Noble Race-Blind Professor Agrees to Have Beer With Corrupt, Racist Cop

Thus keeping that "national discussion on race"-- you know, the one we're supposed to have whenever Obama steps in it race-wise -- quiet and private.

The way national discussions on race are supposed to be.

Gates is doin' a solid for Obama by helping to make this go away.

Opening small-talk? "Yeah, you know who I am now, don't you, racist? Your mama sure knows who I am."

I can't think of anything more likely to result in peace and harmony than feeding alcohol to the extremely angry and brittle Professor Gates.

Don't Expect Gates to Pick Up the Tab. Dan Riehl notes that Gates' "charity" seems quite stingy.

Thank to Dan F. for that.

Who's the Racist? Gates sure seemed to rely on age-old stereotypes to fuel his anger, didn't he?

Maybe he would benefit from a tolerance/diversity awareness workshop?

4 Hate to say it, but B to the O has regrouped well on this. If the Sgt turns down the offer, he's a biggot and a racist. If he goes and has crumpets and tea with the Messiah and the Prog, he will be under intense pressure to go ahead and apologize. If he doesn't, he's a biggot and a racist. If he apologizes, he's a biggot and racist who gave an apology that he didn't want to give.

What a biggot and racist.

Crowley did nothing wrong. There's no good reason for 'both sides' to 'bury the hatchet'.

38 Sgt Crowley will be briefed by Rahmbo and Assholerod, where he'll be told he's to smile widely while holding up the beer for the cameras. He will then be told to read from the prepared statement written by Assholerod.

He'll be told that if he doesn't back down, there is a dossier on him that will be fed to operatives in the "watchdog media" who will give him the full Palin/JTP/Carrie Prejean treatment.

Obama will then announce that government for far too long has ignored the unfair profiling of minorities and he's proud to appoint Prof Gates to be his "Police and Community Relations Czar"

However, with King Barry's numbers taking a dive, perhaps he should reconsider his zeal to use a cop as a whipping boy, especially since he might not want to give Blue Dogs something else to fend off from angy consituents

39 Patterico is right. But he doesnt go far enough. GOP needs to step up and push this issue it depends on the GOP stepping up their game and doing some
truth telling, immediately - but there is noone minding the store at
the GOP right now, and Obama will continue to dominate national
politics until nov 2010 at earliest..

Obama clearly is biased against police officers - he made a
statement that they "acted stupidly" while admittedly not having
knowledge of the facts other than what he wanted to hear - that a white
cop had arrested a black harvard professor friend of his. That's all
Obama needed to condemn the white cop - why is this, why does Obama
reflexively state that the white cop is stupid and imply the white cop
is a racial profiler?

1. Jeremiah Wright - Wright has given literally 100's of talks about
evil white cops and their negative effects on the vulnerable black
population over the past three decades. Obama has listened intently to
two decades of this.

2. Bill Ayers - Close associate of Obama's, lived in his
neighborhood, babysat Obama's kids (the wife of Ayers did) and helped
Obama on his original signature work - "Dreams of my Father", and of
course, worked with Obama closely on two separate large non profit
leftist organizations. Bill Ayers really hates the white cops - he
bombed them, often, literally, including the NYPD.

3. Frank Marshall Davis - an admitted Communist who was a large
influence on young Obama in Hawaii, as outlined in Obama's book. Davis
tried and partially succeeded in making the Hawaii NAACP a communist
organization, and of course Davis hated white cops.

What do these three men have in common?

a. They all hate white cops with a passion;

b. They all spent many years in close association with Barack Hussein Obama.

41 Before Obama was inaugurated, I predicted that the whole race thing would be taken to a whole new level. That was pretty obvious. The danger for race relations in the States is that if you call white people racist enough times, they will begin to think it is useless to defend yourself against the charge. Once you accept that you can't win that fight, more people will become racists.
For most of my adult life, I have not seen much racism on the part of whites. I have seen a lot of black people who are extremely racist.

I think that some serious investigation of the public life, actions and statements of Gates is in order, and quickly.
His charity seems to have paperwork problems and looks to be behind in its taxes. Some poking around might reveal some serious irregularities. I wonder if he thought the State or IRS were there to seize or at least look at his bank and charity records. Popping this pimple will probably spray all over Gates and friends.
Then there’s Gates’ grasp of English Lit. He’s incorrectly attributed words to Shakespeare, a mistake that a competent E. Lit. prof would not make. There are probably other examples that should prove most embarrassing. There are probably mire than a few students with stories to tell.
.Enough exposure will probably take a lot of volume off of Gates’ mouth.

In the letter, the Naval commander provides several examples of alleged harassment by Rosenberg, some of which he says made reference to his sexual orientation.
On one occasion, Gordon writes, Rosenberg berated him in front of another journalist about why Sept. 11 codefendant Mustafa al Hawsawi was sitting on a pillow in court.
"Have you ever had a red hot poker shoved up your a—?" Gordon claims Rosenberg asked. "Have you ever had a broomstick shoved up your a—? ... Have you ever had anything in your a—? How would you know how it feels if it never happened to you? Admit it, you liked it."

Gates: I would love for him to look me in the eye and say ‘Professor Gates, I am sorry. I am sorry for the way I treated you. I am sorry for the fabrications I..I had to put in that report. And if he’s sincere, I would forgive him as a human being.

Crist's office sent a letter thanking John Ubele for providing the governor with a copy of the film "Jud Suss." The film is recognized as one of history's most incendiary.
The brief thank-you note was dated June 30 and bore the governor's automated signature. It praised the Pasco County resident's thoughtfulness and generosity and said Crist would be delighted to share the DVD with the people of Florida.
Crist later called it "an inexcusable mistake by staff in my office," in a letter released just before 9 p.m. that was addressed to Ubele's work address in St. Petersburg.
"Neither I or anyone in this administration agree with or condone the anti-Semitic content of this DVD," Crist wrote in a second letter that also carried his automated signature.

79 Pelosi also weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Junior, calling it “an unfortunate incident.”She said, “With all due respect to the police officer involved, and the professor, who was affected by it, it didn’t turn out the way it should have.”
Pelosi also refused to be critical of President Obama who initially said during a primetime press conference Wednesday that the police who arrested Gates had “acted stupidly.”
“I think that the president of the United States has great respect for those who — public safety is our first responsibility as elected officials, public safety and the national security of our country,” Pelosi said of Obama. “Nobody carries that burden greater — in a greater way than the president of the United States,” the Speaker added.

80 Ah, but the chessmaster must see the game before it evolves.
The meeting (Obama claims that Crowley suggested it) will take place behind closed doors. Gates (who said he will attend butannounced he doesn't drink beer -- level 10 prickishness, there) probably figures that he and Obama will browbeat Jim the Cop until he sobs.
Crowley, almost surely very liberal, may simply accede to every assertion of institutional and historical racism but will not back down on this particular event. For many reasons, he cannot admit he was wrong. First, that he was not and second that it would invite a fecal hurricane on him and the department. In addition, the Cambridge police have audio of the end of the confrontation. Crowley was aware of this at the time, Gates was not. I cannot imagine it would do anything but make Gates look quite awful.
Obama will come out of the meeting, calling it productive and using some focus-group tested platitudes on how to get past the racial divide.
Crowley will come out of the meeting talking about historical discrimination, the importance of racial sensitivity but asserting that he did not deviate from procedure. He will not bad-mouth Gates specifically but will defend himself.
Obama's friend Gates will come out of the meeting angry, racist and foolish.
Gates is the can of worms, here. As we saw with Ward Churchill, these kinds of "scholars" make their living being more outrageous than the last. Gates cannot fold or do anything reasonable. He cannot back down. He will be the problem.
Fear not, young padawan. There are more acts to play in this farce.

81 my unfortunate experience will only have a larger meaning if we can all
use this to diminish racial profiling and to enhance fairness and
equity in the criminal justice system for poor people and for people of
color. Wow. Complete BS.

First, there is a place where everyone agreed with President Obama when he said the police acted stupidly. Trinity United Church of Christ. I am sure there was a cheer when Barrack was finally being real.

Second Crowley would be acting stupidly to submit himself to the perversity of a staged photo-op with the men who tried to destroy him. I have not seen a true apology by either man. Just the lame I am sorry you took it that way meme.

Crowley should say I am sorry to decline this invitation but my only goal then and now is to serve the public quietly with dignity and honor, nothing else.

ZST, @80 115, is on to something. It depends on Sgt. Crowley; does he have enough facts marshaled on his side and ready to use, and will he stand up for himself?
Gates will likely dominate the conversation, but that's ok. A few well-placed comments, on how it was the American Civik War that ended slavery and made the later Civil Rights Struggle posible, is all that's necessary.
Perhaps a comparison to the behavior of the Cambridge Police to the police of Robert Mugabe, Idi Amin, Charles Taylor, or a host of other African big men over the post-Colonial period will drive the point home.
Gates is, from his behavior, essentially another Al Sharpton. If Obama does not seriously control him, Gates will do major damage to Obama.
If, every time Gates tries to lecture Crowley, Crowley reminds Gates about the American Civil War, Truman integrating the Armed Forces, The Voting Rights Act, Affirmative Action, etc, etc., and how no other culture in history has considered doing such things, Gates will likely lose it, and the Secret Service will have to step in.
Endgame, @117, is close to having the right idea. Crowley, when leaving the meeting and asked for comment, needs to truthfully recap the highlights. Mention how Gates was shown the errors of his ways and historical knowledge, and that everything’s cool now, leading people to believe that Gates apologized.

142 AP sides 100% with Obama/Gates

By CHARLES BABINGTON, Associated Press Writer Charles Babington, Associated Press Writer

SatJul25, 3:58pmET

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's
summary of the furor over a black Harvard professor's arrest was so
understated, and perhaps obvious, that it barely rose above the
cable-news driven din.

"Race is still a
troubling aspect of our society," the nation's first black president
said Friday, as he tried to tamp down a controversy he had helped fuel
two days earlier.

Without doubt.

What's
less clear, however, is whether Obama's history-making election is
triggering changes in the day-to-day racial interactions of ordinary
Americans. After all, if one of the country's most prominent black
scholars can be arrested in his home after a heated exchange with a
white police officer, doesn't that suggest Obama's racial breakthroughs
apply more to the political world than to the broader society?

other words, as a practicing lawyer in Chicago, he allowed these
tickets and penalties to remain unpaid; as an Illinois state senator he
allowed these tickets and fines to remain unpaid; and as a United
States senator he allowed these almost-two-decade-old signs of his
disdain for the law to remain unpaid," commented John LeBoutillier on
Newsmax.com.The Washington Post said two years ago that the tickets included parking without a proper permit and parking in a bus stop. The
Associated Press reported in 2007 that Obama's "healthy stack" of
parking tickets was finally paid, including late fees, "two weeks
before he officially launched his presidential campaign."

Besides the chance to traffic in race, perpetuate his manufactured
grievance, and play up a gimme question (in his government run health
care debate "press conference"), Obama had a chance to take down a
police department that had the temerity to impose rules on him when he
wasn't quite the VIP he is now. Fortunately for the nation, it
backfired; but I have no doubts that Obama had unfinished resentments
and a desire to pay back "the man" for doing him wrong. Obama is as
much a race healer as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, as much a law
respecter as Alinsky.

Ace, could you kindly put up a countdown clock for November 6, 2012 so that we may count the nanoseconds until this debacle of a "leader" is gone?

157 Repeatedly we hear how black people have to be careful around cops.
You have to be careful around groups of blacks, especially if you're white. You can call me a racist all you want, but we all know it's true. Even Jesse Jackson said it.
I'm not as worried about groups of thugs (of any color, as thugs of all colors tend to form groups) as long as concealed carry is on the books. Sure, I might die, but I'll take a few of them with me. What? You thought you would live forever.

160 can I ask you guys/gals a question sincerely? And I ask this as a former democrat, I still believe in some democrat ideas.. but I am a conversative democrat.. very conservative when it comes to financial policies and national security policies....and moderate when it comes to social issues..
Was the media bias agn conservative people/ideas this bad over the the past decade? I don't ever remember the media being so blantant in their bias.. for example, the hacket job interview with Palin that was done on CNN, just recently.. the article where it says "Consgressmen so-and-so (<b>R</b>-SC), a blue dog <b>democrat</b>", I don't ever remember it being so blatant.. it almost like the american media has declared war on the american people.. they lie, misled .. all to protect their product.. the fraud...
I started listening to Mark Levin and even Rush (huge huge gasp!!)... and they make so much sense. I finally bought "Liberty and Tyranny" today on amazon...
I think Obama is sooo radical that people are realising, even lifelong dems like me who have now left the party, that his ideas are not american.. healthcare that rations.. energy polices that hurt american companies.. who does crap like this? its almost like he wants America to hobble and not succeed...
and finally.. yesterday.. when he made that statement.. "victory is not our goal in afghan."... why didn't the reporter ask him.. "so what is our goal... DEFEAT"?... if we are not there to win.. why are we there..why are families sending their loved onesinto harm's way??!!? how can this man.. the CIC say such an incredibly irresponsible, ignortant and assisine statement. He is readily admitting he wants America to fail!
Sorry for the rant.... but I am very afraid for this great country.. very afraid. I have called so many times to the repub congresspeople to voice my support.. I have called so many of these assisine dems to yell at them.. they don't listen....these people are some of the most ignorant people I have ever seen.

It was always there, but never this bad; they usually did a better job pretending to be "unbiased". But this election, sheesh, they lost any sense of shame. Easy, too. Just say that to appear in such a setting/situation would only undermine my long-standing efforts and determination to remain completely race-blind and neutral, as advocated by Martin Luther King. The last thing I want to do is start thinking politically about people's skin color.

200 Now Biden is starting shit with the Russians - and the Russians are funny back.

The Kremlin is pushing back hard against Biden's interview
with the Wall Street Journal today, where he introduced a dramatically
harsher tone to U.S.-Russian relations than those made by Obama in his
summit meeting earlier this month, where the president called for a
"reset" in relations between the two nations.

Biden, just back from a trip to Georgia and the Ukraine, said that
Russian leaders are "clinging to something in the past," and dismissed
Russia's claim to a sphere of influence extending to neighboring
countries. “It’s a very difficult thing to deal with, loss of empire,”
said Biden.

Sergei Prikhodko, the chief foreign policy adviser to President Medvedev, shot back: “The question is: who is shaping the U.S. foreign policy, the president or respectable members of his team?”

It wasn't immediately clear if Biden's aggressive, and extended,
comments represented a broader change of U.S. tone or policy, and the
White House hasn't offered any comment on the interview. (4:19 p.m.)

205 johnc -- ex-democrat,

That's a tricky question. My inclination is to believe it is as bad now as it has ever been. Legacy media hated Reagan (who really appealed to conservative D's) if you recall, but even Reagan never experienced the vulgar, vitriolic smears that Palin, for example, did. Their attacks on her were/are the pinnacle of offensiveness and a marker for just how far down the institution has fallen. I've pretty much dismissed legacy news media sources now -- I've gone conservasphere -- because the one-sided bias has become intolerable and and transparent.

On the other hand, I also believe the industry has always been quite deeply biased and unfair, bordering propagandist Left, for decades. The difference? The filters were inherently in agreement in form, function, and education. The "narrative" of Left=good, Right=bad was the default for everything, the prism by which correcting the vision of the world had to be directed. Talk radio, cable TV (and by cable, I mean essentially exclusively Rupert Murdoch media), and the internet have redefined the battlefield in the war of ideas. There exists an alternate POV and an avenue by which the previously excluded can unite, express, and expose that which hadn't been allowed before.

I think the legacy media is only now so overtly biased because a) those who didn't have a voice can now remark upon such bias, and b) because the legacy media must fight harder in view of opposing voices in hopes of shouting down those getting uppity. Subtlety doesn't work like it used to because there's now some real competition and not merely the veneer of it.

lets see.. the hate crimes bill.. from what I understand.. there is language in there that is too liberal to make it a hate crime to talk bad agn religions.. I have an issue with this.. people talk bad about christianity and islam.. I don't want this to be a crime.. I mean.. if people speak out agn sharia law.. will this be made into a crime? I do not agree with this! this law would trample on the first amendent, at least in my opinion.
as for the dem. ideas.. I gotta say these nuts have taken dem. ideas to a whole new level .. too too radical... but one dem. idea I like (it was done under Bill clinton).. is having legilation that provides a way to leave welfare and work.. rather than having them stay on welfare.. when this was done under BC, I know many many many people came off from welfare... of course Obama has now overturned this.. so more people will go back onto welfare..
I don't believe in giving people a hand out..but a hand up.. I think a society to succeed has to have more productive people adding to that society.. not just people who draw from it.. this type of society cannot last.. that's what happenedn to California over the years.

245 Repeatedly we hear how black people have to be careful around cops.
Sadly, it's true. I know of a few of my friends who have been pulled over simply for DWB. Most recently, a close friend I served with is an aircraft mechanic at Kennedy Space Center and got pulled over by Melbourne cops because he was towing his new boat trailer home. When he produced ID and title, the cops let him go. The trailer had a plate. No other reason was given for the pullover.
However, this case (Gates and Crowley) was not about profiling. Not even close.

be excused to a point for being a biased left-wing broadcaster because
America was as a whole more left-wing at the time. What do you think
of that?"

When I discovered Cronkite's "contribution" to the Vietnam War, I pretty much discounted anything he said. Unforgivable and an outright exposé of who he was. That being said, do I think the nation was more Left-leaning in the day? Don't know. That was really before my time or beyond my capacity to assimilate all of the sociopolitical factors in play. I guess I would not accept the premise that the nation was more Left-leaning because it was the Left-leaners who defined the politics. I mean, they controlled the message. Like in war, the victors get to define history. I don't subscribe to the default that the history that was written is necessarily valid. This is still a conservative-Right nation though we have been drifting Left since the Civil War if not earlier.

Nevertheless, I don't think we should rationalize for those who presented dishonest reportage or accept that it was the devil that made him do it. There are principles and disciplines involved in being professional. Real journalism demands an honest depiction of facts, to hell with which way the wind is blowing during any given period. It wasn't Cronkite's job to add to the storm or direct critical sunlight selectively on his ideological opposites.

His epitaph for me reads something along the lines of "Here lies (pun possibly intended) a man who reported what he thought, not what was. And that's the way it was."

Are lobbyists silver lining in health care storm?

By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Writer Ricardo Alonso-zaldivar, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – A strong force, perhaps as powerful in Congress as President Barack Obama, is keeping the drive for health care going even as lawmakers seem hopelessly at odds.

Lobbyists.

The drug industry, the American Medical Association,
hospital groups and the insurance lobby are all saying Congress must
make major changes this year. Television ads paid for by drug companies
and insurers continued to emphasize the benefits of a health care
overhaul — not the groups' objections to some of the proposals.

Gates' Daughter Calls Cop Uncooperative
Speaking on "The Early Show" Friday, Elizabeth Gates and Cambridge Mayor Denise Simmons, who is also black, talked about the possibility of bringing Gates and Crowley together to settle their differences. Simmons said she has received a "positive response" from Gates, but has yet to hear back from Crowley. To which Elizabeth Gates said: "I don't think the officer is being at all cooperative."
"I think he needs to maybe extend his sensitivity training," Elizabeth Gates said of Crowley, and stressed the importance of the officer sitting down with her father. "If it's left as is, we're going to rely on our preconceived notions of race."

http://tinyurl.com/mzs5az

The hefty 2009 pay package of Andrew J. Hall, leader of Citigroup Inc.'s lucrative Phibro energy trading unit, may spark a showdown between the New York-based bank and government pay czar Kenneth Feinberg.
Hall's division generates a substantial chunk of Citigroup's profit, which the bank sorely needs to get back on its feet and eventually repay the $45 billion it has received in government aid. Under the terms of his contract, Hall's compensation is linked to Phibro's profits, but the size of his 2009 pay package, which The Wall Street Journal estimated Saturday may total $100 million, could fuel political and shareholder anger against Citi.

yes.. I there was a time when a good chunk of dems were conservatives.. but we are being pushed out of the party.. there is a reason why the number of independents are way higher than either party at this point.. most sane people want a strong national defense, strong responsible fiscal policies (sorry, but Bush was not a fiscal conservative.. and Obama.. well he's just stepping the gas!)and no judicial activism... the wedges used by the MSM are social issues like abortion...if the 3 issues I stated are what a conservative person (dem or repub) campaigns on.. and avoid dictating to people on social issues.. they would win the WH... people want those 3 things.. but want to left alone on the social issues.

I didn't know until -- in 1959 we were watching Mike Wallace's documentary called "The Hate that Hate Produced." It was about the Nation of Islam and I couldn't believe -- I mean, Malcolm X was talking about the white man was the devil and standing up in white people's faces and telling them off. It was great. I mean, it's what black people did behind closed doors, but they would never do it in -- I mean, they were too vulnerable to do it, say, where they worked, at the paper mill or downtown, as we would call it. And here was a guy who had the nerve to do that, and I think if I had been a character in a cartoon, my eyes would have gone Doing! -- like this. I couldn't believe it. As I sat cowering in a corner of our living room, I glanced over at Mama and her face was radiant. I mean, this smile -- beatific smile started to transform her face. And she said quite quietly, "Amen." And then she said, "All right now," and she sat up and she said, "Yes."And she loved Malcolm X and she loved what the Muslims were doing.

Dennis Prager, a very wise joo, says that most Americans who consider themselves quite liberal are often quite conservative when asked specific questions about issues, topics, and philosophies.

Prager gets a lot of phone calls from progressives and after a few questions, he reveals them to be conservative.

Most 'progressives' are brainwashed into believing only the Left cares about civil rights, equal rights, worker's rights, clean air, clean water, etc. To the ignorant Lefty, Republicans and conservatives are against all those things, thus making themselves progressives.

The president of the United States may be reluctant to condemn Ayatollah Khamenei or Hugo Chávez or that guy in Honduras without examining all the nuances and footnotes, but sometimes there are outrages so heinous that even the famously nuanced must step up to the plate and speak truth to power. It was "the lesser of two evils" [I thought at the time] which just goes to show you that we the people need to take back our country by finding good people to run for office ourselves....
If we keep letting these monkeys in Washington and smoky back rooms do it...well it won't work out so well.
And then there is the law of uninteded consequences. I Bush hadn't won a second term we most likely wouldn't be having to deal with barry now would we? After all the real class warfare elitists are people like Kerry....and he would never have let this turd sandwich get into the whitehouse. Too many other east coast white libs to promote.

well.. I'll be honest.. I have voted democrat since I first registered to vote.. I have for names.. I had no clue about them.. except they had a "D" after their name...
I cannot do that anymore..sometimes I get the sense the media sets up the fights b/w repubs and dems just to keep patriots who are willing to compromise out...
Never in my life have a vote for a repub.. and last election.. at least in my view.. it was not a republican I was voting for .. it was a conservative.. sarah Palin.. I could not disagree with this woman more on social issues.. but b-4 she ran.. I checked out her resume.. this woman fights back.. and does not back down to corruption.. I mean she quit her position as the Oil and Gas commisioner b/c they would not clean up the corruption and she wanted no part of that, and as a governor she put her state first... but she did not dictate her social issues on others.
I really think those 3 items I meantioned in my previous post (strong fiscal policies, strong nation security, no judicial activism) binds all americans.. b/c they really are not democrat or repub. issues, they are american issues... the media just strays from this and uses wedge social issues to divide people up.....and I can honestly say that I think people are waking up...
people voted for "Change" and never even asked what that meant.

Well yes, I think I know what you mean, although it must be said that just about all legislation is 'imposing morality,' as they say. The problem with the left, of course, is that they do not legislate. They declare by judicial fiatsweeping changes in established practice and invent "rights" out of whole cloth. (Talk about imposing morality!)
I honestly believe that these 'social issues' would not be nearly as divisive if they were left to state legislatures rather than shoved down our throats by arrogant judges.

313 johnc--ex-democrat:

I am an ex-democrat, too, only from an earlier era. I was a democrat from a democrat family and voted for Mr. Peanut, James Earl Carter.

What followed was amnesty for deserters, gutting the CIA, de-funding the military, selling the Panama Canal, the oil embargo with rationing of gasoline, offices turned down to 65 degrees in the winter, Russian invasion of Afghanistan with our retaliation being no Olympics, no outdoor Christmas lights, a speech telling us we were no longer a super power, beef shortage with stores selling hamburger mixed with soy, stabbing the Shah in the back, Iranian hostage crisis, 18% home mortgages, failed hostage rescue mission due to crappy equipment, a misery index (yes, a misery index!) and a speech telling us that it was all our fault for having a bad attitude (the "malaise" speech).

When Ronald Reagan ran in 1980 I marched myself to the polls at 6AM to vote for him. My thinking was that he couldn't be any worse.

Well, Reagan did great, and my eyes were opened. I will now never vote for a democrat, not even for dogcatcher.

And the media has been this biased for a long time...they just haven't been as obvious. Now they are nothing but PR for the Obama White House.

Anyway, welcome to our side. We aren't perfect, but we are normal folks with a sense of history and tradition, as well as people who want the Republic to survive. I post on sites like this to speka my piece, and hope that it helps keep our country from going down the toilet. I have grandchildren whom I want to live in a free country.

Yes, people voted for letters instead of people with good ideas and a strong loyalty to America and her people for decades now. It has become just another form of tedious tribal warfare and so we shouldn't be surprised that we get a "leader" that has all the talent and expertise of Baby Doc or Mugabe...he's a cheap Chicago thug, period....and that his vision for America resembles nothing more than a third world banana republic..
He wants control and money and power...and he got it with his little slogan of change. How he must laugh at us behind closed doors right now. After all, technically he didn't lie did he? We have "change" alright...and it's godawful.

I really thought (and I think the Clintons thought) that they'd be cruising into the White House simply because people were missing the good ol' days with Bill Clinton.

ACORN was the deciding factor, I believe, Obama's fraud-vote machine was a lot bigger than Hillary's fraud-vote machine during the primaries, apparently. Those 'record turn-outs' during the primaries were a joke. Yeah, if we eliminated all the fraud, Hillary Clinton would've easily got the nomination.

I know we agree that the transformative figure that is Obama is devastating to this nation on too many levels to count. He's flooding the zone with change, incompetence, offense, and dishonesty. Finally the nation is recognizing what many who comment here have known Obama to be from day one. 342 >>Who's the Racist? Gates sure seemed to rely on age-old stereotypes to fuel his anger, didn't he?

Dr Gates’ own version of the story tells us that HE was racist. On his website he tells us he refused to step on the porch because ” I realized that I was in danger. And so I said to him that I want your name, and I want your badge number and I said it repeatedly.” In other words, Dr. Gates saw a white officer whom he instantly assumed might do violence despite the truth that it was Dr. Gates’ residence. No matter how bad history has treated blacks, that only makes Dr. Gates apprehension understandable. It does not change the fact that it was based on the officer's skin being white. By assuming the white officer might harm him despite the truth, Dr. Gates is the one guilty of racial profiling.

Yes, blacks history offers plenty of reasons we’ll never overcome racial profiling until people of color are willing to admit that they do it too. As embarrassing as it would be, I hope Dr Gates explores this side of this thorny problem in his documentary lest the problem be with us forever.

Another doctor of color, Dr Martin Luther King, had two main heroes: Jesus and yet another person of color, Mohandis K. Gandhi. Gandhi fervently believed it is necessary to learn as much as possible about your opponent’s perspective. To that end, I suggest Dr Gates (1) become small-arms qualified at a local shooting range, (2) after actually handling several fire arms then start going about in public wearing a Kevlar vest and do 100 hours riding as a police observer in a squad car on Friday and Saturday nights. I’m sure he’ll see racial profiling from whites and directed at whites by others. He will certainly better appreciate the risks cops take every day, and hopefully he will include reverse racial profiling in his documentary.

As a Harvard Law School student, Obama got 17 parking tickets during 1989-1991 from the "stupid" Cambridge Police Department that he left unpaid until just weeks before he announced his bid for the presidency.
In other words, as a practicing lawyer in Chicago, he allowed these tickets and penalties to remain unpaid; as an Illinois state senator he allowed these tickets and fines to remain unpaid; and as a United States senator he allowed these almost-two-decade-old signs of his disdain for the law to remain unpaid. However trivial use this against him too.

349 Obama is thinkinglike Gates' lawyer. He's trying to arrange anout of courtreconciliation to get his client off the hook for a defamation lawsuit.
If I was Crowley's lawyer, I'd tell him to forget about any meeting with Gates and go forward with the lawsuit. Gates has deep pockets and it's all on tape.

353 I'm sick of the new Obama paradigm being fashioned for him out there
in newsland. Whenever he FUCKS UP ROYALLY, we'll allow him to turn it
into a "teachable moment", whereby we can all learn, at his knee. It
was called a "Mulligan" for Clinton. Bush was never allowed a second
piece of toilet paper.

354 The audacity of ignorance and hubris on display by Barack Obama is
jaw dropping. His lame attempt Friday afternoon to quell the
controversy sparked by his Wednesday night bloviation at the White
House press conference, where he declared that the Cambridge police
“acted stupidly,” flopped. Pay close attention to what this clown of a
politician:

“I want to make clear that in my choice of words I think I
unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge
Police Department or Sergeant Crowley specifically — and I could have
calibrated those words differently,” Obama said. “And I told this to
Sergeant Crowley.”

Gave an impression? Is he crazy?

You did not “give an impression” you fool. You did malign Sergeant
Crowley. You just assumed that because he was a white cop he was in the
wrong. Without getting any facts and without any caveat you said the
Crowley acted stupidly. As Forest Gump said, “stupid is as stupid does”
and you, Mr. Obama, have taken stupidity to a new level.

Barack Obama could have put the matter to rest by admitting that he
had overreacted by assuming that the confrontation between Harvard
professor Gates and Cambridge police officer Jim Crowley was race
based. But as we now know the only person who injected race in that
incident was the Professor Gates. Gates could have defused the entire
incident if he had simply provided his ID to Sergeant Crowley and
expressed appreciation for the police checking out the report that his
home was being burglarized. But Gates did not do that. He accused
Sergeant Crowley of being a racist and of targeting a black man.
Crowely handled the incident professionally and appropriately and his
account was backed up by a black police officer who witnessed the
incident.

So what the hell is the teachable moment? Gates should keep his damn
mouth shut and cooperate with the police? Obama should keep his lips
zipped until he has a chance to get the full facts? What I have learned
is that Barack Obama is a race baiter. Instead of trying to bridge
differences between blacks and whites Obama declares without any proof
that a white officer is guilty and a black professor innocent. Obama,
you have nothing to teach us. Look in the damn mirror and go teach
yourself.

In the future keep your yap muzzled until you actually know what in the hell is going on.

356 The man makes a living off the race card. Does his childish behavior surprise anyone .... Harvard is wasting their money employing him. America can put racism behind her by ignoring people like Gates AND ending affirmative action. After all the president is black, which proves a black man can do anything if he works at it. Look at Judge Thomas and Condalisa Wright. Need more like them and less like Jackson and Gates.

357 I really shouldn't be writing this, but my 18 year old son has found that racism is a big turn-on to liberal college girls. Not hardcore, skinhead stuff, but he affects an attitude toward race like Clint Eastwood in <i>Gran Torino</i> and the left-liberal college girls eat it up like sweet, sweet candy.

And the liberal, sensitive new age guys stand on the sidelines, practicing their lines about hope and change, and wondering why the girls "just want to be friends" with them.

361 I think our foolish president stepped into this mess deliberately. He thought that a minor contraversy over this would go in his favor and help to hide the lackluster performance on healthcare. Of course, the question was planned, but he might not have called on him if the press conference had gone differently,.

Anyway, he miscalculated on 2 pts. 1, the rest of the country isn't Chicago... and 2. the Pres. obviously didn't realize the Mic was on during the altercation.

Without ability to spin, they are backing away quickly:

364 richard mcenroe: "That the nation that was gonna nominate George Wallace for the Dem presidential candidacy until he got shot?"

Consider that this nation just elected the most Leftist president in our country's history yet self-defined conservatives outnumber self-defined liberals by approximately 2:1. Would you say the country has truly redefined itself as more liberal? I wouldn't. As I said, the country has been drifting Left for over a century as we redefine the concept of strict Constitutional conservatism, but there's no way this country would, on the whole, be defined as a liberal one (progressive liberal as opposed to classical liberal) when comparing relative weights to the Left and to the Right. Contemporaneously, this is still a Right leaning nation. The Left only succeeds politically when it hides its policies using "conservative" phraseology.

I'm pretty certain Obama is further Left than Wallace would have been, yet I don't believe this nation to be any more fundamentally Left than it was under Bush, a notorious right-winging, Bible-thumping, enviro-hating, babies-head biting neocon. Still we elected Obama over the "fascist."

Our constituency can be profoundly fickle and ignorant. I guess it's the nature of any large population, particularly one that has relatively few complaints in the grand scheme of things or that has too few frustrated enough to revolt against the inertia of big government. Our national success, however, can still breed voting day tantrums. Furthermore, electoral manipulation can and does skew the face of our politics. But the American body remains essentially the same (i.e. Right) save for the inevitable drift inherent in aging democracies.

Our legacy media would proclaim that the American constituency has embraced our Leftist in Chief and liberalism is representative of our beliefs just as it would have if Wallace had won and just as it did when Kennedy did. Obama isn't wholly nor even majority representative -- in complete contradiction of what The Filters™ record. I contend that it was the same back in the 60's.

Posted by: QuickDraw at July 27, 2009 04:04 PM (PPrUJ)

375 It should be well understood by now that BO is a racist who practices the beliefs that he learned in Rev Wright's church. BO has no right to voice his opinion about this, especially to demean the police when he admits he doesn't know the facts. I am disgusted with the whole event and that people of many colors and beliefs continue to accuse some of us of racism if we have a different opinion than our half-white president. Unless you were actually on that porch, you cannot know for sure that Crowely disrespected this man. Other officers have substantiated the events--yes I know what you will say about that. It appears that Gates believes he is such a well-known figure that everyone knows who he is. Of course, most of the View had to weigh in on their opinion. God knows they are never biased-ha ha. Until it is proven to me by actual video or tape, I will not believe that the officer did not do his job. Gates' house had an attempted break-in not long before this drama occurred. If the police did not come to investigate the 911 call, then BO and Gates would be whining that the police were racist because they didn't investigate. There is no winning with the black racist in this country. Get over it and attempt to understand there is more important issues going on than this old man who has an attitude.
