Iran: Our Election Was Fine, Move Along

Color me shocked, but Iran's Guardian Council says the partial recount shows Ahmadinejad won.

State television reported that the Guardian Council presented the conclusion in a letter to the Interior Minister following a recount of a what was described as a randomly selected 10 percent of the almost 40 million ballots cast June 12. Press TV said "few or no errors" were found.

...The recount conducted Monday had appeared to be an attempt to cultivate the image that Iran was seriously addressing fraud claims, while giving no ground in the clampdown on opposition. Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the Council already had pronounced the results free of major fraud and insisted that Ahmadinejad won by a landslide. And even if errors were found in nearly every one of the votes in the recount Ahmadinejad, according to the government's count, still would have tallied more votes than Mousavi.

Iranians do not seem to be impressed.

Clashes reported in Tehran after people take to the streets protesting the Guardian Council's ruling

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the Iranian government faces a "huge credibility gap" with its people. Actually, the word she should have used is "legitimacy".

Of course the Obama administration can't talk about legitimacy because they want desperately to talk to the mullahs. You remember the mullahs, of course. They are the ones who made Neda's father go on TV and blame protesters for her death. Yeah, let's talk to those guys.

Iran's Guardian Council…

Yes, color me shocked.

The Supreme leader picks the 12 member ruling council. The ruling council selects the candidate list and narrows it down to two choices. The public gets to vote on the two choices.  And they still have to cheat to get the results they want???

Folks, this is not an election. I am not to hard on Obambi on this score. Neither one of these two people are worth a shit and the election was never a real election to begin with.

Now if the people we demonstrating and going on about getting rid of the Supreme Leader AND the ruling council that would be a different story.

22 check out how those Honduras who we immediately condemned and demanded they reverse their actions treated the protesters in honduras - vs the regime in Iran who we defend from "interference and meddling" to this day:

Zelaya was arrested and flown to Costa Rica hours before a rogue referendum he had called in defiance of Honduras' courts and Congress. His opponents claimed the vote was an attempt to remain in power after his term ends Jan. 27.

Micheletti said he would serve only until the end of Zelaya's term.

"We respect everybody and we ask only that they respect us and leave us in peace because the country is headed toward free and transparent general elections in November," Micheletti said.

His designated foreign minister, Enrique Ortez Colindres, told HRN that no coup had occurred. Ortez said the military had merely upheld the constitution "that the earlier government wanted to reform without any basis and in an illegal way."

Troops with riot shields surrounded the presidential palace and armored military vehicles were parked in front, but soldiers made no attempt to clear away about 200 pro-Zelaya protesters who were burning tires and other debris, as well as blocking streets with downed trees and billboards.

"We want our elected and democratic president, not this other one that the world doesn't recognize," said Marco Gallo, a 50-year-old retired teacher.

Most people in the capital went about business as normal. Nearly all businesses were open and traffic flowed normally aside from a small part of downtown Tegucigalpa.

The Honduran constitution limits presidents to a single four-year term and forbids any modification of that limit. Zelaya's opponents feared the referendum was part of an attempt to try to run again, just as other Latin American leaders have removed constitutional clauses designed to prevent strongmen from extending their rule.

Check out this MSNBC internet headline about one impact of the recession.  You have to read down into the story to figure out they are mainly talking about "illegals".  The story flows seamlessly from illegals to legal immigrants, granting equal victim footing to both categories.  So, they've morphed from illegal immigrants, to undocumented workers, to immigrants right before our very eyes.
