| NOAA: Global warming unstoppable for next 1,000 years...This paper shows that the climate change that takes place due to increases in carbon dioxide concentration is largely irreversible for 1,000 years after emissions stop...Who knows what's going to happen in a 1,000 years anyway? Freaking replicators might have taken over this planet by then and they won't give a shit. Comments1
I predict they will continue to make goofy and incorrect predictions long after the glaciers have reached Kansas.

Ok, so I followed the links and read the paper. This is all based on computer models, and none of the models they showed even acknowledged the drop in temperature over the last 10 years. If the CO2 keeps rising, and the models say the temp is supposed to follow but it drops instead, then the models are wrong. Calling for a complete cessation of anthropogenic CO2 generation and then maybe, just maybe, in 1k years momma gaia might start to heal based on an obviously wrong computer model is BS.

Seriously, I looked at the source code for a bunch of NOAA models and they were all crap. Not one whiff of the sort of techniques one might expect to see in code that is supposed to be producing numerically correct/close results.
Looked like the kind of shit one would expect from undergrad science/engineering students not familiar with how floating point hardware operates. There was no attempt at controlling cumulative rounding errors, the numeric processor was initialized with whatever defaults your compiler's startup code applied (which means they could produce different results depending on what compiler they were built with, or the defaults might not be what you really wanted), etc, etc. Posted by: Purple Avenger at January 31, 2009 10:06 PM (Ygf78) Posted by: Indian outlaw at January 31, 2009 10:09 PM (RSRH4) 48

I work with and have developed implicit FEA codes - just about as deterministic a numerical procedure as you can get. You use this type of program to predict behavior of well-characterized systems subject to known 'forcings' to, use their word such as force, pressure, temperature rise, vibration, etc. Still, you can obtain a chaotic response from at least a couple of well defined problems I know of - response of vertically oriented well drillstrings and rotordynamics of vertical axis pumps. I blundered into one of these problems expecting a straightforward response and got schooled. What the hell ever happened to the observation that weather and climate can also be chaotic? And why the hubris that they understand all that needs be understood in systems orders of magnitude more complex than the engineering problems that still surprise us. I am sick of hearing about this shit. The earth isn't a clockwork mechanism. They can't initialize 50 years ago and predict today (ie anything like the past few years). Translation - they can't verify their magic Wizard of Oz codes against reality. And its becoming clear with each passing milestone that they don't have enough of the puzzle pieces. Oh, and their measurements suck too. Its actually funny to look at the weather surface stations website.

With regards to weather, I'm forever amused that people that can't tell you next week's forecast accurately imagine they can predict an entire millenium in advance. All their modeling is on computers that in fact have been demonstrably wrong for a decade now, and totally missed that we may now be on the edge of a decade's long cooling trend. The biggest tip off is that the predictions seem to change, or require updating, every few weeks. How many progressively colder winters have to go by before these nuts finally give it up? I remember back in the 1980s it was all about the Amazon rain forests. Supposedly, those forests should've been gone for about a decade now if you listened to the enviroloons. Yet those dicks are down there still slashing and burning. Seems like there's plenty of forests and oxygen left. Now it's global warming. What will it be in twenty years? Global cooling? Polar bear farts? Algore decomposing? They'll find something fearful backed up with plenty of unscientific evidence. I figure it'll be something with the oceans. We're out of water or some such shit. I've heard some of the rumblings already. You'd figure they'd go with running out of water. It's easier to point to a growing global population and resource wars as evidence of a crisis. Why make up shit when you've got something concrete to run on? Posted by: jaleach at February 01, 2009 12:42 AM (gHrZU) 72
The Global Warming folks know that the evidence is turning against them. But they also know that Congress and the President are aligned to pass their program. They are more calculating than stupid.
Now is maybe the only time to get their stuff through, thus the hyperbole. Hansen did a similar thing a couple of weeks ago. So the race is on. If they pass their program soon, they will be able to take credit for future cooling and try to save something of their reputations. Fail to act now and the time is coming for exposing fools. They know this. No wonder they are so damn desperate. Posted by: Robert at February 01, 2009 06:29 AM (VotgB) 73
There is a host of Globull Warming bullshit in the abortion of a “stimulus” bill. I haven’t gotten half way through it yet (app 200pp out of 700) and I estimate at least 50 billion on shit like carbon sequestration and other related money waste.

I'm surprised at the lack of math skills on display here. It's simple people - In December, in Canada, the temperature was 5 degrees. In January, in Missouri, it was 20 degrees, four times as warm. Now, on the first of February, in Florida, the temperature will hit 80 degrees, again four times as warm as the previous month. Only a Republican Troglodyte Warming Denier can avoid the inescable conclusion that next month, it will be 320 degrees, and well over 1000 degrees in April. This math is also why I should be president. Each recount, I was getting closer. Eight or nine hundred more recounts, and I would have been president. Update:
I have updated my computer model (fixed a spelling error) and it turns out in 3009 Nancy Pelosi will not have any descendents, not even replicants. They will have all been wiped out in the anti-glaciation riots in Denver, Mexico, in the year 2652. The computer model predicts the riots in April 2652 but I'm thinking May is slightly more likely. May plus or minus 147 months. Exactly. Posted by: klrtz1 at February 01, 2009 08:27 AM (5jP7T) 78
Something else funny about this piece of shit paper. A footnote “The authors declare no conflict of interest”.
Hahahahaha, looking at the author I see that she is a member and gov worker for NOAA. Looking at the “stimulus package” I see 600,000,000 dollars earmarked for NOAA for globull warming related research. I see $400,000,000 going to NASA for AGW related shit. I see 2.5 billion going to the national science foundation for AGW related shit. So in these 3 line items alone I see 3.5 billion (that with a B billion) reasons for conflict of interest.
If it were not for the globull warming fraud this bitch would not even have a job yet she sees no conflict of interest.

I'm not going to google up any links, but the envirotards are already pushing "running out of potable water leading to eco wars" crap. In Canada there's a leftist push to ban water exports (by private companies) and to stop the ideas of water pipelines/exports to the U.S. Midwest and West from Canada and the Great Lake states (with American envirotard support). One set of communist assholes pushing this "defend Canada's water" crap want to nationalize all of the country's water, that has me thinking that they don't mind the idea of tankers of fresh, Canadian water going to leftist, Marxist etc. Third World shit-holes via the Canadian Water Marketing Board, but just none to "bad" countries like the U.S. and Israel. Just to let you morons know, it's really fuckin hot in Australia right now. Heh. Andy, I'm watching how much behind-the-scenes World Govt develops over trumped-up water issues. I'm on the South Shore/North Coast, where one state (mine) just forcibly bought out the licenses of its last (2) commercial fishermen to save the lake-kittens--for Ontario's trawlers. It's a Nafta thing I guess, but I'm not seeing the sense of it. Howscum you lot get all that mercury for yourselves? Heavily reported local water quality scares (in Milwuakee, it turned out to be dog poop in the storm sewers) are, pretty obviously, leading to nationalization of all water processing. Meanwhile a certain film-maker's paradise continues to suck the Colorado dry while telling the rest of us not to flush. A smart infrastructure guy would figure out how to pay to pipe off and reservoir the excess spring flow of the Mississippi, into the Edwards Aquifer. I'll pay for anything not going to California. That should relieve the threat to Great Slave Lake. And save Nawlins yay! There ain't no shortage of water. There's a shortage of water in the desert, where LA is located. How about Las Vegas, home of the idiot Reid himself? Every time I see them talking about all the “beautiful fountains” in front of the casinos it makes me puke. In a area like Las Vegas which is truly desert a spraying fountain will allow millions of gallons of water to evaporate away.
We could get a lot of full flushes from what ONE of those fountains waste per day. Posted by: Vic at February 01, 2009 11:48 AM (f6os6) 91
Just to let you morons know, it's really fuckin hot in Australia right now. Heh. That's right, comatus, but what the MSM haven't told us or reminded everyone of, and while it varies throughout different regions of the nation-continent but I assume based on the Sydney to Melbourne area, the past two (or three?) summers have sucked in Oz with fewest number of days over 30°C in decades. (Probably since the Greens claimed the pollution-caused new Ice Age dawning in the '70s.) forcibly bought out the licenses of its last (2) commercial fishermen to save the lake-kittens--for Ontario's trawlers. It's a Nafta thing I guess, I doubt it's Nafta related. Probably your enviros buying the right votes or maybe your local Indians want to start up a "Native fishery" (that's happened in our Maritime provinces). And there's anti-enviro irony in this too as the Great Lakes are clean enough now to sustain commercial fisheries and e.g. salmon are returning to Toronto's rivers/creeks. Would anyone have believed that of, say, Lake Erie from the view in the '70s? Howscum you lot get all that mercury for yourselves? Centigrade thermometers use more mercury. ;^) A smart infrastructure guy would figure out how to pay to pipe off and reservoir the excess spring flow of the Mississippi, into the Edwards Aquifer. I haven't read or seen alot of documentaries about that sort of thing, but I saw one that shows how much fresh water from our Far North (and Alaska?) drains into the Arctic Ocean and that if we could get it draining south, then there'd be plenty of water for farming and urban populations in both countries' West. And be careful about investigating L.A.'s water, comatus, because you know what happens to nosy guys, don't you? They lose their noses, even if they're not in Chinatown. We should all follow Bjorn Lomborg's advice and focus on more immediate envirionmental concerns. We could spend one tenth the money and more quickly improve the quality of life around the globe.

So we be good doing nothing.
Isn't it odd that somehow all on it's own the Earth's climate has swung from glaciation to inter-glacial warm with no help from Al Gore. I would like to see how he explains that.

Why is a NOAA researcher ignoring ocean temperature data that has been collected for decades by ... NOAA??
http://tinyurl.com/3cu5tg We've actually detected oceanic cooling over the past couple of decades. If he believes in global warming - he should not be talking about atmospheric heat being "absorbed" by the oceans because - heh ... if global warming is happening (which it isn't) ... then we'd have seen this "absorption" in the Argos data - and it's not there. But this is good news - if Americans aren't worried about a stimulus plan that will mortgage their grandchildren's freedom - then what happens 1,000 years from now with the weather should be of little concern to them. Overall a positive development I'd say. Posted by: HondaV65 at February 01, 2009 12:40 PM (9vlDt) 95

But improving quality of life is not their aim. It is to use the "climate crisis" as a Trojan horse for social control. In its most virulent form, it seeks to exterminate the human race. I prefer "stop frothing, Al." The idea of someone "frothing Al" makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Posted by: railwriter at February 01, 2009 02:27 PM (XcsD4) 98
No88 - Could Gore spell Rankine let alone comprehend the point you make?
There is a cause to climate fluctuation. Its big, real big, far away, yellow and on fire. Its energy gets here via radiative heat transfer. Yes, you do need to work with absolute temperatures - Rankine or Kelvin - not convenient-to-humans scales like Fahrenheit or Celsius. But hell, the climo-fascisti aren't too concerned about Navier-Stokes once the energy is here, why should they care about Stephan-Boltzman to characterize how much does get here? how can you model something whose variables you don't know?
You model it badly, and keep adding more convoluted cycles and epicycles to cover up the discrepancies. Posted by: Purple Avenger at February 01, 2009 08:02 PM (Ygf78) 101
And all we,ll get from GREENPEACE is their usial amount of asolutly stupid and brainless protests and idiotic stunts becuase some bunch of buricrats want more money and our grand exualted emporer palpatine obama is willing to shell out millions more on pork
