Bush And Obama Meet The Marines, Compare And Contrast

Ouch.

Why, it's almost like they would follow Bush to Hell and back. Oh wait, they did.

It's going to be a very long 4 years.

Right before The Vapid One's™ speech at Camp Lejune, I commented to BackwardsGirl how cool it would be for him to be greeted with silence.

We both had a real good chuckle.

Little did we know...

2 Ouch is right. Of course, it plays into his hands. Can't have a dedicated military if you're intent on giving in all over the world. Very easy to make cuts if they start showing disgruntlement.

10 Are you supposed to keep quiet during Hail to the Chief?

I was wondering about that too but Gates, Mullen and some others (probably aides) could be heard clapping. Also, if you follow the link on B5 to Amy Proctor's site, she has a video of Bush in front of an Army gathering and they go nuts during Hail to the Chief.

I watch this and think back to all the video of cheering crowds during his campaign and am amazed how the response of those who put their lives on the line for our country contrasts with those who don't.

23 @ 11
He has his priorities straight.  He's made it clear that the military will be cut as much as possible (read: more than is safe) in order to pay for the Regovery/ACORN insurance act.  His priorities are quite straight, just in an opposite line of what is safe, moral, and good for the country.
(that's why I want him to fail)

27 Now that video warmed my heart. What a humiliation for Teleprompter Jesus. One shouldn't want to see that out of respect for the office, but Obama deserves this. He has done everything possible to deny these soldiers their due all because of political grandstanding. He continues to undermine their honorable work while capitalizing on their success in spite of his party's sabotage. He is a disgrace.

In my most concerned moments, I visualize the standing CiC ordering "his" troops on the public during the most extreme power grab. Sure, it sounds like it cannot happen, but it can.

Seeing that response tells me that our military will not necessarily follow this CiC to the nth degree and gives me faith that they are well-versed in honoring the Constitution.

28 He's been calling them failures for the last couple of years. He also said that their efforts in Iraq were a mere "distraction" from the "real war" in Afghanistan. If I were a Marine, I wouldn't be too happy to see him either.

29 I wonder if BHO was deafened by the silence. The guys with the most to lose were clapping in a "going through the motions" manner. The rest of the audience looked like they were handling this like they were dealing with a newbie Lt. with no experience or clue (which is not a bad statement about BHO's military experience).

46 buster mcDissenter,

Yeah, that civilian force bit made my eyes bug out, too. Still, it hasn't been created yet while the armed forces have. Obviously, our currently military does not have his back right now. They'll serve grudgingly because of duty but they are exhibiting a very public sense of limits. That's a good sign for this particular administration... or should I say against this administration.

Nevertheless, I always have a mistrust of government even if I love the grunts. Those at the top of a hierarchy, any hierarchy, can create some pretty ominous monsters under the right circumstances. History is littered with 'em. The intent isn't there initially, but mobs, even disciplined mobs (as contradictory as that sounds) can evolve.

Watching a second time. Thinking about the way George Bush was treated on inauguration day by the lefties, they didn't even have the decency to just stay silent when he left. And the ex-Pres truly does not seem to care at all.

Then I see this video and how the troops respond to him and, yeah, I get it. I understand what's important to him, and I can see why he really doesn't care about the reaction of the yo-yo's who sang "na na hey hey goodbye" or whatever it was. Very fitting somehow.

I think this story struck a nerve with some of the moonbat Messiah's more rabid followers. Here are some comments from Gateway Pundit, and Amy Proctor's blog from the other day:

The troops can go f*** themselves, bunch of baby killing murdering savages, they are only their to protet the Corporate capitalists who have hijacked the troops.

F*** the troops, they can all die for all I care

America needs a revolution, it figures all those brain dead retards worship Bush, they can all get blown up by an IED for all I care, the problem is they waste more tax paying dollars when they die

F*** the troops

He returned to express himself again:

It figures the brain dead troops like the idiot Bush more, they are to stupid to realize Bush and his friends just use them as pawns in their little chess match

Obama might make this world a better place and the idiot troops might have to go out and get a real job and contribute something to humanity

F*** the troops let them all die, GO Iraq, Go IEDS blow all these baby killing savages to hell!

Another sweetheart at Gateway Pundit:

Times have changed. President Obama rules this country now. You racist hatemongers had best wake up and get with the program.

The chickens have come home to roost and reparations are due. Time to pay your bill or suffer the consequences.

Of course, "Blackfive" is a Rumsfeld-worshipping propagandist.  The Marines were more then respectful, they were enthusiastic.

Colonel (ret.) Patrick Lang also had a different view:

The marines understood Obama.  They did not applaud when he entered the room.  They stood, of course, but they did not applaud.  By the time he was finished they were with him 100%.  Barry McCaffery said that Obama had spoken perfectly to a military audience, especially to combat people.  I understand that.  For such as they, things do "go bump in the night."  McCaffery also said that his eyes filled with tears at several points.  McCaffery is a hard man.

The man is chairman of a foundation that is an arm of the Jewish Agency, the organizational mainspring of the world Zionist movement.  The Jewish Agency and the Israeli government are so closely connected that it is hard to say where one ends and the other begins.  The foundation that Ross heads is devoted to advancing the interests of the Jewish People worldwide.

Obviously, the Jewish Agency and it subsidiaries overseas and in the United States have every right to exist and to foster whatever interests that they choose, but should someone so closely associated with a group devoted to other than the interests of the United States as a whole have a key role in American foreign policy?  Why would anyone who is not a Jew think that Ross represents his or her interests?  Is it difficult to "connect the dots" in his case?  Does this man have a US security clearance?  In what sense is he not an agent or representative of the Jewish Agency?  Why is he not registered under the "Foreign Agent Registration Act? (FARA).  Just about everyone in the Islamic world believes that Ross is an Israeli agent.  Someone should sue over this man's employment at the heart of US foreign policy.

Why he doesn't just go on and warn us about the ZOG is anybody's guess.

Obviously the Marines were at attention when Obama came out, but what is funny is that Commander In Chief Obama did not know the two little magic words ("at ease") to make them loosen up, and not a single person in the building helped him with that command.  They just let him die to the sounds of crickets chirping on national T.V.

Posted by: Terry C. at March 04, 2009 04:23 PM (Sz0hQ)

87 Hutch: "Obviously the Marines were at attention when Obama came out..."

What about the officers? Is it customary for them to applaud at such an address where clearly it was a staged event and the rest of the personnel stand at full attention? That does not fit.

Also, the response at the end, the point where supposedly they'd have been free to respond, was embarrassingly muted. A few polite applauds and that was it. The difference between that and Bush almost couldn't be more stark.

Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at March 04, 2009 04:40 PM (swuwV)

88 Come on you AoS wingnuts. It is totally obvious that some military nutjob edited out the sound of wild applause in the Obama video, and patched together a clip of some soldiers cheering a celebrity with a video of Bushitler. Are you guys really that naive to fall for such an obvious piece of right wing propaganda?  If you don't believe me, ask Michael Moore what he thinks. I mean, jeeez...

Posted by: RM at March 04, 2009 04:53 PM (GkYyh)

89 Anyone who wants Bush back or thinks he was good for anything is an absolute retard. Actually, that's insulting to retarded people. You have to be willfully ignorant. Bush is responsible for every problem we're in.

Every soldier that bleeds in Iraq is because of George W. Bush. It's not an arguable statement. It's a fact.

You can see the Marines in the stands behind Obama are standing at attention.  Obviously the officers on stage were expecting applause, but no one put the troops at ease.  If you watch more of the speech, the troops start to respond more as Obama rolls along, but the "at ease" command was never given.  Don't get me wrong, I think the Marines gave him the cold shoulder.  Obama set himself up to be snubbed, by the book.  The Marines are very resourceful, they spotted this chance instantly, and they ran with it.  The best part is that no one can get in trouble for it if Commander In Chief Obama does not understand basic military commands.

Posted by: Eleven at March 04, 2009 04:58 PM (7DB+a)

93 That's well said, jiim. Did you write that yourself or did you just channel what your seventh grade Civics teacher said this afternoon?

So, the terrorist who actually fire the bullets or detonate the bomb have no moral culpability?

Interesting theory.

99 I see someone pissed in the lefties Cheerios .
Too bad , so sad.
About 70% of the military wouldn't piss on Obama if his heart was on fire. Which doesn't mean they wont follow orders and respect the office of the President. One thing the military hates is incompetent leadership , something Obama has demonstrated in spades.

Oh wait . Am I allowed to use the word spades in that context ?

I doubt these videos are in proper context.  Yet, seeing "W" with the troops was always a moment to brighten one's day.

Me, too, RR.  He could really get the blood pressure up there but he knows what is important.  While "W" is a RINO, he is also clearly a genuine adult and comfortable with his masculinity.  I can't say the same for BO.  You know the country's in trouble when a metrosexual is elected president.
