| Thugocracy...Obama White House Trys To Exlude Fox News From Pay Czar InterviewsWhile Obama is busy feeding his lap dogs their talking points, his press operation is trying to exclude a news organization that isn't drinking the Kool Aid. I can't find anything online yet (video now below the fold) but Fox is reporting on Special Report that the White House wanted to exclude Fox from the 5 member White House Pool who were going to be given access to Kenneth Feinberg. The White House Pool, of which Fox has been a member since 1997, is a consortium of the five networks which fund its operations. After the White House attempted to exclude Fox, the Washington bureau chiefs of the 5 networks met and announced none of them would participate if Fox were excluded. It's amazing we are in the position we are. We have a President who is more interested in talking to murders around the world but is affraid to face a reporter who isn't enthralled with the crease of his pants. Wonderful. Below the fold is the FNC report.Comments1

I wouldn't call it growing balls. The other 4 networks pulled Obama to the side and explained things to him.
"Obama, you're new to the national scene here and there are still a few things you have to learn. This doesn't work like Chicago. We at least have to pretend to be unbiased, otherwise the gig is up. If you exclude Fox, then everyone will catch onto the game. I say this knowing full well that you know we love to get down on our hands and knees for you. Lets just be a little more discrete about it next time, OK?" Posted by: Just Another Poster at October 22, 2009 07:17 PM (NgoAe) 16

I still believe that people err when they believe that Obama and team are merely incompetent. IMO they are malicious in their radical intent and we don't know the limits, or even if there are limits, to their maliciousness and their radical intent. Each of these things that Obama does is a way to expand the envelope. His stated goal is "to create a better world". He hasn't explained what his view of a better world is but I believe it's already been tried already. And just like where it has been tried before and using emerging socialist regimes as an example, the leader of the world remaking efforts needs a lot of power. This was a probe. It didn't work and they pulled back. But they'll keep probing. Posted by: Hussein the Plumber at October 22, 2009 07:21 PM (r1h5M) 21

I agree. That they took a stand may indicate that they are seeing things that even they don't like. Gibbs can't be winning friends with his horrible snarkiness and arrogance at the press briefings. Plus maybe these bureau chiefs are starting to get questions from their neighbors, people at the PTA, guys at the golf course, etc. Although I am no fan of the state run media, I think they deserve credit when they do something right. Just like we need to praise Tapper when he asks Gibbs a serious question. I used to think that these people shoudl be shunned. Now I think we need to be nice to them when they do a good thing, like this or like Tapper. Let them know we know how hard it is to stand up for what's right, and we appreciate it. As my grandmother often said, you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. If we keep praising them (when we can) and are nice to them. maybe we can turn some to our side. I am positive we are nicer and more charming than the Kos people. Posted by: Miss Marple at October 22, 2009 07:21 PM (UQado) 22

Speaking of the "yanks"... Remember the Star Trek episode The Omega Glory? It was about the Enterprise finding the USS Exeter in orbit above a planet, with no crew aboard, just a bunch of piles of dust. The dust turns out to be the remains of the crew. So Kirk, Bones, and Spock beam down to the planet to prevent whatever killed the Exeter crew from killing them. On the planet they find a crazy Capt Ron Tracy and he's helping the "Coms" kill the "Yangs." The Yangs are supposed to be like the Americans fighting for their freedom and independence, and the Coms are the stinkin' commies. Why am I bringing this up? I don't know. Well said, Hussein. May I call you Hussein The Plumber Savant? Posted by: runningrn at October 22, 2009 08:18 PM (4R2pO) 118

Sorry for the length but for those not on Facebook:
The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now. The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law. Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing." The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas. And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine. Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty. Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket. Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual. I'm predisposed to distrust the MSM so I have a different reason for the four that remained not to go on without Fox: money. Today each pool member pays for 20% of pool costs. If Fox drops out of participation why would they pay? So the four remaining picks up 25% - a 25% increase over what they had been paying. As their revenue is dropping.
Now they could pick up a new 5th, but revenues are tight everywhere, outside of Fox, and for them it would be picking up a new cost - 20% of the total pool costs. Plus there's the pissing off Fox viewers factor. JMO. Posted by: East Bay Jay at October 22, 2009 08:45 PM (oNeKI) 169

look at the press releases for appointments. He has had to rescind at least two appointments. I remember reading about one, a female attorney who withdrew her name saying it was taking entirely too long to vet her and she had decided to go down a different career path. Maybe her guardian angel was watching over her and her career. Posted by: curious at October 23, 2009 12:39 AM (p302b) 202
Kudos to the networks. Wonder if they are suddenly waking up to the reality that they created and they might not like what they see in the mirror once the smoke clears.

I wonder if those silly egomaniacs even know what they have done? Hannity actually had an interesting program absolutely destroying Obamacare. Now Greta, who has a centrist/liberal audience has clearly declared war. Is anyone watching another network? Why? To see them complain that they are irrelevant?

It isn't that the Bureau chiefs stood up for Freedom of the Press that shocks me, it's that they had to stand up at all that does. Another precedent that should have NEVER happened in the first place. Posted by: elclynn at October 23, 2009 07:24 AM (WKNKk) 205
CNN shocked me a little. Cooper asked some questions about Nixonian attitudes of the WH. Carville stuttered and stammerd and couldn't really defend it. Even stated the Dems are going to lose seats in 2010. He seemed to have lost a lot of bluster. I went to bed feeling a lot more hopeful.

It will be interesting to see if this little rebuke doesn't tone down the administration's rhetoric about FNC. When they realize that their lapdogs didn't go along with them, maybe they will understand that this is a fight they can never win.
