| America's Most Infamous Gay-Marriage Opponent Under Increasing Pressure to Engage Gay IssuesSnark, again: We're talking about gay marriage opponent President Barack "Hope and Change" Obama. From the Drudge link, citing a coming NYT story: Marion Barry, by the way, says there could be a "civil war" over gay marriage, in the black community, because it's so unpopular there. I mention this, of course, because Obama's most fervent pillar of support is the black community. In related news, Andrew Sullivan was spotted gripping his knees and crying hysterically on the floor of his shower, like Glenn Close in The Big Chill. Comments1

The Nation of Islam has a rather prominent presence in Barry's part of town. I don't imagine they'll take kindly to gay gentrification on their turf.
I think it's reasonable to assume that there are no google earth searches of black ministers homes by gay activists, just "let's engage them in mutual understanding" I see Bravo commercials saying "fasion is the new black", referring to gays of course. Many blacks are highly offended by the "gay is the new black" slogans. Posted by: kbdabear at May 06, 2009 07:07 PM (93F13) 8

This is the best thing since sliced bread. Here in California, the overwhelming majority of Blacks and Latinos voted for proposition 8, defining marriage as between a man and a woman. The Southern California Gays went after the Mormon Church...it was easy, safe and politically correct (mostly white people). The shit is about to hit the fucking fan on this one. Blacks and Latinos may have to take a stand against this issue with the Gays. Jumpin Jesus this could turn into a "pass the popcorn" moment.

Maine's governor signed their gay marriage bill into law today. When pressed by Jake Tapper if Barry had a reaction, Dough Boy Gibbs restated the dirty little secret that liberals love to forget.
“No, I think the president’s position on same-sex marriage is — has been talked about and discussed,” Gibbs curtly replied. “He opposes same-sex marriage?” Tapper asked. “He supports civil unions,” Gibbs said, not really answering the question. Follow up “Does that mean that he’s going to say or do anything against what the citizens of Maine did — did today?” Tapper followed. “Not that I’m aware of,” Gibbs said. “I think the president believes this is an issue that’s best addressed by the states.” Posted by: Scout Finch at May 06, 2009 07:51 PM (UJIeT) 42

My miner took care of those thieving Rhesus Macaques in short order when I set him to hunt but the presence of a Kobold thief at my gates (well, the gaps where I plan on installing doors to become gates) has persuaded me it's time to get a bit more serious about defense. I drafted my first crossbowdwarf and have her stationed at the gate until my carpenter finishes training my first wardogs and my craftsdwarf makes some wood bolts. I still don't understand why the gay community is so aggressively inviting the Government into their lives.
What is the compelling government interest in gay "marriage"? The compelling government interests for straight marriage are maintaining a reasonable replacement ratio of future spear carriers and taxpayers, the establishment of a civic society through the nuclear family, and improving the public health through the management of genetic diversity and age requirements. None of these apply to homosexual relationships. For example, do the regulations on marriages between kin apply if two female first cousins want to marry? If so, why? Are there other public health concerns the government should be considering? Does the gay community even want to go there? What if Georgia approves gay marriage with a blood test for STDs? Another example, is age restrictions on marriage and their relationship to what society views as an acceptable relationship. Will the nation be comfortable when a liberal judge approves a marriage license for a 15 year old boy to "marry" a 19 year old man, what about a 45 year old man? Be careful with what you wish for, the government can be a very fickle bedfellow. Posted by: Jean at May 06, 2009 08:35 PM (xCBQ4) 72

There weren't a lot left over in Nazi Germany either, even though Hitler himself may have been a closet homosexual. Among the first to get killed when he took over were his former nazi comrades in the SA, aka the Brownshirts. The Brownshirt Nazis of Ernst Roehm (an openly gay man) had a large percentage of gays in their membership. Posted by: kbdabear at May 06, 2009 08:58 PM (93F13) 85

I really don't care what gays do in their bedrooms, I don't think the republic will fall if we have gay marriage, and I've heard all the long winded arguments
I voted for Prop 8 for one simple reason. I can't stand their goon tactics, their constant narcissistic "you must love us" attitude, and their fucking us over on other issues because we wouldn't cheer their parades. Gavin Newsome turned me against Prop 8, and Perez Hilton and his like insure that I'll vote against every other gay issue no matter how much propaganda the DemSM and Hollywood pump up my ass. I don't support this no holds barred anything goes YouTube what's the most shocking sexual thing you can do atmosphere. I don't know why, but there seems to be an inordinant amount of gays in healthcare, based on the population. I also dont give a shit what anybody else does, as long as it doesnt effect me. So, I have a lot of gay friends at work, of both sexes. I have done some informal polling about this subject with my gay friends at work, and they all say they dont care about the terminology, they would just like to enjoy the benefits of marriage. When I ask them about the possible downsides of a civil union, they answer that they are willing to take that risk. They dont really care what it's called. Some have also said they are afraid of the "slippery slope." They tend to be cagey about Perez Hilton and his buddies. Almost like they are afraid to call someone out.
