| Napolitano Blames Entry Of 9/11 Hijackers On.....CanadaApparently "smart diplomacy" means suck up to enemies and needlessly piss off friends. The furor began when Napolitano was asked to clarify statements she had made about equal treatment for the Mexican and Canadian borders, despite the fact that a flood of illegal immigrants and a massive drug war are two serious issues on the southern border. "Yes, Canada is not Mexico, it doesn't have a drug war going on, it didn't have 6,000 homicides that were drug-related last year," she said. "Nonetheless, to the extent that terrorists have come into our country or suspected or known terrorists have entered our country across a border, it's been across the Canadian border. There are real issues there." When asked if she was referring to the 9-11 terrorists, Napolitano added: "Not just those but others as well.".One, tiny, small, little problem. It's not what one might call strictly accurate. In the weeks after the attacks, investigators established that all of the hijackers entered the United States from countries other than Canada, a finding that got the official stamp last summer with the release of the Sept. 11 commission reportAdd this to the whole, verterans are a major security threat and the fact she didn't seem to know illegal immigration was, um, illegal and it's becoming pretty clear that Napolitano is one dumb bitch. I thought Obama's visit to Ottawa went too smoothly. Obama told Napolitano he was just going to Iowa, so she didn't object. Thanks for stealing my joke, buster! And it's always funny, Filly, when our liberal MSM that supports Democrats in your election years, has to attack the guys they supported to defend socialist Canada or just to continue pushing their usual anti-American agenda (that's the same as your leftist media members' and academics' agenda). They're still blowing Obama, however, because his race covers for his (alleged) nationality and position and even using his "style" to attack moderate conservative PM, Stephen Harper. In fact, the virulently anti-American Toronto Star had a huge O photo on their front page just a few days ago. (Fortunately, with his shirt on this time, unlike the Hawaiian "dying grandma plus vacation" beach pic that they also ran big on the front page.) Re. the border issue, as I commented in the Headlines thread, her wanting to treat the Canadian border more seriously would be commendable if it weren't for the fact she and the Dems don't care about the Mexican border unless it's to push the new false meme about U.S. firearms causing drug wars etc. in Mexico. And even if you think the hoser border is a bad risk that needs more policing, you can still push to your liberal family members or co-workers etc. that Napolitano is picking a fight with "kind, anti-gun, peaceful, 'free' healthcare, socialist Canada" that Dems usually point to as a model for America to emulate and she's pissing on them. How is that leadership or the politics of inclusion, unlike that "cowboy" Bush? Posted by: andycanuck at April 22, 2009 11:44 AM (vulJH) 51

No. 46: I prefer "breathtakingly ignorant" because the word "stupid" implies a genetically sourced lack of intellect that one is stuck with, while ignorant specifies a lack of knowledge (and experience) that could be overcome. Thus stupidity is a condition, ignorance is chosen. It is much easier, for me, to hate and vilify the ignorant.

Those wondering how she got elected Governor, it's quite simple - she wasn't this bad. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. She was well known unlike her Republican challenger and her following one, both of whom did little to get their face out there. I wouldn't be surprised if half the people who voted for her challenger never even knew what he looked like, or at least couldn't pick them out from a lineup. She wasn't bad, and I'm as conservative as they come. She was fiscally responsible, unlike now, she was for tax cuts, maybe reluctantly, but she was, she wasn't a complete idiot, like now. She was vehemently against enforcing laws against illegal immigration, that was really about the worst, and made some people wonder what Obama was smoking when he chose her as DHS(OH YEAH! COCAINE!). As for John McCrap, I wasn't sure before, but to my knowledge, he always comes out ahead when the primary ticket is split too much. Luckily this time around he may lose because he didn't break 50% in the Republican Presidential primaries here.

More from canadian National Post editorial today - the response of Napolitano is classic when called on her stupidity -- why isn't the American media reporting on his AT ALL?
Can someone please tell us how U. S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano got her job? She appears to be about as knowledgeable about border issues as a late-night radio call-in yahoo. In an interview broadcast Monday on the CBC, Ms. Napolitano attempted to justify her call for stricter border security on the premise that "suspected or known terrorists" have entered the U. S. across the Canadian border, including the perpetrators of the 9/11 attack. All the 9/11 terrorists, of course, entered the United States directly from overseas. The notion that some arrived via Canada is a myth that briefly popped up in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, and was then quickly debunked. Informed of her error, Ms. Napolitano blustered: "I can't talk to that. I can talk about the future. And here's the future. The future is we have borders." Just what does that mean, exactly? Just a few weeks ago, Ms. Napolitano equated Canada's border to Mexico's, suggesting they deserved the same treatment. Mexico is engulfed in a drug war that left more than 5,000 dead last year, and which is spawning a spillover kidnapping epidemic in Arizona. So many Mexicans enter the United States illegally that a multi-billion-dollar barrier has been built from Texas to California to keep them out. In Canada, on the other hand, the main problem is congestion resulting from cross-border trade. Not quite the same thing, is it? @91 John McCain was the best when he was originally elected, I guess. I wasn't old enough to vote when he first moved here to run. And Napolitano was known, the original challenger had absolutely no "name power" or recognition. She was the Attorney General before Governor and I guess that helped her out a bit, or something. Still not someone I'd ever vote for.

Informed of her error, Ms. Napolitano blustered: "I can't talk to that. I can talk about the future. And here's the future. The future is we have borders." Just what does that mean, exactly? That means that Present Obama, Rom and the gang are discussing how to tear down our borders behind closed doors. When she got flustered she immediately went into denial about something we don't even know about yet. Posted by: Captain Ahab at April 22, 2009 12:29 PM (ewXBY) 116

I guess that means she's a rug muncher with no rugs to munch. She's also the one who was trying to screw over Clarence Thomas during the Anita Hill horseshit. I remember her from that. The chick that was supposedly the main witness, said she saw CT harassing AH during a time prd when they weren't even working together. Yes Bill, many of us here are surprised and disappointed about how uninformed our DHS Secretary is as well.Actually, we aren't surprised anymore. Once you realize you're dealing with someone dumber than a box of rocks, you get used to this kind of thing. "I can't talk to that. I can talk about the future. And here's the future. The future is we have borders." - Napolitano's "response?" Ok, we have a situation here... she appears to be off her meds and speaking irrationally. Does anyone have a couple Thorazine tablets, and some Prozac, and about two tabs of LSD? "I can talk about the future. And here's the future. The future is we have borders." I am thankful that the Obama Administration is so hyper-intelligent that it can see into the future and bring back the knowledge it gleans for us mere mortals. I know Janet must have just read the report summary but I hope she finishes it soon so she can explain this strange concept of "borders" to us. It'd be nice to understand what a "border" is before it happens to us. 133 Bush tried to surround himself with smart people. Since Barry thinks he's the smartest man in the world, he has to surround himself with assholes, in order to look smart. Yeah, as someone who is actually extremely intelligent, Obama strikes me as someone slightly above average in intelligence who's always been told and has come to believe that he was the smartest person ever. I've been around a lot of people like that and one thing is they always surround themselves with idiots so they never have to deal with the reality that they aren't so smart. If they do use actual intelligent people they put them out of their league, Chu at Energy, Clinton (for the sake of argument) at State, Geithner (from what I can tell he is smart, just not a leader) at Treasury. The real question is "How did she get elected governor in AZ?" OK, how did McLame get elected in AZ? #76 Those wondering how she got elected Governor, it's quite simple - she wasn't this bad. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. ThatOneGuyWhoSaidThis at April 22, 2009 12:03 PM That is not a fucking fact. I'm sorry, I can't let that post pass unremarked. Yes, she was that bad when she was here. She got this state in so much financial crap with the spending she kept pushing. She was BFF with Michael Crow of ASU, and saw to it that they got millions in capital funds and raises for her boy. She pushed the all day kindergarden which added millions to the school budgets against all studies which showed no improvement in school scores - essentially school day care. She pushed through unsustainable spending growth everywhere, then skipped out to D.C. leaving us holding an empty bag. Yeah, and I blame the Republicans, too. In a state where Republican registration far exceeds Dem, Matt Salmon wasted 2 visits by Pres. Bush and frickin' lost in '06. The Republican bench out here is thin, plus they can't campaign their way out of a paper bag. Just pray for the safety of the citizens of our country.

Yes, she was. As much as I don't like her and stated her vehement disagreement on illegal immigration and that bs, she wasn't that bad. Because of her policies being driven illegal immigration, she did spend more, but she could've been worse all around and for that reason I give her a slight pass. She could've gone without putting troops on the border, sending the ones from NM over here possibly, she could've tried harder to stop the E-Verify system and accompanying the stricter regulations on hiring illegals. She had a chance to push that off, but decided not to and change the stuff later to allow hospitals and others a little leeway. And yeah, Republicans were just as responsible for letting some of this stuff happen.
And you proved my point that those running against Napolitano weren't noticeable, Matt Salmon was the GOP Chair, Len Munsil was the candidate(admittedly, I had to look that up too). Posted by: ThatOneGuyWhoSaidThis at April 22, 2009 04:28 PM (o3/mB) 185

ThatOneGuyWhoSaidThis at April 22, 2009 04:28 PM She was forced into accepting E-Verify because the legislature passed a law over her head that imposed penalties, including loss of licensure. The Governor's position in AZ is not as strong as other states. And she didn't put active troops on the border, she sent minimal National Guard down there to do vehicle maintenance and support services for the Border Patrol. Glad you can afford to give her a slight pass when the state is $3 billion in the hole. That's very kind of you. She helped break the economy here to what it is today: Dead in the water. Posted by: Paulie in AZ at April 22, 2009 05:07 PM (WueVH) 187
It went over her head? Well, I remember reading an article on it all where she said she'd sign the bill, allow it to active, but later decide how to deal with hospitals.
The fact troops were there at all was good, she could've just said "No." And as for the deficit, can you remind me, who can legislate what goes in and what comes out of a budget? As far as I can remember, it's the legislature that can vote stuff in, vote stuff out, and it was Republicans who have almost a veto-proof majority(or at least they did relatively recently). Apparently he was afraid that someone might take away his "Stupidest Arizonan Person*" statuette. *SAP: "Hey, my media pals said they came from Canada; it must be true." This always cracks me up. "We're not blindly patriotic - we don't hate all Americans - just those gun-packing, bible-toting, ignorant evil racist Rethuglicans. We're okay with the good Americans, and to show it we're going to... whine about them screwing us again. --Whadya mean, our "good guys" hate us? We're brothers; we both hate the same people, right? - so that can't be possible." Posted by: Lark at April 24, 2009 11:17 PM (nuUga) Posted by: asdasd at May 05, 2009 04:21 PM (b8qeU) 194
