it too. It seems legit as you can find it on the CA.gov site, but I'm absolutely positive Arnie does not have the gray matter or balls to pull this off.

Schwarzenegger has kissed so much Dem ass these past few years that I totally doubt that he had the courage to even think this, let alone do it.

Posted by: Jim in San Diego at October 27, 2009 08:08 PM (H7Rlw)

11 I doubt it. But it could be one of those clever ploys where you do some gag like this because you know there are some people who hate you so much that they scour everything for a reason to attack you.

And only those people would be dumb enough to accuse you of intending the infraction, which is entirely unprovable and full of plausible deniability, thus making them look stupid and paranoid.

Only through mutual respect and restoration of

Sustain lasting budgets and
Universal support for our agenda.
California cannot continue to apply this electoral

14 Doesn't do it for me.  Where is the spending reform?

Posted by: dogfish at October 27, 2009 08:14 PM (ov3Hi)

15 First sensible thing Arnold's done since he rolled over and went Dem after the 2005 initiatives. Ammiano's a first-rate rashy dick, he was a dick as a SF Supervisor, he's a dick in the Assembly, he'll probably run for SF mayor, win, and be a dick there too.

Posted by: mrkwong at October 27, 2009 08:15 PM (G8Eo0)

16 I give Arnold credit for the ballot initiatives he tried to curtail the unions and spending when he first got into office.  He got real close, especially given what the political landscape was at the time.  After that he gave up and has been useless.  It those initiatives came out today, I think at least 1 or 2 sneak through.

Yes, it's real.  Here is the official press release on the Governor's web site announcing the bills signed and vetoed that day, with a link to the veto message.

I want to know who wordsmithed this to capture Arnold's tone while creating the acrostic.  If it was the Governator himself, I'd be impressed.

Here it is:

To the Members of the California State Assembly:
I am returning Assembly Bill 1176 without my signature.
For some time now I have lamented the fact that major issues are overlooked while many
unnecessary bills come to me for consideration. Water reform, prison reform, and health
care are major issues my Administration has brought to the table, but the Legislature just
kicks the can down the alley.
Yet another legislative year has come and gone without the major reforms Californians
overwhelmingly deserve. In light of this, and after careful consideration, I believe it is
unnecessary to sign this measure at this time.
Sincerely,
Arnold Schwarzenegger

Really, having read both the letter and the

The basic gist that he was getting across wasn't a

earlier thought.

As a way of redeeming my earlier assumption, I
recant my previous comment in #43, and take
this opportunity to encourage others to

65 That's my take on it too. It seems legit as you can find it on the CA.gov site, but I'm absolutely positive Arnie does not have the gray matter or balls to pull this off.

This is just flat wrong. Arnold is actually a pretty smart guy - he moved here from a foreign country, got an MBA, turned a career as a friggin'bodybuilder into a multi-million dollar business empire and became governor of the country's largest state. That kind of thing doesn't happen by accident.

In terms of balls... well, he's term limited out, right? He can't run for president anyhow (not that he'd win). What's the worst thing that can happen? He's probably about ready to go back to Hollywood anyhow.

It's not overly classy, I'll grant you, but it's very, very Arnold - remember when he called the Democrats "girly men"? I'd be surprised if he didn't pen it himself. His aides were probably begging him not to send it out - they don't have his millions to fall back on when he's not governor anymore.

75 Good lord, Ace.

Do you really want to spend your credibility this way?

The linked .pdf is obviously faked. It's not even on purported letterhead. It's just a message typed on a piece of paper.

This is exactly the type of punking that causes conservative websites to be looked upon as morons; who's opinions can easily be dismissed out of hand because they fall for crap like this.

Take this post down. You're doing conservatives no favor leaving this up.

PS: If you want to be a mover/shaker in the world of conservative politics, you might want to get into the 20th century and figure out how Acrobat works. It's only the largest most widely used portable document format on the planet.

How anyone could find this to be intentional is
absolutely beyond me.  I mean, let's all think
seriously for a moment or two here.  The effort,
taxpayer-funded, no less, to sit down and
aseemble such an exacting letter is burdensome.

Let's all just sit down, take a nice deep breath,
and try to shelve the sophmoric tittering.

Voters wouldn't stand for something like this
in their legislature at any level, anyway.  The
simple fact that it is a waste of time, a complete
trashing of any trust and integrity in the politician
acts only as proof that this would be career suicide.

But despite all this, you will still have loonies
aching to try and find something - anything - to
bait their opponents into a war of words.  And
you've all already seen where that leads...

Nice post, thanks you. I'm a diabetic with poor circulation and so my toes almost never warm up.. I ordered these ugg boots hoping they would help and they did the job pretty well. The inside is very plush, my feet even feel close to sweating when the air con is up and the house is warm. The upper is a little tight, I wouldn't recommend these ugg boots for larger people.

Nice place, thank you! I bought a pair of ugg boots as my second pair on reccomendation from an Australian friend.. I honestly didn't know other ugg boot labels were genuine. I was happy with the price and the quality was fine, I compared them with my older uggs, the stitching and suede is pretty much the same if not better. As you've no doubt heard already they are extremely warm, which I was expecting. I sometimes wear mine with top cuff rolled over to reveal the inner fluff, I wasn't sure if could be done by looking at these pictures but it can be done. I'll wear these almost every day and so I'll most likely be back for more come Christmas.
