Protesters Being Hanged in Iran?

So reports say.

Incidentally, that picture linked at the end of the post -- the atrocity -- is extremely disturbing.

So disturbing, in fact, Obama just emailed me to say he'd like to see the debate enter a "less-robust" phase.

Mousavi, meanwhile, declares Ahmadinejead "illegitimate" and calls for more protests.

That bite is beyond humanity.

Obama is condemning Honduras with far more force than he is condemning Iran.  Ten years from now, the impact of that will still be felt.

democrats will be easy on you if you act like an animal, and hard on you if you follow basic laws.  They think this is some kind of cleverness, but it's just going to lead to a lot of animals.

I posted a link about this last night.  Here is my response (I assume most here are thinking the same thing):

Mr. President,

You have sat back while innocent people have died.  You have cheered on dictators and thuggish regimes.  You have shaken hands and accepted gifts from the devil.  You have stood in defense of a tyrant.  You have disgraced this proud country.  You deserve not our praise, but our contempt.  You have earned nothing but pity and prayers for your soul.  You sir, are less than a man.  You disgust me.  You have the blood of men on your hands,  the freedoms and liberties of a Republic under your feet, and the wispers of evil in your ear.  You do not represent me.  You are not a hero.  You are not the chosen one.  You are the hateful boy hiding in the body of a man.

You may have won an election, but you have not earned the title of President of the United States.  You have not earned the title of Commander in Chief.  You have not earned the title of 'man'.

and this

I would have said more but I couldn't see the screen through my tears.  It just angers me that Obama thinks being President is something that is Earned through votes.  It isn't.  It is earned through loving and respecting the Republic of the United States.  It is earned through defending freedom, democracy and liberty everywhere.  It is earned by sticking up for the citizens, not the tyrants.  It is earned through making each American know through your actions that you think America is a Blessed Land.  It is earned through the tears you shed when America is hurting.  It is earned through the fight you give defending Her.

29 13 - obama is about to be busy handling this

Zelaya himself, though, gave some indication that he recognized his own lawbreaking, undermining the effort by the OAS:

Zelaya, who is an ally of leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, backed down from the referendum Tuesday, saying at the United Nations that he would no longer push for the constitutional changes he wanted.

One of several clauses that cannot be legally altered in the Honduran constitution limits presidents to a single, 4-year term, and Congress claims Zelaya, whose term ends in January, modified the ballot question at the last minute to help him eventually try to seek re-election. Chavez has used referendums in Venezuela to win the right to run repeatedly.

“I’m not going to hold a constitutional assembly,” Zelaya said. “And if I’m offered the chance to stay in power, I won’t. I’m going to serve my four years.”

Maybe the OAS, and especially the Obama administration, should take a look at that statement and consider it awhile.  Honduras had legitimate reason to remove Zelaya from office, even if arguably they used illegitimate means to do so.  Zelaya repeatedly violated the constitution of Honduras, first by attempting to hold the referendum, and second by illegally firing the chief of the Army, who reports to both the president and the legislature in Honduras.

The idea of marching Zelaya back into Honduras flanked by the heads of state of two other nations is practically begging for war.  The Honduran military will have no choice but to arrest Zelaya, which will give Argentina and Ecuador an excuse to send its military if the trio have guns drawn on them at the airport.  And for what?  In the service of an executive who abused power and flouted the law in an attempt to make himself Presidente-for-Life?

Barack Obama has enabled this nuttiness with his meddling on behalf of a Chavez wannabe.  His State Department had better make it known that any attempt to fly Zelaya back into Honduras would be met with our displeasure, and that the issue rightly belongs with the Honduran legislature and courts.  Otherwise, we’ll have a war breaking out in Latin America that we can ill afford at the moment.

O/T:  Wanna see some bad writing?  At the top of the hour on SCI channel, there's a show called Geologic Journey: The Rockies.

Saw it last night.  Horrible.  I'd been looking forward to something packed with information.  Instead, it gropes and wanders aimlessly, killing what could have been a nice opportunity to teach.  The onscreen dialogue is of the unplanned variety.  Two guys conversing, one going "uh-huh," "mmm,"  "yeah,"  and "gruntmmm," for example.  But the narration is even worse--which is hard to imagine.  Filled with hackneyed phrases, failed attempts at hackneyed phrases, horrible construction, redundancies, and on and on.  I was thinking of making a list, but in short order the task became too large.

Watch it for the unintentional humor.  It's like a spoof of the typical well-produced science show.

The reporting on Honduras is beyond belief bad. Our Pravda keeps referring to it as a military coup. Sorry the military acted on instructions of the Supreme Court. And they call Roberto Micheletti the coup leader. Sorry, he was appointed by the congress. Honduras is doing everything it can to defend its democracy.

The World Bank also said it was freezing loans.

"If living in democracy implies living with fewer resources, Hondurans will adjust to the situation," Micheletti's Finance Minister Gabriela Nunez said Wednesday.

I can see why Barry is siding with Zelaya and his supporters.

Young men wearing black T-shirts imprinted with the face of revolutionary icon Che Guevara used boulders, signposts and metal sheets yanked from fences to block all streets leading to the presidential palace on Wednesday, just hours after soldiers took down their own barricades and allowed traffic to flow.

There's a lot of crap on science channel that sucks. I'm quite fricken sick of "How It's Made" where they explore the assembly line at goddamn Frito Lay potato chip factory for an hour.

"Then the potatoes are sliced by a large slicing machine. From there, it's off to the fryer" Look dudes, if you have to play elevator music in the background of your programming to spice it up and hold interest you might as well save some cash and have a "Meditation Hour with your host: Black Screen" because your audience is dead bodies and people who left the TV on when they went to the store.

And there there's this new crappy fad of having hack CGI scifi, wherein they show you what T-Rex's bite strength was by having him bite down on a sensor at DinoLab. The show about colonizing space is interesting but I could do without the douchebag host and the CGI and the comic books.

Then I'm assaulted by some Tim & Eric Awesome Show level of craptastic corny 4th grade 'humor' on some show called 'Brink' that basically rehashes headlines off the Science & Technology section of a news website.

And then there's the global warming crap.

Lightweight. Who watches this shit? Where's Wierd Connections gone to? How come that Michio Kakau show they're always advertising is never on?

So I turn on the History Channel which is busy exploring the secret ingredient of balogne, the search for Big Foot, and a lumberjack driving a truck on a frozen lake for an hour.

A lot of people are willing to live a lie if resistance is scary.  Stalin, Saddam, and many others used fake elections to placate these idiots.  Look at how tough it was for our military to win in Iraq... those idiots could have easily overthrown Saddam, but they didn't because they were individually scared and each willing to pretend that the elections were of meaning.

it's a psychological trick.

Pray it doesn't happen here any worse than it already has.  For sure, there are a couple of elected officials who won sham elections in the USA.  The only reason it's not worse is that COI doesn't think it could get away with it.

86 momma (#9), I agree with your sentiments totally. But he doesn't care. None of them care. The people made a fatal mistake when they elected this monster. They have put a totalitarian in charge of the government, and with their comrades in the media and academia, they now control the entire society. We are seeing the rapid end of the United States as we have known it. By 2010 it will be too late. The Republicans will probably join in passing Amnestia this year, sealing their fate as the permanent minority party and effectively turning us into a one-party state. Regardless, the Democrats can pass anything they want right now. ACORN, along with corrupt officials at all level of state and federal government, is ensuring that we never have another fair election. It's over. I've lost all hope. I can only see this ending in slavery or violence.

@95,

I think that is his strategy - move as fast as possible, and then deal with the fall out.  Obama is willing to sacrifice his popularity now because he is so fucking sure socialism works and at the end of the day we will all praise and worship him for it -a see I told you so moment.  The problem is when he fails.  If civil strife happens, I think it won't start with conservatives; it will start in the big cities amongst all the bho voters who are out of work, and upset because all of the hand outs from the city, county and state are gone. Let’s not forget, the average bho voter does not subscribe to the notion of the freedom and liberty as we do, they expect the government to provide it.  New Orleans showed us how dems act when the government respiratory machine shuts off. I also think that when bho is weak Hillary’s camp will do some covert shit against him, as will Jackson and Sharpton.  Imagine the power Jackson and Sharpton get if they “talk 75,000 black out of work rioters” down and force bho into a meeting with them and demand that they be given Czar status to stop the black uprisings in the name of Unity?

114 #49 Bat Chain Puller:

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm pretty darn close to a fetal position.

I've believed since sometime during the Clinton administration that I would probably outlive the USA. Or at least live long enough to know for a fact that the end was nigh. It was really the first time in my life that I could directly observe people putting their loyalty to a politician and a political party ahead of things like, oh, simple demonstrable facts. Over the past 15 years, it's only gotten worse. I thought, briefly, that 9/11 would wake us up, but we all know how that turned out.

I believe that, as a culture, we have become suicidal. BHO is a symptom of that - not the cause of it - but I think that given the right circumstances, he could be the agent of our destruction. Is it a certainty? No. But it could happen. I thought the country would fall apart slowly, but I'm seeing now how it can happen faster than I thought possible.

I'm trying to figure out now how to best ensure my survival. I am, as they say, cash poor. I own a house (no mortgage), and I have some debt. I would very much like to sell the house, but that seems to be becoming tougher by the day. Plus I've got a good deal to fix up before it can go on the market, unless I want to sell it "as is" or as a teardown.

I live in one of the most difficult states in the country in which to acquire firearms. I'd dearly love to leave, but I just started a new job (six months ago), and I'd like to hang onto it as long as I can. Any place that I can find a job is likely to be at least somewhat majority liberal.

I am not joking about being close to a fetal position. I had a panic attack this morning. Partially it was triggered by personal stuff, but the economic and political situation of the times was a nontrivial factor.

I honestly don't know what to do. I have never been this afraid of my own government in my life.

I am doing my job.  I am collecting paychecks.  I am calling reps and senators in a [mostly vain] effort to ask them to reject Obama's radical agenda.

But the most important preparation I am doing is thinking very hard about what a SHTF scenario means.  Ours is a government of/by/for the people, and the responsibility for that empty suit's election to POTUS rests with the 52.

If things descend into chaos, I will see to it that no lefty ever again has any say in my affairs, and I am preparing myself by mentally exploring the extent to which I am willing to go to achieve that.

Until then, life goes on.

Sorry, but I spent 8 long years on other message boards trying to sway hearts & minds and writing my reps.

I even kept silent on things I was a bit uncomfortable with like the creation of DHS and some parts of the Patriot Act because I saw the creators of those to be lesser evils than the leftists.

I would get into arguments with lefties that had my hands shaking with rage above the keyboard.

What did I get for it? The leftists have won two crushing victories in a row, DHS calls me a terrorist for my beliefs and portions of the Patriot Act might be used to strip folks of their 2nd Amendment rights without recourse (see H.R. 2401).

The author of a blog I discovered earlier this year has declared us to be in a "post political" phase where the ballot box will not stop the slide into tyranny. Again, I pray he's wrong but I'm seeing more and more evidence he's right.

Indeed, but a successful resistance movement is about terror.  Mostly terrorizing of the cogs that make an evil system work.  You can't touch the king-pins or their spawn but the system runs on gruppen-fuehrers, and they have children, and wives, and cousins, and parents.

Think of the Sicarii.   Its bad, bad, bad, and I want no part of it, but it works.

AKA, statist lite.

What we need to be praying for is that the Republic can survive long enough that the fractured and scattered freedom movement can get itself back together again.

Thing is the war on individualism and self-reliance has been going on for so long through our educational system (50+ years now by my reckoning) that there may not be enough freedom-minded folks to have enough voting power.

And by freedom I mean true freedom with responsibility married to it. Not the postmodern definition of freedom where no action carries a consequence.

I felt the same way over the same timeframe.

When the SCOTUS stood up for the rule of law in 2000 and then we had national unity after 9/11 I thought perhaps we might be able to reverse course.

When it became clear the GOP was about to get clobbered in the 2006 elections the old concerns started but it was about mid-Feb of this year that I felt like someone had put me in a time machine set for mid-1993.

Me too, but more like since the Lewinsky scandal broke. I couldn't believe at that time that the Democratic party wouldn't stand up and demand that he resign. To me, that was the breaking point; the point at which the only thing that mattered was party. They hung together, and the bastards won.

That was also the point at which the media made the full leap from being biased to being outright propagandists. When Carville delcared war on Starr, and the media went along, that's when the mask was off. It wasn't a news media anymore, it was a talking point distribution machine.

I don't know what can be done in the face of this media/government complex. Some people are generally ignorant. Some people know they're lying and don't care. Some people actually like it. And I think some people have doublethinked themselves into believing it.

Mostly terrorizing of the cogs that make an evil system work.  You can't touch the king-pins or their spawn but the system runs on gruppen-fuehrers, and they have children, and wives, and cousins, and parents.

I just don't see the successful establishment of such an evil system because:

1.  There are some increments between here and there that cannot be broken into small enough chunks to swallow (such as disarming the populace)

2.  Obama and his minions are in a hurry, and the MSM's cheering is going to encourage an overreach

I am with 12 Inch Middle Finger in that I see the most likely SHTF scenario to be an explosion of violent crime in the cities followed by rioting over quality-of-life issues and food shortages.

New Deal and Great Society progressivism has created a vast underclass of dependents concentrated in urban areas and reliant on the engine of American prosperity.  Obama and this Congress are sabotaging this engine.  All the redistributionist legislation in the world cannot  squeeze blood from a stone.

To make matters worse, Obama has already whet the appetite for unrest with his repeated endorsements of class warfare and thuggish intimidation.  He was a community organizer, and that is what he knows.  He has sown the wind, and he will reap the whirlwind.

From your keyboard to God's monitor.  I'm more of a pessimist, I guess.

Like I said, if worse comes to worst, I prefer rebellion with its command authority, etc, to resistance.

If AoS will forgive me for plugging the upcoming novel by a friend of a friend this "what if" of how it might go down will make your blood run cold.

Read everything in order starting with the intro.

Like I said, if worse comes to worst, I prefer rebellion with its command authority, etc, to resistance.

I really don't see much of a distinction in the likely scenarios.

The only rebellion that would succeed would have to start as individual resistance.  The alternative is to organize beforehand, and that invites the knock in the middle of the night.

Amazes me how the single brain cell idiots in this country can compare an occasional aberration in conduct of our law enforcement to the country-wide thought police cracking down on protests in Iran.

You are falling for the same media garbage as the rest of the country. Why do you thing the police were found not guilty on the first Rodney King trial?  The MSM only showed a brief clip of that film of the cops beating him. Sure it looked bad, but when you saw the entire unedited video it was an entirely different story.

This was the same thing they do to any story that they want to push and angle in, whether it is destroying a Republican candidate or pushing for riots in LA. They do creative editing and show it to the world.

In a world with real justice every media producer who showed that edited video would have tried and found guilty of incitement to riot in LA.

Re:  my post, #85.  I drew moron attention to this unanswered WikiAnswers question:   "Why is obama such a horrible president?"

Well, looks like it's been thoroughly moronized.  I figured a good moron wouldn't be able to resist the bait.  It's like dangling brains in front of zombie.  Nice answer, guys.  Fun-nay.  Everyone go look.
