Polling Data and Other Lies

Once again, blatantly ripped off from Hot Air. Here's the source material from The Politico.

Essentially, a poll taken by Democracy Corps shows that Rush Limbaugh has unfavorable ratings among the infamous "likely voters" of 51% (favorable is 23%), second only to the 59% unfavorable rating held by President George W. Bush (who has a favorable rating of 31%). Others in the same survey include Newt Gingrich (25% favorable: 48% unfavorable), and Sarah Palin ( 41% favorable: 47% unfavorable).

To paraphrase the guys from "The 40-Year Old Virgin": You know how I know this polling data is bullshit?

Senator John McCain.
48% favorable.
37% unfavorable.

Let's make it clear: I have no idea who "Democracy Corps" is and what their agenda consists of; but any poll that shows John "Maverick McClusterfuck" McCain with a favorable rating higher than Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, Fox News AND the generic label of "Conservative" just HAS to be completely FUBAR. I might believe that McCain beats "generic Republican" by 11 points, but the others? You're shitting me here.

This goes way beyond the "I don't believe the numbers" shadow of a doubt. This is well into "Goddamnit, I'm pissed that you think I'm that fucking stupid" territory. There's no way in hell that this polling data wasn't HEAVILY weighted towards Democrats. I'm thinking something like a 60/20/20 split of Dem/Rep/Ind "likely voters". Plus, the data's referenced as being from "last fall". That's a big span of time. Are we talking September? October? November?

And before anyone starts in on Allahpundit for "Eeyorism", please remember that these aren't his polling numbers. Plus, he's looking at this with a New York State of Mind, which makes the distaste for social cons shown in this poll believable. I do think that he's chuckling at being able to throw out more red meat to the blogosphere, but he ain't the guy responsible for this crap. He's just the messenger, so please don't turn the comments into a "two-minute hate" on the man.

One thing I'd like to know: Where the fuck was this poll taken? David Frum's office? Christopher Buckley's vacation cottage? Peggy Noonan's favorite male strip club?

No effin way is Pres. Ego or his clisterf*ck stimulus favored by even 42%!

The good side of the artificially false polls to boost him is, there is no where else to go but down and down larger numbers! A fake percentage boost for approval means a larger than would have been normal % drop of support.I don't know a sole who believes those polls, even among my friends and coworkers that voted for the fraud.

"I won, and I will trump you on that" comes to mind.

That said, if the poll is from November, or even more than a few days ago, it is old news, and therefore....bullshit, as far as we need be concerned.

27 AP is an ass, since you brought up the subject.

The Left is full of themselves and forecasting the 'death of Conservatism,' as if Barry's win in November signals some fundamental shift in the electorate.  They ignore, however, the fact that conservatives were alienated from their party because of its behavior over the last number of years and because of the candidate that was nominated.  It was less a matter of liberal ascension and more one of conservative disenchantment with the meal on their plate.

For instance, when did Bush's approval ratings really tank?  After the amnesty debacle.  The number of approval's plummeted because they had finally pushed the base too far.

This poll is just more propaganda trying to write reality rather than represent it.  Ignore what your enemies are telling you and trust your own lying eyes.

29 Rush usually makes a point of ignoring media (radio)competitors but now he's working the circuit?

Has Rush decided that the three hours of his show aren't enough and in fact needs to increase his own media exposure? ( I think hes been on Fox, Levin, Hannity, Larson, NRO and a few others?)

This is slightly puzzling because I don't ever recall him doing this type of thing ( NFL/racist controversy excluded). Does this point to Rush believing he WILL be marginalized if he doesn't step-up and combat this Obama/MSM constructed meme immediately?

I don't listen to Rush so its hard to get a grasp on whats really happening.

32 The problem here is the question. It's completely meaningless -- or more precisely, so absolutely able to mean whatever anyone wants it to mean as to make it meaningless.

I can't imagine very many people who voted Obama having an "unfavorable" view of McCain -- the dude rolled over and played dead -- the only "tell" that he was still alive was that he drooled enthusiastically when Barry scratched him near his withered genitals.

Back in '91 or '92, when Gorby came to the US, he made a quick trip through the Twin Cities. The Star-Tribune ran a headline that I still use in my statistics classes: "Minnesotans prefer Gorbachev to Bush." The headline, of course, referred to one of these stupid "favorable/unfavorable" polls. They never bothered to ask: "Whom would you rather have as president of the United States," which, of course, is the only way to measure the issue addressed in the headline.

(Although, after this stupid 2008 Franken debacle, I'm not sure how that question would have turned out, either.....)

Acme has a long history of providing useful, reliable products for a variety of needs. During WWII, we were proud to have the US military use our Rocket Powered Roller Skates and Giant Rubber Band Boulder Launcher.

Every product we sell meets strict quality requirements and comes with a complete set of instructions. In addition, we offer a limited warranty which covers most manufacturing defects.

If that pea-brained coyote keeps screwing up, it's not our fault.

50 About Democracy CorpsDemocracy Corps is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to making the government of the United States more responsive to the American people. It was founded in 1999 by James Carville and Stanley Greenberg. Democracy Corps provides free public opinion research and strategic advice to those dedicated to a more responsive Congress and Presidency.

The organization was born out of outrage over the impeachment of President Clinton when the leadership in Congress preferred radical partisanship to addressing the issues which really matter to American families. Following the 2000 election, Democracy Corps rededicated itself after the presidential candidate with the most votes and the most popular policy agenda did not become the President of the United States.

Dems and RINOs would LOVE to draw a bright line and create a war between the grassroots, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, AoS crew, type of conservatives on one side; and the McCain, Peggy Noonan, "we're conservative but we hate Rush & Coulter they're a pox on conservatism", elite Republicans on the other.

We followed the lead of the media and the squishy moderates this past election cycle. That worked out pretty well for conservatives and the Republican party didn't it? On the other hand, the furthest left moonbat Kos kids, blogosphere lunatic wing of the Democratic party never blinked. Geez, who's running things now?

And BTW, they have the most liberal guy in the Senate with his boffo stimulus package in the WH, and they're getting pissed, it's still not near enough for them.

I normally believe you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, but look at the results. Bile and vitriiol have done the Dems pretty well recently.

Allahpundit deliberately picked an old poll to mislead people about the present.  So this isn't just a case of shoot the messenger.

It's a case of shoot the LIAR.

While we're on the subject, lying seems to be a constant among these RINO's.  Case in point:  Ryan Sager claims to be a libertarian.  He even claims to support gun rights.  So who does he want for President? Michael Bloomberg.  While he claims this is because Bloomberg is pro-choice, this doesn't distinguish him from any other half-assed Republican from the coasts.  What does distinguish him is the only thing anyone outside NYC knows about him:  that he leads a group of gun-control mayors.  Sager, and every other closet Communist claiming to be a libertarian, hates gun owners because she (yes, that was deliberate) knows every last one of us is a real man who can kick his parasitic gun-fearing ass.  But since guns are enormously popular, he lacks the balls to say so.
