As a Concerned Conservative Christian and Lifelong Republican, I think we need to unify behind our historic president, and this sort of "Dr. No" partisanship by Rush Limbaugh, with no alternative plan, is a needless distraction from our need for immediate action to preserve the future for our children.

Isn't the essential question "Why isn't anyone challenging anything?" All presidents, all Congresses have been challenged, it is part of being an American.

Hey Rush, this shit has been happening for years, this is just on a bigger scale. We didn't always have these massive bureaucracies in this country...that was a liberal device, and fuckup on a gigantic scale. John Boehner is a lazy ineffective piece of shit, fuck him. Lee Iacocca couldn't give a shit about cars. Bob Lutz, yes, but the politics in the big three is as noxious as the shit in DC. Has Obama EVER owned a car, by himself? When the history of this time is written....
The winners write the histories. I think this is why Orwell's 1984 is so terrifying. Big Brother knew that the past was fungible. It was whatever the ruling party said it was, and it could change from day to day. Soon it would become impossible to say what really happened at a given point in time, no way even in principle to separate truth from lies. In sci-fi circles, this sort of thing is known as retconning, and in fiction it is sometimes the easiest way for writers to handle continuity problems (or just plain lazy storyboarding early on). But reality should not be treated so cavalierly. How do we know that (for example) the Battle of Salamis was really fought? How do we know that it wasn't just a fragment of Herodotus' imagination? It wouldn't be too difficult to obscure or discredit any supporting evidence to the contrary, and many modern historians would be only too happy to apply some "revisionism" to this great battle and make it disappear from human knowledge forever. And yet the Greeks really did defeat the Persian armada, and every minute of time that has passed from that point to this reflects that fact. Posted by: Monty at March 31, 2009 04:04 PM (/0a60) 20

A boy is spawned from poltically radical parents, with radical relatives, surrounds himself with radical friends in school, and then turns out to be a radical POTUS with an agenda that no sane American can even recognize, much less understand, and proceeds to destroy a country that he knows nothing about. Another fine post, Monty. Perhaps our only hope is that enough pieces of evidence will survive in this technological age that people with enough curiosity, in the future, can reconstruct a reasonable narrative of events. But I fear the future of human society, at least for the next century, will resemble an ant colony. Posted by: George Orwell at March 31, 2009 04:15 PM (AZGON) 35
You know what, nobody gives a flying fuck about impolitic. Somebody posted a link to the Iowahawk video in another thread which is a mashup of the impolitic things donks said about Bush and Republicans over the last 8 years including the Fortney Stark saying that Bush got his rocks off sending kids over to Iraq to get their heads blown off. It was a long video full of 5 or 6 second clips. Lots and lots of really repellant bile, by actual politicians and not talk show hosts. And they beat our ass. We are not going to beat these bastards with deep thoughts from think tanks.

Seen this ? January 20, 2009 The Gloves are Apparently Off... This tidbit appears on the recently upscaled White House site: Katrina President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur. President Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina. Citing the Bush Administration's "unconscionable ineptitude" in responding to Hurricane Katrina, then-Senator Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims. Okay. I was giving the man his day, his year, his administration. A faint breeze of circumspection had been wafting across his bow for a couple of weeks. I was going to shut the fuck up and exhibit the class the left has been incapable of showing since 1968. No more. Fuck him. That dandy, that piebald pimp. And his rat shack wife, who was strolling down Pennsylvania Avenue today incomprehensibly dressed like one of the terra cotta soldiers from the Imperial Tombs of China exhibit. Only with a fatter ass. And snappers that looked like they could chomp through a cocoanut. How often has Obama regretted those marital banns, one wonders? Graceless in victory, these liberals. And we know, of course, how they behave in defeat. This item will disappear, of course. Just like all of the snide, cheapshot, partisan, venal, juvenile, imbecilic, and unscrupulous things that have emanated from the man's circle in the last year. And he will distance himself from it, and no word will be uttered by the press against him for it. As the ancient and apocryphal sun worshippers who stared at mighty Sol until they were blinded, so the media are unseeing and unknowing, reduced to the tactile self-comfort of the thrill upon the thigh, the flutter of the heart, the buckling of the knee. Partisan pissing about on the White House website, of all things. Where's the goddamn outrage, to steal a phrase from Bobby Dole? More importantly, where is the goddamn class? But, then, we are speaking of liberals. The same bilge rats that hallooed their disdain at Bush as he was departing the city. Class. These fucking losers have no sense of history, or decorum, or protocol, or class. Just a perpetually aggrieved cohort of snot-faced, soiled pink diaper babies. Fuck them all. Recall, if you will, the outcry about "gravitas" in 2000. I want these precious, unicorn-sucking, rainbow-farting shitheels to show me some gravitas. Beginning with Obama. Orcs do not simply materialize around a man, after all. They are nurtured, fed, agitated and instigated. Obama sowed the whirlwind, let us see if he might reap it. Obama reminds me of a chorus line boy with a stiletto in his sole. All flat chest and high kick and beautiful smile and slick moves, until you move in on his turf. Which I am reasonably certain is the reins of power in Obama's case. Not another fellow's prick. But the point obtains, and the histrionics will be the same. Ah, well. My well-laid plan to inure myself to this disgusting spectacle, and ignore it, spoilt like chicken meat on an untended crab line. It's not my fault, of course. I just became outraged that my taxes subsidized a partisan hitpiece on a venerable government website by a feral gang of tailsnapping jackals. Pardon me for wanting my fucking money back. You notice how Rush just keeps the pressure on? He's stuck to his message and weathered the media firestorm. It's consistency gives the impression of belief in one's convictions.
If Republican politicians would pick some core concepts and "push back" in the media using this tactic (NOT the "fail" message..the tactic), do you all think that they would get more support eventually? I know...seems like a dumb question, but they're pissin' me off! They need to do something different. The impression I have is that they don't know what to do or what message to send. If it's a dumb question, why aren't they doing it? No convictions? Grrr... Posted by: Cranbone at March 31, 2009 04:48 PM (vcy6r) 57

Then you are setting yourself up for huge disappointment. Obama didn't create this bubble. This bubble created Obama. Ever since the 2000 election, the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy has been building a movement. The set up groups like Center for American Progress and Moveon.org, they funded online groups like Kos and Media Matters and all of their messaging is coordinated. They have poured billions of dollars into building a very partisan, very left wing army and then inserted Obama and his ACORN machine right into the middle of it. Obama didn't create this "movement". It's a myth. It's a well organized, well funded machine and it is rolling over our Constitution and our way of life. When Horowitz and Poe wrote Shadow Party, many people thought they were loons. Go read the book and you will see that everything the wrote has or is coming to pass. Obama isn't going to change. His team isn't going to change. This is what they have been planning to do for years. You better hope they fail. Posted by: JackStraw at March 31, 2009 05:04 PM (VW9/y) 63

Today, Netanyahu told Obama to put a leash on Ahmadinejad or Israel would do it for him. Them's fighting words. Obama's arrogance is going to be his downfall and I hope his administration goes down in flames. The sooner the better.

#18, it's not "game over", it's the start of a new one. One our side will probably be much better at.
#72, Jack, you're right. We are exiles in our own land. We have no stake in its governance, and no voice outside our own spaces. And yes, by our own spaces, I mean this Ewok-infested hobo morgue. That makes it easier. When negotiations fail, this doesn't make it Us against Us, like most civil wars. It's Us against Them. They are not like us, they don't believe what we believe, and they will fucking do it to us first once they realize we might not have the balls to fight back. SGT Dan at March 31, 2009 07:14 PM (1UCCk) I like the way your thinking there Dan. I'm not going to roll over and play nice for these fuckers. I don't know exactly what the tipping point will be but when it happens we will all know and it will be time to kick ass. Your the kind of guy that will lead guy's like me and take it back. If we don't turn things around in 2010 and stop this train wreck it could get ugly.

Incidentally, in case you're wondering why I've given up on arguing about this: I've been overruled by the majority of the conservative caucus, and there doesn't seem to be any percentage in arguing about it. I have never sworn allegiance to the President; nor nine in black dresses; just the Constitution.
I do hope Obama fails in his efforts to destroy this country, even crossing the street alone. Posted by: Druid at March 31, 2009 09:56 PM (nFeDb) 101
#98, off limits? We have a Communist revolution going on in this country, funded from overseas interests like the Saudis and George fucking Soros. Election fraud is rampant and the media is in on it. We have rental mobs getting paid to ride in buses and intimidate citizens out of legal employment contracts. My great-great grandchildren will be in debt for the "stimulus", assuming I bother having kids because I can't afford them. Health care rationing, if passed, will literally be the death of my wife since no doubt the meds keeping her alive will be deemed "too expensive". My family tree hasn't missed a war going back to the Revolution. I can't go to my ancestors having let this shit slide.
Under those circumstances, nothing is off limits. I won't shoot first, but once it starts, I'll go by General Nathan Bedford Forrest's guidance. War to the knife, and that knife to the hilt. Posted by: SGT Dan at March 31, 2009 10:27 PM (bzYZw) 102
Rush has always been at the head of advocating policies that make sense. Unfortunately there are those who object not to his policies butt his tone.
So we are faced with adopting someone who tells it like it is.
OR Adopt the policies of Bush or McCain who placed image above substance so that they could attend those all important Beltway parties.
To hell with the anti Rushies. They command no one, have no followers and are just RINOs at heart.

"I can't go to my ancestors having let this shit slide."
That's the thread winner, there, folks. If you conservatives don't feel the same way as SGT Dan, then it's time to fold up the tent and plan a migration, 'cause this place is toast. (Let's emigrate to Quebec and turn that into Galt's Province. Canadians want to get rid of Quebec, anyway.) Posted by: K~Bob at March 31, 2009 11:17 PM (lWSMb) 104

Ace, you're entitled to your opinion, and you might even be correct. I just happen to disagree. I think Obama is anti-American, at least as I see America (you know, that Constitutional Republic with strictly enumerated powers, a rule of law, without judges making it up or government officials ignoring the laws they've sworn to uphold.) Therefore, I not only want him to fail, I want his name to become a synonym for incompetence. I want his administration to be so bad that it makes Grant's look good. I want him to live in infamy, like Tammany Hall. If he succeeds, freedom loses. I have too much self respect to get into name calling. I'm with Rush.
