| WaPo Buries the Lead: Obama's Team Scrubbed School Speech of Politically-Charged Elements in Response to Right's CriticismIn a story about how the Obama Administration is debating internally "how hard" to hit back against conservative opponents -- so far, it seems, shock of shocks, they're delivering the attacks to liberal outlets (um, that would be the Past-Tense Media) to make the attacks on Obama's behalf as he stays "post-partisan" 'n stuff -- we have this revelation: he White House officials are eager to avoid the perception that the president is directly engaging critics who appear to speak only for a vocal minority, and part of their strategy involves pushing material to liberal and progressive media outlets to steer the coverage in their direction, senior advisers said. When critics lashed out at President Obama for scheduling a speech to public school students this month, accusing him of wanting to indoctrinate children to his politics, his advisers quickly scrubbed his planned comments for potentially problematic wording. They then reached out to progressive Web sites such as the Huffington Post, liberal bloggers and Democratic pundits to make their case to a friendly audience. The controversy escalated, but by the time it was over, White House advisers thought they had emerged with the upper hand. The speech, they said, was the most-viewed live video on any government Web site in history, and they were pleased with the media coverage of the event. But of course they were. Comments1

Millions of children got to experience the reality of Obama rather than the ideal. Basically, the President of the United States bored the crap out of them for 25 minutes. Ok, when I read this initially I had the same thought. Then I re-read it and had this take..."scrubbed his planned comments for"
Shouldn't that say either "reviewed his planned comments for" or "scrubbed his planned comments of". IOW, they could make the case there were no problematic wordings removed, they just looked for ones that could be misconstrued. It's very poorly worded because we're left to wonder if something was removed. Posted by: The Hammer at September 16, 2009 11:06 AM (YBTwf) 21

President Obama, being ever resourceful and brilliant, managed to fill the empty spaces with 76 references to himself and his historic life. Most expect this speech to be chiseled in pink granite in room 3 of the Obama Memorial to be constructed on an island in the middle of the Lincoln Memoral Reflecting Pool. Yes, the WH changed the speech to remove the obvious propaganda and return it to content similar to previous President’s speeches at school.
The problem is that this has become the norm for Il Douche’s administration. Push the envelope to new inappropriate heights never seen before. Step back and wait for a response from “the press”. If the MSM is quite he gets a win and a new precedent is set; the communism and loss of freedom marches on.
If it is noted by observant conservatives, and Fox picks it up, they can back off and say it was “out of context” or a “misquote. The change the speech and move on. The problem is that we never know how many of these outrageous things are getting by. We have only one network that is actually following this shit and I am sure they are not publishing everything. I kept my kids home that day. I heard later, from the school administration, no less, that they had a *40%* absence rate that day, with another 15% being "excused" from the classrooms during the speech. That was the first time I have EVER received a call from the attendance officer of any school, regarding my kids' absences. "Are they sick?"

When critics lashed out at President Obama for scheduling a speech to public school students this month, accusing him of wanting to indoctrinate children to his politics, his advisers quickly scrubbed his planned comments for potentially problematic wording. I see wiggle room here. Ace said "scrubbed school speech OF politically-charged elements" while the paper said scrubbed "FOR" such wording. The reporter either made a poor word choice -- "scrubbed" when he meant "screened" -- or was deliberately unclear.

The speech... was the most viewed live video on any government web site in history..." Well, I should hope so, what with millions of captive viewers in every classroom in America. Or, if they're talking about the number of individuals accessing the net to view it, hell's bells -- how many people voluntarily watch government propaganda over the net anyway? They must be in the tens! All they'd need would be about 1,000 curiosity seekers to set the record for hits on a government web site, fer catssake. So all those people, like Bill O'Reilly and Laura Bush, who said there was nothing wrong with making a speech to schoolchildren, should apologize. It is because of the uproar that the speech itself was made innocuous.

I was thinking it reminded me of those USSR elections where Pravda reports without a hint of irony that Comrade Commissar Ivan Paininthebuttski gets 100% of the vote.
Remember Saddam's last election? He got 99.7% of the vote. The catch is that the question was "Shall Saddam be re-elected to another 10-year term?" (Y/N), and each ballot was printed with the voter's name and address, with names being checked off a list by government "monitors" as their ballots were handed in. This was, of course, during the era when Saddam's two offspring were busily running the torture rooms filled with anyone who had annoyed them. It's a wonder that as many as 3 out of a thousand had the guts to not vote for him.. Posted by: Drumwaster at September 16, 2009 12:29 PM (M34RW) 71

Last weekend, I ordered chocolate Ugg Classic Cardy hoping they wouldn't show marks as much as my beige ugg cardy boots and waterproofed them when I first got them. They look so much cleaner than my old beige ugg boots, I wear my Whooga's all year round, they don't make my feet sweat as much as my older pair. I'm very impressed with how they are holding up to my abuse, very well made. My only suggestion to everyone is keep them dry and out of the mud.Ugg Classic Cardy!
