Popcorn Alert! Blue Dogs And The White House Vs. Pelosi

Over 50 Blue Dog Democrats in the House are circulating a letter asking House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md) to work with them to restore 'regular order' to House proceedings. While this is a little bit of inside baseball, what they are complaining about is Granny McBotox's practice of skipping the regular committee procedures for writing legislation. The letter is going to Hoyer because the Blue Dogs think he will be an ally against Pelosi.

Even more interesting than this internal dust up is the apparent fact that some members of Team Obama are egging the Blue Dogs on against Pelosi.

Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN) — one of the lead Blue Dogs — made a startling admission to lefty Liberadio on Sunday, suggesting the White House quietly encouraged him to buck House leadership on the stimulus.

Cooper was one of 11 Dems to vote no — joining every GOP House member.

"Well, I probably shouldn’t tell you this, but I actually got some quiet encouragement from the Obama folks for what I’m doing," said Cooper, one of about 55 House Democrats to sign a letter criticizing Speaker Nancy Pelosi for suspending normal debate and committee rules on the $819 billion package.

He went on — and on:

"They know its a messy bill and they wanted a clean bill. Now, I got in terrible trouble with our leadership because they don’t care what’s in the bill, they just want it pass and they want it to be unanimous."

Oh, I do not think Madame Nancy is going to be real happy to hear that the folks from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue are playing around in her sandbox.

I seem to recall another weak and inexperienced President who came to office promising to change things in Washington and pretty much pissing everyone, including his own congressional party off. What was his name again? James? Jimmy? Something like that.

Democrats...still the best weapon in the Republican Party's arsenal.

Below the fold...Pelosi seems to think there are billions of people living in the US.

Of course this is an innocent slip of the tongue but imagine Bush or Palin had said this.

I was thinking of Bubba.  Like fat Clemenza said, these things gotta happen every 15 years or so, to clear out all the bad blood.

Using the Baltimore mafia princess as the noun and "think" as the verb does not compute.

5 This smells like the trash on the mall.  Hoyer *muslim pal, and Cooper sound like plants for press.
The press then spreads word that bill is cleaned up, but actually hidden.  Sounds like the Chicago Way to me.

6 The Dems had to run a bunch of Conservative-lite candidates in 06 and 08 to win quite a few of their new seats. Now that tactic has turned on them.

Groovy.

7 Not surprising.  Pelosi and Reid believe they are the ones in complete charge of the agenda and not Obama.  Afterall he's only been in Washington for 4 years(overly generous).  But Obama does seem to have characteristics of being a narcissist and egomaniac.  He wants to be seen as the one in charge, and pulling their strings, not the other way around.

Whoa, whoa, hold on right there.  Doesn't it -rightly- deserve the much abused label "fear mongering"?

I always figured that, if nothing else, the next four years would provide IMMENSE ENTERTAINMENT once the Democrats in Congress started to say the same thing the rest of us were saying all during the campaign season regarding inexperience / lack of seniority / cutting in line / etc...  They pushed hard to get their little boy into the big chair, figuring that he'd mind his P's and Q's with them, just as he had done during his 140 days as a Junior Senator.  Aww, crap!  You mean he's actually taking his position seriously?  He really thinks that he's OUR BOSS?  Who the hell does he think he is...?

Remember, he would not have even been the nominee if all of those "Super Delegates" up on the Hill had not taken his cash and flipped on Hilary.  They enabled him, I would have thought they would have had some way to control him.

So, either, we are getting played by all or the One wants some space between himself and the wonderful Pelosi/Reid poll numbers.  If it's the latter expect more nominees to have a hard time getting confirmed and a nice Pelosi - Hoyer rematch in the House.

21 Are you guys really buying this?

If public support for this stinking corpse was high, Obama would be on board. 110%.

He stuck his finger in the air and and watched public support for the bill start to crater. Now he’s trying to distance himself from it, using one of his underlings to provide the cover.

Hell, he even activated his Bot Force and urged them to throw house parties and rally support for the bill.

Just another political move from the ultimate politician.

28 Heh, the Hag is gettin' attitude from Dems who actually think she ought to follow the RULES instead of just makin' everybody toe her line. Looks like somebody got a little too full of herself in the past two years, and the mutiny is on! No surprise though, after the Republican Congressmen made the Dems own that bloated monstrosity of a bill last week, there has been some negative feedback from the back seats. Heh, apparently there are some Democrat politicos who care about actual effective government, instead of posing for news cameras and shilling for the adulation of the masses. Sounds like the White HOuse is twiggin' to the situation too. After all, Teh Obamessiah is not going to appreciate people tanking his Hope and Change agenda before Tax Day, right?
