Obama: Claim that ObamaCare Would Fund Abortions a "Fabrication" and (Wait... for... It...) a "Distraction"
Video Update: It Wasn't a Distraction When He Made Promises to Planned Parenthood in 2007

Let me be clear: As I have always said, any issue that I'm trying to vote present on is a distraction.

In a late Wednesday conference call with several left-wing faith groups that supported his presidential bid, President Barack Obama claimed it is a "fabrication" and "distraction" to say abortion funding is included in the health care reform plans pending in Congress.

He said it is false to suggest that the government-run health care plan he favors would result in "government funding of abortions," and that this is "untrue."

Several pro-life organizations were quick to pick up on the comments and expose how the health care bills could result in the greatest expansion of abortion funding since the 1970s.

"Obama deliberately misled the American people by dismissing the concerns of millions of Americans who have deep moral objections to their tax dollars paying for abortions," Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said. "With this President, you must look at his actions because his rhetoric doesn't match his deeds."

Perkins said Obama "knows very well that pro-abortion House and Senate Committees rejected every single amendment to keep abortion funding out of the health care overhaul."

"Instead, the House Energy and Commerce Committee adopted the Capps Amendment, which allows abortion coverage in the public health plan, and subsidizes health plans that cover abortion," he added.

Perkins told LifeNews.com if objections to the taxpayer-financed abortions in the health care bill are a "distraction" that Obama should end it by calling on Congress to amend the bills so they result in no abortion funding.

I wonder if Douglas Kmiec, a guy I frankly never heard of at all until, like Kathleen Parker, he started being hailed as an "important conservative voice supporting Obama," has second thoughts. He's always claiming, apparently, that Obama's kinda pro-life or something.

This is obvious, but it's one thing to expect pro-life people to tolerate a law that permits (and even encourages) a procedure they find morally repugnant and a kissing cousin of murder. It's a whole new level of arrogance to insist they also support this with their own money, making them unwilling partners in the abortion industry.

Obama has a thoughtful, nuanced, handsome answer to this: "I won."

Which part of the "I won" didn't you understand, the "I," the "won," or the implicit "die in a fire"?

Let Me Be Clear, As I Have Always Said, Abortion Funding is Not in My Health Care Plan, and, As I Have Also Always Said, Abortion Funding is "At the Center and Heart of" My Health Care Plan: In a question specifically about abortion funding, at Planned Parenthood, he says "reproductive care" which will provide "all essential services" is "at the center and heart" of his plan.

Thanks to Michael in MI.

24 I am waiting for the “press” to call Il Douche on at least some of these lies. Instead they are helping him spread them, including CNN making up their own lies.

The ideal press bulletin on this would be:

Obama says his health plan will not cover abortion. That encompasses several lies. First, Obama has no health plan. He turned over writing of the plan to congress and there are several out there. Second, ALL of the plans cover all general health procedures. There is NO written exception for abortion. Courts have already ruled that if it is not specifically ruled out, then it is covered.

Bottom line, Obama is a liar, but that is nothing new.

Obama will continue to be exposed like this. Why. Because he has made his goal to be trusted and liked by whatever group he is talking to at that time. So when in San Francisco, call people in the heartland "bitter, gun toting and Bible thumpers." When on national TV, talk about bipartisanship and there being one America.

His problem is that he only speaks english. But alas the media will never expose his duplicity.

This is why Uhbama spends so much time "campaigning"; he has to constantly run around covering up for stuff he said last week (which royally pissed off this or that special interest group) by saying the exact opposite stuff this week, which will in turn piss off other interest groups, etc.

Also note that whenever a politician says, "I've always said, and I've always been consistent on this...", that means he hasn't been. John Kerry used to do this a lot. If you're consistent, you don't need to keep telling everyone you're consistent

82 Scientific facts:

I finally accepted the scientific fact that it is not my brain abortionist suck out but a distinctly unique human being with its own distinctly unique human DNA.

Secondly, I finally accepted the scientific fact that it is never the woman's body which is aborted but a distinctly unique human being with its own distinctly unique human DNA

Lastly, I finally accepted the scientific fact that it is not my body being aborted especially when science indicates that at least half of those human beings with their own distinctly human DNA do not have a penis.

In other words, it is a scientific fact that when a distinctly unique human being with its own distinctly unique human DNA is aborted then the abortionist is killing a distinctly unique human beings with its own distinctly unique human DNA.

Of course, there is also a religious argument to be made however science does an excellent job making the same case.

So the next time women attempt to tell you its 'her body her choice', enlighten her to the scientific facts that, in fact, no, it is not her body being aborted..

Still, it's the best non-religious, pro-science argument concerning abortion.

89 This is just stupid strategizing on the part of the White House.

All Obama has to do to remove this issue is to loudly trumpet a provision in this 1000 page bill (that nobody is going to read anyway) that abortion won't be covered. . .

. . .knowing full well that like all these creeping socialist gov't programs, the deal can later be expanded , in this case to cover abortions.

ROFL!

And, um, abortion funding isn't mentioned in HR 3200, but it isn't prohibited either. In fact, there's no mention of it, most likely because it's a settled health-care "right" and we all have the "right" to the "right" of health care which includes abortion. Nuance!

I've had the same experience. I've since realized that it has nothing to do with "reproductive freedom" or any such thing. The abortion lovers fall into a couple groups. First - those who want to make sure they never have to live with the consequences of their sexual promiscuity. That's the most common group by far, since most male abortion supporters fall into that group. Second- feminist types who see control over thelife and death of children as power. They want to be the owners of children and the capacity to produce them. If they want to make abortion "rare" as the Clinton types have often stated, and they must have tax money as part of the equasion, then I have a suggestion - free irreversible sterilization for everyone who desires it - with a fast lane for anyone left of center. Oh - and make it a precondition of getting welfare checks.

Good analysis. After recalling some of my past experiences -- and then getting over the headache it gave me recalling some of their nonsense they spewed at me -- I'd completely agree with your breakdown. At least, that has been my experience. There may be some pro-abortion people who don't fall into those groups you mention, but I haven't come into contact with any of them. It's either been the "hands off my body", "keep your morals to yourself" or "children are a commodity, not a living thing" type response. The last of which, incidentally, I learned is a product of the Marxist ideology.

He does know that part of that "47 million uninsured people" are illegal aliens, right? I forgot, sorry, of course he knows, he's a partner with God on these matters of life and death. Therefor, he is deliberately lying. If he wants to claim that illegals are not covered, then he needs to change that 47 million number a 'wee wee' bit.

110 He does know that part of that "47 million uninsured people" are illegal aliens, right?

Well they aren't counted in the census, so the 47 million number still stands. If you want more accurate picture of the situation, consider how much you are paying for their visits to the emergency room (the most expensive place on the planet). But then again you'd have to pay a lot more for your oranges if they weren't in this country to work for pennies on the dollar.

Posted by: TJefferson at August 20, 2009 06:33 PM (ODBZJ)

111 TJefferson:
We are paying for their emergency room visits only because the law requires us to. Change the law so illegals are sent home to their own countries for medical treatment, and the problem is solved. We have plenty of people sitting in jails with nothing to do who could be used to pick our fruit and vegetables and they need be paid nothing at all.
There is no possible way we can continue to pay for illegal aliens without national bankruptcy, which we are already facing. Social security, medicare, and medicaid are already broke and are living on borrowed money only. Spending trillions of dollars on a government run socialized health care system will only make things worse.

You know, the core of this health care debate concerning "rationing" and "death panels" really stems from our abortion culture. There really is no difference in speaking callously about killing off the elderly than in speaking callously about abortion simply being a woman's "choice".

We are already a culture which places a value on certain life above others. Abortion is just that: placing the life of a pregnant woman above the life of a developing, yet-to-be-born child. We already are a culture which has accepted the idea that we can end life -- for any reason whatsoever, even just for "convenience" -- if we so choose. This attitude that life only has as much value as we decide it does has been taught since the 1970s. It is now 'conventional wisdom'. We are not a society and culture which respects the sanctity of life.

Knowing that, it really is not so much of a stretch to talk about "rationing" and "death panels". Afterall, we have been doing that "rationing" and women across the nation have served as "death panels" for hundreds of thousands of lives each and every year for the past 3 decades, when it has come to abortion. Now we are simply applying that practice to end of life care.

Really, if we want to use that logic, I can make a much better case for killing off the elderly as they have much less of a value to society as an unborn baby. An elderly person around 65 years old probably has, on average, about 10-20 more years to live. During that time, they will be nothing but a monetary drain on society, collecting social security, using the health care system for their probable later in life illnesses and maladies, etc, while not giving anything back in the case of working and income tax. Meanwhile, an unborn baby has its entire life ahead of it in order to give to the State.

I have to wonder how many people are outraged by the health care debate about "rationing" and "death panels", but also support abortion-on-demand and do not even realize that their support of such a practice is "rationing" and giving women across the country the power to be "death panels".

Take for instance the VA pamphlet which has been interpreted to basically convince soldiers that their lives are not worth living and they should accept that and accept dying. How is that any different than our culture which convinces women who get pregnant that the lives of their unborn babies are not worth living and they should kill them (get abortions)?

I remember the last election cycle when many were putting down Pro-Lifers, saying that we have to put that issue aside in order for the greater good. There were more important issues, we were told, like the economy and foreign policy and the Supreme Court. Well, here we are with one of THE most important pieces of legislation in our lifetimes coming before us, SOLELY based on the ideological belief that there is no sanctity of life, but life only has as much value as we decide it to have. And this goes back to the Pro-Life ideology.

This is why pro-lifers have been absolutely adamant and unwilling to budge on their stance, because we have known all along how important it is and how it is at the core of our country. If we as a society do not believe in the sanctity of life, then everything else can be compromised and our country will fall.

Sorry for the rant...
