Rasmussen: Republicans lead Democrats on 8/10 major issues

Ouch, this has got to hurt.

The democrats are losing Social Security, the Economy, and Government Ethics.

Savor that for a moment - the democrats have LOST the social security issue to the republicans. By 5 points!

It says the Dems still lead healthcare, yet here's another of their polls released today:

http://tinyurl.com/ngs347

Rasm poll:

Forty-nine percent (49%) of U.S. voters now at least somewhat oppose the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, while 46% at least somewhat favor it, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

This marks the first time that more voters lean against the plan than support it. Just two weeks ago, 50% were for the reform plan, and 45% were opposed.

The “nays” also continue to have the edge in terms of intensity. While 22% strongly favor the Democrats’ health care reform plan, 38% strongly oppose it, up four points from the previous survey.

The partisan intensity is getting stronger, too. Sixty percent (60%) of Republicans strongly oppose the plan, up three points from two weeks ago, but only 35% of Democrats strongly favor it, down eight points from the earlier survey. Even more noticeably, among voters not affiliated with either party, those strongly opposed to the health care reform plan have risen 12 points over the past two weeks from 39% to 51%.

I was listening to a radio station that's based out of Woodstock, NY a few weeks ago.  The DJs interviewed a financial analyst who explained how if the "official" unemployment figures are anywhere in the 9% range it means that real unemployment is already well into double digits.  He went on quite a bit in that vein, concluding that by the end of the year the "official number would indeed be in double digits. Naturally the DJ's failed to ask any pertinent questions about the stimulus package and it's lack of job creation but I still couldn't believe that the frikkin' Woodstock station was actually letting this go out over the airwaves. The DJ's probably felt a just like the CNN anchor who asked about Obama's welcome in Ghana being "unprecedented'.

Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, July 13, 2009

The White House mess -- the military-inspired term for the West Wing cafeteria -- opens at 7 a.m. each day. And each day, there is a long line of hungry staffers who have already been at the office for well over an hour.

By 8 p.m., as the doors to the mess are about to close, the orders flow again as bleary-eyed staffers grab dinner before heading back to their offices for another conference call or meeting.

"I think the mess hates all of us," said a frequent customer who is a senior adviser to President Obama.

In a city where work can border on obsession, the Obama staffers stand out. They are not quite the walking dead, but their eyes are frequently ringed with the bags that accompany exhaustion.

"This is a place, because of the stress, the schedule and the sheer hours, that just chews people up and spits them out," said press secretary Robert Gibbs, whose alarm clock is set to 4:30 a.m., though he ignores the early ring more often these days.

66 Democrats are losing on government ethics? How can that be? Pelosi said this is the most ethical congress EVAH!

How is it unethical to stuff money in your freezer and then ask the national guard to help you save it before a hurricane strikes? Or to give your husband the military contracts when you're sitting on the committee that awards those contracts? Or to own 4 rent controlled, subsidized apartments you're getting a great discount and using for offices?

It's far worse to cheat on your wife with your Argentine mistress. Or to look hot, have a hot husband, lovely children and be the best governor of AK anyone's ever seen.

The Republicans have been the Party of No and we've been the Party of Yes, getting things back on track after the mess of the last eight years.  Our programs have worked, are working, and will continue to work, and any evidence the the contrary is because we misunderestimated how bad the economy that we were left with actually is, even though we ran on a platform of "the worst economy since the Great Depression."

Let me be perfectly clear:  Things are perfect and will continue to be perfect from now on, and everything that sucks is Bush's fault.

And let there be no mistake: We apologize for everything that has ever happened in recorded history prior to Jan 20 2009.

None what so ever.

I suspect this result is an indirect indicator of the (perhaps misguided) faith in the republican's (supposedly) better ability to leave a few bucks in the treasury to keep the SS checks coming.

Good grief.

96 leave a few bucks in the treasury to keep the SS checks coming.

One of GWBush's 1st matter of business was to address "entitlements". Even a progressive compassionate conservative socialist didn't try to break the bank until he was leaving the Oval Office. If he hadn't stayed so mute on matters of self defense during his presidency, that TARP final gesture would suffice to explain his silence since leaving.

You're right. Trust no one further than you have control. And voters do NOT have control over their legislators and POTUS of czars.

generic Republican is more trusted.  unfortunately, we don't have any generic Republicans in office.  we have McCain, Graham and their kind, backed up by Michael Steele.  While there might be a couple of useful ones in the house, there are a handful ready to stab them in the back.  the lesson is don't pay attention to polls like this.

This whole thing about "Rasmussen is a Conservative Polling Firm" is such a complete load.

Rasmussen, unlike other pollsters such as Gallup, is completely transparent in their methodology including party affiliation weightings.  They base these weightings on 40,000 phone interviews.  Right now Rasmussen is showing Dems with about a 6 point party affiliation advantage and weights his poll numbers accordingly.  They are right up front about this.

At the same time, the "scientific and unbiased (it is to laugh)" Gallup Polling Firm uses a 12 point Dem Sampling Advantage even though their own polls say that it should be 7. (The NYTimes regularly gives Democrats a 20 point sampling adantage in their polls - I suppose you consider those more "accurate and unbiased"?)

Whereas Rasmussen was pretty much dead on for the 2008 POTUS election, Gallup missed the final result by only 7 points (a joke).

CONCLUSION:
Anyone who says that Rasmussen is a "conservative pollster" simply because he is one of the few who isn't a raving moobat liberal is lying to themselves.  His methods are completely transparent and historically the most accurate pollster in America.

No, it's me, the genuine fool. And fuck you, maddog, and palin steele, too.

Read (if you can read) Bill Mitchell's comment at 101, and then tell me again how biased Rasmussen is. The poll isn't biased, but palin steele?

Polls are snapshots. 2010 is still a long way off. But it's a hell of a lot better to trending up than down. People are beginning to catch on to the fact that Obumbles is an empty suit.

The amusing thing is that the 7 points by which Gallup missed the final results is pretty much EXACTLY the same amount by which they OVERSAMPLE Democrats in their polls.

Everybody's in early for their complimentary food service; and everybody looks all hollow-eyed, degenerated and dissolute; and on this basis they are declared to possess an unprecedented work ethic.  How about using other metrics, such as how many hours they work, and what actually gets produced during that time?

And I agree with whoever said that the inhabitants of that hive should  pee into sample cups.

Here's the sad thing:  So much of what's wrong today is because most Democrats believe Republicans are raw blazing evil, while most Republicans believe Democrats are merely stupid.  This is why Democrats are willing to attack viciously and without restraint, while Republicans aren't willing to go that far.  It'd be like picking on the mentally handicapped.
What's even sadder is this:  Both sides are projecting.
