MSN Jerkoff Blatantly Hypocritcal on Limbaugh's Hypocrisy

Read the post.

Here's the vid:

Now, Limbaugh is being inconsistent here. He didn't really call for bipartisanship when Republicans were in majority, but calls for it now.

But he has a right to do that: After all, Democrats and the MSM (but I repeat myself) also called for bipartisanship during Bush's administration, when Republicans owned both ends of The Mall. Ergo, Rush is using their own calls for bipartisanship against them, demanding they offer now what they once demanded as their right.

We endlessly heard about the need for Republicans to bend to the Democrats' will from 2001-2008. And not just from the Democrat Party itself, but from its house newsletter, the MSM, which repeated their demands with utmost sympathy.

So, Rush has flipped a bit, now using the Democrats arguments against them. And I suppose the Democrats can be excused a bit on this score, as they can claim (I suppose) they are just using the old Republican arguments against them.

But what about the MSM? Supposedly it has no dog in this fight. Why do they only point out Rush's flip-flop without noting the endless calls for bipartisanship from Schumer, Leahy, Pelosi, and Reid?

The MSM is of course utterly hypocritical about hypocrisy. Pointing out one side's inconsistencies while studiously avoiding the other side's -- or, more accurately, their own side -- is itself hypocritical.

And what of Rush's "disgusting" and "unpatriotic" wish that Obama would fail?

Did the MSM ever highlight oft-repeated wishes from the left that we lose in the War in Iraq just to help get a Democrat elected president?

Gary Kamiya, executive editor for Salon, writing immediately after the fall of Baghdad, while most of America rejoiced:

I have a confession to make. I have at times, as the war unfolded, secretly wished for things to go wrong. Wished for the Arab world to rise up in rage. Wished for all the things we feared would happen.

I'm not alone -- more casualties would have been a preferred alternative to the larger moral negative of a victory.... Wishing for things to go wrong is the logical corollary of the postulate that the better things go for Bush, the worse they will go for America and the rest of the world.

Johnathan Schell, writing in The Nation:

[Democratic Senator Joe] Biden says we must win the war. This is precisely wrong. The United States must learn to lose this war a harder task, in many ways, than winning, for it requires admitting mistakes and relinquishing attractive fantasies. This is the true moral mission of our time.

Did our fair and balanced MSM ever question these pundits' patriotism? Did they even mention that such horrific sentiments were downright commonplace on the Left?

But now Rush has said he hopes Obama would fail -- or, I think he meant to say, he hopes the public will not credit his awful stimulus for having provoked the inevitable economic recovery, and thus mistakenly learn that government spending and European socialism are the cure for what ails us.

And that is odious, it seems.

But American leftist pundits cheerleading for more US servicemen to die in Iraq? Not a mention -- and therefore, having studiously avoided mentioning it, no need to ask questions about the left's patriotism.

The media's commitment to support of the president and patriotic support of the nation is highly selective -- and the worst hypocrisy of all. After all, the political parties, and avowed political partisans like Rush make no pretense at all of being "fair" or "impartial" as the media does.

Gosh, I can't keep up with the changing rules. It's almost like CNBC and its parent company were run by partisan hypocrites, running cover for left-wing politicians.

5 The odious Mark Haines is the very embodiment of "the decider".
I've had to catch this gasbags act for years since his hours apparently are from 6 to 8 PST- tough life.
You will be shocked to know he's a lawyer- something he reminds everyone of every few days.
Of course, he exceptionally bad demeanor lately might be because this dinosaur has all of his 401K in GE stock- heh!

How soon we forget that the Democrats controlled Congress for FORTY YEARS and we never ever heard the word "bipartisanship." In fact, the word was probably invented in December 1994.

The is classic Rush--he is making a reasonable sounding proposal. The ball then goes to the libs to explain why they will not follow the proposal.

17 Mark Haines is an unlikely target of conservative wrath. He has been railing against the government's response (whether Democratic or Republican) to our fiscal "crisis" for months. He is one of the few talking heads who actually believes in free markets and capitalism. Okay, he is one of the few talking heads who even knows what those terms mean. His response to the auto bailout? Let them go bankrupt!

Cranky, sure, and obviously not his finest moment, but not exactly a slightly less masculine version of Rachel Maddow, either.

Is it just me or has the open hostility of anything remotely anti-Obama from the MSM just reached new heights (at least from NBC) with this guy's behavior. He's not even trying to be professional - he's just being a prick - I don't think Erin Burnett could believe it. This is media hackery at its finest - I know that I shouldn't be surprised but I am.

26 Rush has correctly pointed out that Obama has no need for bipartisanship, there are enough Dems in congress to push through anything without Republican support. In fact that would be better for the Democrats, because if their programs are as successful as they claim they will be, it could only help them on Election Day to point out that no Republicans voted for them. The only reason to want Republican votes is so they can share the blame if/when Obama's programs fail.

29 I think he meant to say, he hopes the public will not credit his awful stimulus for having provoked the inevitable economic recovery

I think you're being awfully optimistic, there, that the economy will recover in the expected period that one expects for a recession. You're forgetting Obama's $825 billion boat anchor attached to said economy.

They'll either borrow more money, or simply print it. Boy, that'll be just so peachy-keen! And given the amount of Buy American clauses, it neatly doubles as a tariff bill, too. A tariff war is the last thing we need.

Check this Motley Fool blog out http://tinyurl.com/ddhbx2 for at least the cartoon.

Elder called them the "Marx Brothers" as in Karl, not Groucho.  I don't know how McIntyre figures he's a conservative since he's constantly ranting against the evils of capitalism and going on about how it's the taxpayer's responsibility to buy medicine for his sick brother. Rantel turned into Andrew Sullivan this year, I don't see how he still claims to be a Reaganite.

KABC learned quickly that you might be able to pass squishy moderates off as conservatives on the tv talkers and the newspapers, but talk radio listeners know a phony when they hear one.

Anyone agree that Diderot's logic-chopping and "analysis" seem to be a case of one-too-many-hits-off-the bong?

Diderot seems to ignore how much we deplored McCain's "reaching across the aisle", which in almost all cases is a one-way street.  He seesm to have forgotten how the libs told us "dissent is the highest form of patriotism".

Limbaugh has NEVER argued for bipartisanship.  His stimulus plan is obviously nothing more than a way of tweaking The One over the latter's claim to be seeking consensus.

As for L picking up Drudge's line: say what?  How much power does Drudge have?  When was the last time a POTUS or Senate Majority Leader or House Speaker sought to publicly criticize Drudge?

Posted by: fulldroolcup at January 29, 2009 06:43 PM (fXKCV)

35 It should have been obvious to Mark Haines that Rush had no reason to call for bipartisanship back when it was 51-49.  Clearly, the President of the United States was solidly bipartisan, working with Ted Kennedy on No Child Left Behind, working for the Medicare Drug Supplement, footdragging on illegal immigration enforcement measures, etc.  No one had to call for bipartisanship from the Republican ranks back then.  It just was.

Nope.  He's consistent.  Bush didn't call for bi-partisanship.  Obama did.  It would not have made sense for Rush to call for bi-partisanship when the president wasn't calling for it.  But Obama is calling for it right now.  So Rush is offering the bi-partisan plan.  He's calling a bluff is all.  He's incredibly consistent, imo.
