Lovin' Tyrants: Obama Says Iranian Non-Election Won't Alter US Policy

Won't matter one whit.

President Obama told CNBC on Tuesday that the US is not in danger of overregulating the economy and that the outcome of the Iranian election will not make that much difference in his adminstration's policies toward that country.

...

As for the disputed presidential elections in Iran, Obama said it won't make that much difference to the US what the eventual outcome is.

"The difference in actual policies between Ahmadinejad and Moussavi in terms of their actual policies may not be as great as advertised," he said. "I think it's important to understand that either way we are going to be dealing with a regime in Iran that is hostile to the US. We have long-term interests in not having them with nuclear power and funding terrorism."

Unbelievable. The resisters in Iran cry out for support -- even mere support of the moral kind -- and Obama gives them the finger. He's Ahmadinejad's boy and he's not changing that for nobody.

In the interview, he also blames Bush for the interventions in the formerly capitalist economy of the US, and also claims the exploding deficits "keep him up at night."

Funny. He seems well-rested to me.

I actually agree with him on this. If I recall, Moussavi actually started Hezbollah. So he's no american friendly moderate.

However, if the government goes kaput and they get rid of the mullahs, well, that's a whole different story

23 Everyone knows Obama's growth estimates are lies - no 4+% forever GDP growth is coming.  Maybe 2 or 2.5% over 5 years.

So this statement guarantees tax hikes, and its not even his fault - its the economy's fault!

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=akaJVOByDsHg

June 16 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama said he is “confident” that he won’t have to raise taxes on most Americans to close the budget deficit as long as the economy picks up steam.

“One of the biggest variables in this whole thing is economic growth,” the president said in an interview with Bloomberg News at the White House. “If we are growing at a robust rate, then we can pay for the government that we need without having to raise taxes.”

28 Well color me dense.  I finally figured it out.

Obama hasn't been saying much about the Iranian elections because how it is possible for anyone to question the results of a fraudulent election is a concept that is foreign to him.

He's probably questioning how, with the media fully in their camp, something like this could have possibly happened to the Iranian creepaucracy.

Yeah, there are real  problems with the youth there trying to live under a religious theocracy and simultaneously enjoy the freedoms that they see youth all over the world take for granted. This is great. Think about it.

1) Obama screws over the Iranian people; they hate him.
2) Obama is not let off the hook with the faux-reformer, Moussavi, to allow Iran to build nuclear weapons.
3) Obama is going to look weak in the United States when Iran builds bombs.

It's a lose-lose for Obama. We don't lose because Obama was going to allow Iran to build nukes, regardless of what puppet dictator was in control. At least now there will be hard feelings for Obama in Iran, the rest of the world, and in the U.S.

Thing is, I can't disagree with this, but he uses it as an excuse to do nothing instead of pushing a freedom-oriented agenda.  Sure Iranian elections are always rigged in the sense that the Guardian Council vets candidates, but within that zone, the Iranian people made a choice, and now even that is clearly not being respected.  I'm not saying that there are no enough hardliners to have given Achmadimadinnajecket a win, but not by that margin.
