| No Wonder Liberals Don't Mind Higher Taxes; None of Them Apparently Pay ThemYet another Obama appointee with tax troubles. Labor head wannabe Solis' husband only paid $6000+ in outstanding tax liens against his company when his wife was tapped for the cabinet. As a blogger snarked: This is all part of Obama's scheme to goose tax revenues. He's just going to keep on nominating tax scofflaws until they all pay up, and we'll be deficit free. Here's an object lesson: Higher tax rates lead to higher rates of evasion, which leads to higher enforcement costs.

So we have a de facto American Tea Party WRT Donks and taxes. Too bad they didn't invite the GOP to their revolt. That's some bipartisanship the whole nation could get behind.
The ultimate message I'm getting from the Donks is, "Don't pay your taxes." That's some change I can believe in. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at February 05, 2009 04:16 PM (sI5Ho) 9

Obama's already had as many gaffes as Bush did, and Obama's been prez for 2 weeks.
We've got plenty of time. Sure, the moonbats will be crazy, but a lot of people will simply not be bothered to show up at the polls for this loser. And the GOP will probably be quite ready to turn out and get rid of this guy. He's already admitting mistakes. He's stupidly proclaiming this to be the great depression part deux! It's going to be easy to note that his attitude brought on a lot of the hardship, and that he does not keep his word. It's sad, because there was a moment there that I thought he was going to be as competant as Clinton and I was hoping for a great presidency even if it helped the donkeys. Instead, all I have to look forward to is ending this disaster. With Bush, almost nothing was a political game if the nation's interest was at stake. With Obama, every single detail is political... even bashing the economy so that his start point is as low as possible! Most voters think Bush is a jackass, but that he loves the country. How many sincerely honest voters will be able to say Obama is sincerely trying to help the USA with this stimulus bill? Posted by: Boogersnax at February 05, 2009 04:39 PM (CW1Wn) 29

Funny, I haven't seen constant headline about the most corrupt Congress ever.
Anyways I will have faith in the voters on this one. Dems got killed over the check bounce thing before Republicans got elected to Congress a few years back. I'm pretty sure this stuff won't fly the second time around either especially given the economy. Posted by: David at February 05, 2009 04:42 PM (NgoAe) 31

You should have seen what happened to us when THEY screwed up. It took us years to get it cleared off - we did get the money back, sort of (applied to another tax bill), but it messed with our credit for years - they should have paid us interest. (VR and sour-grape juice = The Hobo Hunter) But make no mistake, corruption has been around as long as politics. Today, we have instant communication to help us keep an eye on those in Washington who think they can fool all of the people all of the time. It doesn't mean they won't try, but it's becoming more difficult for them to succeed.
