Oh, Mercy: Jigsaw Takes on Greedy Health Insurance Officials in Saw VI

Ah. Well, if Jigsaw endorses ObamaCare, I guess that settles the issue!

Jigsaw would fare better than Keith Olbermann in a Fight Against Death. And yet still -- he lost too.

Meanwhile, in a little-noticed corner of reality, those "greedy" health care officials are earning a paltry 2.2% profit.

And it's the best reviewed of the recent sequels?  Surprised?

I'll still see it.  I like the Saw movies and from what i've read of the plot it's not obnoxiously political.  Focus still on gore.

5 Okay, that's it Moron Horde.  If Paranormal Activity can be made for $15,000 and turn around and make $62 million, surely we can make a movie about Zombie Reagan (slow natch) coming back for $1,000 and $4 million.

I'll nobly chip in $1.95 and volunteer some screen time as a victim.

Posted by: alexthechick at October 26, 2009 04:29 PM (8WZWv)

6 Hmmm. I've never seen the attraction of the torture porn movies. Maybe this is a subtle double reverse -- if Jigsaw is endorsing it, it must be a really bad idea! Or, I could just be reaching.

Posted by: joncelli at October 26, 2009 04:30 PM (RD7QR)

7 Of course, if they say Jigsaw's "bloodlust" was created by insurance agencies, that's a dumb political ret-con.  Movie now downgraded from "see" to "download."

8 I don't know about 2.2% profit - but I can tell you that last year I paid a total of $1900 ($73 bi-weekly deductions) for my plan through work and had an MRI and Catscan that ran $4200 that blue cross blue shield paid 100%. So, BCBS made exactly NEGATIVE $2,300 dollars from me. I have no complaints and even a little guilt at the need for such an expensive procedure.

19 MRI and Catscan that ran $4200 that blue cross blue shield paid 100%. So, BCBS made exactly NEGATIVE $2,300 dollars from me.

The things are relatively expensive to operate, maintaining a big radioactive machine and all but at some places they're automatic facets of treatment (which works to essentially reduce the cost of imaging technology). Aggregations of radiologists tend to be interesting, sort of like a war room.

Its so simple, and its the thing that makes it work. Money flows from a stable insurance fund to a hospital, that hospital can afford a certain level of care, R&D, expansion. Turn that spigot off and replace with gov't and you kill it.

Speaking of movies...

I watched The Maiden Heist with Chris Walken, Bill Macy, and Morgan Freeman, and Hardwired with Cuba Gooding, Val Kilmer, and Michael Ironside.

The Maiden Heist is billed as a comedy. It's not funny. But it's not terrible, either. It  founders on the line between a cute little feel-good flick and a grave miscalculation by Hollywood. The best thing of the movie is seeing Morgan Freeman act out his usual character. 5/10 stars.

Hardwired, I think, is an indie movie, and it looks like it. I'd say it's as good as the best Steven Seagal straight-to-video movie out there. The best part of the movie is Val Kilmer acting silly; you can tell Val really didn't give a shit about this movie. Oh, and it reminded a lot of that terrible movie with Raoul Julia that was used as fodder in a MST3K episode. So it's got that going for it, which is something, I guess. 5/10 stars.

Actually I had an idea for a comedy/thriller AoSHQ movie.
The story is a real life hobo visits the library and uses the Internet for the first time and low and behold come across AoSHQ. He swears  to hunt down and kill Ace. The entire movie is Ace running from this guy and fighting his hobo buddies, trying to get to a moron meetup. Ace tries to explain it's a gag but the hobo doesn't beilieve Ace because he won't give him any Valu-Rite.
All along Ace is trying to contact the cops, his friends and co-bloggers for help , using text..twitters..email...phone, but everybody thinks it's a gag. Dave in Texas keeps saying "Boomstick!" and telling him what kind of guns and stuff to get but Ace just keeps screaming "It's not legal to buy any of that shit here!" or "I don't have 2 weeks to wait!". Laura keeps telling him not to be late to the meetup and bring some cash for a change. The ONT thread starts tracking him using GPS like Nasa does with Santa. Gabe bitches and moans because Ace won't come to the left coast for a meetup.

In the end Ace meets up with maddogg who gives him a long bow and he kills the hobo king in a climatic hunt-counter hunt sequence in a train yard.

Unfortunately for Ace though, the Hobo King is still out there.....

53 Health care may mean allot, but I am still here because of them damn insurance companies.  I WAS very healthy, until the car accident.  Committed by a lefttard with a crime list longer then your arm.  Assault and battery, public drunkenness, etc.  I am still hear because of them right wing hospitals with Dr's and Nurse's, and ex-army helo-pilots,  and them damn insurance companies.  What did the lefttard pay?  I could not sue him, cause he was lucky enouth to have a job.  He could not get a car, because he could not afford the car insurance  with his driving record.  He was driving an F150 that his construction boss owned.

60 Yes, there would be a sequel, is it makes any money, where Ace, his co-bloggers and other right wing pundits meet the hobo hoard in a full scale battle through Reagan Memorial airport. Think Die Hard meets Airplane.

Charles Johnson does nothing but post what violent, Hobo haters they all are and ban them from using the airport's free wireless internet.

From Box Office Mojo:

Saw VI had by far the most anemic start of its franchise, drawing an estimated $14.8 million on around 4,000 screens at 3,036 sites. The previous low was the first movie, which opened five years ago at a then impressive $18.3 million. The series has been on the wane since the peak of Saw II, but still pulled in over $30 million with each opening weekend, until now. At this point, it's strictly for the fans, and Saw VI's marketing, which simply announced the new movie with no new hooks or even a taste of the story, did no favors in the face of the budding new competition for fickle horror moviegoers from Paranormal Activity.

70 Scene from the red band trailer for "Zombie Reagan", coming soon from AceFilms, LLC.

(1:21am
Salón de Pasos Perdidos, El Capitolio, Havana)

(Fidel Castro frantically scrambles down the hall, limping from a shattered left leg.  Zombie Reagan lumbers behind him.)

Zombie Reagan: FIDEL!

(A single shot rings out, and a bullet fired from a Colt Single Action revolver clips Castro in the right shoulder, sending him sprawling onto the ground.  Zombie John Wayne emerges from the shadows behind a statue of Che Guevara.  Zombie John Wayne saunters over to Castro and points his pistol at his head.)

Zombie John Wayne: Ron, you want me to take care of this Commie f*ck?

(Zombie Reagan approaches, reaches down, and picks up Castro by his collar with his left hand.)

Zombie Reagan: No.  Allow me.

Castro: Nooooooo!!!!!

(Zombie Reagan pulls back his right arm for a haymaker and punches straight through Castro's head via his open, screaming mouth.)

92 Hollywood has been slipping these themes into alot of primetime shows lately.  The best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) example I saw was on Sons of Anarchy on FX. One of the homicidal outlaw bikers crashes his bike, and the ER nurse refuses to treat him because he has the wrong insurance.  As he is carried out by his buddies, he curses the HMOs.

I've supported ObamaCare ever since. I just don't want to live in a world where gun running, drug dealing, mother- raping outlaw bikers can't get quality healthcare.

93 Just how many morons are in the JAX area?  I'm stationed at Mayport.

Moron meetup?

94 Sounds like just three, so far. I look in at Facebook and have seen North Floridians there. Is Mayport still the hotspot for off-duty sailors it was a few years ago?

95 Jigsaw?  You mean the VILLAIN in the Saw movies?  The sociopath who thinks he understands right from wrong and gets to judge his fellow man as brutally as possible?  He's against private health insurers?  Why am I not surprised?

I'm not much of a fan of either MacGyver or Jigsaw but pitting the two against each other in a humorous short seems like something that Robot Chicken should have gotten around to by now.

Of course I'm also not a fan of Robot Chicken.
