Oh Dear Sweet Lord: Tim Blair Pwns Charles Johnson, So Charles Johnson... Bans Him From Even Viewing His Site?

Tim Blair wades into the archives to find a bunch of Then and Now posts, with CJ plainly taking 180-degree-opposite oppositions a scant handful of months ago.

The most enjoyable one is this -- and note the disclaimer -- fresh, I imagine, added upon Blair's discovery of it.

Culminating in, as usual, a banning:

And now I’m blocked:

Come on, Barry! What's the big deal? It's only a birth certificate.

What's with the hiding?

Yeah! I think we have a right to know. Not releasing it only sends the message that there's something to hide.

I think this is important. If he'd hide something that should be pretty trivial like his birth certificate- what else would he keep from the American public?

26 What in the world has happened to Charles? LGF, once upon a time, was a daily stop for me. But around the time he got a bee up his ass about the Vlaams Belang and creationism stuff, he just seemed to lose his damned mind. (Or he took up with a far-left girlfriend whom he's trying to impress.) Charles never was a righty, I knew that; but he was a voice of common sense and sanity, at least -- something that hasn't been true for a long while now. If he's trying to ingratiate himself with the likes of DU or KOS...he's dreaming. He not only burned those bridges, but hit them with napalm from a great height.

Whatever issues he is working through, I wish him well. He did yeoman work in the dark days and years after 9/11. If he did go off the rails, at least he waited until the worst of the storm was past.

At this point, the bestthing to do about him is to ignore him like the meth addict on the corner who is screaming at everybody and has a bucket for you to drop cash into.

Oh, and I find it lovely that his newest batch of "lizards" come from Kos/DU/Huffpo. Too bad they don't want anything to do with him.

Your LGF link is to an anti-Birther screed, Ace, that seems unrelated to the Tim Blair story. I'd suggest not having a direct link to it anyway, and just quote whatever crap CJ's said against Blair for, undoubtedly, so fairly and accurately quoting him to his face.

44 Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I think we are thinking about this allllllllll wrong.

Charles isn't the bad guy here, he simply decided to make a deal with the guys at Pajamas Media to help out the conservative blogosphere. Just look at the evidence. He leave PJM, goes wacky and bans hundreds (1000+) of commenters, driving them to start their own blogs and give their previous LGF traffic to other blogs like Ace and HotAir (but mostly Ace).

Genius!

Even better though, is that he obviously didn't plan this at all, but this is what has happened: his actions have led to driving away most of his readership (and income from the site) and have further helped to drive up readership and traffic of all the sites he hates. heh

pwned, bitch!

Please note: this story has been thoroughly debunked. When this article was originally posted, there was no documentation available and the question was reasonable. However, now that we have seen Obama’s certification of live birth, and the State of Hawaii has vouched for the existence of his actual birth certificate, the issue is dead."

Obama's citizenship is not his personal business, but his birth certificate is.

Just rumors.

What? Are you seriously suggesting that it doesn't matter whether he's a citizen or not? Because without the birth certificate, there's no way to know for sure.

A US citizen's birth certificate contains NO sensitive personal information. What could possibly be Obama's reason for refusing to release it?

Thanks. It was my wife's favorite animal. It was our baby, really. We adopted her 3 years ago from a family that didn't want her. She was so appreciative to have a home where she got attention. Most loving dog ever. My wife is out of the country right now, so I had to email her to let her know. It's rough.

103 This is one of the (many) reasons I don't blog.* I like the give-and-take of commenting, and the occasional long-form piece, but I am always astonished at the bile that the internet-people bring to any disagreement. I confine much of my personal writing these days to actual handwritten letters to family and friends, secure in the knowledge that while we may disagree, no one is going to accuse me of sucking the barbed cock of Satan for arguing in favor of a slightly regressive tax rate or freer concealed-carry laws.

*The primary reason being, of course, that Ace is my muse and without the totally-not-gay-I-swear-before-almighty-God** vibe I get from him, I'm left speechless.

**Well, okay. Maybe a little gay. But only a little.***

105 I read at another blog that Roger Simon mentioned Charles recently went through a pretty brutal divorce that left him with little more than his bike, his Hyundai, and his website. Also, being fired from Pajamas TV, something he co-founded, must have been especially painful. I think you can trace his turn to these events. The Rather thing should have made him a bankable blogger. It didn't. Now, in his 50s, going through all this shit, you almost can't blame the guy for going off the rails. This is no defense. Just a shot at understand how utterly bitter he has become towards the right. He probably hates chicks too. Which is why I'm still surprised he uses Sharmuta as a sock-puppet.

111 I'm gonna have to take a different tack this time.

I have no problem with another CJ-bashing post. Already, the scorn is surging through my veins.

However, I would be remiss in not pointing out that while I am glad that so many ex-Liztards are making their way over to AoSHQ, you're gonna have to spare me the wistful glances back over your shoulder.

NEWSFLASH: The last time you were with Uncle Diddles, he tried to put his finger in your butt. Now you want to say, "Well, yeah, but we had such a good time together with the Dan Rather thing, and the Islam thing..."

NO!!! I don't care what he did, he's the guy who tried to put a finger in your butt.

Chaz accused Robert Spencer of being an anti Muslim bigot today. He should go into his own archives and chek his threads out and STFU.

Typical CJ hypocrisy.  Back when the left would routinely label LGF as a "far-right hate site", his defense was that any inflammatory comments didn't represent him or his blog, and it was unfair to judge a blogger by comments.  It was routine to label those who left such comments as a moby.

Now?  His own moderator leaves racist comments on other sites in the middle of the night, with not a word of criticism.  Any comments he disapproves of (particularly those disparaging CJ himself) are a complete indictment of that site.

I see that now he's referring to RS McCain as a "white supremicist" over a post that recounted an incident McCain witnessed on a bus to the DC rally.  Insane.

The martyr complex is strong with CJ.

139 I got a hat tip from Charles once. Brought him something like five million hits, slogged his server to mush for days, and became an international story. Then he went goofy and didn't like someone I had on my blogroll who called him Captain Queeg. I kept the blogroll unchanged and got banned as a 'creationist supporter'. I'm not really, but I don't like to lose elections to socialists so I turn the other cheek to the fundamentalist types. It's in my blood to want a prosperous nation with a healthy economy. I guess its a character flaw in CJs eyes.

It gets funny now. The New York Times wrote something favorable about CJ and linked to my hat-tipped article. CJ changed the incoming traffic  from the NYT link to a different story. I guess he was afraid I was going to blast him to the NYT readers who 'drilled down' to my site. I had no such intention but he's paranoid as hell.

He's a piece of work.

154 Sharmuta has a lot of time on her hands. She's been unemployed since 1996 when she was fired from from her cashier job at Krispy Kreme for stealing. After  unemployment benefits ran out she applied for and was granted SSI benefits due to severe Pickwickian Syndrome. This condition prevents her from being able to lie down to sleep, so she spends 24 hours a day sitting in a steel-reinforced loveseat and is able to type by resting her keyboard on the lowest of her six chins. She was sued for eviction in 2001 due to constant complaints from neighbors as far as three houses away concerning "unbearable stench" emanating from her house. However, the case had to be dropped after four unsuccessful attempts by the fire department and EMTs to extract her from the residence.

Stupid AND intellectually dishonest.  Deleting what he said in the past proves only that he's embarrassed, not that he's actually learned anything.  If his new beliefs were sincere and based on fact rather than a replacement pseudoreligious dogma, he'd avoid the charged term "climate deniers" and present the factual information that led him to change his mind.

His creationist stance is correct-but he beats that drum too hard.

He's fond of all sorts of cheats and errors: guilt by association, post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacies, empty appeals to authority.  If he believes in it or agrees with it, he doesn't need any standards whatsoever;  if he disbelieves or disagrees, he sets impossible standards -- or just shoots the messenger.  (Can anyone who outright bans dissent be considered intellectually honest?)

As for his Creationist stance, he certainly has the right to reject Biblical Creation and Intelligent Design as his personal beliefs, and I agree with him that those belief systems are not appropriate for public schools.  But he's "evolved" to the point where he doesn't think anybody should be allowed to hold those beliefs personally -- that is, he thinks that anyone with those beliefs is a dangerous kook who should not have all of the rights and privileges of first-class citizens (you know, like holding public office, or expressing opinions in the press).

It's cool.

Good. You actually kept me on your blogroll even after my banning. Which I thought was kinda brave, with CJ's history. Of course you might now have more traffic than lgf... which is funny. All of the bloggers who got their start there probably combined passed lgf years ago.

It was kinda funny how CJ bristled when lgf was nominated for an award as a 'community blog' - almost as if he was embarrassed that there were people there who actually shared common values and enjoyed conversing with each other.

Ace, I swear this happened the other night . . .

I had regeistered something like a year ago, and never posted (at least I don't remember writing anything).  The other night, I had enough of Prince Charles' favorite technique of tying the radioactive isotopes of commenters to Michelle Malkin directly.  He loves this millstoning-by-association approach, so I simply asked him a question.

I told him I had a screen cap of one of his commenters implying that Glenn Beck has sex with a giant rubber frog. I then presumed Johnson deleted the comment (which I think he did) and banned the member, "Salamantis," from posting.

I asked Charles if this was really fair.  I posted, saw it there, refreshed.  My Lord, in TEN seconds flat I was blocked and my post taken down.  I wasn't trolling.  I was jusy asking this alleged "stand-up" guy a simple question of semantics.

So I guess my assumption is to read that either raging darwinists are abject pansies, or that balls and backbone undertake some evolutionary dissipation.  Either way, Johnson's proving himself a Galapagos Eunuch of the highest order.

I'll bet that name sticks, too.

266 And he has a new post up titled, "Lecture Buyers Not Buying Palin." This is part of the same pattern he developed with Glenn Beck, attempting to "prove" that someone Charles dislikes is also universally disliked. (Actually, the news item about Palin is bunk - at last count, she had over 1,000 invitations to speak.)

Posted by: stuiec at October 01, 2009 06:35 PM (7AOgy)

What a douchenozzle CJ is.  That shit was on Page 6 of the NY Post and was a quote by some anonymous cockholster.  The price tag for that Hong Kong speech she gave is rumored to be $300,000.  So apparently they are buying.

Zombie - who thinks that fundamentalist Christians should be purged from the Republican party in order to attract moderates from the left? Then later posts pics of gay men on her blog orally gratifying each other on the streets of San Fran? I can't think of a better way to get them stirred up and paging through Leviticus than 'that kind' of stuff. I could never figure out which side of the aisle the Z was on.

#260 Therapist

He has nothing better to do.

A man in his 50s, recently divorced, broke, unlauded, uninvited to any new Jazz touring gigs, new and ephemeral friend of Andrew Sullivan, pony-tail and broken bike.

He literally sits at his PC all day and night TROLLING HIS OWN SITE!

Could you imagine that?

Tonight many of us will read a book, have a steak, call a daughter at college, play Crysis, start a screenplay, have a beer, make love to a wife, tell a son we're proud of him, root for a baseball team, post at AoShq, write a poem, listen to Hendrix or old hip-hop (Eric B & Rakim).

Not Charles. He'll monitor his site. He'll monitor the entire internet(s). He'll stalk himself and any mention of him and his blog. He'll sleep briefly and do it all again. He won't make but eight dollars and seventeen cents for his efforts. He will look at the clock. It is 6:22am PST.

He'll do it all over again.

I weep for him. I hope for something more for him.

294 just to let you know guys: to get your account blocked, you don't need actually to post anything, to "down-ding"  his pearls of wit&wisdom or to comment  on/link to any site he dislikes.

I didn't comment there for a year or two, recently logged in and used his search machine to look for some older posts he'd like to hide now, perhaps. And for several users: namely, "shug", "baldilocks" and "zombie". I wanted to see for myself what was going on.

311 His remaining traffic is of the can't-stop-watching-train-wreck variety.  So I'd recommend not going there.

If anyone still cares, he had some kind of psychotic break around the time of the SIOE conference in 2007.  Charles installed comment up-dinging and down-dinging and turned on Robert Spencer, among others.  The "Celtic Cross" comments are actually very perceptive as that's exactly when he stopped being in any way rational.

The Celtic, Solar, around-Jesus'-head-for-frickin-millenia Cross is a symbol of the KKK (with a blood drop) and some other hate group, granted.  But it's also probably the most common symbol in the western world.  Once you start noticing them you'll never stop.  Trust me.  OMG my cell phone is a racist!  Crap, so is my anti-virus software!  And so on.

I learned more about religion in 2007 during that mess than I ever knew before just by studying the history of that one symbol.  And about a week after Charles posted the anti-DeWinter screed, and all that 'symbology' (Paging Dr. Langdon) I studied, I tried to comment on the symbol.  It was like an Internet gulag by then.  I pointed out Irish Rose's four-leaf clover icon was a symbol of the Aryan Nations and she dropped so many expletives on me I began to wonder if anyone at that place could reason any more.

"Yes, I know the four-leaf clover isn't JUST a racist hate symbol...  That's kinda the point..."

And it turned out, no, they couldn't reason any more.

I eventually went back to get banned by dropping a few links on Milosevic's trial.  It could have been anything, but I got pissed off at the "hang Serbs" comments he let slide.  I'm not one, but my hypocrimeter spiked and I figured it was a good time to cut ties.  I've been back once by accident when I clicked an old link I was trying to delete.

He always seemed a little creepy.  Never mistrust that feeling, I've learned.

312 I don't know the details but it's really sad. Charles Johnson's LGF used to be one of my favorite blogs a few years ago.

Posted by: Tennyson at October 01, 2009 09:43 PM (K1TkI)

313 In all seriousness, the guy is unstable. Just a quick perusal of LGF and you'll see it drips with Chuckles paranoid delusions. He's lost 30% of his readers, and it's a safe bet that another 30% are just going there to watch his mental breakdown. Most of the posts are only getting around 200 comments when  1000 comments used to be a regular occurrence on every post. Chuckles and his cult at LGF are nothing but a laughingstock now.

Posted by: koopy at October 01, 2009 09:50 PM (a+cN7)

314 Sad, really. I contributed a lot to the site, I think. Posted a lot of links, had a pretty high karma, bought a few lunches for CJ, even hosted a lizard meet up.

Ultimately, it was not worth the elevated blood pressure, and I hear that CJ has finally come out and denounced the entire Right, this after laying the heavy lumber on BHO all during the campaign.

I just figured I would leave the site since I wasn't one of those Colin Powell type of Republicans that they all seem so enamored of over there.

I am more of a Goldwater type.

Posted by: rawmuse at October 01, 2009 09:53 PM (cuWk2)

315 What really is pathetic isn't even his all-to-familiar drift to the left (he's educated himself about global warming, y'see...).  It's the banning.  This clown has the temerity to accuse just about everyone under the sun of being closed-minded dolts, yet he now bans anyone who doesn't vocally and enthusiastically endorse everything he says.   God forbid you express disagreement with Lord Ponytail.  Banning is such the chickenshit way to go, you fucking coward.

Posted by: radar at October 01, 2009 09:55 PM (NUHQ3)

Really?  He was just over there a week or so ago going on about how he likes hairy men - which is something he mentioned at LGF oh, only about 4000 times since 2002.  I figured the reason he was one of the few remaining LGFers from the old days was because he was simply writing exhibitionist comments about his sexual preferences and experiences and staying mum about anything else.

322 BTW, I was "Beagle".  20,000 + posts, half dozen hat tips, more topics he used of mine without credit, never got a comment deleted (sorry about that one dirty link government employee who complained -- I needed a large-breasted woman wearing glasses, It was topical! -- maybe he should have deleted that one) and I was banned in a few comments which went against LGF rightthink.

Trial before hanging, even for Serbs.  I'll stand by that.

Oh, and like a complete idiot I once gave Charles way too much personal info in an e-mail, WAAAAAAAAY too much.  I have to pray his spam filter got it.    So I generally try not to pile on.

But seeing as he appears to have put on about a hundred pounds in four years and is acting truly nutty, I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs.  Or not.  Trains colliding head on! Weeeeeeeee!

326 Jack D., myself, I think Zombie's on the wrong side.  I do not trust him/her, though I doubt he/she will be at LGF much longer.

I think Throbert got banned because he stopped talking about hairy chested men, and defended some banned posters, saying how much he'd enjoyed talking to them.  Both iceweasel, and Sharmuta, got after him for that.  Shoulda stuck to hairy chested men.

Anybody want to make any bets as to when iceweasel, Sharmuta, Irish Rose, the Albanian Nazi and Kilgore will wage their cataclysmic, cage-match, mud-wrestling match, to decide which one of them gets to be Charles's most favorite human being?  It's gonna be the fight of the century!

Posted by: Rhinestone Suderman at October 01, 2009 11:03 PM (TafJB)

327 Oh, Zombie hates Christians.  She/he might love LGF, but I think it's only a matter of time before she/he gets booted.

I logged into my long-dormant (at least 4 years) LGF account, clicked a couple of minuses, bye-bye account.  I was looking for a way to get banned without having to troll or (even worse) read enough of that drivel to find something worth commenting on, so thanks!

331 Iceweasel, Sharmuta, Irish Rose, Kilgore and the Albanian Nazi, together again for the first time, as they battle for the love of Pony-tail boy!

Wouldn't it make a great reality show?  They could do stuff like ride bicycles, to show their love for Charles, or take pictures of beaches for him to post on LGF, or buy everything he recommends from Amazon!

335 I don't visit LGF anymore and wonder if Charles links to Zombie anymore or is that relatioinship over, too.  Remember when he linked to Zombie's post questioning if Obama actually attended Columbia and if Obama was involved with Ayers in NY, specifically the bombings there?  I'm sure he's deleted that post/link since it questions Obama's biography.

What would Charles say now that Fukino has been caught lying about HI state law - which actually REQUIRES her to show what records, requests, and actions have been taken in regards to vital documents?

And now that she has made the statement that Obama was born in HI and is a "natural-born American citizen" she is required to disclose to anyone who asks the documents she used in making that statement - including the birth certirficate itself and the opinion letter from the HI AG regarding the definition of "natural-born American citizen" (Fukino's exact phrase).

Oh, and HI officials have basically admitted that Obama's birth certificate has been amended - leaving wide open all the possibilities for a foreign birth even though his birth certificate might say otherwise.

There's BIG trouble brewing for Hawaii officials. They have broken so many laws it's going to be hard to keep up with it all. It's looking like Fukino's statement was in response to an observant person asking them for Obama's AMENDED original birth certificate. The DOH office seems to be in panic mode.

343 I think it would be amusing to pull a reverse disapproval tactic on Charles.
Rush used to do this on his show.  If there was a restaurant or some business that got noted for banning/disapproving of him he would ask the local dittoes to explicitly patronize the business and note while doing so that they were Rush fans.  Business shot through the roof for a while and then slacked back.  Storngly emphasizes the point of what you are really mising.
It would be fun if everyone got themselves a new LGF account and then loudly proclaimed on any thread how brilliant Charles was for post X.  Loudly, vociferously, and embarassingly fawningly, think Smithers toward Mr. Burns.
Give him a + check and then come back and give him another.  Doesn't have to be an original post, use Ctrl-V a lot.
Remember: the cause of inflation is way too much money.  Zimbabwe LGF!
