| The Age Of Plenty Arrives! Obama Boasts Of $65 Per Month Tax "Cut"Try not to spend it all in one place! In his weekly address on radio and Youtube, President Obama heralded the "Making Work Pay" tax cut in the stimulus packaged he signed Tuesday, which he says is beginning this morning and will go to more Americans more quickly than any tax cut in history. After heralding some of the stimulative measures in the bill, the President says he's "pleased to announce that this morning, the Treasury Department began directing employers to reduce the amount of taxes withheld from paychecks – meaning that by April 1st, a typical family will begin taking home at least $65 more every month. Never before in our history has a tax cut taken effect faster or gone to so many hardworking Americans."This is barely going to cover my monthly Unicorn-chow bill. Of course, I do make some of that back in all the free Skittles it shits. Or will shit when I get mine. Why is taking so long to get my unicorn or is this it? How are you going to spend your new found wealth? Below the fold, I wonder how this Obamabot is feeling about her $65 a month grant from the Dear Leader. Comments1
Who gets this? everyone? My friends haven't gotten any of these freebees. My friends also haven't gotten any of the tax credits either. My friends just pay and pay.

Wow, with that kind of cash, an entrepeneur can 'hire' a corporate mascot--maybe even two, if you get 'em at the shelter.
As for creating new jobs, well, that's what the unicorn is for...right?! Posted by: Vinnie in Chicago at February 21, 2009 12:39 PM (q3V+C) 4
OK, so a cut in the percentage of withholding. That just means people's tax refunds at the end of the year are smaller, and some people will wind up owing instead of getting a refund. This is only a "tax cut" if you're fucking retarded...which apparently the people who voted for this shit are.

I'm sure the CO2 tax will take that tax cut away. I'll be net negative for my smokes, booze, ammo tax and beef fart tax that is coming.

95% of the people get this $13 dollar a week tax cut, even if they pay no taxes. The 30% who pay no taxes will get even more.
But, the deadbeats who borrowed more money than they could pay back will get tens of thousands.
But lets not quibble about a tiny bit of pork, right Chuckie Cheesedick.
Hey has everyone seen that asshole that they think killed Sandra Levy. He is another fucking illegal alien who sneaked in and was granted amnesty under a Bush temporary program. He is currently in jail for burglary and assaulting two other women.

This bald, glaring, blindingly obvious surplus of stupidity in the Nation Below Canada could not have accumulated overnight. Not even nominal Democrats can become this stupid in a matter of weeks.
What has happened is like the unveiling of a statue, pulling off the drapes from a work in progress for years. The kind of people who think $65 is a real tax cut... that a reduction in withholding is a tax cut at all... are people who have honed the keen edge of their stupidity for years. The ascension of Waffles to Fascist Overlord assisted by the cheerleading sycophancy of the MSM has merely revealed the rot that existed in the national edifice. It's no longer possible to pretend... half of our fellow citizens are literal, smooth-brained, infantile, suckling morons. Posted by: George Orwell at February 21, 2009 12:58 PM (AZGON) 15

To the comment above... Is this a cut in the tax rate or a cut in tax witholding which, as you point out, wouldn't really be a 'cut' in anything at all? Even for the working poor this only represents, about 30 cent per hour raise so it's not going to do a hell of a lot to help them either. Although, I do remember times when, about twenty years ago, an extra few dollars each week would have seemed like a God-send. Maybe it's just me, but this seems like the worst type of condescension. Is that a reduction of what you owe a month (at end of year you will owe $65x12 less) or just what you give? Some give a lot more so they can have a refund at the end of the year. I am very confused over all of these word games. Can someone please explain?

Is that a reduction of what you owe a month (at end of year you will owe $65x12 less) or just what you give?
Tax-related summary can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/ctouhc I think what they're talking about is mostly this provision. Making Work Pay Credit: New credit; 6.2% of earned income, up to a maximum credit of $400 per earner ($800 for a couple who both have earned income over $6,450). Since you'll end up owing less in taxes, withholding will be adjusted to match. The monthly withholding reduction is artificially high for 2009, since this family's "savings" this year would be $65x9. Next year it would be more like $48x12. Of course, work doesn't pay for everyone: Credit phases out at rate of 2% of income over $75,000 ($150,000 for joint filers). Therefore individuals with income over $95,000 and couples with income over $190,000 would not receive any portion of the credit. Posted by: Huma Abedin at February 21, 2009 01:27 PM (rTGYp) 35

I get paid and they take taxes out and then anything left, a rareity, goes into savings and then when I file my taxes they tax my savings again. To compound things I have a jumbo mortgage which is really not that jumbo at all. Who knew?! I was supposed to be funneling my pretax dollars offshore to a super sekret account? Who knew?! I was supposed to be refinancing my house to buy a big screen tv and a brand new mercedes and vacations to europe? Who knew?! I was supposed to be maxing out my credit cards and buying anything and everything and not worrying about paying them off or the interest rate??? Who knew?! Who knew that I was supposed to cultivate the right kind of political relationships and party affiliations to make sure I was one of the "special cases"? Who knew?!

For those who have received their unicorns, bear in mind that the Obama campaign has listed the value of each unicorn at $45,625 (appx. 50 lbs of skittles per day worth $2.50/lb.) on the 1099 forms it has filed with the IRS. These winnings are taxed as income and must be reported on Line 21 (Other Income) of your Form 1040.
Those who have tried to take advantage of charitable tax deductions have found the process of donating their unicorns fraught with difficulty. Many equine non-profits, such as hippotherapy centers or equestrian Special Olympics or Paralympics have been reluctant to accept them. The United Hippotherapy Association has issued a statement declaring unicorns to be "tempermentally unsuited for theraputic activities" and industry insurers are reluctant to issue policies. Even those non-profits willing to accept unicorns rather than cars, boats, etc. do not want to incur any expense or responsibility for the item before it is converted to cash. I don't know PA. I'm kind of bearish on the long term outlook for basement dope farming myself. Unless you live in a Democrat district or near a concentration of heavy hitters in party fundraising, the brown-outs and interruptions to your power supply that are likely to ensue once the "Smart Grid" starts distributing energy more "efficiently" are bound to have a negative impact on crop yields. I'm not sure that a $65/month subsidy would be enough to make running a generator that often cost effective given the current climate of reduced production/refining not to mention the possible effects of any future cap-and-trade legislation.

Even if the national credit card is maxed out and partisanship remains the rule for Washington's political tribes, President Barack Obama and Congress are plunging ahead with a health care overhaul. Deety, you bury a power cable to your neighbors house while they are on summer vacation. 20 Amps is fine, and most people won't know it's there in the panel. This will not cause a power spike in your bill, if you're being watched. Always grow in the basement, in case thermal imaging is being used. Use sugar water in growth and slow drying process...Also find old garage door opener tracks, with at least one solid panel. Mount the grow lights to them. Is this tax 'cut' a reduction in the federal income tax rate or a reduction in the amount withheld for the already bankrupt SS/Medicare system? I've read that it's the latter and we will pay in the end through reduced SS payments. An old democrat trick, give the fool a nickle today and steal $10 later. My favorite is the tax credit offered to first time home buyers, worth 10% of the cost of your purchase up to $8000. This is a credit. So if you pay no income taxes, they're gonna just stroke you a check for the whole figure. Free money, easy as pie. Of course I'm not qualified. I bought a starter home 6 years ago and have been diligently saving to move to a nicer house. Why can't I participate in this program? Fuck you, that's why Warden. Cowardly racist. Warden, this is so confuzzling. I was under the impression taht there is a first time home buyer credit of $7500? But that you have to pay it back if you have a profit or maybe it is simply added to the back end. Tehn there is this new one for 8 grand which started out as 15 grand and that one apparently can beused by anyone but i'm not sure if it has to be repaid if you have a profit or if it is tacked on to the back end of your mortgage or if it is taxed as income. I'm sure nothing is ever "free and clear". Someone wondered if a first time homebuyer is allowed to have both.

But the credit is phased out for higher-income taxpayers, defined as
individuals who have a modified adjusted gross income of between
$75,000 and $95,000, and married couples filing jointly who make
between $150,000 and $190,000. Thus, the administration says many of
them will see little or no change in their paychecks.
So now $75,000 salary is consider rich? More class warfare bullshit. Give everyone a fucking tax break including businesses and get the economy moving again. One second thought let the Republicans do it in 2010. Let Barry get his ass voted out of office. Posted by: TheQuietMan at February 21, 2009 04:57 PM (Qr315) 108

The only reason I can see for this bullshit, spread out over the course of a whole year, penny ante $65/mo for the average family, is so the democrats can later claim that they tried "tax cuts" and that they had no stimulative effect whatsoever to counter any future proposals to reduce tax rates.
Posted by: Deety at February 21, 2009 05:08 PM (1jglO) 110
Hmmmmmm, I don't know if the $7500 credit still applies. That one you had to pay back, so it was sorta stupid. I mean, an interest free loan is nice, but it's not THAT great. This new credit does NOT have to be repaid. They reduce your taxes dollar for dollar. Or, if you paid less than the amount of the credit in taxes, they write you a check. Is it taxed as income? I have no idea. I stopped reading after I found out that it, like every other "benefit" in the stimulus, does not apply to my cracka' ass. Posted by: Warden at February 21, 2009 05:23 PM (QoR4a) 111
I think Barry is back on drugs again.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama wants to slash America's ballooning deficit in half by 2013 by cutting spending on the Iraq war, eliminating wasteful public programs and raising taxes on the wealthy, an administration official said on Saturday. "The deficit this administration inherited was $1.3 trillion or 9.2 percent of GDP. By 2013, the end of the president's first term, the budget cuts the deficit to $533 billion or 3.0 percent of GDP," the official said on condition of anonymity. "Most of the savings will come from winding down the war in Iraq, increased (tax) revenue from those making more than $250,000 a year, and savings from making government work more efficiently and eliminating programs that do not work," the official said. He's going to really have to soak this rich for this. Let's see him go after his Hollywood buddies first. Posted by: TheQuietMan at February 21, 2009 05:39 PM (Qr315) 112

anyone else notice in Jindal's comments that States MUST expand welfare roles in order to get the stimulus money and that it will only last about 3 years and states wil lbear the burden of the cost after that, which they simply can't afford. Notice how nice and timely it is set up that the stimulus money runs out in a presidential election year but not so far in advance that the topic will not be an issue. That leaves the opposition either talking welfare reform or raising taxes to pay for it. Not things to get you re-elected. The guy has made a career of running for Pres. and he is already planning now on how to get re-elected. I don't believe for a minute the dates and rules of this are any coincidence, its been setup for maximum re-elcetion benefit. Repubs better start planning right now how to handle this issue. Why they aren't talking this up is a mystery. Make it known now, well in advanca Posted by: Jody C. at February 21, 2009 06:11 PM (hphNR) 114

By kickin' back on the White House portico and enjoying the fireworks show as the delayed detonation of the various time-bombs seeded throughout the Stimulus Bill and the small print of his various initiatives and executive orders go off in an orchestrated display that will culminate a dazzling grand finale in about 3 to 3.5 years. I think the press has it wrong when they say that Obama is trying to lower expectations when he keeps on about catasrophy and hard times ahead. Didn't Mrs. Obamanation during the campaign lambaste Pres Bush's 600 tax cut (which came in one lump sum) by stating, what good is that tax cut, you couldn't even buy a pair of earings with it? Now you can't even buy 1/10 of a pair of earings with her husband's tax cuts, and we're up crap's creek along with our children's children because of that porkulus bill. Indeed, Obama will try to offset this spendathon by ripping our defenses to the bone (look for a drastic cut in Iran and Afghanistan as well-we know how democraps love national security defense and our allies).Welcome to unicorn ally. Biden was right, it won't be six months before we're gonna be tested. Gird your loins, Dow going to 3,000 by June? Hope you have some money to buy gold now. Posted by: eaglewingz08 at February 22, 2009 08:52 AM (59LOM) 125
Here's the best part - the $65 give-back so elequently bashed in the preceeding comments is the only part of Porkzilla that will have any useful effect (however small that might be). The government has been sucking the life out of the economy, and the blood letting is finally catching up with us. Instead of being content to live off the fat, the State has been eating into the muscle. The Dems really got it rolling in the 80's - Reagan's policies not only allowed the economy to recover powerfully, but also brought in considerable tax revenue by being willing to take a smaller part of a bigger pie. Those policies would have been running surpluses by 1986 if the Dems hadn't been flushing our wealth down the social spending toilet. Then Bush the Elder fell for the Democrat tax increase plan without getting the promised spending cuts, further worsening the situation. Thankfully Clinton had just enough intelligence to do NOTHING, and let things recover a little during his vile reign. Alas, then came 9-11, thanks to the Clinton failure to assassinate OBL and Clinton's overall plan to project the image of a weak and decadent America world wide. Even so - had the wasteful social spending and other costly jackassery that the government is prone to been slashed back we'd still be in good overall shape. Bush bears some blame by not fighting back against it - he failed to use his veto properly. Had the states and the fed been willing to get unreasonable burdens off of the back of US business it would have done great good. If the government would keep the illegal immigrant problem under control we'd have a much more solid labor market and employment base. The government creates few, if any, solutions. It's just multiplies our problems. Posted by: Reactionary at February 22, 2009 09:30 AM (dn8io) 126

More fun with math Obama starts the handouts in April. That's 3/4 of the year. At $13 a week it comes to $507 for the year. Last spring $600 in one check did nothing for the economy. Obama really is an asshole. A lying asshole. Posted by: drjohn at February 22, 2009 10:26 AM (Hfbzn) 129
"I wonder how this Obamabot is feeling about her $65 a month grant from the Dear Leader."
Reality's gonna be a looooooooooooooooooooooong time catching up with this one, yes. Not that we're gonna ever hear from her again in the MSM. Follow up? Not. @ 111 "Most of the savings will come from winding down the war in Iraq, increased (tax) revenue from those making more than $250,000 a year, and savings from making government work more efficiently and eliminating programs that do not work," the official said. 1/ The war spending isn't even counted as part of "the deficit," which rightly or wrongly addresses only the normal budget. 2/ Hiking tax rates on high-income earners/investers is a proven revenue LOSER. 3/ The part where Obie names three or more "programs that do not work" which he's ready to eliminate ... it's strangely missing from my copy of this story. Just an oversight, no doubt. 4/ Didn't he just last week get done EXPANDING the deficit, by something like TIMES TEN?????????????? Now he's supposedly all Mr Fiscal Responsibility? Blow me. Since we have "agreed" ("bipartisanly", I might add) that the demand side drives economic growth, why not have the states reduce sales taxes as a requirement in accepting part of the "stimulus" package? It takes the tax structure in a fundamentally wrong direction, but I will take it if I can. Besides I am willing to compromise on my philosophy in order to pick up the economy again. Posted by: blackrockmarauder at February 22, 2009 03:09 PM (GvgvT) 133
More Fun With Math
The "cut" is $13 per week on average. That comes to $65 for all those five-week months out there. However, for the four-week variety, it comes to $52, not $65. Only February truly fits that bill, though: the actual "average" month is 4.3 weeks, giving us an average "cut" of $55.90 per month. It just goes to show that Obama can work magic with numbers - must be something to do with the unicorn Skittles production. And also that anyone who pays the slightest attention to what the man says is a complete moron. Posted by: Adjoran at February 22, 2009 04:58 PM (PbKS0) 134
