| Obama's Version of Fiscal ResponsibiityAn analogy to drive home how weak this silly shit is: To put those numbers in perspective, imagine that the head of a household with annual spending of $100,000 called everyone in the family together to deal with a $34,000 budget shortfall. How much would he or she announce that spending had be cut? By $3 over the course of the year--approximately the cost of one latte at Starbucks. The other $33,997? We can put that on the family credit card and worry about it next year. Comments1
hey, i think we did a pretty good job fleshing out the silliness right here in the comments of Drew's thread earlier. i'm just sayin'

But Obama is cutting the budget just like the rednecks at the tea parties said they wanted. If they aren't on board now, it must be racism.

Stagflation is a rare economic anomaly. Looks like we are going to get another practical example to ignore in future years.

In a saner world, this would be mocked. But, I suspect, the coverage will be about how wonderful this is.

BTW Ace,
Any more pics of the Tea Party Babe in the 3-cornered hat? Posted by: EC at April 20, 2009 12:25 PM (mAhn3) 10
What Ace seems to be missing here is that the other $33,997 will be used to create wealth in the house. How? Simple: by going green. If that $34K is going to good use such as solar panels, a windmill for the backyard, CFL lightbulbs, and a water-saving washing machine, they'll be saving money in no time. Before you know it, that household is saving $2,000/yr in expenses, which will pay down the $35K @ 15% apr in, say, 100 years. Let's put it in terms we morons can understand.
If Megyn Kelly were to reduce herspectacular and now milkytee-tas by the same proportion that Baracky wants to reduce the budget, she would have pull a tiny blond whisper of a hair off one of her glorious areolas. Posted by: gator at April 20, 2009 12:27 PM (UIfCq) 13

Slightly OT:
On our local Fox news, there was a package done by the network regarding green jobs. Prez for Life Hussein was going on and on how we should be like Spain, etc. They then had on the expert that did the report on Spain that claimed every green job in Spain caused 2.2 regular jobs to disappear. And that 1 in 10 green jobs are only temporary. I don't doubt that this is true, since we had this information several weeks ago. I'm just shocked that the Fox Network (which locally does all kinds of "E" reporting) actually had the guts to point this out. Thank your for your time, and please return to your regularly scheduled programming. Posted by: shibumi at April 20, 2009 12:34 PM (OKZrE) 18
But if you spend an additional $15,000 on health care that will save $14.

Obama's moronic rant just now:
Extraordinary steps to shore financial system and deal with unprec economic crisis. so we had to spend money - recovery act, lay foundation for long term, also in order to make sure strong enough to lend banks. right and necessary however moving forward, we have an obligation, to make sure that this govt is as efficient as possible and every taxpayer dollar spend wisely.. biden doing great on rrecovery act unprec transp and effectiveness....many agencies extraordinary steps to vets - cancel conf, save 20 mil do some office bullshit, save 62 million dhs - 52 million saved via office supplies. bob gates did "historic" budget proposal - "procurement reform" none of these by themselves will solve long term fiscal issues - but sends signal we are serious asking cabinent to id at least 100 million more in cuts...separate from orzag's "programmatic" cuts....in the next week, cut at least 100 programs to free up dollars to put them to use in health care, energy, foreign policy apparatus... a deficit, confidence gap exists re govt - got to earn trust - i have every confidence my team will deliver efficiency and productivity "start setting a tone" What a freaking moron. Note that the cuts arent to reduce the deficit - they are to "free up dollars to put them to use" on his fucked up spending agenda. OT: Ace - maybe you could start a thread on the ridiculousness of these bank stress tests (the fact that the idiot administration didn't consider the harmthatthese"test"would do in terms of the market)- as that, plus the potential for bank nationalization in the bailed out banks (government possiblyconverting from preferred stock to common)is resulting in a freefall today on Wall Street. Stocks have fallen 250 points.

My usual SBUX order: Venti Americano. No room, thanks. Immediately upon serving, the lid is popped off and the entire contents are guzzled. I then look at the nearest quibbling pansy who happens to be staring at me, and while maintaining eyelock, I give a small grunt and push a full 5:00 Shadow out of my facial follicles.

Well, since we're rehashing another thread...
MC: "Introducing, new at the Starlight Lounge-a-rama Coconut Shack and Dinner Theater of Pahrump, the fabulous comedy sensation from Chicago, St. Barry Hussein O'Guiltwhite! How about a hand for the fella!" (tepid applause from the small audience) BHO: "Thank you ladies and oppressive sexists, thank you! I just flew in from Caracas, and boy are my arms buffed!" (silence) BHO: "But seriously folks, a doctor gave a man six months to live. The man couldn't pay his bill, so the doctor gave him another six months of government healthcare." (silence) BHO: "You sure are a tough audience, but fair, ya know? A bum asked a fellow, "Give me $10 till payday." The fellow responded, "When's payday?" The bum said, "Everyday is payday when Barack is President!" (silence, audience begins to file out of the small theater) BHO: "I gotta tell ya, Bush stole all my credit cards, but I won't be reporting it. The commander-in-thief spends less than my wife did." BHO: "Hello, is this thing on?" Posted by: George Orwell at April 20, 2009 01:57 PM (AZGON) 40
