Corrected: I put up a different video first. INCITEMarsh told me the video I put up was just a guy lip-syncing, and not the singer at all. So I've put up the original, by "Moosebutter."

I saw Star Wars, when it was just plain Star Wars, in the autumn of 1977 when it was just a terrific, fun film. And it wasn't part four of anything.

The two sequels were...okay. Didn't hate them. Yeah, sure. Tightened it up, though "Empire" shucked some awkward questions into the mix, tossed in some stupidity, oh well...and "Jedi" had Ewoks. And recycled the stuff that worked from the first film because they had no story. Still, I really liked Star Wars (1977).

Then came the "special editions", special in the "Special olympics" sense. And I said nothing, because I had my VHS tapes.

Then came the prequels. When they came for the prequels, I said nothing. When they put in Jar Jar Binks, I said nothing. When they made Anakin Skywalker a pouty teen who JUST missed being a vampire hearthrob (by not being a vampire) I said nothing. Then they made "Revenge of the Sith" and I realized there was no one left for them to come for, because everyone who had half a thought left in their brains had already left long ago.

So I left too. I said goodbye to my childhood and shook its hand and I said, "Thank you for keeping my innocence intact for so many years. I know it must have been hard with all the non-stop marketing and ever-increasing stupidity, but..."

"I know," my childhood said as it lay gasping on the floor. "I know. You shut your eyes, and closed your ears, and you held on. You've been a good friend, and I thank you."

And I never looked at anything Star Wars related ever again...except for the spasmodic scowl that I could never really control.

20 Jar jar is about 100 times less annoying than the ewoks imo. The ewoks ruined the entire Star Wars universe. Every time I see the Sith plotting, I realize it all comes apart because of a tribe of ewoks. That is just bad, bad writing.

As I was watching the report about the woman who got the ticket it occurred to me that it could be very dangerous in an emergency if you don't speak english and the PO only speaks english.
