And There You Go: Charles Johnson Spins for Van Jones
Charles Johnson used to hate Truthers.
Until a Truther joined his precious Obama Administration.
And now?
Well, he's got a cute answer: Of course the Truthers are lying by including Van Jones' name on their petition.
Note he claims this despite the fact that Van Jones himself will not claim it. Van Jones claims to not be a Truther, but he pointedly does not claim his name was falsely signed to the petition.
Apparently CJ considers himself free to spin whatever defenses he wants to protect his precious Obama Administration, even defenses refused by the person in dispute, who ought to know.
If Van Jones himself were claiming his name was falsely signed to the petition, I guess I could blow this off as no big deal. He said, she said. In such a dispute, actually presented by a contesting of the facts by the parties, Johnson could choose to believe Jones' account.
But Charles Johnson is now simply inventing defenses for Jones. He's not choosing to believe Jones' side of it. He's making up a defense, putting it into Jones' mouth, and then claiming "I believe Jones."
Look, whatever. I don't really have any interest in discussing Charles Johnson. I have no personal grudge against him.
But I do find it interesting how easily he contorts himself into whatever new shapes the Obama Administration requires.
I think that that is finally that.
There is simply no point any longer arguing with CJ or protesting his bannings or all the rest of it. He is plainly an ObamaBot, as zealous a partisan as Eric Holder or David Axelrod, and it's time to just accept that and MoveOn.org.
Jones "Forgot" to Mention Johnson's Suggested Defense That He Never Signed the Petition, But He Comes Up With One That Should Pass Johnson's Low Bar:He didn't "carefully review the language in the petition" before signing it.

And as an ABC commenter pointed out, Van Jones was so important and on everybody's radar screen in 2004 that the Truthers decided to forge his name on their petition. That's really believable, isn't it?

Charles Johnson is an internet Nero, performing art and athletics and forcing his minions to praise him. "What an artist the world is losing in me" were Nero's final words and I can just see ol' CJ saying that as he passes.

Finally, CJ has been incrimentally losing his mind.
He hates glenn beck so much that he is willing to side with anyone else who hates beck. The sad thing is that beck doesn't like birthers, creationism, anti vaccine people, just like Charles Johnson, but he is still not pure enough for CJ.
He gives daily updates on the Glenn Beck Boycott. The man has lost it. He used to have a great anti jihad blog, now he has become a jihad in his own right, or should i say, against anyone leaning to the right.

At the risk of unnecessarily inflaming passions, I do think this is emblematic of anyone who is not just neutral towards conservative Christianity, but the natural progression of the person who is opposed to Christianity. SO I AM CLEAR...People who are neutral or generally positive (but not believers themselves) towards Christianity do not seem to exhibit this behavior (e.g. Ace, Malor, Althouse, Insty, Buckley, etc.)
John Cole, Andrew Sullivan, and Charles Johnson amply demonstrate the idea behind Romans 1 (and no I DO NOT MEAN the sexual aspect of it) more just the idea that as you turn to hate God he really lets your mind sink into absurdity. The part of professing to be wise they became fools, I mean really, when you think of 3 people who just fell off their rocker royally you think of those 3 and they all have one thing in common, they hated God more than they loved genuine freedom (libertarian freedom), and so they are in the procees of well losing their minds.

I am thankful to Charles Johnson for giving me an online home for 2-3 years, for free. I met lots of great people, learnt much about many things I didn't know before, and had my viewpoint expanded to at least understand where (some, patriotic) liberals were coming from.
But that was before he decided that he hated social conservatives (and not just creationists) and despised libertarians as well.
To those Ace regulars who are getting frustrated that Ace doesn't ban trolls as diligently as he might: LGF is where the banhammer ultimately leads. You all might cheer if Ace gets rid of this bunch of truthers or that bunch of leftists. But eventually bannings and watching "meltdowns" become a sport in themselves. And you'll have to ask yourself - will it be YOU next time to get sliced?

Say it ain't so ... Could it be that Char-less, e.g. Chuckles? The unwaivering voice of holier than thou, dasher of truths, conservative snarking sniper at the parepet, Johanneson (name changed to protect the children) a.k.a. Little Green Footballs has:
Bitten the shark? Jumped the bullet? Walked the Juarez WeedEater? Crossed the Maginot Line? Awakend Wake Forest? Reeled in the last biscuit? Shoved the Last Shovel? Spent his last $60 on a Tijuana Mudpie?
Or has he simply lost his grip on reality?
It seems like the answer is not important, as long as the questions are interesting.

I am a little bit sad, though. His was the first blog I followed regularly - purely because of his reputation from Rathergate.

Hey! Don't make me flip your gun out of your hand after you come up real close to me and yak. I do that in every movie, natch.
Anyway, I have several markers I use in my movies to show that I'm a great actor. Here they are:
1) Holding a pistol sideways. 2) Quickly grabbing and breaking an opponent's limbs. 3) Getting my face all scrunched up when I'm really mad. 4) Wearing baggy "Indian" clothing in a futile attempt to conceal my weight gains. 5) Really, really "earthy" regional dialects.
And lastly, every actor should have a perfect character on screen. It builds confidence, and self-esteem. If only those bastards at the Academy Awards would finally give me my props...

all I can say to all of the above is, "well, duh"
welcome to a year and a half ago, ace (or more)
my take: johnson fancies himself as a hip, liberal (in the classic sense), intellectual guy and he became mainly known as a Muslim basher, fairly or not. So, he decided to rebrand himself. There's no quicker way for media types and lefty blogs to approve of you and write glowingly of you than to trash conservatives.
I think he also came to a pass that I'm sure Ace is familiar with (our site also fell into this trap when we started getting 250K pagehits a day)- diminishing returns on ad revenue and spiraling bandwidth costs. He does get a lot of hits, but I'll be good money he makes bupkis from all those hits. This explains why he's so quick on the ban trigger: when bandwidth costs are eating you up, you really get pissy about paying for the space for people to bash you. Plus, he may _want_ to lose some hits and thin out the pack. People start using your site as a giant chat program, and what the hell do you get for it? Plus, he got big enough and annoying enough to the left that they started the dirty pool of blaming his commenters' comments on him.
I'm explaining, but I don't defend him. I think he's a giant douchebag who basically posts like a troll, just trying to piss off other right-blogs because he despises them and thinks he's above everyone else. Ace took the bait this time, but Johnson's crap is very calculatedly outrageous and asinine. Now he'll post attacking AOSHQ and get mucho mileage out of that.
I hope he gets run over in his faggy bike shorts and someone cuts off his middle-aged pony tail as a souvenir.

A blog where the host gets criticized by his own readers?
Madness!
The only people more annoying than guys like Charles or Sullivan are their sycophantic followers. Being allowed to disagree is necessary to make the comment threads interesting and worth reading. It's one of the reasons why I come here. I cannot comprehend a person who actually enjoys going to LGF and reading 400 comments of "you're so awesome, everybody who disagrees with you sucks." Granted there are more popular positions than others here, but if I stuck in an atmosphere like Johnson's blog (even if Charles tilted rightward again), I'd damn near want to puke.
I second David Ross, this is one of the reasons to be wary of using the banhammer too much and I'd add this one of the reasons to be wary of registration.

You know, people keep giving credit to Charles Johnson for Rathergate. Sure, he posted about it on his blog, but so did plenty of other bloggers, including the gentlemen at Power Line, who I believe received Bloggers of the Year or something that year. Also, I don't believe Johnson did anything other than post what some of his commenters sent him. I believe that the one who actually discovered the memos as fakes was a commenter at FreeRepublic. Power Line and then LGF were the ones who then ran with the story.
But did Johnson come up with that flashing picture showing the fake memo on top of a 2004 typed up MS Word memo? No, I believe one of his or FreeRepublic's or Power Line's commenters came up with it and fed him the info to post.
So really, Johnson didn't do anything except pass on info on his blog fed to him by other people. He doesn't do any research on his own. Not like what the people at Sweetness and Light do (who researched TUCC and Rev Wright in JAN 2007, a full YEAR before anyone else bothered to post about it) or what the gentlemen at Power Line do.
No, Johnson simply finds articles, posts a couple lines of commentary, if that, and then posts the article. The commenters were the ones who did all the work.
What I am getting at is that if Johnson did not exist, someone else would have been able to push the fake TANG memos story. And actually, they did, since Power Line was on that story as much as, if not more then, Johnson.
The way I see it, Johnson is simply AllahPundit without having Michelle Malkin giving him his paycheck to keep him somewhat in line. I'd bet anyone that if AllahPundit were to leave HotAir, he'd be Johnson's sidekick in a second.

I don't believe Charles Johnson and Reality have ever had the pleasure of meeting each other. The child invents his own imagined reality like a frail soap bubble and then protects it by ostracizing those who threaten to pop it with facts. His liberal core forbids him from criticizing anyone who is black--Obama or Van Jones--for fear that the Kos Kids or his Californian or Hawiian liberal musician friends will cast him as a racist. Knowing the saga of LGF and the human trainwreck that is Charles Johnson leaves one with a sense of sadness, of pathetic tragedy. Or a sense that the prick is an self-absorbed, paranoid, obnoxious asshole with a thin skin.
If you aren't familiar with this infamous RINO, watch this for a brief primer:

Well my point was that ace was wrong in his "well to be fair Johnson never claimed to be conservative" stance. So he was giving him some of a pass. I don't think he deserves that pass because I think he had claimed at some point to be a conservative. It may be as someone mentioned his pushing for the site to win the best conservative blog award. Which would be in my opinion his claiming to be a conservative, thus nullifying ace's yeah but pass for him.

CJ's logic is twisted this way and that on this issue. He is sayng that truthers are liars, fair enough. So to believe them is a mortal sin.........
Alex Jones lies about many things, with regards to 9/11 "truth"
Bot the one thing he says that I take as irrefutable, gospel truth, is that he is a truther. I tend to believe him on that count.
As someone said at CJ's (before they in all likelyhood, got banned) Trutherism is almost a badge of honor with these people.

My take is that Johnson claimed to be a "conservative" in the same way that RINO Republicans claim to be "conservative" come campaign season: all bark, no bite.
He claimed to be a conservative for so long, because it was getting him famous. He was invited for TV interviews, getting lots more blog hits -- which was probably bringing him in money -- and he got on the PajamasMedia thing, which was more money. I think he hid his ideology in order to bring in the paycheck. But, it finally got too much for him, so he finally took off the mask and just revealed what he has always been: rabidly anti-religion, specifically anti-Christian, rabidly anti-social conservative and a far Left liberal.

So the sun finally sets on LGF. When Ace turns his back, that's a bad sign for the atheist God-hating God-botherer-hating bicyclist.
But, but, Charles Johnson of the tiny, tiny penis still has a friend in Dr. Glen "Pajamas" Media "Instapundit" Reynolds, right? So there's no real way he's gonna find himself flushed away. Doesn't he still own a good part of Pajamas Media? Anyone?
I get these Old Blogger Ghods mixed up sometimes. Allahpundit, fer'instance, I once thought was one of the Gleen's sockpuppets. And Patterico, he of the 'good man' nonsense, I had crossed up with the Balloon Juice fellow. Who once, I believe, rode a bicycle.

In early 2007, Johnson described the theory of global warming
as "the international left’s newest article of blind faith" based on
the documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle"; he also "recommends
Michael Crichton’s book State of Fear". By April 2009 he had rejected that documentary as "dishonest" and now supports that warming is anthropogenic.

That is the day I stopped reading HotAir as well. I'm sure you know why, as it was probably the same reason you stopped as well.
It had been a daily read. I made sure I read each and every post they made over there each day, passing on many in links on Facebook, passing on many in links in e-mail to friends/family and commenting on many of the threads when I had the time. No longer. July 3rd, after I came here in AoSHQ and commenters were talking about what crap they were spewing over there about Palin, that was the last straw for me. I was already getting fed up with the place based on Ed's squishiness and AllahPundit's condescending, bloghit-whoring prickitude (which I didn't even find out was worse than I realized until people started posting what he was saying on his Twitter account. Made me realize my instincts about his condescending prickitude were spot-on), so I had stopped commenting and reading comment threads and simply read the posts. But their behavior on July 3rd was it.
I go back there now and then when I see someone post a link to a good post by someone in the "Greenroom" or if someone here suggests a decent post there. But that's it. Now AoSHQ and Gateway Pundit are my main sources of info, along with American Thinker, Malkin, Power Line and Sweetness and Light along with listening to Rush and reading his show prep resources from his website.
I have had my vehement disagreements with Ace on things here, as well as some of his co-blog authors. But what keeps me here through all that are the amazing commenters here. Plus it seems that Ace isn't really a condescending prick like AllahPundit, he just gets that way when he's pissed off about people taking him to task. Or he's just better at hiding his prickitude until he gets angry. He's kinda like the Incredible Hulk. Better not make him angry! heh
Seriously, even when I vehemently disagree with Ace and some of his co-blog authors on some issues, I don't get the same vibe from them as I get from Johnson and AllahPundit. I think someone summarized it pretty well up-thread when talking about the atheists/agnostics who are 'moderate' on the whole religion/Christianity thing (ace and others here) and those like Johnson and AllahPundit who are not 'moderate' but have an actual hatred for God and religion and Christianity and take that and like to antagonize anyone who does not share their hatred. The people here, whether believers or not, at least show respect for religion and believers, even when not always in agreement.
Plus, in my experience, the commenters here are the best on the right-of-center blogosphere, bar none.

oooohh...Michelle Malkin finds this from nutroots nation last month -- Valerie Jarret, Obama's right hand mama
AboutContactArchivesRSSColumnsPhotos
Michelle Malkin
Lead Story
Van Jones, Valerie Jarrett, Barack Obama & do-it-yourself vetting
By Michelle Malkin • September 3, 2009 11:24 PM
Indefatigable blogger Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit dug up the 9/11 Truther record of Green Jobs czar Van Jones — and his research spread across talk radio, the Internet, and to the Glenn Beck show tonight.
A slew of bloggers, independent citizen journalists, and conservative activists have done the heavy lifting in exposing Jones’s inflammatory statements and radical ties over the last year — work that only conservative talk radio and Fox News have covered with due diligence. NakedEmperorNews/The BCast earlier today unearthed video of Jones ranting about Marxist “revolution” away from “gray capitalism”– also disseminated across Twitter, talk radio, and Fox News. The open-source “Army of Davids,” as blog pioneer Glenn Reynolds so aptly described it, is doing the job Obama didn’t want Congress to do.
Tonight, the White House is in full denial mode. ABC News reports:
A top environmental official of the Obama administration issued a statement Thursday apologizing for past incendiary statement and denying that he ever agreed with a 2004 petition on which his name appears, a petition calling for congressional hearings and an investigation by the New York Attorney General into “evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur.”
Van Jones, the Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is Number 46 of the petitioners from the so-called “Truther” movement which suggests that people in the administration of President George W. Bush “may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”
In a statement issued Thursday evening Jones said of “the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.”
He did not explain how his name came to be on the petition.
Maybe a unicorn, Van’s favorite mythical creature, put it there?
Allahpundit writes, “Note well: He doesn’t deny that he signed it. He denies that he agrees with it. Which means, I guess, that he’s asking us to create a new standard for public officials by which documents that bear their signature should no longer be used against them.”
And the Washington Times reports that the Truthers assert that no one’s name was put on their conspiratorial petition without his/her permission.
Here is the key — and it is highlights a leitmotif that runs through my czar, cabinet, and nominee withdrawal chapters of Culture of Corruption: Obama czardom is the deliberate end-run around transparency. Van Jones did not just accidentally slip through the cracks of the Obama vetters. They knew what he espoused before they installed him.
Take it from Obama’s own political godmother Michelle and Barack’s consigliere and Chicago powerbroker Valerie Jarrett took full credit at the nuttroots dKos blogger conference last month (August 15, 2009) for recruiting him and closely following his career:
JARRETT:. You guys know Van Jones? [Applause. Moderator injects: "This is his house apparently."]
JARRETT: Oooh. Van Jones, alright! So, Van Jones. We were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House. We were watching him, uh, really, he’s not that old, for as long as he’s been active out in Oakland. And all the creative ideas he has. And so now, we have captured that. And we have all that energy in the White House.

He's alright on some research. But I don't trust him at all on anything, especially after he was exposed as a prick on Twitter.
Also, back during the campaign, he was very reluctant to call out Obama as a radical and racist. He was falling for his BS too, despite all the evidence that had been gathered. It wasn't until Obama's 'race speech' that AllahPundit finally started to wake the hell up about the guy. But just like his stupid crush on Meghan McCain, he went out of his way to try to apologize for Obama's radicalism and try to debunk it -- all the while going full bore smearing Sarah Palin and anyone who liked her.
Also, all during the past 2 years or so, he has not hidden his utter disdain for Christianity and Christians. Over the past year, whenever his political analysis talent was not carrying him, he would simply bring out an atheist thread to whore for blog hits and comments. That and Sarah Palin or Rush bashing threads seemed to give him the Chris Matthews feeling. And he seems to really enjoy being a condescending prick to his readers.
But really, as I said, I don't trust him at all. I truly do believe that if he were let loose from Malkin's reigns, we would see the true unfiltered AllahPundit come out and he would be closer to Charles Johnson and LGF than Ace of Spades. I fully believe the he is toeing the Malkin party line on many issues due to her providing his paycheck. In many ways, I think he is in the same position now as Johnson was in a year or so ago... pretending to be Conservative in order to bring in the money.

324Also, all during the past 2 years or so, he has not hidden his utter disdain for Christianity and Christians.
the one that pissed me off the most was the blog on that "Ida" creature that supposedly was the missing link. He talked about celebrating w/ Charles Johnson, and treated the story as absolute theory for his atheist beliefs, yet no where on the blog (as was mentioned on this blog), did the point of all the doubts about "Ida" being the missing link were shown. So much for Ed, who claims to be a good christian, having the balls to fight back on that one. Don't forget, Allah likes to post on ED's blog postings too, poisoning them w/ his rhetoric. LGF gave you Zombie, past-tense. Zombie's getting attacked by some of the more prominent lizards over her claim to personal knowledge of Van Jones trutherism.
We'll see what happens to her.

My LGF account just got blocked from the Van Jones thread. I actually laughed when I noticed. It's sad, that CJ will defend Van Jones. He's implied that Van Jones was lied to by the truthers, therefore he's not at fault for signing the petition. He ignores that it's now politically convenient for Van Jones to not have those feelings anymore. He claims theWashington Times is lying when they say that Van Jones has apologized for signing the petition.
I like that someone who preaches that the Republican party needs to be a big tent party sure likes to boot people off of his blog.

My take:
A blog is not a democracy, it's a dictatorship (or sometimes an oligarchy) benevolent or otherwise.
My occasional contributions at LGF came to an end when the resident despot presumably (I haven't bothered to confirm) took exception to my suggestion that his pimping of climate change wasn't a lot different in character from the fact-free nonsense of the Discovery Institute, etc.
I think I've said before that Charles is more in the Chris Hitchens principled-liberal oeuvre. There's good and bad to that, one ill element is selective blindness regarding racism.

It's sad, really. LGF used to be one of my go-to sites for...well, many many things. It's where I first encountered folks who actually thought like I thought, and wrote well, and were unafraid to state a short question about their role in the future. Please state short question.
Goodbye to all that.

In my opinion, both AllahPundit and Ed completely unfairly smeared and attacked Sarah Palin over her decision to resign as Governor. I vehemently disagreed (BIG understatement) with Ace for doing the same thing that day with him taking a whole 10 seconds to come up with the brilliant political analysis "she's done".
Had Ace and his co-blog authors here been as much of a prick as AllahPundit has been over the past year+, I probably would have given up this site too. But, as I said before, they don't seem to be condescending pricks by nature, but simply get that way when they feel unfairly criticized. Plus, the commenters here are fantastic. And when I saw many of the commenters sharing my digust with ace's 10-second "analysis", I knew I could hang around in good company.
So, nothing BIG happened on July 3rd, it is just a memorable date, since it was the day Palin resigned, so easy to remember.
For me, the reason I left for good is that I just can't trust either of them -- AllahPundit or Ed -- anymore. I don't trust their integrity and I don't trust their devotion to standing up for conservatism. Lack of support for Sarah Palin is not the litmus test, it was just the last straw in a long line of things from those two where I lost respect for them.
I came here after a link from HotAir I think about 2 years ago or so. I immediately liked the place, because it was more SouthPark Conservative, in your face, no holds barred, no giving into PC crap style that I liked. Ed is too squishy for me and AllahPundit is a prick who I don't think cares for conservatism so much as he cares for whoring for blog hits. This place quickly became home, due to the bloggers and the commenters. As such, when the whole tsunami over Palin's resignation happened, it was easy to leave a place I was growing tired of anyway while hanging onto this place and cutting ace and co some slack for what I felt was being completely unfair to Palin, a politician who has so far given us absolutely no reason to fail to support her (has a history of integrity, being true to conservative principles, strong family life, reforming government, opposing corruption, success in getting things done in government which she sets out to do, standing up to the mass media and calling them out on their BS, fighting back against her opponents, etc... as opposed to everyone else we throw our support around who have no where near the solid conservative credentials, though stronger on experience, she has... Romney, Giuliani, Huckabee, McCain, Jindal... we bend over backwards to support them despite their many, many faults, yet some were sticking a knife into a politician who didn't have any of their faults, but resigned from a governorship for the benefit of her State. I just can't go to political war with people who are that lame and fickle.)

Geez, there are so many examples of AllahPundit pissing me off with his prickitude that I can't even nail it down to one that pissed me off the most. It was just a growing trend with him. And yeah, it's interesting how it's just hunky dorey for AllahPundit to attack Christians and Christianity there, but if anyone were to attack atheists or atheism, AllahPundit would use that to call Christians hypocrites. And Ed never would defend Christianity to AllahPundit either. I think that's part of his squishiness. That's why I liked Bryan Preston much better. I don't remember him taking AllahPundit's crap when it came to religion and Christianity. He at least had the sack to take on AllahPundit. Ed just won't defend himself.

So it is proven that zombie is a female? Last I was at LGF (which was 2006 or 2007 or so), Johnson was still keeping zombie's sex anonymous so as to protect the anonymity for the sake of infiltrating the protests and not give away the identity. I always suspected zombie was female though. Writing style and just some of the phrases used and comments made sometimes.
Zombie seems to be a social liberal and anti-religion as well, but seems to be 'moderate' about it and not antagonistic like Johnson and AllahPundit.

Also, in her reporting about the Science Czar, she admitted to being pro-'choice'.
She also has admitted that she was a big peace hippy in her pre-9/11 days and used to go to all the protests as a believer until after 9/11 she realized that the people going to these things were Communists and pro-terrorist and anti-America, things which she did not agree with at all. She had her eyes opened about the true motivations behind the movement and from then on became the 'zombie' we all know and love for infiltrating and exposing their protests.

Allah started out at HA much more mild mannered about everything, and because half the commenters were thick as bricks (humorless ones at that) he gave up. I watched the change.
Beck's not my cup of tea, either. Nor is Rush's show, largely because its about 50% ads or station breaks. It's funny how you guys are bashing allah on a thread about the righteous looney that CJ has become. I clearly recall AP receiving a few dozen threats to get him canned for daring to suggest that some particular conservative was acting in a way that would have bad long-term consequences. Intolerance and demands for absolute purity don't look any better on righties than lefties.
It doesn't matter, though and I don't care. It's the intertubes, and AP can handle his own shit. Though I have to say it's kinda sad, seeing LGF finally die. I had commented there from early 2002 to about 2005 or 6 (different bit similar nic), and then just stopped (shortly after registration). I wend back a few months ago to see what everyone was talking about with teh creationist jihad, and tried to comment, only to find out that my account had been shitcanned. I didn't even get the satisfaction of a banning. Oh, well.

LGF, what can one say, used to be I'd spend all day on a Saturday there, had some really great posters, really liked the posts on the Green helmet guy, the phonyness of the Jihadists. Probably the easiest blog to comment on, very well put together. I watched and read as CJ, slowly at first, and then with lightning speed, sank to a G-D hating hedonistic pos. Then the banning started, sometimes 10 a day. The coward would even delete the comment that got the ban

Madam ex, I think we can even guess the sort of event Zombie saw, thanks to topsecretk9 (the Zombie of AoSHQ, and I mean that as the highest praise).
The morning is given over to an interminable ersatz-Zen "cosmic Ommmm". Then, at noon, the lunch-n-greivance hour. At 1-3 PM, truthers have the floor - with an actual speech with a title and everything. They're also likely the only ones not baked off their skulls on dope. That culminates the scheduled speakers; what follows is the "peace gathering".
Zombie then, as casual observer, chalks up the "peace" event as a truther rally in disguise. The truthers had the main slot and the prepared speech; everyone else was going spoken-word poetry around drum circles, puppets, and bong hits.

I'm quite shocked after reading that posting about Van Jones over at LGF. Charles basically accused Zombie of not being reliable, and a number of lefties took that as a cue to attack Zombie. Nice, for all the work he/she has done over the years in exposing the left. I never thought I'd ever see the day when Zombie gets attacked on LGF.
Also, why does Charles have that up-ding/down-ding system? The reason I ask is that it seems as though if you down-ding anyone, you're instantly busted. If down-dinging is bad, why allow it as an option?

Yeah, Charles has become pretty creepy. I am betting that the little buttons he put in to rate posts and links are actually used to make it easier for him to find the people who need to be banned. Since he admits stalking people on other sites to see what they are saying about him he has created a system where people tell on themselves to make it easier. I bet he would install it for Ace if asked nicely.
CJ defended Sotomayor's racist comments and views as well. He bans people for off-color arguments or language but can't fnd anything wrong with Obama's racist cronies. The guy really has no principles other than his hatred of those he perceives to be ignorant --- but at the same time a lot of arguments go completely over his head and he ends up banning anyone smarter than he is. His blog self-selects for stupidity that way.
And yeah, who could have ever thought that Van Jones, an Obama supporter and supposedly former communist would fall for the 9/11 truther stuff. That would just be soooo out of character for someone bright enough to share Chuck's political views. It will be interesting to see how he handles two of his little hobby horses (hatred of truthers and love of Obama) jousting with each other.

Gateway Pundit found proof that Van Jones was a truther in 2002, two years before the petition that's being discussed was circulated.
As one (soon to be banned) poster at LGF observed:
But the important thing here is that Glenn Beck not be right about anything. That's the Holy Grail. Proceed accordingly.
CJ has become as bad as Kos or Arianna.

Kudos. Johnson has betrayed everything that he once stood for, or gave people the impression he stood for. He has fabricated claims about those he has betrayed and come to regard as his enemies out of thin air -- and was believed because of his stature among conservatives. He has finally completely obliterated that stature, more effectively than any of his former Leftist detractors could have done, except among his dwindling number of cultists.
I hope he's at least enjoying the money from whomever has paid him to sell out his principles and defame decent people. One problem is that his defamation stuck, especially when most people weren't aware of just how craven Johnson had become. I hope his former cultists who have left at a more recent date will reconsider the disinformation he fed them earlier, and wake up to how they have been had.

They went to Giana (sp?) and ended up drinking that Kool Aid to kill everybody. So, is Jones planning on using same Kool Aid on the local population too? I imagine he would probably like to, since White People are poisoning minorities.

This was part of Johnson's disinformation. No one was advocating alliances with neo-Nazis, and Johnson tarred many people and harmed their reputations by claiming otherwise. At issue was whether or not the European groups were actually neo-Nazi at all. Given Johnson's obviously scant affection for truth and accuracy in other areas, I would hope people would go back and reexamine his claims on this one. Pro-Israel neo-Nazis are a strange animal that don't actually exist in the real world, but Johnson put a number over on many, many people.

The evidence is out there for anyone to see. Anything Johnson claims, and anything I claim, or anything Pamela Geller claims, should be checked. Anyone who does that will find out that Johnson was the "mendacious" one. Frequently he put out highly tendentious claims based on half-truths or outright fabrications, and no one over there called him on it because they didn't even bother to check his claims for themselves.

One example is that he frequently claimed that Pamela Geller and I justified alliances with neo-Nazis on the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" principle. In fact, neither she nor I ever justified or advocated or supported alliances with any neo-Nazis, or racists, or fascists, or anything of the kind. I never subscribed to the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" principle, and actually have argued against it. I don't think she subscribes to it either.
But Goebbels-like, he repeated this so often that the "lizards" began to take it as axiomatic that it must have been what we were saying.

"We all make mistakes, but the facts about deWinter's and Vlaams
Belangs' anti-Semitic & white nationalistic roots and nature are
solid. I'll post the links if you wish."
Go ahead. But I am not disputing them. You know something else? Robert Byrd's KKK roots and nature is solid.
At issue in reality were 2 things:
1. Can an individual and a party change positions? Or is it forever and must always be what it once was? VB has been the only pro-Israel party in Flanders, and has suffered politically as a result. Is it all a ruse? I suppose it's remotely possible. But antisemitism is very popular in Europe, and not just among Muslim immigrants -- surveys show a rise in it among the native non-Muslim population as well. So you can't sustain the argument that they took this position cynically to gain votes.
2. Am I responsible for everything VB says and does, and ever has said and done, because I was once in a room with Filip Dewinter? Even if Filip Dewinter were the neo-fascist creep that Johnson claims he is, and everything Johnson said about him were true, what does that have to do with me or Pamela Geller?
I once spoke on the same bill with Hillary Clinton. Does that make me a Hillary supporter, or her an anti-jihadist? If Hillary is not forever tarred by association with me, or me with her, then why am I forever tarred by association with Filip Dewinter? I do not work with or support VB, or any other political party anywhere. My positions are the ones I have stated, not those that anyone else has stated. So what about the Hillary analogy? Why am I forever tarred, and Pamela as well, and others, because once Dewinter was present at an event where I spoke? I have asked this question repeatedly, and never gotten any answer from "lizards" or their master.

At one time, LGF was good at anti-jihad (now leaves that up to Zombie), anti-media falsehoods (Rathergate and various Lebanaon/Hizbollah fauxteaushop), but he's gone off the deep end, blaming Tea Parties on Ron Paul, attacking all town hall protesters as 'sceamers', doing a Captain Ahab on Glenn Beck, and basically focusing the rest of his attention on the Republican party, when the real danger to our country is the left. If he spent half as much time going after the left as he does the right, he'd balance out (though in his mind, he's thinking he is balanced...)

But one day I got this "WTF" moment when he posted something I thought was "out there" and after a few more such postings, just stopped coming back as often.
For example, I don't like his crusade against Beck. I am no giant Beck fan, but hey, obviously he doesn't watch Beck's show because about the only ad that runs there are Fox ads for its own shows and ads for Carbonite, the computer backup company. So all this crap of advertisers "dropping" Beck is pretty much bogus.

VB head Filip Dewinter has even demonstrated solidarity with the Jewish community and with Israel, especially since the creation of the AEL. This tactic was designed to attract part of the Antwerp Jewish vote during the campaign for the June 2004 regional elections.
Those bastards! Neo-Nazi filth! Politicians appealing to Jewish voters? Can the gas chambers be far behind? And it gets worse. The Velaams Belang

The Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Antisemitism and Racism, at Tel Aviv University noted the Vlaams Belang's tactical electoral switch to supporting Jews and Israel (by reigning in their Holocaust denial claims and voicing support for Israel) :
"Political Parties of the Extreme Right
Since its success in the 1991 legislative elections, the Vlaams Blok (VB; now Vlaams Belang − see below), which has been part of the far right surge in Europe in recent years, along with France's NF and Austria's FPÖ, has moderated its tone considerably on matters related to the Jews and the Holocaust (see ASW 2001/2); nevertheless, it still retains ties with small neo-fascist and antisemitic groups, such as Voorpost and Were Di. Moreover, VB head Filip Dewinter has even demonstrated solidarity with the Jewish community and with Israel, especially since the creation of the AEL. This tactic was designed to attract part of the Antwerp Jewish vote during the campaign for the June 2004 regional elections. Although the results of the election demonstrated that the vast majority of Antwerp Jewry was not convinced the VB had undergone a fundamental change, it increased its strength in the Flemish electorate and confirmed its status as the leading political party in the city of Antwerp, with 35 percent of the overall vote. The VB is also the main Flemish political party in the Brussels regional parliament, holding 6 out of the 11 seats held by Flemings. Despite its electoral success, the party is ostracized by all other political organizations. A cordon sanitaire imposed by Belgium’s mainstream parties is aimed at preventing the VB from becoming a governing party, whether on a federal, regional or local level."
The Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest − VB) succeeded the Vlaams Blok after the latter was forced to disband in 2004 following a Belgian court’s decision that it was racist and outside the bounds of legal public discourse see (ASW 2004). After toning down some of the Blok’s extremist anti-immigrant and Holocaust denial rhetoric, the VB won significant percentages of the vote in Flanders. Despite its demonstrations of solidarity with the Jewish community since the creation of the AEL and its more moderate tone in relation to the Holocaust and the Jews in general, the VB continues to retain ties with small neo-fascist and antisemitic groups, such as Voorpost, Were Di and the Vlaamse Militanten Orde (VMO). Besides being the leading political party in the city of Antwerp, having gained 35 percent of the overall vote in the 2004 elections, the VB is also the main Flemish political party in the Brussels regional parliament, with 6 out of the 11 seats held by Flemings. The VB is one of the founders of the Identity, Tradition and Sovereignty (ITS), a racist and antisemitic group formed in the European Parliament in January 2007. Other members include the French Front National and Romania's Greater Romania Party, among others."
Vlaams Belang's founders were Nazi sympathisers and collaborators. DeWinter has a long history of antisemitism - don't be fooled by his recent about-face. As recently as a few years ago he was still attending white nationalist conferences with attendees like David Duke, Stormfront members and the BNP leader and convicted antisemite Nick Griffin.
Many neo-Nazi groups around Europe have shifted their hateful focus from Jews to Muslims, correctly perceiving the latter's greater general unpopularity. In the UK, the BNP party has done the same, sensing the great electoral opportunity given the main parties' seeming reluctance to address the Islamist / immigration issue head-on.
There's a good article on the phenomenon of neo-Nazi parties such as the BNP & VB switching to voicing support for Israel here : http://tinyurl.com/dbrbgv
Several Vlaams Belang MP's (including the party leader deWinter) have given the 'heil hitler' raised arm salute when being sworn in to government. One of them was jailed for it. The most recent was in 2006. Do you really think they've switched from being neo-Nazis to 'Jew lovers' in that short a period?

The European neo-Nazi's still murder Jews like the Nazi's, and teach it as good. Does an oven have to be involved in the murder to make it 'bad'?

No, the occasional nutjob does. "like the Nazis"? There are camps? Bullshit. The Liberals and their muslim supporters are the danger. If you gave a shit about jews, you wouldn't focus on the puppies and ignore the wolves.
But, 70 something percent of American jews voted for the destruction of Israel. We can't save jews from themselves, and I'm not going to try. I support Israel. They will fight.

And I agree with others here: On specious grounds Chuckles has painted all conservatives except Frum as villians... so I distrust any of his assertions. That doesn't make everything he's said lately wrong, just less trustworthy than proclamations of Excitable Andy about Trig Palin's parentage.

I suppose it's possible Vlams Belang is everything Charles Johnson says it is. I don't really know. He would have a stronger case though, if he could show them burning books rather than buying and selling them at a book fair. Of course, if VB ever starts pimping Kindle, then I'll know they're evil.

What is that Odin's cross doing on his shelf at the end of the video, I asked myself? I know when I see it that is only used by two groups of people, Neo-Pagans and White Power groups. This is not an old clip, this is very recent.
Hah, hah, You can't turn around in Ireland without bumping into "Odins Cross". It must be a Nazi paradise.
This is the problem when people who know jack shit about another culture try to analyze it based on a few scraps of mistaken knowledge.
Your "Odins Cross", your supposed White Power symbol, is actually a Celtic Cross, a Christian symbol very common in Europe, especially among Catholics.

Yes. And don't forget Johnson's funeral photos of Dewinter with LePen (whose antisemitism he has explicitly repudiated). Dewinter and LePen were photographed together, therefore they're in complete agreement about everything, right?
Charles Johnson has apparently never been to a funeral. If he ever goes to one, he might be surprised to learn that people of differing political views sometimes show up at the same funeral, and can even be photographed together there.
Yet his moronic level of analysis caused immense damage to the reputations of numerous decent people and some noble warriors. Charles Johnson is a truly evil human being.

Jack, you can't have looked very hard. Perhaps start with the European Jewish Congress, or contact the US government - they also keep an eye on dangerous international elements.
By the way, one the 'siege heil' MP salutors was jailed for 3 months for his action, outright Nazi symbology being illegal there.
Johnathan E., is it too much for you to contemplate that I consider both Islamists and the Nazi groups in Europe as dangerous? Or are you just being a disingenuous fuck?
You seem unaware of the dynamic in Europe : Nazi groups are kept under the cosh of the law, as they should be, while Islamist groups have got away with murder under the covet of the policy of multicultural tolerance.
This has given the Nazi's growing support from the stupid, the dim-witted, the bigotted and those with short memories.
The VB and the BNP are Nazi political organisations waiting to be voted into power. Their hatred is intact - they'll set up the camps that you mention once they're in power.

You are an ignorant bigot who views the entire world through a Jewish prism. Velaams Belang are a Flemish separatist group. They are not Nazis or "White Power" people. They are remarkably similar to the Jewish nationalists in the years before WWII. You can't admit this because you view all nationalism (other than Jewish) as Nazism.

The phrase "anti-Semitic white nationalists" is redundant as used by you. You regard ALL European nationalisms as being "anti-Semitic" by definition.
You know, if you were equally critical of Jewish nationalism as you are of every other sort I'd still regard you as a moron. But I would not regard you as a comically hypocritical one.

Vlaams Belang aren't fringe - they recently got 15% of the vote, down from their peak in 2004 of 24%. I'd like to see both Nazis and Islamofascists defeated - it's really a simple concept.
flenser: You can't admit this because you view all nationalism (other than Jewish) as Nazism.
Nothing I've written supports your statement, or even hints at it.

I realize this is a little old by now, but Ace is getting pissed about Chas comments dominating threads so I'll keep this here.
One of the most admirable things about Johnson back in the day was, not his intellectual prowess (being some kinda hippie jazz freak and all) but his simple persistence in uncovering the pure bullshit espoused by Islamists or truthers or leftist intelligentsia, etc etc etc and basically keeping these jackoffs to a high standard. And of course it was fun watching them writhe, "I was taken out of context, that wasn't the petition I thought I was signing, I was tricked, it's all a lie, BAAWWWWWW!!!!!!" And Johnson was among the ones to keep up the heat simply by keeping the truth in the light of day.
But now...I don't know what, man. What happened to his standards? All these truther assholes are exposed and they give the same tired excuses. "I was taken out of context, that wasn't the petition I thought I was signing, I was tricked, it's all a lie, BAAWWWWWW!!!!!!" And suddenly, this is good enough for Johnson? "Oh, Truthers lie all the time, so we'll give these guys a pass." BUT THESE GUYS *ARE* TRUTHERS, YOU FUCKING IMBECILE!!!!!!!!!! This kind of piss poor excuse making wasn't good enough when he got up
Robert Spencer's ass for joining some fascist Facebook group, but
suddenly...Christ, it's not that these guys are doing a good job of pulling the wool over Johnson's eyes, it's that he's doing it to himself. And for what? So Johnson can sit from his little perch and lament the state of American politics? Piss or get off the pot, Johnson! Stop with your bullshit little act. You're not above it all and trying to be the intellectually curious moderate got old a long time ago. Take. A. God. Damn. Stand!
I used to read his site every day for years. Then he lost me when he came down against the Tea Parties. Until now, I would have just said that he went someplace else and I just couldn't agree with him any longer and left it at that. Now, the man has not a shred of integrity left. He is contemptable.

(sorry Ace, first post on your site, and I found this thread ... couldn't help it)
CJ banned me yesterday, for pointing out something obvious about the signage he was going on about. Today I found an example of what they said was there, but couldn't point to it.
I was going to post a thank you note to CJ, as it got me looking.
But I was banned so I couldn't post.
Hey CJ, I did find the [this time] in a poster, and yeah that is nuts.
Too bad I can't tell you to your face.
Have you ever thought that, I dunno, banning people you disagree with has a tendency to make your site an echo chamber?
I appear to be in good company, as you banned Carl in Jerusalem, Yid with a lid, and many other bright, witty, funny bloggers.
Hey CJ ... have a good long hard look around you, and note that lots of folks are kinda pissed at your antics right now.
You've done good work, in the past. Not sure whats going on now with you. If you ever do return to the concept of open discourse, even with people you vehemently disagree, I'd be happy to rejoin and keep the discussion lively. But banning people who hold no malice towards you and only focus upon having a good discussion?
Maybe not so good.
Since I can't send you an email, or post on your site, I'm posting on Ace's. Best of luck, and I hope all is and goes well by you. I can't see how the trajectory you are on can end any other way than badly for your site, but it is your site, you set the "rules" and we respect them, even if we disagree.
