Drudge has a link to this story On April 27, President Obama welcomed the University of Connecticut Lady Huskies, who had just won the NCAA women's basketball championship. Now we know why: Obama White House officials decided to do their own media report on the visit, complete with cuts, interviews, and chyrons identifying who's speaking. First, why does Barry need his own media reports when the press gives him nothing but slobbering reviews? Second, what's the deal with this douche bag and logos? Happy Memorial Day to all the Vets here. And thank you for your service. Its a damned dirty shame the America so many died to preserve is dissolving like an Alka Seltzer before our eyes, and with the approval of an ignorant ,stupid, and shiftless populace, save for those folks who post here and those like them, sadly in the minority these days. I am sorry for my children, who will bear the burden of bringing freedom back to this country, or labor under the boot of a fascist or communist government. Fight or be enslaved. An old story, but still current. A day set aside to honor those who fought for freedom for a country who would throw their sacrifice away for a meager montly allowance will become a mockery. And to most Americans these days, just another three day weekend.

QuietMan - GVS had that on the end of her show last night. Not the actual "press release," just the story about The House providing its own final version of the "story." I really tried not to go all crazynuts about the implications, but it seems to me like The House is testing the waters. Start with an innocuous fluff-piece like Barry shooting hoops. See how the media outlets, and the public at large, respond. If they don't like it, because they see the implications of what this means, then respond with a cool command to chill out, because it is only a fluff piece. If they seem to accept this behaviour, then do it again with more fluff, and then slowly start building up to larger stories, slowly, until one day Americans wake up, and realize that your desired goal of controlling the media has already been implemented. I do not like this, Sam-I-Am. I do not like the Barry-Cam. The implications of this are ENORMOUS. Gone unfettered, expect the same quality "required cooperation" of the MSM that has already been coaxed out of banks. "You want access to the Barry-Cam, KDFW? Well, then, we need to have a little chat about what you ran last week regarding your local GM plant shutting down. We noticed a considerable lack of nuance. Just run this pre-written correction tomorrow morning, and you'll find your White House feed restored by noon..." *proceeds to pull several fistfulls of hair from his scalp* Posted by: reason at May 22, 2009 08:42 AM (q/kmn) 15

From an NYT article handwringing over the O's tack to the right with regard to Gitmo, tribunals, etc.
‘Pandora’s box’ “We knew we were inheriting a system that was not functioning,” Mr. Biden said. “We knew we were inheriting a system that was causing us great difficulty around the world.” But he suggested that the administration’s approach had been shaped by what it learned after taking office. “It’s like opening Pandora’s box here,” Mr. Biden said. “We don’t know what’s inside the box. Now we know a lot more than we did in January.” F-me, Joe, you don't say.
Leave it to Sheriff Joe to let the mask slip. Nuance is way over-rated. Earlier in the artilce the NYT chubbed up over O's ability to soar above the fray and educate us commoners and get his way. They cite the "race speech" and the "common ground" speech as the best evah. But you can't nuance black/white issues. Either abortion is bad and should be dramatically reduced or you don't have a problem with it...perhaps some, but not a lot of wiggle room exists. Either terrorists hate us and want to kill us regardless of how many mental hugs we send or they don't and we can end the WoT. Any argument can be nuanced to death in a classroom and O may be teh GOAT nuancer, but reality often has other ambitions. See religion of peace followers and 9-11 as exhibit A.

Laura Bush would have done something for those kids. Maybe she would have made their day and invited them to the luncheon with the Pittsburgh Steelers or to the basketball event with the lady basketball players. She would not have just turned them away kids sobbing, parent chaperones and teachers furious. You might all think this is small potatoes but it is significant. I mean these were little kids on a class trip, all excited and looking forward to the trip.

Not only moral equivalence. He does not even recognize the irony of protesting a "secret" nuclear program. Guess those joooos aren't nearly as clever as Tom Duby, seeing as how he knows about their top secret nuclear program. Also, isn't this the time that we are welcomed back to the multi-lateral world? Since France was the country that aided the development of Dimona, let's let them stand up and bitch and moan to the UN. A news photographer was on hand to record the image of Boyd standing at a makeshift rampart in helmet, body armor, red T-shirt and boxers emblazoned with the message: "I love NY." When the image wound up on the front page of the New York Times, Boyd told his parents he might lose his job if President Obama saw him out of uniform. "I can assure you that Specialist Boyd's job is very safe indeed," Gates said in the speech." Ever since I saw this story, I was afraid for Boyd. I knew he was simply trying to respond to the attack as quickly as possible, and although I am not a serviceman, I imagine that there are various Codes of Conduct that would not allow you to be seen in his condition in that photograph. Granted, it's not like he was out on the town pulling a prank, but engaged in a firefight, which I hoped would mean that his higher-ups would be understanding. I'm very relieved to read that this young man's courage and quick response were recognized, and not chastised. Posted by: reason at May 22, 2009 09:58 AM (5npD/) 85

OK, if you put the flyover thing together with the snub of the kindergartners you get a total mess. I mean, is no one willing to take any resonsibility in the WH. Heck, they could have had joe, or michelle or a senator or congressman take the kids on their tour and the prez could have popped in and the PR wouldn't look so bad. I mean NBC reported this, not Fox.

LOL, the idiots in the press are making a big deal out of Il Douche’s statement that Bush made a “hasty decision” to open GITMO in the first place trying to get avoid the American legal system.
I have yet to hear one of them make the obvious statement that he has a chance to fix that now AND NOT by closing GITMO. He can replace that asshole Souter with a real judge who believes in the real Constitution. Since the shit-stick ruling was 5-4 it can be reversed just by that one judge replacement. Obama vows not to send people to war without cause ANNAPOLIS, Md. – President Barack Obama is promising newly graduated Navy and Marine officers that he will only send young Americans into battle when "it is absolutely necessary" and when the mission is well-defined.
The implication, of course, is that Bush sent people to war without cause. Bush should make a challenge to Barry like Rush made to PMSNBC. Try and go a month without mentioning me. Posted by: TheQuietMan at May 22, 2009 10:07 AM (1Jaio) 94
wondering if they are doing their own PR and tapes of events the press isn't invited to so that they can charge the pres a fee for giving them the tape? Seems like they never miss a money making endeavor. Now, if the fee goes into the American coffers it is fine, if it goes into the future campaign fund some might have a problem with that.

I'm very relieved to read that this young man's courage and quick response were recognized, and not chastised. Academic question (Gabe? Anyone?): If he had been captured, would he be considered out of uniform? Given that he wasn't deliberately trying to fool anyone into thinking he was a civilian, merely foregoing some dressing up in order to get to the fight faster, would he be "okay" from a Geneva Convention perspective? Again, academic question since they bad guys here would probably just shoot you (or worse) in any case. Posted by: John at May 22, 2009 11:27 AM (TIomG) 109
If he had been captured, would he be considered out of uniform? I doubt it. The definition of uniform in the Conventions is about wearing identifying items--an arm ribbon, technically called a brassard worn by e.g. partisans at all times counts as a uniform for example. He was wearing an American helmet and flak jacket and (I'd assume) his dog tags, so that should be good enough. (Not that it would count with Tom's jihadi buddies anyway.) The concept of principles is apparently a little too advanced for this simian. --------------------------------------------- You, sir, are an asshole. In addition to being not very bright. You go right ahead and cling to those principles, dickweed. Me, I'd rather not have "At least he was true to his principles" on my tombstone--or millions of Israeli tombstones, as the case may be. You're OK with untold numbers of dead Jews? Now there's a principle for you. But then, it's not really about principles, is it? It never is with your type. It's about attacking the opposition and advancing The Agenda. Leftism uber alles, right? Those are your real principles. "Fair play", to you and your kind, means "whatever works." You're not fooling anyone. Not here, anyway. We know who and what you are. Allow me to conclude by saying F U, DUBYA. See? I can be a good leftist asshole, too! Cheney, the guy who claimed Saddam's WMD's were a CERTAINTY.
You mean the ones that Saddam ADMITTED having, in numerous reports given freely to the UN's inspection committees, yet couldn't account for the destruction of? Or the ones where he had the manufacturing equipment buried in the back yards of his top scientists? Or are you talking about the nerve agents that were buried in massive quantities on military bases, next to the empty mortar and shell delivery systems, just waiting for someone to mix-and-match? Or maybe you mean the hundreds of tons of uranium yellowcake (the first stage of nuclear weapons)? (Not to mention all the shit that he was quite obviously trying to keep away from those same UN inspection teams, such as blocking them at the front gate while trucks were loaded up and driven out the back gate.) Or maybe you misspelled "Clinton" (either of them), or many of the other Democrats in government in the late 90's/early 00's, because they, also, claimed Saddam's WMDs were a CERTAINTY. http://tinyurl.com/ponkm6 You'd be more fun if you weren't so easy. Posted by: Drumwaster at May 22, 2009 12:41 PM (Ymor3) 114
"But then, it's not really about principles, is it?" Sure it is....and you've already admitterd you have none 'I'd rather not have "At least he was true to his principles" No surprise. Having no principles is clearly a prerequisite for membership in the mindless, self absorbed wingnut chorus. Posted by: Tom Dubya at May 22, 2009 12:43 PM (a2h4u) 115
"You mean the ones that Saddam ADMITTED having, in numerous reports given freely to the UN's inspection committees, yet couldn't account for the destruction of?" Pretending that Cheney's claim that Saddam had WMD's in 2003 is proven by the fact that he had them in 1991? Some advice for pathological liars....try not to make it too obvious. Posted by: Tom Dubya at May 22, 2009 12:47 PM (a2h4u) 116
