LGF calling me out

For the record the post about the Islam ads in SF that Charles at LGF called me out for was lame and poorly written. If I don't have time to do a quality piece I will wait until I do. Neither LGF nor Zombie called for censorship it was a clown protesting in Florida, my bad.

I apologize to them and for causing shame and disapprobation to be heaped upon the morons here at AoS. Now everyone fuck off and get on with more important shite.

This disturbs me in so many ways. Charles is one of the Good Guys (tm). He's gotten a little crazy lately with the creationism/evolution stuff, and he really has a bee in his ear over the Vlaams Belang stuff (maybe he's right; I don't know); but he's been picking fights with other pretty good conservative folks. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe now that the Democrats are running the show, Charles might not simply be reverting back to the socially-liberal guy he always was at heart: a defense hawk, but liberal in other respects. A Zell Miller Democrat, in other words. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, but why continue the charade?

I hope Charles can keep his head through all this -- I value his insight and his stout defense of classical liberalism in the face of Islamist thuggery. Keep your eye on the ball, Charles.

Anyway, ID is not incompatible with science. It was specifically designed so it wouldn't be. ID may or may not be required to explain existence, depending on who you are talking to, and is likely not query-able by the scientific method (though it may be, depending on how its structured), and thus may reasonable be eliminated within scientific inquiry as a fruitless construct.

But from what I've seen, its not inconsistent with the observable world. Nor will it specifically undermine science. Politics, now that undermines science.

Taking the small minute changes within species and extrapolating them backwards over billions of years to get a theory that postulates these small changes lead to a simpler species developing into a more complex, different species is a very interesting theory.

However is that the ONLY way to interpret the natural evidence?

Charles and others like him aren't defending Science as much as they are defending Naturalism.

Even if something in the universe is so complex and intricate that believing chance processes alone led to the formation of it is laughably absurd, the person with a commitment to Naturalism will insist there is no other REASONABLE explanation as to how it could have gotten here.

The ID movement has risen precisely because there are so many SCIENTISTS that are realizing despite decades of indoctrination in Naturalism that there is just too many natural living phenomena in this universe that simply can't be rationally explained as having developed by the same laws of chance that says you only get a '7' x times out of y times you throw a pair of dice.

Atheists champion Naturalism because it makes their atheism look scientific. Others get confused and come to believe that admitting their might be an Intelligence out there that was involved in the formation of life means 'destroying' all real science.

It must be pointed out the roots of modern science has it's basis in men like Copernicus, Galiliel and Newton, who's belief in God hardly made them bad scientists.

There is just nothing at all revelatory at LGF. The site crashes A LOT - from whatever experimentation(s) Charles is up to. The posts, all four or five that appear each day, are usually lazy "open" posts or another paranoid "exposure" of some shit-headed creationist plot to undermine the good people of Podunk, Louisiana or Beulah fuckin' Arkansas. I can appreciate anyone monitoring their own blog - this is wise - but you get the sense Charles does nothing BUT monitor his blog. I suspect he has "Find-Charles" option on three second refresh. His own omnipresence and his reflexively repetitious minions definitely give the site a creepy air. Worst part is that it's really always been like that and took many of us far too long to notice and grow uncomfortable with. It's really just not that interesting a blog and the incestuousness (sic) of the whole thing leaves threads sounding more like an open Yahoo chat room than an informed/interesting political blog.

Interesting comments. Most of LGF commenters have said positive things about AoS. But now as I read these AoS comments, many of them are distortions, lies, or comments from ignorance. Charles has a few rules, and if you live by them you can take contrary positions all you want. In fact it makes for more interesting threads.

Charles will ban folks for consistent prevarications, for over the top racist comments, for trying to tell him what threads he �ought� to put on his blog. And recently he added banning folks who never make comments but ding others� comments.

Personally I enjoy reading and commenting on LGF, but it takes a lot of time, to follow and comment on threads�time I don�t usually have.

Also, if Charles and LGF are not on the conservative end of the spectrum, conservatism is in REAL trouble. Speculate on his beliefs all you want. But if you believe in a 6000 year old earth you are as irrelevant as the �flat earthers� of previous centuries. So �now everyone fuck off and get on with more important shite.�

Exhibit A in how the LGF faithful manage to piss off most of the people who visit there that don't accept Naturalism. They immediately assume you are a young earth creationist.

They conjure up a straw man and then mock it.

I made a post at #51 that laid out the case that people who insist on defining Science as only allowing a Naturalistic cause for everything past, present and future are making their minds up before the evidence is even consulted, and then are closed to any other possible intepretations of the evidence.

THAT is being irrelevant.

Charles banned me! He said his reason for banning me was because he banned some other user id some-skyscaper or something I forget. He accused me of being that user. I can assure the paranoid Charles Johnson I was not that other user. But as we all know...Charles is never wrong. I found it ironic that he thought Robert Spencer was off for thinking that RS was a victim of a LGF prank. Meanwhile CJ is paranoid in thinking that I am some other user.

I still like and go to LGF frequently. I like how CJ is proevolution and wants to stay above the right wing nuts and truthers. I just think CJ is a little too authoritaian for my liking. But hey it's his blog and can do what he wants.
