You Can't Make This Up. Well Maybe You Can. No, I Don't Think So

Behold part of the Obama's art collection in the White House.

anobama.jpg

But the collection is also not without humor. Another contemporary work chosen by the Obamas is a word painting by the California artist Ed Ruscha. Called “I Think I’ll ... ” it deals with the subject of indecision.

I don't know it this shows an absolute lack of self awareness or an incredible sense of who he is.

General McChrystal emails to ask, "So, how does this painting end? Or does it?"

*Yeah, I uploaded the wrong file at first and no it wasn't the mythical girl pr0n we've all heard so much about here.

From Rudy Giuliani:

On the other hand, you have a resume from a gifted man with an Ivy League education. He worked as a community organizer. What? He worked — I said — I said, OK, OK, maybe this is the first problem on the resume.

He worked as a community organizer. He immersed himself in Chicago machine politics.

Then he ran for — then he ran for the state legislature and he got elected. And nearly 130 times, he couldn’t make a decision. He couldn’t figure out whether to vote “yes” or “no.” It was too tough.

He voted — he voted “present.”

I didn’t know about this vote “present” when I was mayor of New York City. Sarah Palin didn’t have this vote “present” when she was mayor or governor. You don’t get “present.” It doesn’t work in an executive job. For president of the United States, it’s not good enough to be present.

You have to make a decision.

A few years later — a few years later, he ran for the U.S. Senate. He spent most of his time as a celebrity senator: no leadership, no legislation to really speak of.

His rise is remarkable in its own right. It’s the kind of thing that can happen only in America.

But he’s never — he’s never run a city. He’s never run a state. He’s never run a business. He’s never run a military unit. He’s never had to lead people in crisis.

He is the least experienced candidate for president of the United States in at least the last 100 years.

Not a personal attack, a statement of fact. Barack Obama has never led anything, nothing, nada.

Now in my opinion Degas was a damned fine artist, both as a painter and a sculptor, but the piece Obama has (which is fittingly entitled "the bow," as in act of supplication) is not very good.

76 Gibbs just said that Obama has decided to wait to change his mind, and leave things as they are in Afghanistan. THAT is the worst choice, given that McChrystal reported that to achieve Obama's asserted goal, more troops are needed now. Without more troops, those there are at greater risk than they should be, given that there are more troops available and ready to go.

So either win or get out. But don't stick around to take losses for no reason other than you can't make up your mind how to do anything besides sit on your thumb.

"Them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me. WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is defending his relentless campaign for a health care bill before Congress's August recess, saying "the default in Washington is inaction and inertia." The Republican Party chairman assailed it as an "excessive push."

The fault lines in the debate emerging as Topic A in the capital remained intact Tuesday as Obama defended the deadline, saying the American people want the overhaul done quickly, and GOP Chairman Michael Steele demanded: "Take your time!"

"How refreshing to have a President who isn't sure he's right about everything and is willing to consult others for their opinions rather than being an arrogant 'Decider.'"

Dum-Dum, Barack Obama is the president. Making decisions is his job. Every president must consult with advisors - that the point of the Cabinet, after all - but ultimately he's the one who has to decide.

Now, you may be saying that by forestalling a decision, the president is simply trying to gather all the information and understand the issues before he acts. That's a reasonable thing to do, though in Obama's case it's magnified by the fact that he is inexperienced and, frankly, ignorant of nearly every aspect of governance.

However, forestalling a decision may lessen the chances that the right decision will be made, because the world isn't just going to stop and wait for you to get your s*** together. That's particularly true in military situations, where we have an enemy that is activing trying to defeat us. The longer one waits, the worse the situation becomes, and the harder it will be to find a solution.

The situation in Afghanistan is, by many reports, in a crisis. Something must be done. President Obama's picked commander, General McChrystal, is an COIN specialist, and therefore has asked for the resources to implement the strategy that he believes will lead us to victory. President Obama is delaying his decision as to whether to implement the strategy that he himself selected last spring when he picked McChrystal! And with each passing day, the enemy becomes stronger, and victory harder to achieve.

This stalling is not just thoughtful reflection: it is moral weakness. President Barack Obama is a vain, ignorant, weak man: as Tsar Alexander I said of King Louis XVIII: "He inspires neither confidence in his friends, nor fear in his enemies." That is our Commander in Chief: an individual who, morally, is not worth one of Stanley McChrystal's stools.

Thanks, 52. Thanks a ton. Assholes.

212 Part of Obama's elegance lies in his ability to form a gorgeous mosaic not just by choosing among the thoughts of different people, but by choosing among the thoughts of the same person. While you may disagree with most of what they say, Rev. Wright and Sean Penn are human and hold at least some positions that we all share. Also, Obama's ability to distance himself from Wright despite the long membership in his church shows extraordinary strength and the ability not to be stuck in the past no matter how longer the past is.

“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.” ~Thomas Jefferson

Which is exactly why the founding fathers constructed a Republic.

Actually the written Constitution was supposed to protect the people and the States from the “tyranny of the majority”.  When the Supreme Court turned into a political organ in 1801 that was nullified.

We no longer have a Republic, nor a Democracy, nor even a “Representative Democracy”. We have an oligarchy of a few powerful liberals in congress and on the courts, who except for a few short years during the Gingrich era have virtually ruled the country.

We are about to become a communist dictatorship.

It was gallant of the president to say to the Olympic committee that Michelle is "a pretty big selling point for the city." Gallant, but obviously untrue. And -- this is where we pass from the merely silly to the ominous -- suppose the president was being not gallant but sincere. Perhaps the premise of the otherwise inexplicable trip to Denmark was that there is no difficulty, foreign or domestic, that cannot be melted by the sunshine of the Obama persona. But in the contest between the world and any president's charm, bet on the world.

242 Egad, there's almost no sport in it.

Yes, decisiveness can be arrogance.

You argue that decisiveness can be evidence of bad character.  However, that is only true in specific fact situations.  The inverse is always false.  Indecisiveness is never evidence of good character.  Would you choose the leader who can never have good character over the leader that may have bad character?  Would you like some more time to decide?

Democracy is about consensus.

This is a misuse of the term consensus.  Consensus implies agreement among the totality of a group, while democracy only requires majoritarian rule.  However this is moot because we don't live in a democracy.  We live in a federal republic.

Plunging ahead without taking the time to reflect on diverse viewpoints out of the certainty of one's own correctness is anti-democratic.

Again, democracy is rule by the majority, and democracy embodies the idea that the majority discard the views of opponents to enact the best interest of the majority.  Plunging ahead without taking time to reflect on diverse viewpoints (yay for progressive jingoism) is pretty much the essence of democracy, which is why the constitution empowers a federal republic and enshrines individual rights as protective countermeasures to the steamroller tendencies of democracy. Furthermore, you are conflating your misconceptions of democracy with the idea that democratically elected representatives are beholden to the people.  The two concepts are non-intersecting and the second one is false.  Representatives are not beholden to the people.  They are constrained by the laws of the land and may be pressured into certain decisions by the desire to be re-elected, but they owe the people nothing, because we can always kick the bums out if we don't like what they do.  You're 0 for 2 in this section.  Not doing so hot.

That is why Obama has modeled his cabinet on the "Team of Rivals" envisioned by Lincoln, who humbly said "my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side."

As a rhetorical punt, this is ineffective.  Not only does the quote relate in no way to the topic at hand, but how does the way the Obama filled his cabinet show his decisive nature?  Congratulations, he hired people to fill vacancies in his staff.  Perhaps we should also give him an attaboy for wiping his ass and not dithering about whether he'd like to feel shit sliding between his cheeks for the rest of the day.

He also took four months to choose a dog, left almost the entirety of treasury unfilled for up to six months after he took office while in the midst of "the biggest economic crisis EVAH", has been unwilling to either condemn or endorse Holder's decision to prosecute CIA interrogators, and has yet to commit to a strategy on that war of necessity that it was essential that we win, but is not now so necessary that we win.

Really, a better effort  next time would be more fun.

I don't think American liberal Jews (but I repeat myself) give flying fuck about Israel.

As someone who used to be a jew, i didn't convert, i am just lazy, don't go to the synagogue and not very religious, i can say that reform jews are a weird bunch.

Many of the older ones are direhard liberal democrats, with an emphasis on Democrats. They are party loyalists, they just think republicans are stupid. Most of them think of Pat Buchanon when they think of republicans.

Also there is a growing generational gap, with the baby boomers and older being die hard israel defenders. They are the people who back ANYTHING israel does to defend itself. If israel had to eat palestinian babies to defend itself they would be for it. I would try to ask them why they can't apply that thinking to the USA. Trust me, it is a waste of time, you don't get anywhere. These are people that are willing to quote Noam Chomsky's opinions on america, while ignoring Chomsky's opinions on Israel, with a straight face. This really isn't much of a suprise because reform judaism kinda picks part of the Tanach to follow and just completely disregard other parts.

What this generation doesn't realize is that the younger generation is applying their parents concept of America to Israel. So many of the younger generations are as anti israel as they are america.  You would hope they would see their parents pro israel anti america hyposcrisy and become pro israel pro america, however the door swung the other way and now that are both anti america and anti israel.  And i am not talking about rational disagreements with israeli or american policy, i am talking about the irrational kind of hatred.

Norman Podoritz(spelling) had an article in the WSJ a few weeks ago where he made a great point. It was that of all the jewish sects, most agree that the Orthadox follow the Tanach(Old Test.) almost word for word. So if Judaism were naturally a liberal(in the american political sense) religion, then the Orthodox would be Ultra-liberals, however they are by far the most conservative(in the american political sense) of all jewish sects.   They are the people who follow the socially conservative rules of the bible which are shunned by reform and conservative(name of group, not politcally related) Jews. Instead the Orthodox follow the rules that abortion is only acceptable in two cases, incest or health of the mother. And suicide is only acceptable if you are being forced to convert.

290 I'm so sick of graphic art being passed off as art. This piece of crap is nothing more than an album cover. Or the cover of an inflight magazine. Or a Kleenex box.

My poor aunt, who spent years teaching fine arts at a Hoosier university, was awash in professors who taught this kind of vacuous drivel as "artistic expression" at the expense of artisanship. In her last years, her "art" students kept badgering her to be able to use Photoshop for projects. Art is dead.
