HmmMMMM!: Winner & Associates Was on NEA Conference Call
A bit of backstory.
Before the election, My Pet Jawa found that very-professional style supposedly "grassroots" nasty hit job videos on Sarah Palin were being posted on YouTube. He discovered that these were created by a Democrat-connected California PR agency named Winner & Associates. The suspicion was that the ads had been created, covertly, with Axelrod's connivance, to create a fake "grassroots viral video" that couldn't be traced to Obama. But it couldn't be proven. In the end it was smoke but no fire. A lot of smoke, and yet no smoking gun. Ethan Winner confessed to making the video, but claimed he hadn't had contact with David Axelrod for ten years, it was all just something he felt like spending thousands of dollars on himself. As a goof. Well. Okay. What was a rep for Winner & Associates doing on that conference call? You know, the one where White House official Buffy Wicks thanked everyone for helping them win the campaign? I don't know about this yet -- I really do not know if I can say this significantly advances the case. Need to mull it. But it sure seems... coincidental.Thanks to ThomasM. Actually... What the hell is a political PR agency doing on a conference call for artists in the first place? Are we talking art, or are we talking professional political campaign ads? I know the answer, of course. I'm being rhetorical. I really want to know why Winner, who was supposedly incommunicado with fellow Democratic ad maker David Axelrod for ten years (already hard to believe), was doing with a representative (for "casting") on that call. Who thought to invite his firm? And why, exactly? They're not artists. So what the hell? By the Way: Rusty just got into his email and just got this tip. Ironically, a Winner rep explains why the Office of Public Engagement needs a PR firm all of a sudden thusly:

To help underscore this openness, the Office of Public liaison was re-launched and re-branded as the Office of Public Engagement.

Well, this is fun and all that, but it won't catch on fire the way the health care debacle did. I'm happy to see another pin go down, but I think it'll end up being just that - another pin that gets replaced in the dead of night. Sounds like there were lots of non-artists on that call. Nothing necessarily wrong with that. But it also looks like the White House has paid Winner and Associates for the "launch" of OPE - probably included setting up the serve.gov website and a few other things. This needs to be investigated.
The Office of Public Liaison has been around for a long time, and has always been essentially the in-house PR group in the White House, with staffers assigned to be "liaisons" to whatever groups the current Administration wants to stroke (e.g. small business, Latinos, evangelicals, women.) Most of these people's duties involve giving speeches to the groups and acting as a sounding board for them to express their complaints or wishes to the President, and keeping senior political staff in tune with what the groups are saying and talking about.

Just heard Hannah and James interviewed by Dennis Miller. James said Breitbart is using the "drip, drip, drip" technique of Saul Alinsky to produce death by a thousand cuts. Asked if there were any specific videos to involving child prostitution rings/ACORN assists, James wouldn't say, but he said there are more ACORN videos to come. I think there is a lot more to be found here, and hope everyone keeps digging. I think it's the tip of the iceberg. I had already written about the NEA reference to the "corporation" (CNCS), the same group that is planning the Obama agenda "must see TV" lineup for fall: http://tiny.cc/i51Gn AARP is even involved in this endeavor. This is the same "corporation" that saw to it that Inspector General Gerald Walpin was fired.
