Israel Security Saves Jimmy Carter From Assassination Attempt By Palestinians

Sounds about right. The headline credits Hamas for actually removing the bombs, but it was Israeli security who got the intelligence and passed it on.

Jimmy Carter immediately thanked Israelis by calling them "insidiously cunning" and "ruthlessly, even demonically, crafty." He then went back to reading a book by Holocaust denier David Irving, calling it "the feel-good rollercoaster ride of the summer."

No, but really, he did assert Hamas "wants peace" and otherwise flatter his terrorist hosts.

Its' obviously a trick! See, Israel secretly planted the bomb, then tipped off Hamas, yeah, that's it! They wanted Hamas to get credit for stopping the bombing so it would... make people mad at them for saving J.Carter's skin!

Screw 'em, those shit eating bags of shit who are eating their own ideologically ancestral shitbag parents.  Anyone who tries to assassinate an American President deserves that swiftest, most ruthless retribution imaginable.  I'm talking, we should hold competitions to see who can imagine the most swift and ruthless retribution.

Al Queda just tried to kill a former US President.

That is an act of war, and Obama needs to get his ass out there and condemn the attempt.  Now.

All kidding aside (im looking at you thebronze), noone tries to kill a former US President and lives to talk about it.  Fuck those bastards, this should be used to shock the public into reality again that Al Queda still wants to kill us.

the JPOST details are chilling:

Israeli security sources said they had learned of plans to target Carter and had passed on the information to his security detail in "real time."

According to Palestinian sources, terrorists linked to al-Qaida hid a number of bombs along a road Carter's convoy was scheduled to travel on while in the Strip.

Following Carter's entry to Gaza, five men, some wearing Hamas police uniforms, removed three large black disks and some wire from a sand dune next to a road Carter had used. They then reportedly destroyed the improvised bombs.

A uniformed officer at the scene told The Associated Press the items were explosives.

Security officials said soldiers in a lookout post spotted Hamas forces dismantling explosives. They said they passed on a warning to Carter's security detail.

36 It's embarrassing to have one of your politicians assassinated.

I remember when Jesse Ventura was my Governor, he had been attacked several times.  Some things were just like getting pies thrown at him, but it was serious that he needed security.  He started paying for his own security out of his own pocket (not charging taxpayers even though he's the Gov).  Our local press HATED, I mean, HAAAATED the guy.

The local press started calling for his security budget to be cut.  Even though he'd been attacked many times and his security budget was not raised from previous ammounts.

Their reasoning: their polls showed him unfavorably.

The local press HATED Jesse Ventura and their own polls showed him low in favorability so they started calling for his security budget to be cut.  How ridiculous is that?  He deserves to be killed because they don't like him.

I was young at the time and it was one of my cues that there was something seriously wrong with the MSM.

Exactly - the conservative blogs need to push this story hard to force Obama to protect America's interest.  This happened in Hamas's Gazaistan territory - they are at least in part responsible for not having Al Queda under control when Carter visited.

The Israelis had to bail them out with their own good intel.  Or Carter may have gotten taken out by Al Queda - can you imagine the propaganda victory for them? This is fucking ridiculous and Obama must be forced to deal HARSHLY with Hamas for their lax as hell security at a minimum! Fucking eh!

63 Sorry, but the story on its face makes no fucking sense whatsoever.   Of all the Westerners to assassinate, why would the Palestinians or Al-Qaeda target Jimmy Carter?  He's the Palestinians' biggest cheerleader in America (or at least the highest-profile and most-recognized, since Edward Said is a bit more niche-famous).

I could only imagine some element on the fringe even of AQ doing something like that -- either to demonstrate utter nihilism by targeting even an American who shares many of their sympathies; or out of the same grudge over the Israel-Egypt Treaty that led to the assassination of Anwar Sadat.

Otherwise, it just don't add up.

Posted by: JB at June 16, 2009 10:45 PM (nXTOK)

67 #63 Yes it does make sense. It was on the border and they way the story came out this a.m. on Fox, it was made to sound like Hamas had found the roadside bombs and saved Carter's life. Even Fox reported it as if they had no idea just exactly WHO had planted the things. It had a ring to it like Israel might have planted the bombs.

And with this media blackout concerning ever reporting the truth, it would be easy to manipulate the whole thing. Who knows, I could see Hamas getting ahold of some Israeli bombs and planting them there to frame Israel. Nasty little buggers that they are. Hamas that is!

The press coming out of Israel as of late has been extra angry at the U.S. and Hamas knows it. It would take forever to get to the truth, and Obama would want to frame Israel anyway. Since the old fart is such a Hamas lover they would make it look as if he was a martyr.

And think of it this way, with Obama in charge, who needs a fossil like Carter? Why should Hamas worry when they have the real deal? They have POTUS!

85 "removed three large black disks and some wire from a sand dune next to a road Carter had used. They then reportedly destroyed the improvised bombs"

large black disks = EFP or re-purposed anti-tank mines (technically also EFPs) =
not a bombmaking 1.0, but within the capability of Gaza's "engineers"

three = redundancy and wider target area making timing and knowledge of exactly which vehicle held the VIP less critical = "professional"

as far as who called who, are parts of Hamas complicit, was it real or a sympathy ploy, etc -- all unanswerable (see Wilderness of Mirrors shit).  I would be interested to know if the bomb planters had installed some surprises for the removers - not likely to find this out.

(EFP = explosively formed projectile)

Not accusing him of inserting himself exclusively for that reason, but it has to have crossed his mind.

87 63 Sorry, but the story on its face makes no fucking sense whatsoever.

You're making the mistake of assigning rationality and logic to islamic terrorists.

Even moderate muslims put 'getting even' for the (imaginary) wrongs the world has done to them ahead of common sense, rationality, or their own interests.

I live in Muslim world, trust me on that.

Posted by: emdfl at June 17, 2009 06:19 AM (blNMI)

89 My money is on this being a false flag op run by Hamas against some wannabe AQ jackasses.  String them along like you're going to help them, then drop a dime with the Israelis, and take the credit when the "perps" are foiled and Hamas "thwarts" the attack.

IF the MSM mentions this at all. Remember, 'news stories' that don't jive with their world-view simply aren't worth mentioning. Now that B.O. has charmed the Muslim snake, there's no sense talking about terrorist acts & such, unless it was Bush's fault.

Only the 'Hamas saved the ex-Prez' version holds any MSM water. See? They're on our side now!

Irony can be a delicious thing to have with your morning cup of joe.  Somewhere in hell a little demonic being is laughing at all the accumulated karmic payback; Jimmah's tab is going to be a whopper.

Wonder what AQ & Friends is going to target next?  Somehow I get the nagging suspicion that it will be something more worthwhile than Jimmah, and much more politically expedient for a certain person here in the States.

94 "to a road Carter had used"

I went back an re-read that article.  Hamas, acting on a tip from Israel, disrupted the operation.  They then let the motorcade use the planned route with the explosives still in place!

I bet the USSS guys will be lining up for the next TDY to Hamastan.

There, fixed it.

You could always grow a beard so folks don't immediately identify you as an ass model. But then they might start recognizing you as a vagina model.

100 Yeah, damn right, Hamas is most welcome to keep Jimmy Carter......the peanut farmer turned president is responsible for what freedom loving Iranians, both in and out of Iran, have been suffering with and enduring within the past 30 years in their country....hence, the situation at hand in Iran, with innocent blood being shed for democracy and basic human rights!!!
