Variety: Letterman Admits Blackmail Plot Against Him Over Sex With Staffer
It Gets Better: Blackmailer a Producer for CBS News Show "48 Hours"

...a show started, I think, by Hard News Dan Rather.

He was, as you can imagine, living with one of Letterman's previous staff-bangs, so she told him the tale and so on.

The Leftwing Media finally gets a scoop and instead of reporting it they turn it to personal advantage. Who could have seen that coming.

Thanks to the Warden for that update.

Sorry to bump Maet's always-cool ONT, but if I don't advance the post, no one's going to see there's a juicy update.

From this blog, with a full recap, and review of the odd performance.

...

Hmmm. No wonder this sad unfunny clown is so bitter.

In an uncharacteristically personal revelation for David Letterman, the host took to his "Late Show" stage Thursday to admit that he was the victim of an extortion attempt -- and acknowledge that he has had sexual relations with more than one staff member.

...

The individual threatened to go public with the allegations unless Letterman paid him $2 million.

Letterman told his audience on Thursday that he contacted the Manhattan District Attorney's Special Prosecution Bureau. That led to a sting operation, in which Letterman met with the individual and handed the person a fake $2 million check. That person was arrested on Thursday.

"This morning, I did something I've never done in my life," Letterman said on Thursday's edition of CBS' "Late Show." "I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury."

As part of the testimony, Letterman admitted that he had engaged in sexual relationships with staff members.

"My response to that is, yes I have. Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would," Letterman said. "I feel like I need to protect these people -- I need to certainly protect my family."

Eh. Blackmailers suck.

On the other hand, so does Letterman.

3 I've started to tune into Lettermen a little more lately. Not because he is funny, or does a good interview. It is more like watching a train wreck. Just waiting for the day he finally says "I've been doing this now for so long merely because I am bitter they never gave me the Tonight Show. I am never gonna get it, so I quit, because I really do not like to work this hard.".

I have no sympathy for a nasty one-note dick like Letterman in any circumstance short of a gang rape by the Aryan Brotherhood. He's an asshole who uses his show to belittle and demean those he doesn't like, which is anyone who disagrees with him politically. He's not half as smart as he thinks he is and not a quarter as funny.

Okay, so in the past month we've had a drunk who killed a girl (Kennedy), a pedophile who raped a girl (Polanski), a hippy hero who had sex with his own daughter (Phillips), and a talk show liberal who had numerous affairs while in a long term relationship (Letterman) all, not only defended by the left, but lauded and made the victim. And the "tea baggers" are the ones who are fucked up?

Mark Foley was absolutley slaughtered for text messages and voicemails. Nothing actually happened. Larry Craig was destroyed for being a toe-tapping pervert. But, again, nothing happened. But, kill a girl, rape a 13 year old, have sex with your dad, or bang numerous young female employees, and you'll be defended. Better yet, you'll be lionized and examples to the rest of us.

Fuck the left.

How many staff people did he do? How many were women and how many were men?  Did the staff have sex with him to keep their jobs?  Did he pay them extra ? if so, how much? Did he ware a bag on his head? any pictures, movies? is he still doing the staff ? How many abortions were had? Did he have an open marriage. Did his wife do the staff as well? Is the staff being tested for STDs.  I think a Viagra commercial  will come from this. "Hello I'm David Letterman I did my staff, male, females and my wife day and night .I use Viagra"

Trajan summed it up well in Comment 116.

Blackmail does suck, but sometimes karma can be a bitch. Letterman enjoyed the cheap politically correct laughs when he talked about Laura Bush's t-shirt that said "I'm with stupid.", and when he went after Sarah Palin and her family.

Guess he's not doing too much laughing now.

He gave no apology and seemed to be seething that he was forced to admit this.

I think he made it sound like a joke to take the pressure off. The audience never understood he was serious until he thanked the investigators.

Blackmail is a state-created crime. Why should anyone be punished for accepting cash to STFU? ~ Kristopher

Blackmail is the number one bread and butter money maker for the Japanese/Korean Yakuza organized crime.  Because of the sense of honor and the tradition of propriety among the Japanese and Koreans, blackmail is used to extort annual budgetary portions or control of companies and sometimes whole corporations by the Yakuza.

I always wondered about Dave. It never quite fit hearing on very very rare occasion of Paul's "wife".

What Letterman is willing to do to seek an audience. "I want to protect them and my family." Real stand up guy comedian, Dave. How much did Polanski pay Letterman to take off the heat from what wasn't rape rape?

Speaking of punitive actions according to justice, Polanski atones for raping and sodomizing a 13-year-old by running away from justice and having the Letterman community turn a blind eye for 30 years before pronouncing it's all OK after all. Letterman atones for shredding the Palin family by shredding them some more. Letterman atones for his sexual escapades lorded over his employees by going public to get more viewers.  Letterman had an employee who overcharged him for work at the Montana ranch put in prison for 10 years. What all else was involved at Letterman's Montana ranch to enrage an employee to to this point? "At the time, the comedian took it all in stride. Kelly Frank, who worked as a handyman on Letterman's Rocky Mountain ranch in Montana, was arrested for allegedly plotting to kidnap Letterman's then-16-month-old don, Harry.  Frank pleaded not guilty but got 10 years in jail for overcharging Letterman." abc news

Did Letterman apologize to his wife?

He did tell his wife in advance.  One reporter interviewed his mother about it and she said that his wife called and told her.  Mom stated that she was going to watch the show to find out what Dave had to say.  What a pussy!  He couldn't even tell his own mom.

Question:  Does Conan Obrien get to begin open ridicule of Letterman in his monologue tonight, or is there some sort of professional etiquette that would prevent NBC from doing so?

If it were Hugh Grant, or Jimmy Swaggart, or Mark Sanford they would obviously be fair game, but does being in direct competition with Letterman prevent them from making him the butt of jokes?

Was sexual performance part of their performance pay?

Did he think he was one attractive 62 year old guy or did he know he was paying for sex?

Be patient and check back often - it does open up. But it only opens for a day or so. They get so many trolls pouring in that it takes awhile to clean them up before they can open it again. It really isn't a clique, and I post there often. I am always seeing different names.

I do like the open policy here, but I see that Ace has a higher tolerance for foul language and edgy sarcasm. Still, I'm sure his job is thankless considering the number of trolls he must get. And if this blog continues to grow, he will need to make people register as well.

I propose that statements like that are no longer obligatory in cases like these.  Leftists aren't human, and expecting moral behavior from them is as ridiculous as making conversation with your dog.

I'll certainly be tuning in to hear Jay Leno's opening monologue tonight. And I don't usually do that.

What do you suppose? I guess "I know what you're thinking!" would be a terrific opening line. And then one of those big whonk noises Kev Eubanks can make on his guitar. "First Conan -- now this!" Oh yeah, maybe the greatest week ever to be a writer for Leno. Or not; we'll see.

Anybody seeing a cable-only opportunity opening up for Dave real soon? Somehow I don't think he'd be welcome back in Indianapolis as a weatherman.

198 Blackmail is a state-created crime. Why should anyone be punished for accepting cash to STFU? ~ Kristopher

I've wondered about this as well.  Granted it sounds creepy to be able to make money out of knowing about somebody else's behavior but I'd like some of the lawyers here to spell out why it's illegal; specifically why it isn't considered intellectual property in somebody's possession and they're entitled to market it just like selling a photograph.  In cases when the blackmail subject is committing a crime the state would use the information to prosecute the person; in that case is the underlying principle that only the state is allowed to use such information and has to be turned over the them?  How different is this from doing opposition research on a pol?

Also is anybody surprised by the timing of this?  Letterman was probably being slowly bled by the blackmailer and his bean-counters knew about it; when the Polanski situation came out they might have viewed it as the perfect time to arrange a sting and get out from under it.

In spite of audience applause, Letterman doesn't have the balls to look directly into the camera. He does a quick glance into the face forward camera; mostly his eyes go left and right. That tells you Letterman is aware he's a pig for preying on his female employees; if they had any sense, they'd sue him for sexual harassment. He's the guy in power; they're the lowly female employees who needed a job and thought they had to bang the boss to get/keep it. What a lot of scum these liberals are!

Heh, I wonder if Letterman's whole staff is going to be subjected to "Sexual harassment training" now.

Dave - A great way to protect your family is to stop schtupping your co-workers.  You weren't so worried about them when you were getting busy.

At least this explains why he hates Republicans for going after Bubba, standing up for family values, Palin, and anything else that shines a bright light on his own moral Fails.

I'm now even more convinced that everyone who says "Everybody Does It - Move On !" has Done It, is Doing it, and will Do It again.

OK, Dave, you've done the Jimmy Swaggart sackcloth and ashes routine - "One Night Only - Make Sure to See the Show !"  After a few days of looking contrite around the house and rationalizing how this was all someone else's fault, you can resume bending co-workers over the copier.

241 Unfunny Letterman jokes. My jokes are usually unfunny, but imagine I'm saying them in a funny way like I usually do:

Q: Why does every page Letterman prints have an ass imprinted on it?
A: Because he was doing a co-worker on top of the copy machine.

Q: What’s the difference between Bill Clinton and David Letterman?
A: David Letterman can’t play the sax.

Q: Why did David Letterman look for some ass on the side?
A: Because he’s a hetero dude married to another dude

Q: What’s the difference between Bristol and Letterman?
A: Bristol didn’t betray the trust formed by one of the most intimate human bonds possible.

Q: How many David Lettermans does it take to screw in a light-bulb?
A: As many as he can get away with before he starts getting blackmailed.

Q: What’s the worst part about punching Letterman in the face?
A: You get his DNA all over your boxing gloves. Which I suppose is a step up from getting his DNA all over your inside like some of his coworkers.

Q: Why did David Letterman feel the need to make sex jokes about underage girls?
A: He’s already been through every other age group at his job.

Did you hear the one about Letterman and his work? He’s always kept abreast of the situation.

Last weekend, I ordered chocolate Ugg Classic Cardy hoping they wouldn't show marks as much as my beige ugg cardy boots and waterproofed them when I first got them. They look so much cleaner than my old beige ugg boots, I wear my Whooga's all year round, they don't make my feet sweat as much as my older pair. I'm very impressed with how they are holding up to my abuse, very well made. My only suggestion to everyone is keep them dry and out of the mud.Ugg Classic Cardy!
