Senator Franken
Bumped and Updated: Coleman concedes

stuart-smalley.jpg

Breaking.

The Minnesota Supreme Court has ruled unanimously in favor of Al Franken in the disputed U.S. Senate race, according to Franken attorney David Lillehaug.

Update - Coleman says he'll abide by court ruling, concedes.

A thought [DrewM.]

Yeah this sucks but...if Coleman were going to be defeated by anyone, I'm pretty excited that a fool like Franken won.

Repbulicans showed they would never stick together on a filibuster anyway, now it's clear what's being done is passed with Democratic votes. Plus, he's going to be a clown. Making him the face of the Democrats nationally will be fun.

If Coleman had lost to some bland, inconsequential cipher that would melt into the background they'd probably stay there forever. Sen. Smalley will be gone in 6 yrs. Maybe even in a rematch with Coleman.

In the meantime, Republicans can have some fun making him the poster boy of Harry Reid's Senate majority.

Playing the optimist looking for the pony in the pile of crap doesn't come naturally but it's what we've got to work with.

Thanks to Slublog for generously offering up the chance to post this idea which I originally floated in an email.

Minnesota is a huge welfare state. No one seems to notice that. By "welfare" I include the farmers, the Iron Range dunces that won't get off their asses to learn a trade not involving a dead mining industry, and the lazy ass "gimme a handout" jerks here in the Metro. Each one points at the other and mumbles, "Stop taking the money." They then go cash their government handout checks.

Al Franken should be completely worthless to any liberal.  He'll be a novelty act in the Senate and should be shunned by members of both parties.  His rhetoric will do more to hurt any liberal cause than it will to help it.  I voted for the guy and I regret it.

When he's voted out in a landslide at the end of his first term, I'm sure he'll pout and wonder why.  And I own all of his books, I'm a fan.  And I would have loved to have him in the Senate grilling people like Alberto Gonzalez and Rummy, but his services aren't needed and will only serve for fuel to the GOP fire.  You conservatives should be happy he won.

Let's see.  The guy that wins on election night, then wins again after the recount is not, according to the Minn. Supreme Court the winner.  Instead, they appoint as the winner the douche that, only after a second recount with no set rules as to what votes get counted and not counted because of a skeezy-partisan Secretary of State, then 'wins' the election.

99 This is actually a net good: the Senate was passing everything the Democrats wanted anyway, and now they can't blame anything ever on the Republicans. Nothing bad comes of this, except the international embarrassment of having this loser in office by cheating the vote count.

And I'm not gonna lay off of Minnesotans, you guys picked this retard and the scumbag loser he was up against. You did, not anyone else. You voted him in, and voted Coleman as his alternative. No mercy for you, sorry. When you pick nothing but bozos for office you get nothing but mockery, and deservedly so.

Senator Al Franken for Christ's sake.

110 You know, I'd laugh at MN right now and make disparaging remarks about the Mayo Clinic/Med School being in the same state that elected Frakin Franken.
I'd do that, but then I remember I'm in Missouri, home of Claire (or as my mom calls her "treasonous bitch") McCaskill.

111 #96 No, we all have  our share of idiot politicians.  (My congresswoman is Sheila Jackson Lee.  She voted for capntrade.  Her district is in the oil and gas capital of the US.  Texas is going to get f****** hosed by this legislation.  The minorities in her district will suffer the most.  But the b**** couldn't figure this out!  Then again, she thought a manned spacecraft had landed on Mars.)

However, the election of this man belies Minnesota's reputation as "nice".  He is an abomination.  We all know him from  Air America.  But he  has made vile comments about  Christians  and  Catholics.  And then there's the pornography connection.  I wish some  website  would put up Franken's famous quotes.

I read the Strib comments on columns written on Franken by  Kersten.  They were oozing with hatred.  Really rabid.  And then there's the election of Keith Ellis, from a majority white district.  I would love it if someone could explain the strange behavior of the denizens of Minnesota to me.

Of course, you have one incredible standout house member from your state.  I don't think we have one in our state who is great as Michelle Bachmann.

It's been time to drink for the past 6 months, with no end in sight.  But if Obama or Franken fucks with my Summit Extra Pale Ale, there's going to be trouble.

And as I mentioned above- Coleman's loss wasn't due to the third-party candidate- if anything, he benefitted from him being in the race.

I'm not a native Minnesotan and neither is my wife.  We have lived here 28 years.  We find Minnesota society to be an institution of socialist pluralistic cluelessness.

Neither one of us can understand the "moron culture" in this state that continues to give the DFL candidate a guaranteed 40-45% of the vote - even if he's a completely unqualified moron.  The old saw "Democrats are for the people and Republicans are for the rich." is still a operative phrase for many, especially those in the outstate (rural areas).

We also cannot understand the degree of hate many DFLers have for anyone who supports traditional values, personal responsibility, earning your way, hard work, law and order, strong defense and other conservative values.  There is a solid 10% of liberals that will hate you, spit in your face, vandalize your car if it has the wrong stickers, knock down political campaign signs or shout down your right to free speech.  I don't see any conservatives doing any of these things.

Nor can I understand why the mass media in this state is almost entirely left wing, with the  biggies being socialist extremists (e.g WCCO-TV and AM, KARE-TV and the Star Tribune).  Why can't we have just ONE major conservative-leaning newspaper in the state?

Nor do we understand how Minnesota makes claims about lack of voter fraud, when in reality the election officials have no tools to detect fraud and the current election laws and processes are so loose fraud can't be detected.  The whole system is designed with an assumption that everybody is trustworthy.  There aren't even tools to verify a person is a US citizen.  The whole election law, policy and procedures are a joke and will never be reformed until the DFL is totally out fo power.

132 There's footage out there somewhere of the seriously unfunny moonbat Al Franken physically assaulting someone at a convention, someone who disagreed with him or something.

This dude has real anger issues....

The Democrats have really gone to the mode of "win at ANY cost, by ANY means necessary," as their mobs are so fond of chanting. They almost pulled it off in 2000, and they've just ratcheted up their ugly game since then.

They want a One Party State, All Power to the Politburo country. Unreal.

I'm old enough to remember when we actually had two parties, and could talk about our politics at cocktail parties without anyone's head exploding.

138 Coleman voted against drilling for oil every chance he had.   Do you really think he was going to oppose cap and trade?  He started out as a democrat and is still a greenie.

I know its like strangling ones enemy on the deck of the Titanic, but it still feels good to see his ass gone.   Did he really thing he was going to get a Minnesota liberal to vote for him by voting against drilling for oil?   He's an idiot.  All he did was piss off the base.   I voted for him but I sure didn't give him campaign money.  It was rinos like Coleman that caused the the energy crisis last summer, that led to the financial meltdown just before the election, that gave everything to the democrats.

Here let me tighten my hands are his neck a little more and slam his skull against a steel stanchion a few more times as the deck goes under.  God I hate his fuc...glub, glub.......
