Stupid Illiterate Who Faked a Pregnancy Now Number One on Barnes and Nobe, Amazon
Update: "Unprecedented"

Not really surprising, really. It's never been doubted that Palin had a lot of supporters, most of whom were passionate supporters. (Unlike, say, Tom Ridge, who may have supporters, but they tend to be pretty meh on him.)

So this isn't really vindication or the like, but it's nice that the usual idiots must be annoyed. Even though they should have seen this coming, they hate her so much it scrambles their brains.

"Unprecedented:" At the top of the charts 48 days out from actual release, apparently the only non-fiction book to accomplish such a feat.

So -- big or Harry Potter big?

Number One at Amazon, Too: To save space, I was going to claim she was number one at Amazon, even though she wasn't when I posted, because I knew it was a matter of time.

Well, that time is upon us.

I hope she mentions all the gaffes that the uber smooth, super smart Obama has made in his time as president (since the media was so quick to smear anything she said as stupid and uninformed).  I also hope that she includes little tidbits about government waste like this (from Hotair); since the Dems are pushing a 4 billion dollar bailout for the Post Office:

The U.S. Postal Service, struggling with a massive deficit caused by plummeting mail volume, spends more than a million dollars each week to pay thousands of employees to sit in empty rooms and do nothing.

It’s a practice called “standby time,” and it has existed for years — but postal employees say it was rarely used until this year. Now, postal officials say, the agency is averaging about 45,000 hours of standby time every week — the equivalent of having 1,125 full-time employees sitting idle, at a cost of more than $50 million per year.

Mail volume is down 12.6 percent compared with last year, and many postal supervisors simply don’t have enough work to keep all employees busy. But a thicket of union rules prevents managers from laying off excess employees; a recent agreement with the unions, in fact, temporarily prevents the Postal Service from even reassigning them to other facilities that could use them.

Can you say another public funded rubber room?  One of the things that made Sarah such a good candidate was her commitment to fighting government waste.

"Think Progress talking point bullshit at the Thanksgiving table."

We solved out problem three years past.  Our oldest liberal is a 44-year old male, and his family of four are permanently banned from our home.  Also, as an unrepentant prick, he has been removed from the Last Will & Testament.  Don't screw with grandpa or you'll feel the Barbed Cock of Satan up your squeakhole.

100 From Politico:

Two days after the release date of Sarah Palin’s book was announced, it's already become the top seller at both Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

Palin’s publisher announced Monday that the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice presidential candidate had finished her memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," early and was moving the release date up from the spring to November 17.

A Palin source told POLITICO that she "is very grateful" for the strong early sales.

"This book has taken off like a rocket," the source said.

HarperCollins will print 1.5 million copies for the book’s first run, the same number that was printed for late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s memoir "True Compass."

Kennedy’s book, published earlier this month, currently stands at number six on the Amazon list.

A publishing industry source told POLITICO that they "cannot remember a non-fiction book taking off like this in the pre-order market. It became number one only a couple of hours after nothing more than a date announcement. It is truly unprecedented."

101 Hey Jerome:

Under water grottos, caverns

Filled with apes

That eat figs.

Stepping on the figs

That the apes

Eat, they crunch.

The apes howl, bare

Their fangs, dance,

Tumble in the

Rushing water,

Musty, wet pelts

Glistening in the blue.

'nuff said.

Jane,

That's because your sister, as you say, is a crazy-assed liberal, and like most of the breed, thinks it's A-OK to push their ideology on any one, at any place, and at any time.

At my cousin's wedding last year, my uncle, who is a fairly well known photographer (and globetrotting Eurotwit wannabe) turned around and said to us (sotto voice), "I sure hope Obama wins."

We had not seen the guy in a few years, we are at a wedding, and this is the first thing he needs to say to us.  And he wasn't saying it in a mocking way, but in the perfectly reasonable tone one less oblivious to propriety and good manners would use to say "the bride sure looks nice," or "what a pretty little flower girl."

Elderly folks are particularly susceptible to the power of suggestion.  My sister is a full blown conservative, and we make sure our 97-year old mom is not contaminated by liberal orthodoxy.

Mom voted for FDR, Truman, Kennedy, and LBJ, but that ended with Carter.  She has been a strong conservative since, and has a working knowledge of the issues.

156 Look, I am a Palin backer, but I also acknowledge she has some areas of opportunity for improvement.  However, can anyone legitimately argue that the writer of that story in the NYP would ever quote an "anonymous source" who said something so derisive about B to the O?

Seriously, what do they teach in journalism school these days?  Can we do away with quoting "anonymous" in all stories?

Mark Styne's article quoting Lloyd Marcus on who we know the left thinks is dangerous is very appropriate to this topic.

164 Will say it again.  The only one out there who has a chance, a chance to kill the Dem/Obama machine in 2012 is Romney, and he only has that chance if he pre-selects a killer cabinet, picks Palin for VP, and positions said "team" as, essentially the Allstar Team that will be ready on day 1 to start undoing the damage of Obama, Pelosi, Frank, Schumer, et al.

Romney may be too boring on his own, but (1) after Mr. Charisma Hope and Change brought us disaster, boring, non-charisma may actually be a plus, or at least not a minus.  And (2) in the eyes of enough voters "independents, if you will)  Palin compensates for Romney's boring, and his "flipper/not-conservative baggage," and his LDS issue.  Romney compensates with a segment of the electorate who aren't sold on Palin's smarts.

I don't think a VP can also be part of a President's cabinet, but Palin should be put in charge of ENERGY to the extent Constitutionally possible.

And then Palin eventually runs for President from there...

192 I for one have never given any credence to those that claim that Sarah is not sharp. They have NO evidence that is the case, except some highly edited video where the answers do not necessarily match the questions.

I can't name another politician ANYWHERE that has had two positions where they lower the cost of government, clean up corruption (even in her own party) and actually make government smaller. She did it both at the Mayoral level and as Governor of Alaska.

I think she was held back significantly by the top of the ticket, and I don't want to see her at the bottom of a Romney or other ticket in the next cycle.

And I did giggle that at her site, she does indeed have Ace, Treacher, and Iowahawk. Notably missing is Hot Air. So if she was ever guilty of not knowing her true friends (or even enemies like the MSM) she's gotten over that.

Rush:  Do you think libs are afraid of Huckabee?  No.  Do you think libs are afraid of Romney?  No. The left will always tell you who they're afraid of.  They're afraid of Palin.  They're terrified of her.  And it makes my head damn near explode to hear people on our side dumb enough to buy into the left's criticisms of  her.

228 Woman on DU started a thread:  what would you do with Sarah Palin's book?

Lots of toilet responses, bird cage, pet bed liner, etc.  One reponder hysterical at all "the lies" Palin would tell.

The thread starter has had a running memoir of her own on DU, divorced, drunk, affairs, unemployed, unemployable, not much in the way of achievements in her 45 years,  also on Prozac, etc.

Others on thread similarly situated -- no hopers, trying to get on welfare, complaints about therapists, etc.

Palin's truly remarkable accomplishments are nails in the eyes of these Lefty losers.

Could this lack of even the effort to do something positive with their lives be the
source of their rabid hatred of  someone like Palin who makes success seem effortless?

229 #170 Methos, we NEED a "middleman" for the blue and purple states.  Frankly, we need "middleman" because, as much as I love her, Palin is not now, and not in 2012 ready to be President.  Yes, she is infinitely more suited and qualified than Obama, but that's a very low bar.  It's not an insult; it's just the way it is.  And it's an academic point because she ain't getting the needed electoral votes in 2012, and possibly not 2012 without some clever strategery.

The original was "WHAT PRICE WINSTON?" and was a rhetorical question aimed at the Chamberlain government to include the maverick MP as part of the Cabinet. I think that rhetorical question ought to be aimed at the Republicans, and the AMerican public, in 2012.

Now. Ms. Sarah Palin is more than qualified to run this country.   As qualified as W. More qualified than Gore. More qualified than #44. Romney is not a star. He is oatmeal.  Stout and filling, but not the leader needed for what is facing us.  Think overpricing that trophy home.  yeah, it's pretty, but it sat there unsold for too long, now it's toxic.  Palin is still looking for the proper price point and venue.

Posted by: Johnathan E. at September 30, 2009 08:26 PM (dQdrY)

Sure, provided that the GOP changes its lunatic primary process.

For example, no way should a lib state like New Hampshire be one of the earliest--therefore, disproportionately influential--primaries.

For another example, no way would McCain have won Texas if it hadn't been for Texas being an "open primary" state, and so many Democrats crossing over to vote in the Republican primary.

Stupid, self-defeating things like this are in large part why McCain got the nomination.
