| USAToday/Gallup Poll Finds Obama's Support Dropping to 50%, 46% Disapproving; Headline Reads: Poll: Hopes buoyed on race relations6 in ten say that race relations will improve in Obama's America, presumably as the races unite in misery and in scorn of President Richard Hussein Nixon. That, to them, is the big headline. As opposed to, say, this: the same poll -- happy race relations! -- shows a seven point net loss for Obama in combined job approval and job disapproval. September's poll had him 54/43. He's lost four in approval and 3 more have moved to the disapprove column. But that's not the only key finding according to USAToday! You'll also learn that Michelle "Pat" Obama has experienced a "surge" in personal approval (popularity), and is even more popular now than her very popular husband!A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken in the past week shows a surge in positive views of the first lady over the past year even as her husband's ratings have eroded. As the anniversary of the presidential election approaches, Michelle Obama is viewed more favorably than her husband, and her standing is 19 percentage points higher than Vice President Biden's. "She has conducted herself as an educated, sensitive, down-to-earth woman — not a black woman, a woman — like when she does the gardening (to encourage healthful eating) and taking care of the family," including daughters Malia and Sasha, says Rosemarie Tate, 55, of West Hartford, Conn. "Those are values that everybody shares," says the registered dietician, who was among those called in the survey.Let's compare the liberal media's reaction to this poll with their reaction to the WaPo/ABCNews poll claiming that only 20% of adults identify themselves as Republican. Despite the cheesiness of that number, ABCNews' polling director put up a piece defending the result, and saying it was congruent with other liberal-media polls and past ABC poll findings. (He kept ignoring the question of whether it was congruent with Zogby, Gallup, or Rasmussen -- despite the fact he kept quoting Newt Gingrinch pointing out the divergence from those particular polls.) So, ABCNews obviously buys that number. Now... this number? It's pretty plain that USAToday does not stand behind it, or doesn't wish to push it out there. They do acknowledge Obama's approval has slipped to 50% in the race relations article, but it's mentioned as an afterthought. They are all but ignoring that finding as unreliable, and instead looking to some really minor findings about hopes that Obama will improve race relations. Which is, by the way, old news: Every poll claims this. The six in ten figure is hardly remarkable; indeed, near the beginning of Obama's tenure, the figure was higher. There has been some recalibration of the euphoric expectations expressed in a USA TODAY survey taken the day after the election, on Nov. 5, 2008. Then, 28% predicted race relations would get "a lot" better, compared with 15% now. Forty-two percent said they would be "a little" better, compared with 46% now. A year ago, a record 67% said race relations one day would no longer be an issue in the United States. Now that has dropped to 56%, a tick higher than in Gallup polls taken before Obama seemed poised to win the Democratic nomination. So, um... to the extent you find the race relation question big news, isn't that your headline? So instead of pushing real poll news they push old poll news, and don't even headline the fact that even on the race relations question, Obama's lost ground, not gained it. Curious, isn't it, which polls news agencies are willing to throw under the bus, and which they'll defend to the death. Funny that it always seems to be the polls that make liberals' hearts go all aflutter that are championed, and the ones they consider real downers that get barely a mention. Thanks to AHFF Geoff. The polling points on Michelle are silly, unless she's the one crafting policy. As I recall, Laura Bush's popularity was higher than Dubya's, but in the end who really cares? If Michelle is more "popular," it's largely due to the administration taking a major effort to mostly put her on the sidelines so she doesn't let her left-wing radicalism slip out. It hasn't always worked (see her healthcare promotions), but for the most part coverage of her has been the typical fluff you see on all First Ladies. I think I can give a very scientific explanation as to why Michelle is more popular than Barrack. Michelle is not on t.v. every single day letting us know that he is "going to be clear". I suspect if we exposed Michelle to the extent we exposed Barrack, 50% of the country would not like her very much. The other half would loath her. Not included in the USA Today write up, this quote: "Screw her. And her worthless husband too" said Pappy Mallamutt, who was among one of the people called for the survey. "What the hell has she done beside fly around on date night on my dime. Times are hard. Maybe her and her husband should stay in every once in awhile and rent a movie like the rest of us. Well maybe people say they expect race relations to improve in the vain hope that SOMETHING good will come of this train wreck. Problem is that they won't. It was obvious during the campaign that the race baiting by both Obama and his followers was going to make things worse. Just recally Obama's "typical white person comment." Obama may not be personally virulently racist, but he does clearly have racist issues. Beck took a lot of flack for calling him racist, but it is a fact that any white person referring to a "typical black" would be pilloried as a racist, and probably fairly so. Obama's presidency is a disaster in EVERY way including race relations. Posted by: doug at October 23, 2009 04:57 PM (Sa/HV) 24

Funny that it always seems to be the polls that make liberals' hearts go all aflutter that are championed, and the ones they consider real downers that get barely a mention. Not surprising. "The One" has nothing but popularity going for him. Ask someone why they voted for "The One". You get 1 of 2 answers. 1) He wasn't George W. Bush and 2) He was going to change things. When you press them on change things, the answers start to get real vague and incoherent. And how much of his campaign was nothing more than a cult of personality, a fad? People gravitated to Obama because he was the "cool" thing. 15% of his support came from the Peggy Noonan/David Brooks crowd - I like Obama because he is hip and, therefore, I am hip. If the polls show him in the 40s does he have this going for him - no. So the media, who whored itself out for him in the election, has no choice but to keep f#*!ing that chicken. Otherwise, they are left with the painful choice of admitting they were wrong. And how can the deciders be wrong? As much as we would like to think this is going to turn around quickly, it isn't. We have to keep pounding away, and poudning away and pounding away. Below 50 is the first goal. Then its 45. Then 40. Then, something positive may start to happen with the American electorate. It would also help, Republicans, if you could learn to better communicate your message. But, I leave that rant for another day.

Didn't M'chelle's mother want to keep them in Chicago to be sure they were taken care of and the compromise was for her to move into the white house? And for the Moronettes: What is with that big belt M'chelle keeps wearing around her ribs? I know we are not supposed to compare her to a Klingon but if she keeps dressing like one.... If you watch "What not to Wear" you will hear Stacy and Clinton always talking about drawing attention to the smallest part of your body, and then having the clothing fall away from the largest part. I think Michelle is trying to create the illusion of a small waist (that's why it's up at her ribcage) because everything on that woman is large. I also think she's packed on the lb.'s since she's been in the White House. Unfortunately, the wide belt doesn't draw any emphasis away from the large scowl that's perpetually on her puss. 42 I told my mom when she asked that I thought the belt was an effort to have the material fall from higher in order to drap over her giant butt. However, she should try to match the tone of the outfit, not wear a patent leather black shiny studded belt with light green. It looks weird. Couldn't she just wear some sort of headgear that has giant arrows pointing toward her "toned" arms? My husband says Rahm is married with children. I don't believe it. From Hotair: David “Mudcat” Saunders, who gained political fame helping Democrat Mark Warner reach out to rural voters during Warner’s successful 2001 gubernatorial bid, told CNN Friday that trying to blame Deeds is “bulls**t” when Democrats around the country are “just tired of politics.” “The Democrats right now are a real bruised brand right now where I am,” said Saunders, who lives near Roanoke. “There was so much energy put into last year’s race, everybody’s just burned out. You can’t [get] anybody fired up.” … “It’s a goddamn shame when our center of government, the White House, won’t talk on the record. I discount all of it,” Saunders said of the Post article. “It’s a lack of courage. And it goes against transparency that Obama told us last year was going to come out of the White House. Anybody who makes anonymous quotes out of the White House should be fired.” Posted by: runningrn at October 23, 2009 05:21 PM (IM/Ge) 49

A man down in Chicago heard Michelle "Pat" on the Net mention the fact that our two youngsters would like to have a dog. And, believe it or not, the day before we left on this campaign trip working vacation we got a message from Union Station in Baltimore saying they had a package for us. We went down to get it. You know what it was? It was a little Portuguese Water Dog in a crate that he'd sent all the way from Chicago along with the usual brown paper envelopes. Black and white. And our little girl—Sasha, the 8-year-old—named it Bo after I told her to and if she didn't, I'd kill it in front of her. And you know, the kids, like all kids, love the dog and I just want to say this right now, that regardless of what Ace says about it, we're gonna keep it.

The Va news said that Deeds is not turning out the "party base" which means the black voters are just not interested in him. Later I read that they got 20% black vote for Obama and only expect 16%. I don't know if they mean 20% of the total vote or 20% of the black vote. I guess it's 20% of the total since every black owned car has an obama sticker and I assume they voted for him? Speaking of polls I was having lunch with the wife today and CNN was on the TV in the bar. One scrolls announced that the "GOP's Favorable Lowest in 10 Years! 1!11! Eleventy!" I may have made part of that headline up. I wasn't surprised, given the drift away from conservativism that the party leaders and elite have been pushing. See NY 23 for a prime example. Anyway, I decided to check it out when I finally got home. Interestingly enough, the the 36% that viewed the GOP in a favorable light was matched in 2007. Math may be hard, but 2 years isn't a decade last time I checked. Additionally, they failed to note exept in the article that congressional disapproval is at 69%. Finally, they fail to mention at all that Democratic leadership in congress limps in at a 38% approval. It's buried in the pdf file. Oh, and Charlie Gibson and his family must have been polled because 1% of the respondents had never heard of the Republican party. Link here for those that have to take a shower anyway.

The MSM did a great job of boosterism for Clinton, but he actually had some good numbers to back him up. Sure, Clinton's administration cooked lots of books, but I remember back in 1996 when gas was around $1.20/gal and ciggies were about $1.20/pack. Those kind of numbers buy you lots of good will no matter what else you're doing. Today, however, we have another Jimmy Carter. The MSM couldn't prop up Jimmy forever (not like they didn't try) and he eventually crashed and burned because he could never turn out good numbers. I think the same thing kind of thing is in Barry's future. Starting extra early this time. Posted by: Tinian at October 23, 2009 06:07 PM (7+pP9) 122

#121 You know what, for as much as I hate Clinton he was a leader. Why do I say that?
A good leader know how to work with people to get stuff done (Welfare, Rep Congress, etc) A good leader knows how to shift course when things aren't going well (last 6 years of presidency) A good leader knows who to trust with advice (See last 6 years) A good leader knows how to win over enemies and the public (Approval polls) I didn't like him at all, but he led which is why people followed. When both Bush's numbers were high they were leaders (when they sat back, they dropped). Reagan, leader. Carter (follower), Obama (high numbers when he looked like he would lead us out of the problems, low numbers now that he lets the events control him instead of the other way around). Perot(leader) - Next President, Perot(weak excuse about daughter's wedding) - Loser. There is a lesson here. You lead, you win. You follow, you lose. Think back to all the recent elections and you will see a perfect correlation. Just some random thoughts I had to get out. Posted by: Just Another Poster at October 23, 2009 06:17 PM (NgoAe) 132

Funny that it always seems to be the polls that make liberals' hearts go all aflutter that are championed It was funny in 2004, when Newsweek released its weekly poll results a day before everyone else. They showed Bush with a big lead. Anyone with a casual familiarity with the science of polls could tell it was worthless after a glance — but it was Newsweek, reputed to be a major news outlet, and their polls were the freshest data out there for one day out of every week, so it got played up big-time. Then one week, it was a tie (again with worthless results) but the "story" was how Bush lost his lead and how Kerry had momentum. People (that is, Kerry supporters whom I'd had face-to-face contact) were jazzed. And when I tried to tell them that the Newsweek polls were garbage, they wouldn't hear it. Too bad they tore up their Canadian immigration papers. . . . (J-schools train journalists to write stories, by the way -- not facts.) I read the Demographics of the USA today poll in the article about Michelle beating Barry. They polled 1,500 adults, 900 were white, 434 were black and the rest other. 30% of the poll were blacks where Obama enjoys over 90%. Only 12% of Americas population are black. Willow, I wasn’t thinking of that Michael Kors dress, which was attractive, it was simple and tasteful, clean lines. There was another outfit, more casual, I saw on that Dallas newspaper link of “Michelle Obama Lady of Fashion” or whatever the heck it was called.
When she wears nice, simple clothing she looks good. The white shirts with big belts, or the dresses that have things sticking to them (big bows at waist, wads of Kleenex) do not look good on her.
I’ve said this umpteen times before when we’ve trashed her outfits, I would be less critical of them if I didn’t have to keep seeing headlines about how fashionable she is and what a role model she is, and what a style icon, etc. It is just so fake and stupid and it irritates me into severe mock mode.

RayGun, you are right. Us "typical white" people are not enlightened by the likes of Reverend Wright, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. BTW, it was the GOP that got the Civil Rights Act passed. Oh, and Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican. The 'rats have done a bang up job in any event. That's why I'm taking my family to Detroit and Chicago for holiday. Obama and his ilk have done a great job with race relations there. Now that's how to organize communities.

Not too hard to guess Rosemarie Tate's political sympathies: "Rosemarie Tate, who has worked for the past 20 years as a dietitian in the State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, said the state should impose additional taxes on millionaires and large corporations to raise money and avoid layoffs" (NYT: 12/8/2002) "Workers at a state psychiatric clinic marked the first day of their contract negotiations Tuesday by protesting what they say is an unsafe state practice of forced overtime. "It's too much, we have no personal lives," said Rosemarie Tate, a Cedarcrest Hospital worker who picketed in the rain against mandatory overtime that she and others said must cease." (Hartford Courant: 10/20/2004) So: save my job, but don't make me work too hard once you've saved it. And of course she has a completely objective assessment of our President: "Rosemarie Tate, 55, of West Hartford, Conn., a registered dietician who is an African American of West Indian descent: "I think most black people are glad to see that not just a black man but a very qualified, caring, charismatic person has been elected, who seems to be able to listen to all sides and come up with ideas to solve the nation's problems."" I don't know how she keeps getting in the news, but the media would have been hard-pressed to find anybody more in the tank than she is. Posted by: geoff at October 23, 2009 06:59 PM (knpfm) 180

The upside to the press cooking the numbers is that when it gets past the point of no return they will all quit trying to prop him up at once and the bottom will fall out. I have to believe that support for this POS-POTUS is no where near what they are saying even now. It is not possible for that many people to be that stupid outside of the media and academia where they are paid to believe that sort of thing.

Two observations:
1. I still don't understand how in the hell Obama's overall approval rating isn't more like 35-40% at best, at this point. In anybody's poll. 2. Race relations have got to be like number 10 (or lower) on the Top 20 list of things that are totally hosed up in this country and in need of a fix. And probably 75% of those twenty screwed up items can be either directly or indirectly attributed to our Democrat-led legislature and this current President. Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that, when Obama came, his shadow at the least might overshadow any of them and they might be delivered from their infirmities. 16 And there came also together to Washington a multitude out of the neighbouring cities, bringing sick persons and such as were troubled with conservative unclean spirits: who were all healed. President Obama has saved or created eight hundred and fifty million new jobs since we began typing this comment. Saying his name makes the people with white faces on the left side and black faces on the right side love the people with the black side on the left and the white side on the right. Knowing he exists makes college students want to major in Women's Studies and go on to work for Greenpeace. The sound of his voice makes every statue of a dead white conservative topple.

316 She is huge and therefore should be wearing clean simple lines. She can jazz up the color but should not wear things like bows, wads, big belts, and big prints. The current style of long sweater as long as it is not too bulky would be fine. Sheath dresses--she can afford to have them tailored for more ass room--would look best and jewelry to draw up the eye. It is a problem to decide where to draw the eye--away from her butt or away from her face. Perhaps that is the point of the belt since it does draw the eye away from those two ugly spots.

I've seen her look nice in one outfit... might be the same black one the other gals liked. But that was from the waist up and her hair was styled correctly (with bangs that helped cover her brows and arranged to minimize her jaw). I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but the biggest difference between these two poll questions is the time line. One question is asking, "How do you feel about Obama now?", the other question is basically, "Do you believe that there is a chance Obama COULD improve race relations?"
The main problem here is the same as it is everywhere regarding BHO. His promises and the follow-through, or lack thereof. They could also ask, "Do you believe that there is a chance that pigs might fly under the current administration?" Heck, even I would have to say "YES" to that one. ...and in other news... Only 20% of Americans will admit out loud that they are republican..... That number doesn't need to get any lower. That's just pitiful as it is..
I'd love to hear how many of those are republican but don't want to say so. That's the number I'd like to hear. I never thought Obama would improve race relations. I had always predicted that race relations would suffer under a black president. And that;'s what that poll means. It means that now, Limbaugh, Beck and the rest of the bottom feeders that run your side of the political spectrum have cranked up the irrational "white resentment" that knuckle-dragging people can't get enough of. What's wrong with race in America? The right-wing. That's all. Not Obama. Not anyone else. Just you guys and your pandering to the stupidest of stupid. What's wrong with America? YOU. That's all... Right on cue - another troll. Well, Clayton, sorry to burst your bubble, but you have a few facts wrong. First, there are alot more Republicans than 20%. The particular poll you cling to with your feeble argument was an outlier. Its a technical term, go look it up. Second, outside of the inaccurate 20% number, no real facts. Just base conclusion. It is all Rush fault, Beck's fault, ect. ect. Emotion jibber jabber with no real coherent logical theme. Basically, you argument is "Obama is great and you conservatives suck." So, here are some facts for you to dwell on: If we passed the stimulus, we were tolkd by Obama and Biden that unemployment was supposed to top out at 8%. It is at 9.9. Christina Romer, the chief economist for the Obama team, testified before a house committee today that the stimulus has done all its going to do for unemployment. So, no future help there. Please explain to me how 9.9 percent unemployment is Rush fault, or Beck's fault or a Republicans fault. I'll wait, it will probably be awhile. It isn't ture, you know it, I know it and anyone with a brain knows it. But, tell you what, I am a sporting guy. Lets test your little thesis. If only 20% of the population are Republicans, then lets take a look at a state Barack Obama won in 2008 and see if it holds true there. Because, if only 20% are Republicans, there is no way a Republican could win in that sate. So, 100 bucks on the Virginia governor's race. Wann put your money where you big ass mouth is. Nevermind the stimulus, Mutt. What happened to the economy in the first place after 8 years of your savior George W. Bush? And it turns out that there are enough gay-hating inbreds and rednecks to turn a blind eye while your party let wall street rob us blind. Now - back to your little percentage point that you cling to. Oh Clayton, you are funny. Son, you have no concept of logic, so here, I am going to help you: What happened to the economy in the first place after 8 years of your savior George W. Bush? Dow hit 14,000. And I would take the unemployment rates under Bush to what we have now. Point to Mallamutt. We got into this mess by too many "family values" and homo-hating stooges voting for your de-regulation-happy party. Never talked about any of these things, so who is twisting now. And deregulation. Lets talk about the deregulation of Fannie and Freddie, which was the proximate cause of the sub-prime market meltdown. You know who lead the charge to deregulate Fannie and Freddie - Democrats. Can you say Chris Dodd. Point, Mallamutt. Now - back to your little percentage point that you cling to. (A single percentage point was never so loved by such a moron!) More like 2. And since Obama signed the stimulus, we have shed 2.7 million jobs. I suspect to those 2.7 million freshly laid off people, that percentage point as you so dismissively refer to it matters alot. Plus, according to Obama (you know, the really smart guy) that was not supposed to happen. So, he was wrong about the stimulus. Point, Mallamutt. And you can have something else to jerk off to. And that is game, set Mallamutt. Thanks for playing Clayton - Don Pardo, do we have something Clayton take home just for playing?

here is what to remember about any poll about obama about 13% are black so a rock bottom percent from this is 13% with 99.9% black approval. then the mexican percentage is about 12% with a approval of a minimum 60% for a total of 7% which gives an approval of 20% no matter what obama does. unemployment could go to 50% and he starts with 20% approval. so if he has 50% approval he is only getting 30% approval from people who can be persuaded one way or another.
