The Double Standard Of The Enchanted Media (tm)

Wouldn't it be more honest if they, with a few notable exceptions, just dropped to their knees when Obama walked in? That would more accurately reflect their worship and make it easier to service Him.

As long as their man is in the WH, they will have special dispensation, even if their profits dry up.

Does Drudge usually/sometimes change a link, yet keep the link name?  Last night the link "Rising Tensions" went to a Yahoo! News story about the Taliban and mentioned the beheading 2 security officers.  The story was a good snap shot of Pakistan right now.  Today the link goes to a different Yahoo! News story.  This piece is not nearly as good, indept, or anger inducing.

19 I think muffy probably has it right. I wouldn't be surprised (although I don't know) if Gibbs instituted some protocol rule regarding this.

For awhile, that nimrod Chuck Hagel had a similar rule...for his Senate staff. They had to stand at attention when he entered a room.

20

They weren't standing!  They, uh...just wanted to make sure that they got a good look at him, and he's taller than the rest of them.  So they had to stand up to see.  Shut up, that's what happened.

Plus, Helen Thomas ripped one, and you know how old-lady flatus is.  Hangs heavy in the air, and could kill your dog in a matter of seconds.  The only way to avoid succumbing to the vapors is to stand up, where the lighter, fresh air remains.

24 Here's an even better version of this video that truly captures the scope and depth of the media's love for their messiah. The look on Major Garrett's face when the One enter's the room is priceless. He look's as if Darth Vader just walked in when he was taking a dump and he had to pinch it off.

Usually when folk's stand up this fast they get light headed and see spot's.

Obama ripping into Gibb's however was priceless. He basically was calling him an incompetent dumbass.

They will probably roll it out in the next worshipful govelling session  press conference.

Yeah, the latest ridiculous variation I'm hearing about how liberal media bias is a myth, aside from the brilliant Eric Alterman "all the big media companies are owned by corporations and are therefore rightwing" theory, is that the media isn't biased because the vast majority of journalists self-identify as moderates.

Get that?  The journalists themselves say they're moderate, so they can't be exhibiting a liberal bias!

I personally have The Glock 22 .40 and it's an excellent and reliable weapon and can be had for relatively cheap. The Springfield XD's are also very fine pistol's. However .40 at this time ain't all that easy to obtain either at least where I'm at. Most of the ball ammo is out of stock, leaving high priced jhp's, which ain't all that econimically viable to shoot at the range.

I really do want to know.  Because if it is the press corp just acting of their own volition in both cases, this is really outrageously telling.  If they are responding to the rules as laid down by each respective president,  not so much. (well, it tells us that Bush was casual and Obama is a pedantic egotist with dictatorial tendencies and is riddled with NPD. )

I can't explain how much I just don't get this.  To me, it's like someone picked somebody living on my block at random, and then put him up there, and we were all supposed to fall on our knees.  Whatever the spell is, I'm just impervious to it, apparently.

I'm beginning to think - and just beginning, mind you, because I never liked this theory - that there may be something to the idea that people who have rejected religion need something to take its place.

The same dynamic was at work at the UN, remember? Bush went there to give a speech and got a very tepid response. He was followed by Robert Mugabe, the madman butcher of Zimbawe, who got something like three standing ovations and thunderous applause. This violates UN protocol, to boot. You're not supposed to give standing ovations to anybody.

Rules, decorum, protocol, all these things only apply when you can demand them from your opponents for your own political gain.

They are so firmly in control of the cultural organs that serve as arbiters in the finer points of etiquette and protocols that nothing exists to call them on it. That's how far things have slid over to them culturally.

The Western elite is free to nakedly adore their enchanted ones and undermine their despised ones. Anybody with eyes can see it from miles away, it's obvious to a child.

AND YOU STILL HAVE TO ARGUE THIS POINT TO THEM, AS THEY SIT SMUGLY, INWARDLY LAUGHING AT YOUR PREDICAMENT THE WHOLE TIME.

57, the White House does not need the whole White House Press Corps to do their bidding. They just need a key few they can count on. Hell, they just the guy in the pack from the New York Times to tell you the truth.

You should see the groupthink at work in the national press corps, it's amazing to behold up close. Only a couple guys on the press bus set the agenda for all other reporters on board. When something comes up, and one of those guys renders an opinion, it is echoed across the stories that all the rest of them file. And these leaders of the pack are extremely liberal people who are not reflective of the views of the average American. They are instead hostile towards those views. Diversity? Forget about it.

You get one of two of those guys to do your bidding and you've got them all doing it. How do standing ovations start? One or two guys stand up clapping, everybody else winds up following suit because, well, it just seems impolite not to and who wants to be impolite?

If you get the New York Times guy writing about how those secured bond holders over at Chrysler are a bunch of greedy bastards who stomp on baby chickens every paper in the nation will cover the story on those terms, and all the talking heads on the news channels will be debating things on those terms.

Because they are all a bunch of weak-willed followers who like to debate the take, not the facts.

Posted by: Bill D. Cat at May 04, 2009 03:05 PM (d0YiG)

81 Ref Guns and Ammo.

We're living in the "expansion" part of a classic bubble when it comes to guns and ammo. Just like residential real estate in 2004-2006. Just wait* for the bubble to pop and you'll be able to buy all the guns and ammo you want at post-bubble prices.

Of course, then you won't want them anymore.

That's how bubble/bust psychology works.

Would you like some tulips?

*I have no particular time-frame prediction. However, if you hear that ammo manufacturers are buying new ammo-making machines, that's a big tip off. Ammo plants are now running 24/7. I'm sure the only reason they haven't already expanded is that they don't want to risk the capital in buying new machines and then have those stand idle and useless when the bubble pops.

@73, Derak,

Good point, this would be nice to know for context. I have a feeling that it is very telling, however.

@74, Alana,

I have always felt the left practices liberalism very much like a religion, and I believe this is part of the explanation as to why they are so emotional when you take issue with some political point of theirs. You are attacking them and their entire belief system/religion personally as far as they are concerned. You don't just disagree politically, you are evil.

And it also explains in part why they are so intransigent and stubborn. You could show them a video of Obama or just about any other leftist doing something horrendous and they would contort themselves like pretzels to defend it. Example: Obama says he does not support gay marriage. Hear no evil, see no evil from liberals. The only sound is crickets. Miss California says the same thing. Perez Hilton throws a hissy fit. You do not see this type of hypocrisy with conservatives nearly as much.

Example: Today there is a video of a police officer who fails to provide 911 assistance to a girl whose father tokk a bad fall. On the face of it, a liberal would think readers of this site would reflexively defend a cop - a representative of the law and order establishment. Check out the video and read the comments and see for yourself.
