Seems Like Old Times: 46% of Country Now Finds Democrats "Too Liberal"

Previously, just in time for the ridonculous 2008 elections, a majority of Americans had thought them "about right" as far as ideology. Now that figure is down to 42%.

Note that in 1994 or thereabouts -- when Republicans swept them out of power in Congress -- 50% felt they were too liberal and 37% thought they were "about right:"

We're not there yet, but we just saw a 15% net change in their too liberal/about right rating.

1 It's that 8% that scares the hell out of me.

Explain to me why some douche bags in the GOP still insist we be more like Democrats when the Democrats are losing popularity?

3

And 8% of the country thinks they're too conservative.

Those people must be something else.

4 I don't see a category for 'Fucking Commies.'

5 "Too Liberal" is at its highest level since 1995.

The Dems just can't help themselves.

6 100% of RNC Chairmen think these polls are divisive and mean-spirited with Nazi tendencies.

A little Zombie Lee Atwater would hit the spot nicely right about now.

10 I just have to say this.   Why does matt drudge have the richard simmonsesque type picture of Franken on the front page?   I mean he looks like Boney Frank for gosh sakes.

hmm, I wonder if we super-imposed unemployment figures, the line would track with the "too liberal" trend line?

In other words, I think people's largess* wanes as unemplyment rates increase.

*by people's largess I mean the people's tolerance of Congress' largess with the people's money

12 I think we can win more elections if we just rech out to those 85 who are disaffected democrats.

Posted by: Michael Steele at June 30, 2009 07:57 PM (wU8X9)

13

The thing is that even if we do win back control of Congress the Republican party will inevitably try and makeup and get them to like us.

What we need to do the second we get back into power is go after every single leftist in this country. We need to drag them infront of Congress and then hold them in contempt and throw them into jail.

They are scum and should be trated as such.

8%.  Eh, fuck it, what do I know about typing?

17

This is by far the most mean spirited polling conducted to date. To believe that true Americans believe my Democrat Party too liberal is simply a Republican plot to overthrow my administration.

I take great umbrage with this approach, and will ferret out these non-believers and have them sent for re-programming.  They will grow to love the progressive movement, even if it kills them.

And if I'm right about unemployment being the barometer of the American people, then it would be very good for us if Obama and the Democrats try to legalize the illegals who are a drain on our economy.

25

Okay. Totally off-topic except for the liberal bullshit angle, but...

I'm watching 'Life Without People' and there are a few things that strike me, considering this is, you know, The 'History' Channel:

1. 150 years after people, the John Hancock Tower will give way to a "pancake collapse"

Since we all know that buildings do not simply "pancake" without well and secretly placed explosive devices, how is this possible? Hell, even fuel-packed jetliners could never render such a collapse.

2. 10,000 years after people and it is "unlikely" that Shackleton's Antarcrtic cabins would remain.

Wait? How in the hell has the "subzero" temperature made it possible to say "unlikely"? Won't the world have been incinerated due to evil SUVs and cans of WD-40 by then?

And...wait a minute. Nary a word about how the awful, hazardous by-products of human existence will cause the world to shrivel and die or explode into a giant fireball.

I'm so confused.

33   As with any polls coming out of Gallup (or pew, or quinnipiac, or any of them),  I wonder what the numbers really said.  I guess if we assume their usual weighting of their samples with 65% democrats/liberals, the numbers are much, much worse than reported.

Meh, polls like this mean very little.  What matters is how people act when it is time to vote.  And a lot of them will have no reason not to vote for Dems, simply because the Dems give them free stuff by taxing the rest of us.  The election of 2012 will be won before the first vote is cast, since between gerrymandering districts as a result of the Democrat-controlled census, legalizing illegal aliens, and old-fashioned vote fraud and vote intimidation the Democrats will have majorities in their pockets.

Yes, I am a pessimist.  Why do you ask?
