| Obama really loves his pizza. How much does Obama love his pizza? So much that he is willing to fly a chef 860 miles to Washington D.C. to make him a personal pizza. When you're the president of the United States, only the best pizza will do - even if that means flying a chef 860 miles. Chris Sommers, 33, jetted into Washington from St Louis, Missouri, on Thursday with a suitcase of dough, cheese and pans to to prepare food for the Obamas and their staff. He had apparently been handpicked after the President had tasted his pizzas on the campaign trail last autumn.Hey, you guys know what says you are really sincere about this whole Global Warming thing that you want to use to justify an economy crushing cap and trade program? Jetting a dude across the country to make you a freaking pie. And you know what says you have a real solid handle on the economic concerns of citizens who are struggling through the recession? Jetting a dude across the country to "hand toss your dough". It's not as if you can't get pizza in Washington. I know. I eat at Armand's Chicago Pizzeria a lot. It's pretty damn good. And conveniently located on Capitol Hill! I even saw Joe Biden there once. So, you know, you could probably get directions. Now, granted, the good folks at Armand's probably don't make the "Hyde Park" (a special Obama pizza topped with chicken and hot sauce) but they are willing to work with you on the toppings. If you are looking for something with a little zing, I would recommend the "Sgt. Pepper". But then you would expect that from a Beatles fan. I am disappointed in one thing, though. If you are gonna fly a chef nearly 2000 miles round trip to make you some specialty pizzas, shouldn't you have gone the whole nine yards and asked for arugula? Or is that a sacrifice you are making for the "common good"? If so, Courage, little buckeroo. Courage. An afterthought: You know, Democrats, Obama is the head of your party. You freaking own him. So I don't want to see you lecturing the CEO's of bailout companies about using private jets to petition the government, when your guy is jetting dudes across the country to make him a few slices of 'Za. Why? If I may modify a riff from Jeff Goldstein: "BECAUSE OF THE PIZZA!" Comments1

Why am I not surprised? He keeps the Oval Office warm enough to "grow orchids." He flies to Denver to set up a desk on a stage to sign a piece of paper. He parties every Wednesday night, bringing in guests from God-knows-where. Yes, he is the epitome of the liberal who wants to cap the lifestyle of everyone else, while continuing to live the comp-life on the taxpayers' dime. A true piece of shit, but we already knew that. The truly disgusting thing here is that the left (and some "conservatives" in the "new majority") stays silent, except when they defend him. Fuck them with a rusty tire iron turned sideways.

Speaking of the Obama Administration being douchebags, see below. Sigh. Both the nations would prefer a full-blown resolution, but the U.S. worries it could take too long and believes that a statement read aloud by the 15-nation council's monthly revolving president would still provide the necessary legal teeth, council diplomats said. Japan also wants a resolution to specifically name about 10 companies believed to be helping enable North Korea to carry out its missile testing, but the U.S. worries that vetting those companies' names could take too long and the council would be better off to let a sanctions committee do that work later, the diplomats said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the discussions. The council's five permanent members — the U.S., Britain, France, China and Russia, known as the "P-5" — abruptly broke up after meeting with Japan for about 45 minutes on Thursday night. Most ambassadors and their aides scurried out and offered few remarks. "The work continues and we'll keep you posted," U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice said and then rushed out. Japanese Ambassador Yukio Takasu called it a "productive" meeting but declined to elaborate. "I'm encouraged that we decided to continue the consultations," he said. "We're making an effort." Since Sunday's emergency council session, the P-5 plus Japan have met three times without reaching agreement on how to proceed. There was no word Thursday night when those nations or the broader council might reconvene. Posted by: Anti-Harkonnen Freedom Fighter at April 10, 2009 10:09 AM (5r0Tz) 85

He's only making 20 pizzas though. How is that going to feed 140? O, ye of little faith. And Obama departed from thence, and came nigh unto the river of Potomac; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, readers of the New York Times, and many others, and cast them down at Obama's feet; and he reassured them: Insomuch that the media wondered, when they saw the dumb to get dumber, the New York Times readers to remain ignorant, the lame to get lamer, and the blind to lead the blind: and they glorified the One of Oprah. Then Obama called his thugs unto him, and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three months, and have nothing to eat except arugala: and I will not send them away peckish, lest they eat fast food in the way. And his thugs say unto him, "Whence should we have so much gourmet Whole Foods ingrediants in the whole of the city, as to fill so great a multitude?" And Obama saith unto them, "How many pizzas can ye fly in from St. Louis?" And they said, "Twenty, with chicken and hot sauce." And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the folding chairs. And he took the twenty pizzas with chicken and hot sauce, and gave thanks to himself, and sliced them with a pizza cutter, and gave to his thugs, and the thugs to the multitude, after taking their cut. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the uneaten crusts that was left seven white house dog dishes full. And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children and transgenders and transsexuals and queer and questioning and bisexual and insecure chicks who experiment with lesbianism to get attention. And he sent away the multitude, and turned up the thermostat, and counted the money from his book deal. Posted by: Kim Jong Il's teleprompter at April 10, 2009 10:21 AM (T0NGe) 100
Domino’s pizza sucks. I wouldn’t feed it to a dead dog………
I guess it’s OK for El Duce though. So OK, he should have called Domino’s. Posted by: Vic at April 10, 2009 09:18 AMDomino's is like the McDonalds of pizza. You get it to satisfy the kids when they're screaming for pizza, or you're out on the road and need one delivered to your motel room. That St. Louis pie must be some good sxxt. I'm sure that the White House kitchen could whip up some "beyond gourmet" pies for Zero's late night cravings. He's a typical pansy. The only kind of pizza is NY style. Besides cheese maybe you put mushrooms or sausage or pepperoni on it. You don't put chicken or arugula or ham and pineapple or truffles on it. He probably puts ketchup on a hot dog too, like a freakin' 3 year old. He's from fxxking CHICAGO for gawdssakes. He probably eats that backwards lasagne-looking crap in a pan with a knife and fork. My choice for pizza is simple: extra pepperoni, extra mushrooms (better be fresh, bitch!) and extra cheese. I have to get that veggie or chicken stuff for the fiancee. 517 Surveying his demesnes, The One's terrible gaze lighted upon the Pie of the Private Sector and he saw that the Pie was divided into many slices, some large and some small. The One spake, and declared this to be " uhhm-ahh-unfair".
518 Then did He set about to lift His mighty foot (clad in the socks he would strew about the abode of the Gilded Sasquatch) and stomp the Pie of the Private Sector into the dust so that there would be no more slices, some large and some small. 519 At first, the people cried out, bewailing the destruction of their slices but The One was not moved. For He saw the people scrambling in the dirt for the crumbs and that all of the crumbs were equally small. This he declared to be a good thing and He called it CHANGE. 520 Then did the people send the gilded tongued Osegueda as their emissary to grovel at the strewn-sock clad feet of The One. For Osegueda was a learned man having kenned the arts of rhetoric at Edison State and renowned for his skill at the Fry-O-Lator. 521 "Oh Blessed One!", mouthbreathed Osegueda, "I rejoice in your destruction of the unfair Slices and bow in obeisance to your mighty foot! I beseech thee to turn thy stupendous ear (like a radio observatory dish) and hear my plea. The crumbs that I am able to scrounge from the dirt are pleasingly uniform in size but one crumb is too small to sustain me and I am not willing to scrounge for more. " 522 The One listened to Osegueda's plea and heard the truth in his words. He then revealed Himself to Osegueda and the full glory of His benevolence and foresightedness. For, The One and his minions Pelosi and Obey had prepared a special Pie for the Oseguedans. 523 "Behold!", thundered The One, "Here is the new Pie I have caused to come forth from the hellish kitchens of Congress! It is a rhubarb pie and it is unsweetened because I still contest the Cane people of Brazil and will not divert precious corn from the Ethanol factories and Certified Organic strawberries simply cannot be had in such great quantities as I require. You and your people may partake of this Pie, as reward for your loyalty and fecklessness." 524 The hossannas sung by the Oseguedans when His minions began to ration out slivers of the bitter rhubarb pie pleased Him greatly. He saw that the Slices were, in theory at least, uniformly small and named this new Government Pie HOPE. Posted by: Deety at April 10, 2009 10:25 AM (1jglO) 102

Looks like the taxpayers aren't paying for it:
http://www.bnd.com/336/story/722087.html ST. LOUIS -- Owners of a St. Louis restaurant called Pi are visiting the White House Friday to prepare a pizza meal for President Obama and his family. Restaurant owner Chris Sommers says Pi's chefs got a chance to make pizza for Obama last October when he was in town for a rally at the Gateway Arch. Reggie Love, now a top aide to the president, called Sommers and the then-senator got on the phone to say the pizza was the best he'd ever eaten. The White House communications office on Wednesday confirmed the visit. Sommers says he is picking up the expenses. He previously made a Broccoli O'Bama pie and plans to make a new spicy chicken Hyde Park pizza for the occasion. Makes good business sense, from Sommer's POV. Sort of reminds me of what I'd heard about Ian Fleming: he'd had middling sales for the James Bond books until JFK said he liked them. Fleming became a bestseller overnight. Looks like a small business sucess story in the making! Yall have a pleasant day. Posted by: J.D. Rhoades at April 10, 2009 12:08 PM (uFVYN) 148

But anyone on our side gets lectured or vilified on a continual basis by whiny liberals for just this type of thing. So let them own it and squirm. And by the way, for leftists isn't hypocrisy the third greatest sin it's possible for a person to commit (behind racism and sexism)? You would hope these liberals would think about this type of thing just a little and then have the grace to stfu a little bit when someone not in their good graces gets caught in one of these stupid situations. But no, for them, there are always two sets of rules. A bunch of whiny, hypocritical twits. Posted by: RM at April 10, 2009 12:11 PM (1kwr2) 150
59 I'd like to believe this will cause outrage, but it won't. The man has the protection of the media, which is why he feels free to do things like this. Well, good. Glad we're not paying for it. Now, I suppose you'll find a way to spin the egregious hypocrisy of Obama calling for a 1600-mile round trip to get pizza in light of his preaching on the sins of American consumption. After all, it wasn't that long ago that he lectured us: "“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK..." But asking a personal chef to fly 800+ miles for a snack? No problem. Posted by: Slublog at April 10, 2009 12:19 PM (qjKko) 153

It's not as if you can't get pizza in Washington. I know. I eat at Armand's Chicago Pizzeria a lot.
And it isn't as if the resident kitchen staff can't make pizza. If they can't make it from scratch, they should be fired on the spot. If I can make pizza from scratch - and I have - they certainly can. They have culinary degrees. Me? not so much. Posted by: I R A Darth Aggie at April 10, 2009 02:17 PM (1hM1d) 171

Also, more than one helicopter. And not just the limo but multiple cars. In short, transporting the President anywhere requires a lot of fuel and resources. So, perhaps a President who lectures to us about doing with less etc. might take that into consideration. See the thing is Bush never lectured us about our consumption while conspicuously consuming to his heart's content. We call that there hypocrisy on the planet I'm from. That's the kind of lifestyle appropriate for someone devoid of professional achievement and routinely advertising a rank ignorance of history and economics. After reading the straight facts I can't help but ponder how those so concerned with global warming assume that everyone assumed that the fellow was in a private jet.
I also find it rather hilarious, actually, that so long as carbon credits are purchased that Virtue has been purchased as well. Anyone with the ability to think logically understands that paying for an indulgence doesn't mean that a sin never happened. The acres of rain forest could be planted *and* the jetting about could be forgone, *both* and instead of gaining nothing at all, some good might have been done for the earth. The moral reasoning of purchasing offsets and credits is flawed but no one cares because all they care for is the purchase of Virtue in order to show off, no actual benefit to the world is necessary compared to the personal benefit of faux holiness. At least we admit when we are wrong. This is one thing that is glaringly absent from the left's mindset. Yes, I can see why that would amuse you so. I guess you would consider it more rational to continue with the false story forever, as those on the left have done for years. "Facts? Fuck the facts! As usual you do not have the facts straight. And of course I know you will not post this. You only post from people with poddy mouths or that can't spell. Well here are the facts:
In fact, Chris Sommers flew commercial.
Not only that, he flew coach.
Not only that, he had already planned a business trip to DC, so the restaurant paid for his travel!
John also told me that Chris Sommers is one of the most dedicated people he knows to the environmental cause. In fact, his restaurant buys carbon credits from a wind farm in Colorado. Not only that, they recycle about 75% of their waste. Not only that, John himself is going into the green building business. You couldn't find a worse case for environmental hypocrisy. Finally, Barack Obama isn't saddling the American taxpayer with the tab for this feast. He's picking up the tab, for local ingredients, out of his own pocket. Nice attempt at manufacturing some bogus outrage, but unfortunately for your attempts to look all "man of the people" here, Chris Sommers was going to be in DC on separate business of his own, his restaurant paid for his ticket on the commercial flight, and the pizza was just something he agreed to do while he was there - like when you ask somebody who's in the kitchen to get themselves a snack to grab you a drink out of the fridge. You guys need to get your facts straight. Chris Sommers, owner of Pi, admitted on GMA this morning that his trip was already planned prior to the the president's request. The business paid for all of his his travel expenses not taxpayers. The pizzas were prepared at the White House as a security precaution. I think there are many other things happening in this world to be concerned about than a made up "Pizzagate."

Hey morons, that would be those of you who take this blog as 100% truth. Obama didn't fly anyone in. The chef was going to a business meeting in D.C., he flew coach, and his restaraunt paid for it. The money for the ingredients? Yeah, Obama is paying for that out of his own pocket. Get your facts straight before blogging garbage like this. In fact its probably just best to turn off your computer and never use it again.

Nice little spin job. Except factually the author is way off base on this one.
1) He flew coach, and was coming to D.C. on business anyhow. 2) Ingredients were bought LOCALLY, at the personal expense of President Obama. Nice try Repug. Posted by: Tony P at April 11, 2009 11:59 AM (aM+qO) 259

All this bluster and faux anger over very little:
http://digg.com/d1oQiv Apparently, there is no story small enough for the right to try and discredit the President with. Prominent conservative blog Ace of Spades really lays into Barack Obama for, of all things, ordering pizza. I wish I was kidding. Unfortunately, he left out some important facts. Here's the thrust of Ace of Spades' Pizza-Gate: What a douchetool. He had apparently been handpicked after the President had tasted his pizzas on the campaign trail last autumn. Hey, you guys know what says you are really sincere about this whole Global Warming thing that you want to use to justify an economy crushing cap and trade program? Jetting a dude across the country to make you a freaking pie. He goes on to suggest that Obama is flouting the recession with this extravagance, and suggests a local pizzeria for the President to use. This is stupid on its face, but when I actually called Chris Sommers' restaurant, Pi, it got so much worse for Ace's scandal. I spoke with the restaurant's manager, John Fitzgerald, and he gave me some things that we call "facts," ones that cast Sommers' trip in an entirely different light. The best one is the first: Ace of Spades slammed Obama's environmental cred for "jetting in" Pi's chef, making it seem as though the guy was hopping a private gulfstream, or worse, partying down on Air Force One. * In fact, Chris Sommers flew commercial. * Not only that, he flew coach. * Not only that, he had already planned a business trip to DC, so the restaurant paid for his travel! John also told me that Chris Sommers is one of the most dedicated people he knows to the environmental cause. * In fact, his restaurant buys carbon credits from a wind farm in Colorado. * Not only that, they recycle about 75% of their waste. * Not only that, John himself is going into the green building business. You couldn't find a worse case for environmental hypocrisy. Finally, Barack Obama isn't saddling the American taxpayer with the tab for this feast. He's picking up the tab, for local ingredients, out of his own pocket. I hope the right continues to "uncover" horrible scandals like this, so the American people can see how serious they are about fixing the country.Tommy on: Daily Dose: Posted by: Obama Loves ME at April 11, 2009 12:06 PM (7WlcE) 262

I disagree with some of the choices Obama has made, and he also recognizes that he has had to do things so far that he has not been pleased with. He's attempting to fix what bush broke, and don't refute that because we had a surplus when bush took office. Whats going on right now is NOT Obama's fault, but it is his job to make it better. But rather than speaking about our panties being in a twist. I just want to know what is it that is so threatening about obama to all of you? actually it's funny you should mention that; it WAS on his own dime. he paid for it with his own money, not as a part of the white house food budget. not only that, but the chef in question was ALREADY IN DC when obama invited him over to make the pizza. he wasn't flown over there by obama on air force one, or on a private jet, or even first class. the man took coach, and was in DC for a completely separate reason. in fact his own restaurant picked up the travel costs because it was on restaurant business. obama just had to pay for the ingredients. hey jack? wanna do a bit of fact checking before you post stories like this? They're all saying the same thing because the truth about the story is completely obvious that anyone can figure it out independently. I certainly don't agree with everything Obama does. There are some things on which he deserves a great deal of criticism. But you're complaining about him eating a fucking PIZZA. And then, if that isn't bad enough, getting the story wrong on just about every single detail possible. And then screaming and yelling at people for pointing it out. It's like you're trying to match liberals who yelled about Bush for 8 years, except they were yelling about torture and lying the country into war, and you're yelling about teleprompters and pizza pies. That's why you keep tripping over your clown shoes. Next time, don't start with the impotent outrage and work backwards to try to make the facts fit. Start with the facts and see if they are worthy of outrage. "If you think this makes Obama look good, the way you are flooding the zone with the same newly minted narrative then you are sadly mistaken." Here's your problem, I think. It's not a "newly-minted narrative". It's the true story of what happened, that anyone who didn't have their head up their ass could find out in about 30 seconds of Googling. The original story was a "newly-minted narrative" that was a bunch of bullshit with about 8 facts wrong. "Also, crazily enough this blog wasn't the only one to cover "pizzagate" and, it wasn't the one that exposed the story, for that you can thank the British press." "The British press" didn't 'expose' the story, it was the Daily Mail which is the British equivalent of the wingnut New York Post. "Jesus Christ Obots, we don't FUCKING CARE about the pizzas anymore, and your attempts to continue to gin up controversy about this and to paint us as racists and whackos are weak and obvious." In fact, Chris Sommers flew commercial. I hope the right continues to "uncover" horrible scandals like this, so the American people can see how serious they are about fixing the country. Sad. This used to be a good blog. Now Ace publishes B.S. stories and never retracts them when they're demonstrated to be untrue. The most you ever get is a note in the comments, which usually amounts to "fake, but accurate". We're 300+ comments into this one and don't even have that yet. I'm not really sure how anyone could continue to defend this, at this point.

After a not-so-extensive investigation into pizza gate, I've determined the following:
Chris Sommers buys carbon credits from a wind farm in Colorado. A gentleman named "John" stated that Sommers is "one of the most dedicated people he knows to the environmental cause." "John" uses shitty, confusing grammar. Miss Lippy's car is green. Billy likes to drink soda. Posted by: tufdaawg at April 11, 2009 03:35 PM (3L3Fi) 337
The story is entirely about hypocrisy and symbolism. It is of a piece with the story about Obama telling us to turn our thermostats down, while he turns up the heat in the White House so that it's "hot enough to grow orchids," as one White House official put it. It's of a piece with Al Gore's gigantic carbon footprint. If Obama (& Co.) were not constantly telling all of us how much we'll all have to sacrifice, it would not be a story at all. But, he does constantly tell us, and therefore it is a story. We have in the works an economically disastrous carbon emissions control plan. Economic rivals such as China and India are having none of it. Yet, this government of ours intends to forge ahead with it, unilaterally or not. The EPA has been given authority to treat carbon dioxide as a regulated pollutant. A law is in the works to allow lawsuits over carbon emissions - an endless cornucopia for slimy lawyers. Having two chefs fly across the country, when all this other stuff is going on in the background, when all these things have been said, is simply tone-deaf. The issue is that this leader, like so many others, is indicating that there is one set of rules for himself and friends, and a different, quite restrictive set of rules for the rest of us. It gives us a clue about our future. Incidentally, I have no reason to believe the official accounts of exactly how these men and their suitcase of pizza dough found themselves on the way to D.C. It's not terribly important exactly how it happened - but if the Administration and its friends are once again putting out yet another false cover story out of embarassment - well, now, that would be sort of important. Obama did not bow to a king, says the White House. Yes he did, says the video, plain as day. The bow is easier to dismiss than the clumsy lie that was issued in an attempt to defend Obama from criticism. Do you see the point? Obama is giving us the finger. Just a symbol. But, the symbol reveals an attitude, and the attitude is cause for concern. "It's good to be the king." "Let them eat cake." "L'etat c'est moi." The Needle @358 You know the story is bullshit because - the people who stood to be harmed by it say so. That's all you have to go on - their word. The word of the same people who said that Obama did not bow down to a king, when obviously he did. --A business trip that was going to happen anyway. From a pizza restaurant in Missouri to Washington D.C. I mean, what are the odds? How interesting. I'd like to know more. -Obama was going to pay for it out of pocket before the shit hit the fan. There's no way we will ever know. Regardless - it is about symbols and attitude. To create the appearance of such an event, after all that Obama has said and done - as I said, utterly tone-deaf, and well in-line with his previous "sacrifice for thee, but not for me" approach to public symbolism. From- http://tinyurl.com/cahtto/ I spoke with the restaurant's manager, John Fitzgerald, and he gave me some things that we call "facts," ones that cast Sommers' trip in an entirely different light. The best one is the first: Ace of Spades slammed Obama's environmental cred for "jetting in" Pi's chef, making it seem as though the guy was hopping a private gulfstream, or worse, partying down on Air Force One. In fact, Chris Sommers flew commercial. Not only that, he flew coach. Not only that, he had already planned a business trip to DC, so the restaurant paid for his travel! Maybe the pizzeria recycles some of its ingredients? Mmm. Eagle pizza. BTW, do you know how much concrete goes into making a windmill? And there's always this too--windmill deaths (human, that is). Yes, we've read the link, BC, and it still doesn't answer the media double standard of Obama's elite, country club lifestyle getting a pass from the media (as I wrote, no matter who's picking up the tab) that Bush would have faced for anything similar. (See complaints about spending on either of Bush's inaugurations versus Obama's much-more costly one.) And I didn't know that flying coach on the pizzeria's tax writeoff dime used less carbon than having the taxpayer pick up the tab directly and in First Class especially after getting a tax writeoff for buying the carbon credits from the completely tax-subsidized wind farm. We only made it past 400? Damn, at the rate the O'tards were flooding this thread, I was sure it would hit 500. Easily.
To wrap: Obama-lama-ding-dong gets caught acting like a prima donna elitist and hypocritical tool by having someone fly halfway across the country so he can have pizza. Demonstrating that his actual belief in global warming falls far short of his teleprompter rhetoric. O'tards get marching orders from Kos, Axelrod, etc. and attack. Yet their attacks are mildly amusing and consist of "Poopy Brain! FAIL!, PWNED, HAHAHAH". They are easily angered when made fun of. Which, of course, is why I'm having so much fun laughing at these imbeciles. Happy Easter O'tards. 500 by the end of the day. You can do it! Posted by: MrDIe at April 12, 2009 07:18 AM (MrDIe) 407

Outside of the chef making a business trip to DC on a commercial flight before the request for pizza, and the President paying for all the pizza out of his own pocket, you really nailed it! The two-party system works best when one party isn't full of borderline psychotics who think the Republic is teetering because Obama is paying for some pizza. It's been ten weeks, fellas. What level of crazy are you going to be at two years in? Posted by: Dave at April 12, 2009 08:48 AM (r9ffd) 409
Just the Facts - your post doesn't contradict a damn thing. It just says he is making Obama pizza. That's the part that no one is debating. The issue is the right-wing slope-brows here making shit up and not checking a single fact. I know you guys like to create your own reality, but you should really try existing in the real world sometime.

Wow, the Diggtards and their phenomenal CTRL-V-fu sure are a powerful force, completely missing the point of this story with their Axelrod marching orders. So what about the other thousand posts on this site pointing out Obama's consistent and constant dumbfuckery, Diggbots? Anything to say about that, or are you just going to claim 'victory' because, yes, President Overwhelmed's pizza maker flew 1900 miles round-trip on a commercial jet (who said otherwise?) to make pie for that fuckbucket and his sycophants, but it happened to miraculously coincide with a 'business trip', and the restaurant is going to buy the biggest ass-covering fig leaf of the deranged eco-loons, namely carbon indulgences, to cover the horrific amounts of plant food the trip produced? Back to Digg to see if your masters can come up with some talking points for the other monumental failings of your Marxist Messiah. Shoo.

Heh. Two days of O'tard crashing this thread and they still don't have an original thought. Much like their jug-eared leader. Obama-lama-ding-dong had a pizza maker flown in from great distance - check. Thereby adding greatly to his already enormous carbon footprint - check. Legions of O'tards saying its okay, it wasn't paid for by taxpayers - check. Its A-Okay to contribute to global warming if your messiah is the teleprompter Jesus - check You can contribute to greenhouse gases all you want as long as someone else has to decrease their contributions - check. "I spoke with the restaurant's manager, John Fitzgerald, and he gave me some things that we call "facts," ones that cast Sommers' trip in an entirely different light. I hope the right continues to "uncover" horrible scandals like this, so the American people can see how serious they are about fixing the country." I just posted this on another thread, but wanted to add it here. I think it's relevant. Let’s put some of this extravagance into perspective. The people at Pi were expecting to make 20 pies. I have a hard time seeing how you feed 140 people a slice a piece with only 20 pizzas, since I am going to assume each pizza is cut into six slices, and 6 x 20 only = 120. So I will add a few pies. I’ll double it. No, I’ll double it and add ten. 50 pies. The most expensive pie on their menu (it’s verifiable with a quick visit to their website) is 23 dollars. So, assuming that each of the 50 pizzas is the most expensive on their menu, the cost comes to $1,150. Since Pi paid their own travel expenses, and I am giving a generous benefit of the doubt that we are talking about many more pies that were anticipated, and they were all the most expensive pie on the menu, we are talking about $1,150. Elitist indeed. Posted by: Randy at April 12, 2009 12:25 PM (skfKC) 419

Yeah Wingnut Tool, but I didn't pull any numbers out of my ass. I pulled them off the restaurants menu, and their account of how many pizzas they expected to make. I made some very generous concessions and still came up with a very small number. Even with sixty pies, 140 people are being fed for less than ten dollars apiece. There is still plenty of room to add taxes and tip and it's still cheap.
I'm not sure if your response was supposed to be sarcastic or not. But just to be clear, I am poking fun of conservatives that are calling Obama elitist because he eats pizza. Posted by: Randy at April 12, 2009 01:07 PM (skfKC) 422

Check Dozens of wingtards complain about global warming for one coach class trip while actually denying global warming even exists in reality. Check. Wingtards complaining about telepromter because they have nothing better to complain about. Check. In all these posts, there are some questions that haven't been asked, let alone answered.
*) What business does the owner of a St. Louis pizza parlour have in Washington DC? *) How does the President, whose schedule is presumably quite full, find out that a pizza parlour owner he met for the first time months ago will be coming to DC? *) How does he find out in time to make sure that Mr. Sommers will be coming prepared to make pizza at the White House? *) Why would President Obama believe that he could impose on Mr. Sommers to drop by to make pizza at the White House? What about that totally unrelated "business" which brought Mr. Sommers to DC? Something isn't adding up here. Posted by: Lorrie at April 12, 2009 03:55 PM (zEnHB) 430
Lorrie: Yes. It's very suspicious. I bet the St. Louis pizza guy is really a stealth Muslim and he's secretly conveying Islamic codes to Barry Hussein X using mozzarella. Everyone knows pizza people have absolutely no business EVER going to Washington DC for ANY possible reason, and that blackity-black presidents who weren't born in Hawaii AT ALL have no business eating pizza IN THE FIRST PLACE. It is quite curious, is it not?
By the way, looks like Capt. Phillips has been rescued from the Somali pirates. Disappointed, spazzers? I know you are. Posted by: BlackHelicopterPilotNo.34 at April 12, 2009 04:23 PM (VxJ0h) 431

Funniest thing of all about this? It's simply not true, they guy flew to DC on a commercial coach class ticket on other business and paid his own way. Obama paid for the pizza out of pocket.
Soooo, is it too much to ask that you save all the fake outrage for something that actually happened? Looking at the comments, guess not. Don't believe everything you read in the UK Daily Mail, it's the Brit equivalent of the National Enquirer, did you even look at the other so-called stories on the site? Naw that would too hard... Posted by: Sonny at April 13, 2009 09:04 AM (5f2mL) 452
Jeez, is there anything the right wing noise machine won't gin up some faux outrage over?
Besides the points made over and over (the chef was coming to DC anyway on business, etc. etc.) the simple fact is that having a guest chef do something at the White House just isn't all that unusual. It happens in Republican and Democratic administrations alike. I don't know how many times a year it happens, or how long the practice has been going on, but certainly as a minor-league foodie I've been aware of if for years. Some tried to make hay out of the fact that the chef isn't getting paid. Here I admit that I'm speculating, but I'll bet that's the norm: the chef gets expenses covered and throws in his/her time for the plum on the CV, the PR value, and the ability to put "As served at the White House to the President" on the menu back home. People do this all the time; it's like giving out free samples at the grocery store or farmers market (or allowing free downloads of a song in hopes that people will buy the whole album)--different scale , but same principle. And what's wrong with someone who is better off than most buying lunch for a bunch of the folks who work for him? I throw a pizza party once a year for all my students. I can afford it, and they appreciate it. Again, different scale, same principle. Posted by: MS at April 13, 2009 09:50 AM (hIPCK) 453
