| Awwww...White House Feels "Victimized."Is the widdle White House not getting what it wants? Awww...poor babies... Feeling victimized by misinformation spread virally through the Internet, the White House Thursday is launching its own "viral e-mail" for supporters to spread. With the subject line: "Something worth forwarding," the e-mail — from senior White House adviser David Axelrod — seeks to combat "the viral e-mails that fly unchecked and under the radar, spreading all sorts of lies and distortions" and invites Americans to "start a chain e-mail of our own." The e-mail outlines 24 points — eight ways the Democrats' health care reform measures will, in Axelrod's view, "provide security and stability to those with or without coverage," eight "common myths" about reform, and eight reasons why reform is an urgent matter.Huh. If the American people are actually "united" in their desire for healthcare reform, why is the White House having so much trouble creating actual grassroots support in favor of it? When David Axelrod is begging people to help an email go viral, you know they might be in danger of losing the debate. Oh, and remember those death panels? Yeah, might be time to start writing another email. Update - Thanks to Captain Hate, the text of the Axelrod email is below. Dear Friend, This is probably one of the longest emails I’ve ever sent, but it could be the most important. Across the country we are seeing vigorous debate about health insurance reform. Unfortunately, some of the old tactics we know so well are back — even the viral emails that fly unchecked and under the radar, spreading all sorts of lies and distortions. As President Obama said at the town hall in New Hampshire, “where we do disagree, let's disagree over things that are real, not these wild misrepresentations that bear no resemblance to anything that's actually been proposed.” So let’s start a chain email of our own. At the end of my email, you’ll find a lot of information about health insurance reform, distilled into 8 ways reform provides security and stability to those with or without coverage, 8 common myths about reform and 8 reasons we need health insurance reform now. Right now, someone you know probably has a question about reform that could be answered by what’s below. So what are you waiting for? Forward this email. Thanks,David David Axelrod Senior Adviser to the President P.S. We launched www.WhiteHouse.gov/realitycheck this week to knock down the rumors and lies that are floating around the internet. You can find the information below, and much more, there. For example, we've just added a video of Nancy-Ann DeParle from our Health Reform Office tackling a viral email head on. Check it out: 8 ways reform provides security and stability to those with or without coverage Ends Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions: Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical history. Ends Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays: Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses. Ends Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care: Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics. Ends Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill: Insurance companies will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage for those who become seriously ill. Ends Gender Discrimination: Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender. Ends Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage: Insurance companies will be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you receive. Extends Coverage for Young Adults: Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26. Guarantees Insurance Renewal: Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won't be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick. 8 common myths about health insurance reform Reform will stop "rationing" - not increase it: It’s a myth that reform will mean a "government takeover" of health care or lead to "rationing." To the contrary, reform will forbid many forms of rationing that are currently being used by insurance companies. We can’t afford reform: It's the status quo we can't afford. It’s a myth that reform will bust the budget. To the contrary, the President has identified ways to pay for the vast majority of the up-front costs by cutting waste, fraud, and abuse within existing government health programs; ending big subsidies to insurance companies; and increasing efficiency with such steps as coordinating care and streamlining paperwork. In the long term, reform can help bring down costs that will otherwise lead to a fiscal crisis. Reform would encourage "euthanasia": It does not. It’s a malicious myth that reform would encourage or even require euthanasia for seniors. For seniors who want to consult with their family and physicians about end-of life decisions, reform will help to cover these voluntary, private consultations for those who want help with these personal and difficult family decisions. Vets' health care is safe and sound: It’s a myth that health insurance reform will affect veterans' access to the care they get now. To the contrary, the President's budget significantly expands coverage under the VA, extending care to 500,000 more veterans who were previously excluded. The VA Healthcare system will continue to be available for all eligible veterans. Reform will benefit small business - not burden it: It’s a myth that health insurance reform will hurt small businesses. To the contrary, reform will ease the burdens on small businesses, provide tax credits to help them pay for employee coverage and help level the playing field with big firms who pay much less to cover their employees on average. Your Medicare is safe, and stronger with reform: It’s myth that Health Insurance Reform would be financed by cutting Medicare benefits. To the contrary, reform will improve the long-term financial health of Medicare, ensure better coordination, eliminate waste and unnecessary subsidies to insurance companies, and help to close the Medicare "doughnut" hole to make prescription drugs more affordable for seniors. You can keep your own insurance: It’s myth that reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors. To the contrary, reform will expand your choices, not eliminate them. No, government will not do anything with your bank account: It is an absurd myth that government will be in charge of your bank accounts. Health insurance reform will simplify administration, making it easier and more convenient for you to pay bills in a method that you choose. Just like paying a phone bill or a utility bill, you can pay by traditional check, or by a direct electronic payment. And forms will be standardized so they will be easier to understand. The choice is up to you – and the same rules of privacy will apply as they do for all other electronic payments that people make. --- Many of Axelrod's Comments1

This all doesn't mean squat unless Obama and the rest of the Dems pledge to put themselves, their families, and all government employees and their families on any plan they wish to foist on the rest of us, and unequivocally put that language in the bill itself. Just making it an "option" for any government employee is unacceptable if the plan is really as wonderful, efficient, and will save as much money as Obama and Axeldouche is saying it will. Obama and clan just have to be sure to never reveal their true intent. They even fucked up cash for clunkers! Clunkers’ Cash Buying Large, Not-So-Green Vehicles ;">But what LaHood and other administration officials usually don't mention is that some trucks and sport-utility vehicles that get less than 20 miles per gallon, like the Ford F-150 truck and one version of the Cadillac SRX Crossover, also are being purchased with the new government subsidies. Both are bulky vehicles weighing more than 6,000 pounds when loaded that boast at least 248 horsepower. ;"> ;">;">Just how many consumers used the federal rebates to buy these larger, not-so-green vehicles is unclear. The Obama administration has declined so far to release detailed records of purchases under the program being compiled by the Transportation Department, listing every clunker deal requesting rebates. The Associated Press requested the data July 31 ;"> ;">;">The Transportation Department distributes regular summaries of sales from the clunkers program and has used the electronic sales information from dealers to bolster arguments that Americans are dumping gas guzzlers for gas savers. But its failure to release detailed records means the public can't verify those claims. Posted by: momma at August 13, 2009 10:09 AM (penCf) 54

Posted by: Waterhouse at August 13, 2009 10:15 AM (mzeQC) 58
As pointed out above, if people are demanding this "reform," why is the White House so busy lying? President Obama misspoke and did not intend to mislead the public when he said AARP had endorsed his health care legislation pending in Congress, the White House said Wednesday. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters that Obama did not mean to misinform Americans when he said Tuesday at a town hall in Portsmouth, N.H., that the senior lobby had backed his legislation. "AARP has said they are certainly supportive and have been for years on comprehensive health reform," Gibbs said. "I don't think the president meant to imply anything untoward. I think he discussed the notion that AARP is supportive of legislation -- or, I'm sorry, an agreement that would -- that would fund filling the doughnut hole for seniors as part of Medicare Part D, as well as additional savings for comprehensive health care reform." Obama said at the town hall that "we have the AARP onboard because they know this is a good deal for our seniors." He added, "AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare." Posted by: Jay at August 13, 2009 10:15 AM (/ZX77) 59
Another story on this: President Obama today suggested that the health care reform legislation for which he’s pushing has been endorsed by the American Association of Retired Person. “We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors,” the president said. At another point he said: “Well, first of all, another myth that we've been hearing about is this notion that somehow we're going to be cutting your Medicare benefits. We are not. AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?” The problem? The AARP hasn't endorsed any plan yet. The country's largest advocacy group for Americans over 50 issued a statement after the event saying, "While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate." How much will my health insurance rate go up if Obama adds all those rules? If everyone with major health problems is thrown in my cost pool, my rates would probably triple, at least.
I admit I'd like to know my insurance company can't just skyrocket my rates once I have a significant claim, especially since I've been paying in for years with no claims. Perhaps some compromise will be necessary, but total care to everyone also seems unworkable. The less you pay in, the more you are rationed? They don't get it. A viral video is viral because it has a life of its own. You can't create a viral video anymore than you can create an interest in a particular idea or candidate. Either the idea has legs or it doesn't. Either the candidate gets people excited or he doesn't. Saying it's exciting doesn't make it so. Saying it's popular doesn't make it so. This just shows tha they're losing the argument and badly to boot. They're posting counter-arguments to a bill that according to them doesn't yet exist, so what gives. The details of this monstrosity will be the thing that kills it. The details that Axelrod mentions spell doom for insurance carriers (i.e. no lifetime caps, no deductibles, no gender based price differences (only women can get pregnant), no preexisting condtion exclusions) unless they vastly increase premiums - by like a factor of 5.
This is all, of course to drive you to the "free" public option because of the enormous cost to you and your employer. In fact, the debate can be summed up by asking the POTUS or your congressman "if under Obamacare, my health premiums increase by 2-3x (due to the "reforms"), why would I (or my employer - remember they pay about 50% or the gross premium) NOT be forced onto the public plan due to the high cost of individual insurance". That's the plan folks, plain and simple - make individual insurance impossibly expensive via "reforms" so that by default the vast majority of those with individual policies go to the public option. Axlerod says as mush in his email. Posted by: volfan at August 13, 2009 10:44 AM (UgwJZ) 102

Just one point that strikes me. I know many retired career military personel who were told that they would have full medical coverage for life if they spent enough time in their branch of service. That promise has not been honored. Retirees are being charged for medical care on the grounds of budget issues. When they are able to use military medical facilities, they often have 6 month wait times for appointments. Lessons: 1-Your government will not keep it's promises. 2- Government medical facilities ration care.
That should just about cover the whole debate.

The lack of actual information in that Email is almost surprising. It's all platitudes. The only concrete policy proposals I can see are the first 8 bullet points and I don't see a single one that seems as if it's intended to help insurance companies lower costs to provide cheaper coverage. Every single one sounds to me like it will force an insurance company to charge more if they hope to make a profit. Ending co-pays? Forcing any company to insure any individual regardless of their past and current medical problems? Absurd.
Just imagine that your medical insurance is like your car insurance. The government wants to force a company to insure everyone who asks, regardless or their driving record or how many people they have run down while blind drunk, and they have to do it "fairly", they can't charge drunks more than they charge everyone else. What do you think will happen to everyones costs?
As for all the "MYTHS" that it is supposed to debunk, it offers no actual, you know, ideas about where all of this supposed "waste and inefficiencies" are that will save money and lower costs.

8 ways reform provides security and stability to those without coverage and screws those who are perfectly happy with their coverage. Ends Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions: Insurance companies
will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical
history until they go broke and Uncle Sam takes over with single-payer coverage. Ends Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays:
Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they
can charge for out-of-pocket expenses furthering their demise and the socialist system Obama really wants. Ends Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care: Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as medical marijuana (wink, wink), acupuncture, organic foods, horoscopes, palm readings, and community organizer training. Ends Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill: Insurance companies
will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage
for those who become seriously ill and need to take inexpensive pain pills until you drop dead, Sucka. Ends Gender Discrimination: Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender because the government is going to tax the crap out of everyone, regardless of gender, age, race, nationality, union membership, or political affiliation to pay for this shitty plan. Ends Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage: Insurance companies will
be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you
receive because your lifetimes will be seriously shortened by Ezekial Emmanuel's death panels. Extends Coverage for Young Adults: Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26 so free-loading, Obama-voting little bastards can live in Mom's basement sending troll posts to Ace of Spades HQ longer. Guarantees Insurance Renewal: Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won't be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick and cannot get in to see the doctor because the waiting period is 18 months or longer. Does anyone, and I mean anyone, at the White House understand basic economics 101? Some of these so called talking points are utterly bullshit. For example: Extends Coverage for Young Adults: Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26. The age group of 18-26 is generally the healthiest and, for the most part, when given a choice, opts to either not have insurance or only elects to take catastrophic coverage. Basically, they are going to ding Mom and Dad (that is you) for premiums that there is no reasonable chance of return on. I would much rather take the money I would pay for extending coverage to my young adults and invest it in something with a greater chance of return, if nothing else, a low paying but secure bank CD. And more importantly, as the father of a 16, 13 and 10 year old, at what point in time can I just tell my offspring, I have done my job, you have been raised, now get out of the nest and go establish your own life? Ends Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care: Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics. So, we are now encouraging people who otherwise have very little need for an exam. If I have to pay for an exam, I will probably wait for either a problem to arise or when I hit a certain age (at 25, I am not getting a prostrate exam...at 50, I probably will). So, while deriding uncessary test, "The One" is now actually encouraging more needless test. And how much is a normal co-pay for a routine phyical. I do not have a cadillac plan, but my annual check-up sets me back $20 a year. Have we gotten to the point where damn, if I do not get it for free, I ain't doing it. OK, no big deal 40 million uninsured people. They never get sick. Right. So what if they do? They go to the ER where nice right wing folks like yourselves take care of them. ER healthcare is expensive shouldn't be used as a primary or secondary healthcare delivery system. What's your solution? Oh that's right, you don't have one. Your smug little shits who belittle the holocaust by comparing IT to obamacare. Is life expentancy an indicator of good healthcare? Canada being the prime example of what is bad about universal healtcare beats the USA. Look it up. Maybe your kneejerk to obamacare is warranted but then again maybe it is the same old tired bs that people have grown tired over.
